    Crispy Chow Mein
    Brian T.

My new favorite Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant! Great flavors and substitutes well! Outdoor and indoor seating. Lots of plants as decoration. Started off with the Bi Cuon, veggie pork spring roll. Has the same texture as regular pork. The fried veggie chicken with chili lemongrass was amazing. Crispy and the texture was similar to chicken. Lots of lemongrass but wasn't overwhelming. My favorite dish of the night. The Vietnamese sweet and sour soup was also solid. Has the perfect sweet and sour flavor. The crispy chow mein was huge and came with vegetarian beef. Tasty gravy. This place has the flavors of regular Vietnamese dishes but vegetarian! Solid place if you are vegetarian or eating vegetarian for the day. Parking in this plaza does get busy. See people park at target and walk over.

    salted fish fried rice

We called ahead for to-go and ordered salted fish fried rice, lemongrass fish, papaya salad, and bbq pork roll. However, we received the banana blossom salad and fried fish w/ mango instead. We live pretty far from this side of San Jose, so we unfortunately didn't want to make the drive back to get this corrected. I think getting two dishes wrong is not as understandable because we called after and they acknowledged that they did have our correct order written down but just gave us the wrong items. Banana flower salad (2/5): I personally dislike banana flower, so that's why my rating is rather low but even so the salad was just okay. BBQ pork roll (3/5): Roll itself was not bad, but on the drier side. I didn't quite enjoy the sauce it came with. Salted fish fried rice (4.5/5): This was the only redeeming part of the meal for me. I enjoyed it a lot! Fish with mango (2.5/5): I wasn't a fan of this fish. I'm more familiar with soy fish which I prefer rather than this type which is made of a tofu skin-like texture. Of note, to-go has automatic $0.50 charge per box. Overall, go to Green Lotus instead. It is a similar vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant and their dishes are much better.

Brought the family here for dinner because it's all vegan/vegetarian dishes! Arrived at 5:50, no wait but by 6:30 it was packed inside and out. It's definitely more of an order ahead and pick it up type of deal, there's no AC inside and the everyone sitting outside looked they were sweating! We ordered a few dishes, bun rieu, bun bo hue, bun thit bi, cha gio, & nem nuong, com bo luc lac. The noodle dishes came out 1 at a time with at least 5 minutes apart. But my rice plate took about 40 minutes to come out and since everyone had finished their meals, I just took it to-go. It's definitely NOT a dine together kind of restaurant. The food was okay if you're looking for meat-substitute Vietnamese dishes but expect long waits on the 1st and 15th of the month on the Lunar calendar. I would only come back for togo orders

Veggie Pork Spring Roll (Nem cuon) tasted fresh!

Everything vegan? Or vegetarian not sure but everything was so tasty, clean, fresh and made with love! The rau mau with mung bean was the largest and most fresh tasting one I have had and didn't taste like it was full of sugar like other places!! Bun Bo hue was full of amazing ingredients and lots of fresh veggies with a side of red chilis so you have control of the spice level and it was definitely the best meatless version I've ever had. Better than the popular loving hut for sure! Definitely would come back even though I'm not even vegetarian! Prices were decent for the amount of food you get. So amazing how some of the stuff really looked like meat! Service was friendly and attentive with indoor seating food for small groups. The plaza has lots of other Asians spots and boba for dessert.

Solid vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. I am not a vegetarian person either will be vegetarian in the future but this places in terms in flavors is good! We order the canh bun which was excellent with cake crab topping but it is full flavors. The special hoa dang hot pot was okay, a lot of msg in the soup base but the topping and veggies for 2 person was generous. The salads were overly sweet to my flavors. Almost all of the salad tastes the same as they use the same sauce for it. It is too sweet, add lemons to make it more flavorful! The foods came out quickly after ordering which was good. Once you're done, pay at the cashier.

I treated my family to lunch here. We ordered so much food and the total ended up being $109 before tip. Everything was really good but my must gets are the deep fried mushroom and pho ap chao. I love how they put the crispy pho on top so it doesn't get soggy from the sauce. I enjoyed the clay pot mushroom and tofu; it came with a side of rice. I thought it was a little weird that they charge you for water. Besides that, great food, service, and prices.

