First call was a pick up order, two people pick up the phone and a older dude (shorter losing hair) just yells at the lady(Kris)who also picked up " you got it, you got it, you got it, you got it! " waiting for the f-bomb. Order cheeseburger add bacon (had to clarify 3 times) and curly fries..... that's it. This bar has been open for dine in since the beginning of the pandemic with no concern for public health or safety mainly serving men over the age of 50 in the extremely vulnerable percentage of the population. The owner has little to no cleaning procedures in place & is calling her regulars under the table to report contact tracing while leaving her business open. She also regularly serves customers well beyond their limit and then lets them drive home from her establishment. We've unfortunately lost a lot of quality restaurants and businesses in this pandemic but losing this one would not be a loss. Yesterday while driving through Campbell with a friend, we both got kinda hungry so we decided to look for someplace to eat. Not knowing the area too well, I decided to rely on my trusty Magellan GPS. These things are never wrong right? So I load up nearby restaurants Chinese Food....and it directs me to a spot just 0.1miles away! Hurray! Not far to go at all! So we turn the car down the instructed directions....and arrive at......an empty parking apartment parking lot. WTF?!?!?? Well there goes that whole trusty part. Deciding to give the GPS a second chance, I try the next closest Chinese restaurant location. Another 0.1 miles away! Ok this ain't so bad! So off we go.....only to arrive at a closed restaurant. AHHH! WTF GPS!?!?!? Epic fail! Deciding our odds of driving down Hamilton and randomly finding a restaurant was better than using the GPS, we did just that. Whereupon we found New Jersey's Sports Bar. Apparently in the middle of nowhere. From the outside, the place looks a bit more like a dive than a kicking place. Having gone there at 4pm, the place was also pretty empty aside from a few regular patrons nursing their beers and playing what appeared to be some form of a dice game. I ordered a combo cheese steak with regular fries. Which came out to around $11-12. Friend ordered some other type of cheese steak for around the same price but with large garlic fries. I paid with a credit card which apparently isn't a popular payment method here. Because the guy at the counter swiped it for like 10mins straight trying to get the machine to work. *sighs* I hope I didn't get charged 50 times for two cheese steaks. Although the place was deserted, it took them about 15-20mins to make our food. However upon receiving it, it was definitely worth the wait. The cheese steaks were HUGE. I wish I took a picture but unfortunately I was too hungry to do anything else but chow down. About 5mins later our order of fries shows up and my friend's large garlic fries order is HUGE. Literally there were more fries than cheese steak! And that's saying a lot considering their cheese steaks are PACKED! My only real complaint aside from the fact that the guy didn't seem to know how to operate the credit card machine was that the buns were on the softer side. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but made the cheese steak hard to hold as it kept falling apart. I eventually just resorted to using a fork. We stayed in the establishment and chatted till about 6:30pm. Around which point the place got really packed. I ordered the original cheesesteak along with a side or mozzarella sticks for my co-worker. She really liked them. As for my cheesesteak sanwich, it was really, REALLY good!!! It was STUFFED with meat! They are really generous with their portions. For the price, I was very satisfied! VERY solid 4 star. My death row meal is a cheesesteak, so I am always on the hunt for a good one. The sign outside reads "cheesesteaks" so despite my diet, we went on MLK day. (side note -I was recently at Ammato's but it was way too salty and way to bready.) An unassuming joint inside - I pictured more of a Britannia Arms bar/restaurant set up. But this is "order at the counter" and they bring it to you (there is a small 10 person bar on the left. Plenty of screens with games on - but I was there for the cheesesteak. We ordered one mushroom cheesesteak and an order of potato skins (they looks really good in the Yelp photos) - we casually mentioned we were splitting to the cashier. The cheese steak came out first and not only did they split it for us - they gave us 2 bags of chips (I assume a cheese steak only comes with one bag - so just a nice touch). It was a solid sandwich - overflowing with meat (unlike the Cheesesteak Shop mini-chain which I like - but find they are skimpy on the meat unless you "king it") . The sandwich was super-hot, the meat was nicely chopped, and had good flavor, the roll was soft - YUM. The potato skins were a real surprise, I would venture they make the skins in-house (rather than buying them frozen) they were real potato halves hollowed out and lightly fried (still very potato-y) with lots of cheese, and 3 sauces - sour cream, ranch and salsa. I could quibble that I would have preferred the bacon to be in bigger/crispier chunks (it was pretty pulverized) but a super solid effort. read more

