This family owned Indian market has so many things packed into their tiny market. It's super convenient to park and pop in to grab a couple things. I come here often to grab a dozen samosas that are hot and ready at the front of the store. Samosas are a perfect snack "on the go" or an appetizer to bring to an event. I find the prices to be really reasonable for bulk beans/lentils/rice. Also, their produce looks fresh and is also reassembly priced. G-F? They do carry gluten-free naan in their freezer section! Check for obscured signs stating no returns and exchanges. Do not buy kitchen ware from Indian stores because according to this store cashier, they do not allow returns or exchanges. There is no reason for not allowing exchanges of kitchen merchandise that is unopened - not used - they just don't. Please buy on Amazon where you can easily exchange and get quality reviewed items. I purchased an item from the store and was not told at time of purchases that it would not be returnable or exchangeable. There is a hand written sign nested between pots and pans but not obvious unless you are looking for it. I went home and discovered it will not work for my intended use. I came back to the store and said I made a mistake and cannot use this, can I please just exchange it for something else. The lady at the counter smiled and said no returns or exchanges. I told her that she checked me out that day I made the purchase and that she never said anything about no returns or exchanges, and to that she said you should have planned better, no store takes back kitchen ware. I said that was incorrect, then she said, Indian stores don't. Thank you, goodbye, I'm sure you have plenty of customers so losing me won't matter. read more

Don't know if this has happened to others but for the last year now every time I have bought the Sasta idli or dosa batter the container is either only half or 3/4 full. The seal doesn't seem to have been tampered but I do see syringe type of holes in the seal. I mentioned it to the checkout person there many times but he just brushes it off. I have bought the same brand batter at other stores and the container is full to the brim and does not have the holes in the seal. Good little Indian grocery store in a the sleepy shoppy center/strip mall. You can get fresh samosas, breads, and sweets in addition to produce and frozen Indian specific items. Got my kulfi pistacio ice cream, some chapati and samosas for the post on call dinner this week.. read more

I've been to this store several times over the years but this is the first time I've felt compelled to actually write a review. This store is so dirty and makes me wonder, but my biggest issue is the people who work there. Could they be more rude, unfriendly, and lack basic courtesy when interacting with customers?! This is a worst new India Bazar store I have ever been. Went twice and their service is bad to worst. Staff person is so rude and instead of answer he gives an attitude they have weekend sale and I went around 4pm. Most items were not available and the answer was it's been six hours and we are out. No kidding the sale is supposed to be for weekend and Friday they don't have any sales items. Really!!! read more

Be very careful of the billing at this store. Always take a receipt and check immediately at the counter for wrong billing before you leave. Are notorious for sticking it to you by charging for additional items and most people may not bother checking their receipts. Never leave the counter without checking your receipt for wrong billing. I have had wrong billing 4 times and had them fix it each time. read more

I'm here every single day! I am a regular and all the cashiers know me. I come here everyday mainly for fresh produce, sometimes drinks, fridge stuff and unique snacks. Just becareful what you buy. Some of the canned stuff is outdated and not taken off the shelf yet. The naan and stuff at the front of the store isn't dated nor does it have an expiration date so I don't buy those. Don't know how long it's been sitting there you know. Don't even know if those items will eventually turn blue lol. They have great prices on fresh produce. It's way cheaper here than your typical supermarket like Safeway and Savemart. I've seen prices go up though. Avocados used to be $0.99 and now it's $1.29. I don't know if it's a market rate thing or not in season thing but I haven't boughten any since. I always find myself buying bananas, mushrooms, bell peppers, broccoli, string beans, cilantro, potatoes, garlic, onions, sometimes apples and grapes. You can buy a lot with just $10. I am always shocked at how little my total is. They also have fresh somas and some other fried Indian goodies that are delivered fresh at 12pm daily. I've seen workers come on and go that's how long I've been shopping here. They have a lot of spices too. They have unique things that are imported from other countries and a lot of stuff imported from India too. I've been to the New Indian Bazaar in Milpitas and that one is much bigger but super crowded all the time with really tiny aisles only one person per aisle at a time lol. They have a ton of registers opened too. I find myself liking this one more and rather come here instead. I'm loving the low prices and if they ever go up I will forever be sad... This place gets pretty crowded when all the kids get out of karate class and their parents come here and shop. I would say 6:30pm that's when it's super crowded and the line is long with only one cashier. Overall I am a fan. I am a regular. I come here every single day. I have a million green bags that say New India Baazar at home. That's my gym bag too haha. Keep your prices low and I will forever be a patron. Asians like cheap prices you know! PS: I've found a really unique snack here. Can't say what it is but my kids LOVE it and only this place carries it!!! 5 stars for the samosas and batata vada!! 60 cents and yes that little hot box they keep them in is SUPER hot, so they taste like they were just made. I live in Oakland, but when I'm down here for work I'll get a half dozen to take home, and they reheat beautifully in the toaster oven. I've found that they get the samosas in around 11a.m., and there are usually some left by late afternoon if you're lucky. They come with tasty chutney too. Produce also looks good, and Indian ingredient selection looks legit. read more