    Vegan Pork Fresh Rolls. Excellent!

Price went up again. Not affordable anymore. There are better choices and nicer places.

Be careful with this restaurant. It is actually a vegetarian restaurant, but they do not clearly mention that anywhere, and even the restaurant name does not indicate that it is vegetarian, especially on Doordash. When you look at the menu, most of the dishes have names of meat dishes. I ordered bún mắm, and the description listed shrimp, pork, fish, etc. However, when the food arrived, it only contained tofu and vegetables. When I called the restaurant to ask about it, they blamed Yelp, saying the description was written by customers, not by the restaurant. When we pointed out that many other dishes on the menu also describe meat, they said those items do not actually contain meat. But those descriptions are clearly written on their menu, and I even took photos of it here. All of the dish names on their menu sound like regular meat dishes. No vegetarian customer would order food named beef, chicken, or fish expecting it to be vegetarian.

#50 bun bi nem nuong cha gio (top) #28 mi quang (bottom)
    Minah L.

This vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant is probably my favorite given its large menu with the lesser known Viet dishes. #50 bun bi nem nuong cha gio is one of our favorites! They do not skimp out on the filling or noodles and really load a lot of flavor in one bowl. The noodles are always perfectly cooked. We come here very often and I like to try different things most of the time. General verdict is that I much prefer their noodle and rice-based dishes - their soups could use a bit more depth & flavor. Definitely also try their pennywort and grass jelly drinks - I believe they're house made and they're deliciously refreshing.

I've passed by this place countless times, curious as to what it offered in terms of vegetarian food. Trying to find parking in the plaza where it's located can be difficult sometimes, so I opt for parking at the Target nearby. I was craving vegetarian food, so I decided to finally give this place a try. To my surprise, their menu had so many options to choose from. A lot of Vietnamese favorites, all completely vegetarian-ized. I ended up ordering their Bun Hue and the Banh Beo appetizer. The presentation of the food when it arrived to the table--I was excited. And I can say, it tasted as good as it looked. While I'm not a big fan of some vegetarian meat substitutes because of the texture (such as vegetarian cha), I enjoyed my time chowing down. The soup broth of the noodles, I thought really helped to simulate the experience of eating actual Bun Bo Hue (appropriate spice level as well for me). I thought the service was excellent in a subtle way. You could tell they were happy to serve you and help you order from the menu. I was pleased by this, and I thought it lended much to the homey atmosphere of the restaurant. I'm looking forward to eating here again!

My friend and I arrived here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch around 3:30 pm! It was vegetarian spot highly recommend by our mutual friend. PARKING: Nestled in a Vietnamese plaza, parking is tight and difficult to find. We found parking by parking at the Target plaza across the street, and it was only a 2-3 minute walk to the restaurant. AMBIENCE: Loved the ambience when I walked in; it's intimate, spacious, and well furnished. Grand floral aesthetic interior with lots of plants too. Intertwining modern architecture with nature. Great spot for couples, groups, and families! My friend and I were the only ones dining at the time. SERVICE: Service was seamless and fast since we were the only ones dining. ORDERS: I ordered the Banana Flower Salad since it looked so delicious in pictures and in person. Filled with lots of leafy greens and drizzled with fish sauce- the salad was aromatic, filling, and appetizing. The giant shrimp crackers were a nice touch for that extra crunch factor. Great portion size to share or for my dinner that night. RATING: Loved this place, and i would come again for the salad.

Excellent vegan food. We tried not to over order but had a few things. The salads, spring rolls, lemongrass stir fry, and fried mushrooms were all excellent. As a meat eater this place makes it entirely possible to convert to vegan. My favorite drink here is pennywort and coconut. The drink is refreshing and healthy. Service was quick and efficient.

