Tang Gong in Arcadia is a great option for dinner if you're looking for something that feels a little special without spending a fortune. I haven't tried their dim sum yet, but I've heard it's good and reasonably priced, which makes me want to come back during the day. We came for dinner and ordered the king crab and it was so good. Fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The rest of the dishes were just as satisfying and everything came out well prepared and hot. What really stood out was how affordable it was for the quality and the portion sizes. They have a lot of dinner specials, so it's easy to put together a full table without the bill getting out of hand. Overall a solid spot for a group dinner in the Arcadia area. Great value, tasty food, and now I actually want to come back to try the dim sum next time.

The four of us enjoyed dim sum here on a Sunday morning. We were seated right at 9:30am, and by the time we left around 12:30pm, the place was buzzing! It was the perfect spot to catch up and enjoy a leisurely meal together. We probably ordered around 10 dishes, and some highlights were the bean curd roll, chicken feet, sponge cake, osmanthus jelly, and my new favorite--the sweet potato balls with melted salted egg. Definitely eat those fresh while they're hot! It was also great to see the brown sugar and rice flour pudding with sweet red beans, it brings back such nostalgia. (Put Chai Gou) On weekends, all dishes are $5.99, which makes tallying the bill super easy. My friend enjoyed the food so much that she grabbed a few takeout dishes for her family. The servers were friendly, and if you need anything, just wave a waiter over, they're quick to bring sauces or refill teapots. This is a fantastic spot for dim sum, and I'm sure their dinner menu is just as good.

I'm surprised this place has the overall rating of 3 stars. The food was very good but I'm only rating off the dim sum items we had. Portions were large, like I was surprised by how big the shrimp dumplings were. So much shrimp filling. Service was relatively nice compared to most Chinese spots. Very attentive and staff was mostly Cantonese. Egg tarts were the best item in my opinion and more like Portuguese style with how thick they are. Crust is flaky in a good way. Note there was one lady who was not great at cutting the dim sum items. We ordered the stuffed eggplant with shrimp and the way she cut the dish splattered sauce all over my fiance's shirt. But that dish was very tasty and more unique.

First time having dim sum here! First off, the dim sum menu is really hard to read because it's in black and white so it was hard to tell what you're ordering based on pictures. We ended up ordering 8 dishes as a family of 4. Food came pretty quickly and I loved how big the pieces of dim sum are. Taste wise, some dishes were a hit and some were a miss. For example, the chicken feet were a miss. It lacked flavor and wasn't hot enough. The steamed rice rolls with the Chinese donut was also a miss because the donut was soggy and didn't taste fresh. I really enjoyed the French style bbq pork buns and siu mai though! Prices were pretty reasonable. I will definitely be back for dim sum again in the future.

We went for dim-sum and the food was pretty good! Th prices were reasonable. We had 8 people and we ordered 23 items! We ordered lobster noodles, ha-gow, purple yam dessert, char-siu bao, tofu wrap, thousand year old egg congee, veggies, fried taro cake, turnip cake, red bean pastry, crunchy taro pastry, flat noodles with beef, steamed minced beef meat balls, lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, braised tofu, and so much more! The place is large with high ceiling. It was noisy like most Chinese restaurants. We had fun! As for service, you just have to wave and flag down the servers. That's mostly expected at large noisy Chinese restaurants. Free parking outside.

Ambiance! 4/5! Service 4/5! Food 3.5! Ok first time here and prices are up! I mean inflation sucks. Ok well we ordered Dim Sum plus Yang Chow fried rice! Chicken feet 5/5 Shrimp ha gow 4.5/5 Shrimp fun Cheung 3/5 the shrimp wasn't that fresh but it was acceptable The yang chow fried rice would've been 4/5! Just wanted a tiny bit more salt, but that shrimp they threw in there made it a 3/5 It just wasn't fresh and you know that ocean fishy smell that shouldn't be there? Was there in the shrimp Roasted duck 4/5, portion 3/5 Sui Mai 3.5/5 rather large and meaty! Decent Bbq pork pastry 3.5/5 Fried Egg rolls 3.5/5 You know it's average! I didn't hate it I didn't love it, if my parents liked it here, we come back, so we will. It's not top rated Michelin star status but it will do near home! Had better and had worse! So this was ok!

I've been hearing about Tang Gong for dim sum for a while after they remodeled. We ordered a bunch of dim sum items for a group of 7. The food came relatively quickly. Here are some of my favorites: braised tofu skin roll with abalone sauce abalone sticky rice in lotus leaf famous BBQ pork puff All the food we ordered were tasty. However, I was disappointed that some of the dim sum items, especially the fried ones were room tempeture and not even warm when it came to the table. Overall, the food was decent. The service was a little slow. We see most first generation Chinese people at the restaurant so we can assume it's authentic. All dim sum items are $5.39 M-F, and $5.99 on Sat. Sun. and holidays. They also do not charge tea per person. It's a relatively good deal in SGV.

