This place has been on my list for a while, and we finally tried it tonight. Long story short, it's really good, but it's relocating. First, we got there around 6 p.m. and it was empty. Like, the parking lot was practically empty, and the restaurant itself had a solo diner in there. The guy who worked there won't win any hospitality awards. So yeah, definitely a weird vibe for the first 10 minutes or so. We ended up ordering scallion pancakes, cucumber salad, pork burger, spring pancake w/ shredded pork in Peking sauce, zhajiang noodles, tomato & egg noodles, and fried cat ear noodles w/ pork. It's very much a family-run business, so the food came out here and there, but I must say, everything was very good. The shredded pork was especially good, so we ordered another set of pancakes to eat that. What's interesting is that most of the dishes had some level of spice to them. It wasn't too much, but there's definitely a kick. But it was all good. (And like some other reviews said, the portions are good.) There are some aspects of their physical space that aren't great (e.g., go through the kitchen for the bathroom) but it is moot at this point. There was signage that said they're moving to a new location near Lower Azusa and El Mote on August 20th. Hopefully the new space makes it feel more vibrant. Definitely hope to eat here again. **This location is interesting. The restaurant that was here before was also pretty good, but I guess it didn't work out since they closed. I was grabbing Chinese food and found this place on Yelp... it's such a little hidden gem! - Cucumber Salad - Popcorn Chicken - Pork & Cabbage Potstickers - Braised Beef Noodles with Thin Noodles - Zhajiang Noodles Everything we order was really good and flavorful. We especially love the Braised Beef Noodles. The beef was super tender, and the broth was very flavorful. My boyfriend loved the cucumber salad and the Zhajiang Noodles. The popcorn chicken was really good as well with really big portions. The service was a typical Chinese place, but We definitely can't wait to come back and try other items. Amazing hole-in-the-wall local spot for noodles and small plates! The service is a seat-yourself and a call them when you need assistance kind of style (which I honestly prefer). As a kid, I used to go to ACI institute next door so I've seen this place cycle a bit thru the decades. Now, it's an AWESOME noodle spot. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the food is delicious. It looks like it's run by a husband and wife duo, so practice a little bit of patience when you dine here (or just order to go!) We had the: *Beef Sandwich (Rou Jia Mo (肉夹馍)) - honestly maybe the best rou jia mo I've ever had. The exterior was flaky and crispy. The beef inside was flavorful and wasn't too fatty. You can also get this with lamb. *Three fresh/San Xian pan fried dumplings (三鲜水饺): they do the dumpling lace and everything here! These were DANG good. So much filling but none of the dumpling skin torn or cracked so it stayed super juicy. Super impressed. *Clear Broth Beef Noodles - basically the lighter version of the niu rou mian. We ordered this with thick hand made noodles. So tasty! The broth was super flavorful. *Cold noodles or liángpí (凉皮) - this is one of my favorite dishes in GENERAL. Apparently they make theirs fresh and we got the first batch. It was awesome; the sauce was spicy and peanuty. *Seaweed appetizer - this cold appetizer is good but spicy! So just be warned! I want to gatekeep this place so badly I considered not writing a review. My brother recommended this place after he went, and it was so good I told my mother to go the next day. While the shop is a small family owned business, the noodles and soup deliver at a fantastic price point. $54 for 3 people with plenty of leftovers. They are a bit shortstaffed, so you can self serve, but the food came out at a very reasonable time. We got the pickled cucumbers, 3 kinds dumpling, stirfried cat ear, beef noodle soup with wide noodles. All the noodles are hand pulled, and you can see them pulling the noodles. The cat your noodles are so unique and flavorful, I think I blacked out eating them. Spicy cucumber is on par, if not better tasting than Din Tai Fung. 10/10, would return. read more

Had a fantastic meal at 3 He Noodle. The beef noodle soup was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The big plate chicken noodle had great texture and bold seasoning without being overly heavy. The dumplings were fresh and juicy, and the Chinese pork burger was packed with flavor. The pork wrap was also excellent -- soft, chewy, savory, and perfectly balanced. A solid 4.5 for this hidden gem. 3 He is located at the corner of a small plaza off of Temple City Blvd. There's a large parking lot so there's always a spot. Inside, it's small, quiet, and not much going on for decor. What it lacks in visual appeal, they make up in flavor. There are a lot of familiar dishes on the menu that you can find elsewhere. The big difference I noticed is their noodles are perfectly chewy and the texture is like they just made it in the kitchen. Big Plate Chicken: mildly