The food was served hot and every dish we ordered tasted so good and fresh! The only negative things were the menu selection was limited and we were being served slower than usual because they don't have staff pushing around the carts. The price for each dish was decent. I was here last April for my birthday with my best friend, this time for a 30 year anniversary of friendship and colleagueship, a party of 7. Sorry no photos this time. We were so involved in talk and eating, no time for pics. We met a little after 11 and when we all arrived we requested a table. We were greeted in a very friendly polite fashion and were seated no waiting whatsoever. We were given the dim sum and a la carte menu. We ordered and can confirm our previous visit NO LANGUAGE BARRIER, whatsoever. Perfect communication. They were very busy but still attended our every need when we asked for help and they did so quickly and efficiently. We spoke to several staff members: all polite, attentive and friendly From the main menu: chicken chow mein, 3 item bbq plate, tofu with brown sauce, spicy salt and pepper calamari, half the table got lemon iced tea - all delicious, hot, good quantity ( the drink was nice and cool) and good quality dishes we were very pleased From dim sum menu multiple shrimp and beef rice noodle, beef tripe, beef balls, him sui gok, 3 hat gow and 3 siu mai, chicken feet, shrimp&chive dumpling, chicken Bao, turnip cake. All the dishes were freshly made, hot and so tasty. We ordered some other separate items to go and had the most pleasant day with New Fusion and my best friends. We have come for lunch and dinner, which helps me feel like I have a rounded experience. Both times I came during a week day, so it wasn't really busy. Dim sum, their baos are legit. They have a purple yam one that I haven't seen on any other menu, and it's my favorite thing I've eaten in a long time. I also appreciate that they have the old school bolo bao with custard filling. Sui Mai and har gow was satisfying. I'd skip the char sui Cheng fun, but the shrimp one was solid. The hanging ducks and dim sum dishes fills my tummy without regret at competitive prices in this part of SGV. My usual is the "Char Siu and Roasted Pork Rice", but finishing with a side order of vegetables is a must for me for more fiber and essential protein. The meat quality here is tender and consistent, and just a few scopes rice layered with the rich dark sauce quickly become dangerously addicting! The paintings of the Chinese zodiac was supposed to elevate the environs with a certain posh, and felt a bit stuffy at first. But it gives you an unusual gimmick to checkout the long restaurant as you head to the back for the restrooms. I've had the opportunity to try both and both are very good! They also have chinese BBQ like roast duck and pork, etc. up front. Their portions are generous and prices are very reasonable in fact much lower that I've seen compared to others in the area. Their dim sum is very good, especially their ham sui gok or fried pork puffs. YUM! This is a casual type restaurant. It's good for small or large parties. They have a huge back area that can fit several large tables. They also have private rooms if needed. The wait staff is very friendly, though when it gets busy you may need to flag them down. I've been to this restaurant a few times now and I haven't been particularly impressed with the food. The prices make me want to stay away a bit more and their customer service is the final straw. When I stopped by, the restaurant was about 50% occupied and there were about 4-5 employees on the floor. I stood by waiting at the front waiting to be shown where we'd be seated, but workers kept passing by without acknowledging us. After finally waving someone down, someone pointed into the dining room in which I assumed he asked us to proceed in. Standing in the middle, I'm confused on what to do and asked another employee. I just waved in the generally in the air. Finally, someone approached us and walked us to a table. But of course, now, we are waiting for someone to take our order with no immediate success. Everyone just looked so busy walking back and forth with nothing in their hands. We had the roast duck dish, which was decent. Nothing to rave about as the duck meat is basically missing. But they were very generous with the room temperature rice! Joking of course, it's sad to see when 75% of your dish is rice and it's not even hot. Recommend the salted egg with pumpkin and the salted egg shrimp (nice and crispy even for takeout). The pork knuckles/feet with peanuts clay pot dish is tasty too. The mapo tofu didn't have as much flavor as I like but with some salt it was pretty good. I asked for no numbing oil so not sure if that changed the flavor of mapo tofu. Dim sum and more!!! I decided to try a new place and it's average. The dim sum here was ok and not too bad. I did like the egg tart and shu mai. The flavor on the roast duck was decent but unfortunately it was too skinny and didn't have enough meat and basically mostly bones. Of the 3 items I'll start with siu-mai Flavor was average, portion was reasonable, price was little above average. Har gow Flavor was below average. I've had better at many places that serve dim sum. Food temperature was