Overall Experience - 8/10 - This place had generally good dim sum and the prices were decent and they are currently running a special where there is no per-person charge and all the sizes of the dim sum were a flat rate price for weekends and a flat rate price for weekends. The restaurant was large and spacious and had ample parking in the large shopping plaza. The restaurant did not have much of a long wait when I visited it with my family. Food - The food was pretty decent for a dim sum place and in the nearby area close to where my parents lived. The preserved egg porridge one of the my favorites. It goes well with all the other dim sum dishes that we ordered. I feel that some of the dishes can be a bit on the saltier side. The abalone sticky rice was well balanced and interesting that they also had salted yolk in it too. The french style BBQ pork buns were nice and had a nice balance between the sweet and salty. All the other dim sum items that we ordered was also good. I was told that some of the items can be on the saltier side for dim sum dishes. Additionally, the service was pretty good and the staff were attentive to people's need. They had quite a bit of staff in the area. Overall - I would return to this restaurant because they had a decent price for dim sum at the moment and the service was pretty good. The ambience was also nice and similar to other dim sum restaurants. I would go an try some other different dishes.

We were guests at a special birthday dinner. We enjoyed all the well flavored dishes. Many dishes were artistically presented. Service was excellent. Our plates were replaced with clean ones as we finished the chicken and the lobster dishes. Longevity noodles were the last dish served. The private room brightly decorated in red & gold had two round tables perfect for seating 20-22 people. Red & gold colors for Chinese represent happiness & good fortune.

Came in during lunchtime after 5 hours of traveling from the Bay Area . We were here last summer when we visited and my parents liked their food so we had to come back. Service was great and food was good. Reasonable prices. The restaurant was nicely decorated and very clean. Will be back when we visit LA again.

First, this place was Dou Lao Fang and I believe the name changed to Tang Gong about a month ago? And, this review is just for the hot pot as I've done the hot pot a few times before. Price went from $29 to $30 but the hot pot menu still says Dou Lao Fang (but the dim sum menu says Tang Gong). So, all the hot pot items remain unchanged and it's still a good deal for $30 per person which includes soft drinks or plum juice. And, no time limit. As mentioned in my hot pot reviews for Dou Lao Fang, they have the fresh fish and shrimp paste which makes them stand above other places that serve the frozen fish balls. And, they have the satay sauce that I need for hot pot. Check out my pics!

I went to this restaurant for the first time five months ago and I loved it. I have been back to this place several more times. Each time I came back, the service got worst each time. The latest visit was on Labor Day. I knew there would be a lot of people so I opted to do take out instead of dining in. When I walked in there were still many tables open. No waiting list yet for seating. Even under this circumstance the wait staff simply ignored me. I finally placed my take out order. The order took 40 minutes! And I had to follow up with the wait staff three times. The food was still good but the service is terrible. I think they don't have enough staff to serve the large number of customers they have.

Compared to many traditional dim sum restaurants, this one offers a more intimate dining experience. Instead of servers pushing carts around the dining room, you simply mark your selections on a paper order sheet. Occasionally, someone will still come by with freshly steamed buns or specialty items to see if you'd like any. The restaurant was clean, the service was efficient, and our food arrived quickly. If you're planning to visit on a Saturday, I'd recommend arriving before noon to beat the lunch rush. Also I noticed they had a couple of private rooms on the way to the restroom. One thing that really stood out was the impressive variety of buns and dumplings. There were so many different options that I found myself taking more photos than mental notes! While I'm not enough of a dim sum expert to remember all the names, I've enjoyed dim sum throughout my life, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Overall, Capital Seafood is a solid choice if you're looking for quality dim sum in a comfortable, relaxed setting.

