But for the price of the OR here which is only $20.50 for six pieces, it's really very good value and worth it. When I picked up a to-go order a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a patron having a bowl of Cioppino, and I have very little resistance to that. So a group of us came for a lunch time feast: my Cioppino (with pasta), a lobster roll, a clam bucket, and a combo oyster-prawn-fish. Boy were we happily satisfied afterward. Instead of crab pieces (with shell), they dump a lump of crab meat on top of the Cioppino bowl. Easier to eat but less authentic. Also, there were broken shells and one unopened mussel. I had known of their DTSJ location, but didn't know this location has been around for years as well! Very decent fish & chips (3 piece fish plus chips for 18 bucks which came out to 21 bucks total with tax). I was impressed that the it stayed crispy and did not get soggy (I left the container open). The chips (fries) were seasoned and mostly still crispy as well. There is street parking and a parking lot in the back as well. Even had 2 comfy looking tables and seats outside. The main draw is the fish and chips and these are closer to American style than they are to UK. The fries are a nice medium cut and were great. Fish was slightly over fried but still tasted good. We got 3 pieces of fish for a family of 4 and while it was enough fish there weren't enough fries, next time we would get 2 orders. Sea bass: grilled with a paprika blend. The City Fish in Cupertino is my first visit! I had been craving for some fried fish, but I opted to balance out my meal--just a little bit. For starters, I ordered the Clam Strips (w/Fries). The Clam and Fries were nice 'n' hot. The appetizer was exactly how I imagined it would be. The City Fish tarter and cocktail sauces offered some "help". This dish somewhat, prepped my palate. Solid 3 stars. I ordered the Ciabatta Crab from the menu because I was also craving something "luscious" that would pair well with my fried foods. This sandwich had lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo and bacon. The described ingredients were definitely in my sandwich, but it needed something more to tie it together. It's not a bad sandwich, and, so I rate it a solid 3 stars. Lastly, I received my a la carte piece of Fried Fish. City Fish claims to use Alaskan Pollock. For $5.45, City Fish gives you a large, impressive piece of fried fish! On a good note there were no signs of heavy oil or evidence of uneven batter coating my piece. My fish even had that nice "curved" treatment :) Though City Fish fried the fish to perfection, there was nothing boastful about the seasoning or the flesh of this Pollock. While this fish looked impressive, it tasted just "simple". The fried fish isn't "bad" for its value, but I could only rate this a solid 3 stars. Two different staff members served me the bill and provided the check and the doggie bag stuff. Both servers were solid workers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is some outdoor seating for up to 4 people. I love their food, I love how quick their service is and the staff is very attentive to you and explains the specials of the day very well. The fish pieces are huge and a single person would be totally full from a 2 piece fish and chips. The fish and chips were well fried and were still crispy even though I ordered my food to-go. They were generous with the tarter sauce and vinegar, which I appreciated, but I personally didn't love the taste of the tarter sauce. It had maybe carrots or something in it and I wish it were more tangy. It gets the job done but I might make my own next time. I also got a cup of clam chowder. He took my phone order and was polite and courteous without "doing too much." He was the one to also ring me up and hand me my order and he was, again, chill but also super nice. He did a great job. It would be unfair to not share the low point of my experience, even though I hate putting people on blast. While I was picking up my order, there were two female employees standing behind Javi behind the register. One of the ladies was braiding the other ones hair. In food service it's really important not to touch your hair - you should be ready to work before you arrive, or head to the bathroom to take care of any grooming. In the moment I just tried to shrug it off but then the lady braiding the hair sprayed some kind of hair product to finish things off, and I later realized my food was sitting on the counter right next to them. It really disturbed me how they didn't see their behavior as inappropriate and it didn't bother them at all that I was being rung up while they were doing this. I'm a little torn about whether or not I would return. Again, the service from Javi was great and the fish and chips were definitely good - no complaints there. However I didn't love everything I got with my meal and I'm not sure how seriously they take cleanliness given the employees doing their hair in the front. read more

Been to this place many times and have given up on it. My wife is English and loves Fish and Chips but every time we have it we end up with upset stomachs and "downstream" issues. This happens consistently so there must be something in there oil or batter that sets us off. Having said that, there are many offerings that are not fried and our neighbor absolutely loves this place and never has issues, so I am not not recommending it... just suggesting that if you have a sensitive stomach, you might want to skip the fish and chips. I went for dinner around 7PM on a weekday and there were plenty of tables. Plus, there's a shared parking lot behind the building, which makes it swinging by super convenient. Crab Sandwich (4.25/5): They were extremely generous with the amount of crab and I got a towering sandwich.
