    Bad Alphonso Mangoes.

Terrible experience buying mangoes from here. 5/10 turned out bad. I feel people should refrain buying from here.

    Narrow aisles....always feels crowded.

I liked this store but not so much anymore. What I still like: the variety...multiple options to choose from. Fresh, yummy Indian snacks (this was only available pre-COVID), Seamless checkout process. I think this was one of the first Indian stores to accept contactless payments. What I don't like: not well organized, narrow aisles, which is not really a good thing especially during COVID - you may run into people. Maintaining social distance is almost impossible! Frost over freezer glasses...have to open the door to look what is on display. They are not doing a good job on maintaining COVID protocols- given the narrow aisles- they should restrict number of people entering the store. Never seen sanitizer available for use. I still visit once in a while if I am in the neighborhood, but it is definitely not my go-to Indian grocery store.

This is an absolute slam dunk staple for South Asian/Indian/Pakistani groceries of all kinds, e.g. dry goods/snacks (Haldirams), tons and tons of hard to find produce, at pretty decent prices, fruits also hard to find elsewhere, and the in season varieties of mangoes are a sight. I'm not talking the local run of the mill Manila mangoes. Nope ... hold on to your hat, because I'm here to tell you they sell Alphonsos, by the box, no less. Yes, they're $45 bucks a box of dozen, but still, be real, where else are you gonna find a Alphonso. And yes, they also have Kesar variety as well as Kent, and other varieties I've barely heard of. It's a warehouse of groceries and everything else you'd want from a store of this calibre, a bit of a madhouse with carts zooming everywhere and it seems they never have a slow day, so whether you're there on a weekend or weekday, it likely busy. The psychic ad at the front entrance cracks me up because it's just so typical of the culture, not sure how a psychic is gonna help depression, I was tempted to put a little sign that said, "Maybe try psychotherapy?" Lol but I get it, it's deep in the culture so to be culturally sensitive, especially being Indian, I can't be too cynical. We scored big on Alphonsos and Caesars today, some of which I couldn't resist buying for my brother and sister in law. btw, if you call them with a question, you're likely not gonna get a straight answer (if they pick up at all), it's best to go down there and investigate their wares :-)

This is mainly a COVID-19 review in which social distancing is not enforced. I went Friday evening and it was super crowded! There is this one lady who orders the staff to restock and she is super mean. Yells at customers too. The staff is also restocking shelves while customers are inside. People are running their carts over food etc. Not to mention their bathroom is super dirty. Not sure how the passed any COVID health regulations!

Do not buy Alphonso mangoes from this crappy place. All the mangoes that come out of the box have always gone bad. Please check the photos for proof. They exhorbitantly charge 65$ for a box which only has 10 mangoes. We have tried their box 3 times to give it a chance but no luck on any attempts. They do not give refunds for these bad quality products and they want us to bring the bad mangoes to them once they are cut. Hopeless service. Please do not waste time and money in this store.

Live little international stores with blaring AM music from blown out speakers!! We recognize the international ambience from that! Kind of like watching MASH reruns! This place offers super cheap prices on hair die! Loads of useful utensils and fresh fruit and vegetables plus bags of frozen vegetables and such as well. All kinds of spices and speciality items from the middle east and India! Your typical small but packed foreign market with a little bit of everything you need for your cultural cooking style. I will go back , there's always something useful you can find upon exploration in a small market like this!

Right before the final payment screen, the system froze. There were no staff members around to help, so I had no choice but to leave and get in line for a crowded cashier-assisted register. After finally paying there, the receipt printer wouldn't print my receipt. A staff member called someone who seemed to be a manager to fix it, but nothing worked. The manager just shrugged and said, "I can do nothing." Knowing that receipts can be printed from the back office, I politely asked if they could do that for me. The manager made an obvious face of disgust. To make matters worse, both the cashier and the manager repeatedly interrogated me--asking three times each--if I really needed a receipt, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. In the end, there was no apology, no "Thank you for waiting," and the manager practically threw the printed receipt at me. As a customer, being treated with such rudeness and disrespect is completely unacceptable. I will definitely think twice before coming back to this location.

They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

We have purchased a wok from here, twice, and they were reasonably priced (around $35 if I recall), and we got a spare lid for a reasonable price as well. Mega is clearly far and away the best Asian market in the Bay area... having said that, I do have…read moresome complaints but will give it the 5 stars it deserves. Let's start with the good, or I should say best. The sashimi here is the best of any Asian market bar none. You could even say better than some Sushi restaurants (I won't name them). Even some of the newer Asian markets like T&T have disgusting sashimi... to the point you can taste the ice bc they hadn't fully defrosted it. The only nit I have is bruh... stop putting the frickin plastic sauce packets right on top of the fish. Why? Why would you do that? Stop it. Come on. Why in the actual F would you do that? Ok, I know this sounds more like complaints but I do really like Mega Mart to be clear. 2 other issues: #1. Dude... what're you guys doing with the panchan? When did you start adding so much sugar and sugaring the F out of the panchan. This is not how it should be. Old Korean grandmas are literally turning in their graves with this sacrilege. Maybe panchan sales are falling, but you can be damn sure I will never buy this again with the amount of sugar you guys add. Like why? Why 50% sugar... seriously, this panchan candy bar nonsense makes no sense! #2. What happened to organic natto? Like bruh. You only had 1 brand left that was organic. Sure I could go to Nijiya and have a choice of 2, but I'm disappointed you guys stopped carrying the only organic natto you had.

I dropped by for my usual mushroom run and decided to peruse the aisles. I was excited to see that they now have a "Vegan Vegetable Mandu" offering in the hot food section. I had to grab both options to test them out : Unlimeat Kimchi Mandoo and Unlimeat Vegetable Mandoo. Each package has 8 pieces and a packet of shoyu. After trying both, the kimchi version won me over a bit more. The other option is lighter in flavor, and I'm a fan of bold and spicy food. Adding the shoyu helps, but I could easily eat all the kimchi ones alone. I'm not sure I'd get them often, but I like having an option in the grab and go section for when I'm short on time and hungry. They also added some Pulmone vegan-friendly microwave dumplings to the frozen section, so I got those too. I noticed some plant-based bulgogi kimbap in the frozen section, but I decided to skip them because I'm iffy about the textures of frozen kimbap. I love when grocery stores have vegan-friendly options! I hope this means they'll start adding more vegan-friendly options in the grab and go hot food section. A tofu and veggie rice bowl would be nice!

Beef, Kofta & Chicken: Super flavorful and packed with spices, with an amazing grilled/charred flavor. I loved being able to build my own wrap with all the different veggies and sauces! Hawawshi Traditional (Egyptian Meat Pie): Similar to arayes, but even more flavorful and juicy. It comes generously stuffed, and the arugula paired perfectly with it.