spicy, generous portions of tender chicken with wide chewy noodles. It's a big order, so true to its name. 4.5/5 Cat Ears, is a description of the shape of the noodles, like a Chinese gnocchi. These are also cooked perfectly offering a nice chew, with a bold flavor and pieces of pork. There's an option without meat too. 5/5 Tomato Egg Noodles: Lighter than the others with a nice flavor. Tomatoes in noodles aren't my thing, but I still enjoyed it. The service can be a bit slow at times because it's a small family shop, so have patience. What a cute spot! There's convenient parking right out front, which is always a plus. I didn't interact too much with the staff, but they seemed really sweet! I ordered the soup dumplings ($12.12) to go, and they were delicious. The ginger-vinegar sauce stood out to me- it had a slightly sweeter twist than I expected, but it worked so well and made the whole dish even more enjoyable! Great portions and great food! The beggars chicken can feed more than 2 ppl at less than $10! The braised beef noodle soup was great soup flavor, chewy noodles and soft braised beef that was meaty and abundant. The pickled veggies went well with it. The cucumber salad was refreshing. The pancake with cumin and lamb were also excellent. The pork and shrimp Xiao long bao was juicy and meaty and packed lots of flavor inside the dumpling. The staff is literally one waiter and one cook, so the wait times can take awhile and seating and there can be a wait. While this may be barebones operation, the food is of great quality. This is my first time to try this restaurant. The restaurant is located inside a strip mall. It is not too hard to find parking. It is a Taiwanese restaurant with delicious noodles. Portions were large and the flavors were on point. I shared two dishes and an appetizer, and this is what I thought: Lamb Skewer - These skewers are a bit different than others I've had. The meat chunks were large instead of small, which gave them a fattier texture rather than a charred one. They were pretty good but not my favorite lamb skewers. (4/5) Braised Beef Noodle Soup - Tender meat chunks and a flavorful broth. Not too fatty, and the noodles were fresh. Much better than a lot of other spots I've tried. Today it's a noodle shop Taiwanese inspired restaurant. We ordered 3 blossom dumplings, lamb dumplings, chive wrap, lamb skewers, handmade cold noodles in spicy peanut sauce and a pork wrap. The best out of all were the lamb skewers. I would've liked the pork wrap better if it came with some additional sauce because that was a bit dry and the pork tasted better by itself. My favorite dish is their braised chicken noodle dish consists of a wide flat noodle (my favorite!) with a plethora of large chunks of chicken, covered in a ma-la (numbing spicy) sauce. Their dumplings are homemade and were delicious and much more affordable than other places. This is the newest business in this fairly cursed spot. Coming in, it was run by one guy managing both front and back. I ordered the spicy wonton and beef noodle soup. I wanted the liang pi but he said it wasn't available that day. The spicy wonton was quite delicious. I added a bit of the ground chili paste they have on the side to suit my taste a bit more. There's a lot going on flavor wise. It's not my favorite but it's better than many other versions that I've tried around the area. Most of them are more one note on the chili and less flavorful. The beef noodle soup was good. The noodles were bouncy and I usually like thick noodles but this one was acceptable for me. With two similar noodle soups nearby at New Mandarin Noodle Deli and Northern Cafe I don't really see how this place will survive for too long but there are some things I like about this place over the others. read more

Food: The food, honestly, it's only 4 stars, with rooms for improvements. + The portion is generous for the price + The lamb skewer was great + The beef was really soft and flavorful - Seasoning for the beef noodle soup is good, but it's on the saltier side. I feel that there can be less salt since customers have access to sauces on the table. - There seem to be only one size for the noodle, I usually prefer thinner noodle. But I can see that there's only one chef and everything is handmade. - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) had thick skin and is unsweetened. I am neutral about it, but probably wouldn't order again. Initially my uncle and I weren't planning on going to 3 He Noodles for dinner. Since it was already past 8 pm while most local Chinese restaurants close by 9, we rushed to find a nearby restaurant. We finally decided to give 3 He a try. First of all, I do not speak Mandarin and am not very familiar with 3 He's menu. Moreover, I do not eat beef or lamb, and my uncle can't eat spicy food. From what I know 3 He is a mom and pop restaurant. Since the lady doesn't speak fluent English, it was difficult for me to do the ordering. Their menu is strictly texts, no pictures. To make matters worse, I didn't have my phone with me, so I wasn't able to yelp 3 He for food pics. I asked my Mandarin-speaking uncle to place the order. Well, he ended up ordering both boiled dumplings and pan-fried potstickers for the two of us. This makes no sense since I wanted Xiao Long Bao, and he said no. Finally, I just ordered popcorn chicken since it was the simplest thing on the menu. With two plates of dumplings and popcorn chicken, I thought there was already too much food. Therefore, we did not order any noodles. The pan-fried potstickers are delicious. 