I was especially excited because it's listed in the Michelin Guide, so I came in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The restaurant wasn't completely packed when we arrived, but the service was much slower than expected. There were several empty tables, yet we still waited about five minutes for one to be cleaned before being seated. They also charge $2.20 per person for tea service, which isn't unusual for dim sum restaurants, but it's something to keep in mind. We ordered quite a few dishes to get a good feel for the menu. The Savory Deep Fried Chinese Donut filled with shrimp paste ($18.80) was good, but I didn't think it justified the price. The ox omasum in XO sauce ($7.38) was solid, but nothing particularly memorable. The shrimp rice noodle roll ($8.98) was my favorite dish of the meal. The rice noodle had a great bouncy texture, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and everything paired well with the sweet soy sauce. The French baked BBQ pork buns ($6.38) were tasty, but I have to agree with previous reviewers that I still prefer the version from Tim Ho Wan. The steamed chicken feet ($7.38) ended up being our second favorite. The chicken feet were noticeably larger than what you usually get at dim sum restaurants, with plenty of tender skin, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf ($7.38) was probably our third favorite. It had a great balance of sticky rice and meat filling, so every bite felt satisfying. The shrimp and pork dumplings ($7.38) and the shrimp shumai with black truffle ($7.38) were both just okay. They weren't bad, but they also didn't stand out compared to other dim sum spots in the area. We also ordered the stir-fried beef chow fun ($18.80). The flavor was excellent and had plenty of wok hei, but the portion was disappointing. There were far more bean sprouts than noodles, which made the dish feel a little skimpy for the price. Service was honestly the weakest part of the experience. It was obvious the restaurant was understaffed. The servers were constantly running from table to table and doing their best, but there simply weren't enough of them to keep up with the dining room. The restaurant itself has a modern interior, and they had the World Cup match between Spain and Belgium playing on the TVs during our visit. Like most traditional dim sum restaurants, it was pretty loud, and we definitely had to raise our voices just to have a conversation. Parking can be challenging during the lunch rush and on weekends, but there is a fairly large free parking lot shared with the surrounding businesses. Overall, I'm glad we finally gave Chef Tony a try, but I left a bit disappointed. Being recognized by the Michelin Guide set my expectations pretty high, yet I don't think the overall experience justified the recognition. There are plenty of non-Michelin dim sum restaurants throughout the SGV that match or even surpass Chef Tony in both food quality and value. While there were a few standout dishes, especially the shrimp rice noodle rolls, chicken feet, and sticky rice, the slow service and inconsistent execution made this a one-and-done visit for my family and me.

For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. It was a bit of a pleasant surprise and immediately sets a comfortable tone. The service was quite impressive... extremely attentive, friendly, and quick. 8/10 for the food. 10/10 for the price point 10/10 for the service. The food was definitely solid for the price point. There were a few misses, but the dishes that landed were executed really well. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! Siu Mai 10/10 - Juicy, plump and perfectly executed. Definitely my favorite dish. Bean Curd Skin Roll in Abalone Sauce 9/10 - Flavorful with an excellent texture. The whole dish was well executed. Beef Chow Fun 8/10 - Solid and flavorful. The beef was tender, and the noodles had a great texture. Yangzhou Fried Rice 8/10 - The rice was moist and the seasoning was spot on. Shrimp Egg 8/10 - Soft and well seasoned. Generously portioned with very plump shrimp. Pork Chop Spicy Salt 8/10 - Crispy and slightly salted. It has a really great texture to it. Salted Fish and Chicken with Eggplant 8/10 - Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Generous portions of chicken, salty fish and eggplant. Chicken Feet 7/10 - It was solid. Not the best, but definitely not bad. House Special Crispy Shrimp Rolls 5/10 - The flavor of the shrimp was okay, but the rolls were really greasy. There were three very small rolls, definitely not my cup of tea. Chili Wonton 3/10 - By far my least favorite dish. The wonton skin tasted very flour-y, and hardly had any filling. The filling was also very bland and the chili oil was very underwhelming. By the way, the tea is free (I know, free tea at a dim sum spot).

For dishes like the beef chow fun and steamed fish for about $14.88, making it super affordable for a large group meal. The food came out fresh and hot, and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. The restaurant gets busy, on weekends but service moved pretty efficiently overall. A perk for this place is that they do have a parking garage, which made parking way less stressful compared to other busy dim sum spots in the area.

We were literally just…read morehere a couple of weeks ago, living our best noodle life, and now it's gone like a ghosted situationship!! I'm now brokenhearted!!! :( We came back ready to reunite with that soy sauce chow mein.... simple, no nonsense, just noodles, bean sprouts, and onions doing exactly what they're supposed to do: minding their business and tasting amazing!! No extra veggies crashing the party and watering things down. As it should be!! And the siu mai? Solid, dependable, and absolutely did not disappoint!!! The kind of duo you start planning your next meal around... until the restaurant disappears on you. Now I'm just here, craving noodles and questioning how a place that serves delicious food would close down!!!!

I've been coming here regularly for both breakfast and lunch ever since they took over the old Red…read moreChina space, and it has quickly become one of my go-to spots. The food is consistently good, honestly better than a lot of nearby places that charge quite a bit more. What won me over right away, though, was the breakfast combo. Two dim sum items and a hot drink for just $14 is a genuinely good deal. A cold drink is only $1 more (typical HK practice), and you can also take your drink to go for another $1, which is a nice little convenience. I'm pretty particular about milk tea, so I don't say this lightly: their half coffee, half milk tea really hits the spot every time. It's balanced, and satisfying. Beyond the combo, they also serve all the comfort staples, porridge, fried chow mein, Chinese donuts, and my personal favorite, rice noodles with a variety of fillings. It delivers the same comforting flavors you want from a casual dim sum-style breakfast, but without the inflated prices, long waits, and hectic atmosphere that have become so common at more traditional dim sum spots. This place is a solid, dependable replacement for the usual dim sum experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service is consistently warm and welcoming. The driveway can be a little tricky. It sits right next to the Taco Bell drive-through exit, separated only by a fire hydrant, so it's easy to miss or get confused when pulling in. But it's a small tradeoff for a spot that delivers this much value and consistency.