not steamy at all. Portion was average and price was little above average. Beef chow fun Flavor was near bland. I've had better at many places. Portion was reasonable. I was expecting filet migon as one of the ingredient. Filet is the most tender cut off beef. The beef chow fun that I paid for had meat that did not resemble the tender texture of filet. At the price of $14, I do feel cheated. All in all I think there are many places in the area I would choose rather than this place. You might find better value and flavor. If they were able to do the most average they would receive 2.5 stars. The less than average flavor, the bait and switch of the beef in my order, I will award New Fusion a one star. During this terrible pandemic, I set a high standard on how safe I feel from Covid. i rank New Fusion very high because the waiters and servers are all masked as are customers who enter. The dining room is so spacious that I can socially distance from other diners. So I have been patronizing them 2 or 3 times a month since they opened for indoor dining. Previously, they only had takeout or outdoor tent dining. What would I recommend for anyone who craves Cantonese food? By all means order the Juicy roast duck and BBQ pork. The duck was so good that I ordered one cut up to give to friend and wife who are home-bound by pandemic. They raved it was so juicy and tender -- better than Sam Woo's which set the standard in the SGV. Their fish maw soup was also very good as was their stir fried fish fillet with seasonal vegetables. We usually order their sweet and sour fish fillet and walnut shrimp also. Portions are generous -- we usually take home several boxes of leftovers. In the beginning, I was a Garden Cafe fan but as time went on, I feel this place have really come up to par. This is a great place if you are looking for a gathering where everyone wants to eat something different. I especially like their brunch hours because at the same time, you can order dim sum, western style breakfast, congee, bbq stuff (chashu, roast duck, chicken, etc) and typical Cantonese style plates. Because they have so much offerings, it is of course, not as good as places that specialized in certain areas, but slightly above average considering the amount of options that give. We felt the tall boss man didn't care about us "the dine-in paying customer", perhaps we are Asian? We ordered 2 dishes and both dishes were good but we did not understand why the simple 2nd dish took over 15 minutes to be served following the 1st dish when there are hardly any other patriots dining and it came in a 'plastic' to go tub. The fine table had fine chinaware. The boosman didn't say anything but just toss the food onto our table and left. We ordered the below: - Three cup chicken: chicken pieces were big portion-wise (and wasn't just bone) but lacked flavor. Also didn't have any peppers so it lacked a kick to it that I'm normally used to when ordering this at other places - Crispy pork belly - not too bad, but was really salty on its own - Garlic honey pork chop - this is the one of their specialties that I usually order at this place, but it was overly sweet this time I got it and doesn't taste quite the same without the garlic flavor I've heard from someone who knows the management that some chefs have moved on to Henry's Cuisine (and explains why that place is now my top pick for Canto/HK food). I ordered a whole white chicken for my mother and father because one whole chicken usually suffices the three of us. When I got home, I noticed that the amount of chicken that was in the box was lackluster. As we ate, it was mainly all bone and very scarce with meat. From the morning, they have very tasty dim sum with reasonable price starting at only $3 a dish. My favorite dim sums here are chowzhou Dumpling, cocktail coconut bun, char Siu Bun, steam rice, gluttonous rice and more. Their dim sum menu is fairly comprehensive. For lunch and dinner, the menu is also extensive. I typically order their mandarin pork ribs and pan fried string beans. The taste for these dishes are very mathematically Cantonese. I came into this establishment expecting great things but left with disappointment. Servers were not attentive and food was lack luster. Flagging down a waiter to place our order was difficult as almost every employee who came by disregarded us until one attentive female waitress noticed that we were just sitting there and helped place our order. If it was only the service that was bad I could live with that. However the food itself was terrible. We ordered a chicken beef steak combo, Bolognese, and a beef noodle soup. The beef noodle stew however was good. The soup wasn't too strong and the portion size was worth it. After we ate, calling a waiter for the tab was easy. It was probably the only time during this experience where I didn't have to flag down several people. The server came lighting fast to pick up the tab after I put my card down. Ive brought my family to eat here several times before during pre pandemic and the experiences were always pleasant. However todays experience is unacceptable. I understand that costs are rising drastically in this day and age and businesses need to make adjustments to survive, but cutting standards shouldn't be an option.