Awww yea! Love this place. You can get lovely British Cadbury bars for a reasonable price. They've also got Mars bars (Milky Way for the Americans) right out of India. I sometimes miss Indian snacks and I find that when I want to make poha, it's some of the more reasonably priced poha I can find in the Bay Area. Wonderful fresh veggies - truly some of the cheapest in the Bay Area as well. I've found that if I go to the Indian markets, my produce is always the best I can get. I wish I could get fresh basil at a reasonable price...grrr. I have yet to try their samosas...I always think they will be cold because that hot box doesn't look like it would hold much heat. Great selection but could the check out process get anymore slower, confusing or stupid. Some items can be scanned, some not found, some call the other guy to ask the price and some you have to enter the whole damn product! You can grow old quickly waiting to check out if you have more than one item! May be prudent to move into this century for a more efficient check out process!!! read more

I have bought groceries here off and on for a few years because I am in that strip mall a lot for my child's extra curricular activities and it was a convenient and friendly place. They also sold organic lentils and beans which were not easy to come by in most other stores. But, I decided to write a poor review today because of my most recent poor experience which I cannot ignore. This place has very poor hygiene (last week on 01/I4/16, I saw mouse droppings on the aisle where the packaged Indian snacks and cookies are shelved and fruit flies were swarming around the produce section). I put every item that I had placed in my shopping cart (which are not the cleanest either) back on the shelves and walked away. In the past, I have bought a big bag of organic whole wheat flour (Veer brand) from them and found it infested with moths. I urge shoppers to do a visual inspection of any packaged item for insects, moths etc before you buy. Pros: The people working there are really nice and extremely helpful. Location is very convenient. The samosas were some of the best in the bay area (decided to not shop there any more, but they taste very authentic). read more

Bought paav for paav bhaji. Opened the package only to find that the bread was moldy. Frozen samosa package had been opened. All the samosas were stale and had probably been left out. The store does not seem to care about quality or food safety. Once saw a roach too in their produce section. 0 star. read more

Good selection of Indian grocery items, vegetables are hit/miss depending on whether they had a fresh batch recently or not. Free tea!! And you can buy ready to go food inside the store. Pretty bad crowd and some of the workers don't have the basic etiquette (read manners) but some of them are great and friendly. Great ready to eat hot samosas w/ the sauce for sale, just $0.60 each. The vegetables are always fresh, because they have their workers always checking for bad vegetables on the shelves. I use to only buy samosas from here, but i walked around the store and actually buy vegetables and fruits to take home w/ me now. I would go early in the morning and try to avoid going during the lunch hour because the line can get long. read more

Have been going there for a while. But lately there quality has been variable. Paid top dollar for organic 12 grade jumbo brown eggs (nature's gift)and they are totally watery. I have never had such lousy eggs/ a quick search shows this is due to older eggs or poor storage / they are not expired as per the date so it has to be the latter.