8/10!! The boiled ones are meh. 6/10!! The popcorn chicken is pretty tasty. For $9, they do give you a big serving of popcorn chicken. Unfortunately, it does come with generic sweet chili sauce that tastes bottled. Somewhat disappointing. Also, their popcorn chicken doesn't come with fried basil leaves. Another disappointment. Overall taste is a 7.5/10. The restaurant is small. There's a lot going on with big food posters on the windows, a fish tank, mismatched tables, etc. I tried to just focus on my food and not pay attention to my surroundings. I'm giving 3 stars since I'm feeling ambivalent about this place. I can't say I had a spectacular dining experience that I'm looking forward to coming back. If you drive by Temple City Blvd and Las Tunas even at 25mph, you are going to miss 3 He Noodles and you will probably regret it. It's in this strip mall just north of Las Tunas. It is definitely a hole in the wall here in the SGV. If I can recall 7-8 tables squeezed into a small space and one of them might be occupied by the owner's kid (I think) on his computer. At least that was the case the night we were there. We ordered a Zhajiang Mian, Beef Noodle soup and Cat's Ear Noodles. I would say they are all good, my wife said we can come back to 3 He. The beef noodle had a good amount of beef shank, the broth was tasteful but not overly powerful. I looked spicy but after tasting the broth, it was not spicy at all. My son devoured it. The Zhajiang Mian was really good, my wife and i split that but I do have to say, the portion was ok, not substantial and i'm sure if my son at it, he would still be hungry. The cat's ear noodles, we were going to split that but it was a larger portion than Zhajiang Mian so we couldn't finish it all. The texture of the noodles was spot on, soft enough yet with enough bit to it. There is one person taking the order and appears to be a 2 people in back, be patient as the food might take a bit longer to come out but I think it's worth it. The prices are pretty standard these days, about $13-$15 per noodle. They have hand wrap rolls that you can wrap and that's around $18-$20ish. Real talk: 3.48 stars This is my kind of place. No Frills. Has the kind of shabby disregard that hints at authenticity of flavor. Parking was easy service was kind. Unfortunately, they did not have XLB so we opted for regular dumplings plus an order of beef noodle soup, seaweed salad and the spring pancake with shredded pork. I must say, I was extremely impressed with the spring pancake with shredded pork. The pork was tender and juicy and it paired excellently with the spring pancake. The dumplings and the beef noodle soup were solid as well. The seaweed salad was average - so I would probably skip that next time we come. Overall, extremely solid meal. I was a huge fan of All In Cafe, so I was really shocked they closed. The food there was amazing. In all honesty the food here didn't appeal to me as much as All In Cafe but I decided to give it a shot. Food: I tried the braised beef noodle soup. The beef was at a perfect texture. The soup was good (not amazing but good). The noodles would have been better if it had a slight aldente texture. The bok choy was too undercooked. Not a big deal if youre into hole in the wall restaurants. A few things I noticed. They opened at 11am and I was probably the 2nd/3rd customer of the day. The tables, chairs, and floors were dirty. Awesome noodles with large portions and very reasonable prices. Run by nice mom and pop and teenage son. Cats ears were a chewy delight. Rice with cold skin noodles sounded fascinating. But I was disappointed at first since it turned out just to be beef chow fun. But it turned out great because it was a little spicy which made it deliciously different. And somehow the noodles themselves were a little different--not sure what but they appeared lighter and a little more translucent. I saw that this place recently changed to a new restaurant and came for Saturday lunch. We ordered the braised beef noodle and pan fried dumpling (3 flavor). The noodles were great bang for your buck ($13) and had chewy noodles and tender beef - overall soup flavor was mild. The waitress was attentive, but food came out somewhat slow. Interior sat quite a few tables, but the fan that was directly above me made the lights flicker a lot, and was very distracting. A literal Mom and Pop shop with very friendly and speedy service is where I had a very fresh, delicious, hearty and affordable bowl of Beef Noodles ($13). The word to describe this place is Fresh. The noodles were freshly made to order during my visit. The meats are either hand minced in dumplings, or succulently stewed to perfection as with my melt-in-your-mouth beef.