Insanely good plant based authentic Vietnamese food. I'm so glad I came here with my Vietnamese friend and her family otherwise I would have had no idea what to order- the menu is very confusing if you don't already know Viet food. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and every single thing was delicious. I especially liked the veggie fish in claypot and the fried rice. In general their vegetarian meats were all really great. It was a little unclear whether items were vegan or just vegetarian- on the bottom of the menu it says to let the server know if you are vegan, so I assume not everything is vegan by default. I told the server I was vegan but he did not have great english and didn't understand what we were trying to tell him. He said there was no egg in any of the dishes and the Vietnamese people with me said everything we ordered should be vegan. Overall the food was really delicious, but I highly recommend doing some research beforehand or coming here with someone who knows Vietnamese food to help you order.

I am obsessed with the crunchy net wrapping - it was the perfect crispy texture. The filling of pork and shrimp was savory and delicious. It paired well with lettuce, mint, pickled carrots, and a sweet chili sauce. I loved the spring rolls as well. They tasted super fresh and had a variety of fillings. The Chinese sausage spring roll was my absolute favorite. The salty sausage contrasted well against the clean, fresh vegetables. Every dish was a very good price. The netted egg rolls however, I'd come back for. They were crispy all throughout and the filling was well seasoned. The Banh Khot were very crispy with a nice and pleasant chew from the coconut batter. My husband loved the flavor and texture. I wasn't a huge fan of the coconut flavor being so prominent but I know that's a staple of Banh Khot batter. Next time I'd skip the regular egg rolls but I'm happy I tried them!

My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. The broth had a strange flavor and was missing the rich, hearty depth that makes Bun Bo Hue so comforting and memorable. I honestly found it surprising that a restaurant specializing in Hue cuisine would miss the mark on one of its most iconic dishes. Another thing I noticed was that the vermicelli noodles were broken into many small pieces, which made me feel like they weren't particularly fresh. It definitely affected the overall eating experience. Before leaving, I also ordered a banh canh to go. That ended up being really good, though I personally wasn't a fan of the fresh-cut noodles. By the time I got home, they had expanded quite a bit in the broth and became softer than I prefer. Overall, I enjoyed everything except the Bun Bo Hue. Portions are also gigantic and perfect for sharing. They offer a points system via FiveStars to get free food after a certain dollar amount of spend. As of 6/10, cash and credit card are now the same price. Service by the uniformed staff was efficient. The vibes from the Gen Z cashier were lit.

One of the best pho spots in the Bay Area!…read more Food: 5/5 stars. Food is very hot! Just as it should be. Their Bun Ba Hue is fire! It has spice and rich flavors. Hits the spot and doesn't disappoint! Not too many people can make this dish as it should be made and they truly did a phenomenal job! Always a go-to. Their garlic chicken wings are amazing as well. It's the best out of all their flavors offered. Can't go wrong with ordering it. Crunchy, hot, slightly sweet and garlicky. Service: 5/5 stars. Greeted and seated quickly. Environment: 5/5 stars. Clean and plenty of space between tables. Bathroom is clean and tidy.

We ordered a large bun Bo hue, a large pho luc lac, fried rice with ribeye cooked medium level (as recommended), Bo luc lac with tomato flavored rice, and a chicken pho ap chao to share amongst 3 adults and 4 kids. Everything we ordered was delicious, tasty, and the portion size were very good and perfect for sharing. I was pleasantly surprised with the pho ap chao, it was really tasty and crispy and a dish I have not tried before. We really enjoyed everything but the Bo luc lac (shaken beef) was super tender and the beef was flavorful! This is a must try in my opinion! This restaurant is clean and tidy and has cute decors of bamboo hats hung from the ceiling and remind me of being back in Vietnam again. Staffs were attentive as customers entered. Plenty of parking spaces in the plaza. I will definitely come back here for everything I tried during my visit and to try more when in the area or on the way back from Santa Cruz. This will also be a great place to grab Togo for picnics or for hiking as well! My kids are already asking to come back to the restaurant after our first time there. So glad to know of another Vietnamese restaurant that has so many yummy dishes in SJ!