Stumbled into this spot after seeing the local Campbell FB page post about it. Yum!! We walked in and noticed so many kind faces. Food is solid (we ordered the Bad Daddy and mushroom cheesesteaks) and the servers were so awesome! Fountain drinks come with complimentary refills too. Before it was the "New Jersey's", this used to be the old Adam's Apple bar in Campbell. After their re-branding, my brother and I went in to give New Jersey's a try. They had sports memorabilia on the walls, the game on the TV, and the beers were flowing like wine. All that was left was to try the food. We will never forget what happened next. The menu offered a few different types of items, from burgers to quesadillas to pizzas. We weren't exactly starving, so we ordered a medium cheese pizza to split. After roughly 20 minutes, our order arrived: The pizza they placed on the table was neon yellow. Banana yellow. Crayon yellow. Yield-sign yellow. I mean. REALLY freaking yellow. And it's because, as we came to find out, the pizza they served us was topped with sharp cheddar cheese, instead of traditional mozzarella. We were dumbfounded. Neither of us had ever seen anything like it. So we asked the waitress about it and she claimed "that's just how it came." We stared at it for a few seconds, unsure of what to do, and eventually figured, hey, if that's how they serve it, maybe it's good? Might as well give it a shot. No. Not good. Gross. REALLY gross. Neither of us could summon the strength to power through a single slice. The waitress asked if she could box it up for us, but we refused. Cheddar cheese pizzas should only frequent one's menu in the deepest pits of hell. We left the restaurant feeling ripped off and disappointed. Since then, I've had a friend (who's a career waitress) work at the New Jersey's. The pizzas that were served while she was there did not come standard with yellow cheese. Which leads me to believe that the restaurant had either run out of mozzarella and decided to make due with what they had... or we just had an extremely confused encounter between our waitress and our cook. Either way, I find it grossly unacceptable for the server at this place to have deemed it appropriate to green light a neon yellow pizza for us, rather than returning to the table and saying something simple like, "Just so you guys know... our pizzas are topped with cheddar, instead of mozz." We obviously would have ordered something different had we known what sort of unholy, bastardized, mutant pie was coming our way. We still talk about the cheddar cheese pizza to this day, whenever anybody brings up New Jerseys. Never again. read more

Fries and onion rings stay crispy and are always hot when we get them. It's about 7 miles away from our home and the food is always piping hot. Campbell seems to have a lot of interesting places to go to and New Jersey's is no exception a sport bar and a restaurant that serves great food, drinks and games as will as Happy Hours for those who want to chill out. This is more of a laid back sport bar Bro and I usually spend Sunday mornings at a breakfast diner or at the gym. Traffic was very light mid morning and able to find a parking space right in front and upon arriving we were greeted by the bartender and server both extremely polite and friendly. Going over the menu I order an original cheese steak and that came with chips for $7.75 Bro order the twice the burgers at $7.25 with regular fries for $3.25 along with drinks that came with refill. Wait time was less than 10 minutes and he brought over our food and drinks. My God they don't skimp on anything and damn are they generous for what you get. Bro and I finished off the fries and that was regular size I can't image what large will be like. His twice burgers was huge not quite the same size as you get at Nation's Giant burger. We've been here for nearly an hour and a half having a great time watching the games chatting with the bartender almost wish we never had to leave, but they do have happy hours from 3 to 6 Monday thru Friday. read more

Good place to watch sport games!! We came here warriors' game night. The game started at 6:00 and we called and made a reservation around 5:30. Still tables available. The place is pretty low key. Sometimes employees are watching TV and I cannot tell which person is working here. Haha. I like this atmosphere a lot. TVs are everywhere. Food is good too. Just a typical bar, but we went because we wanted to be in a crowd of Eagles fans to watch the game. It was recommended that we call and make reservations. So we did a week ahead of time, and I even verified it 3 hours before game time. Drove all the way to the bar with friends, got there about 30 minutes before game time and checked in at the bar. The man working referred us to a older man with glasses that was in charge of that. I politely asked if he knew where our table was and he said "I am not paid enough to handle your **expletive** issues". I looked back at the man taking orders and said, he isn't handling that. The bartender then asked if she could help. I said "I talked to you a couple hours ago about making sure that the owner has reserved my table?" She said, "its too crowded, the owner is gone and I didn't bother with reservations today. We are too busy". Now, I get you are busy. However, the week before we reserved a table and had no issues. Our name was taped to the table and we arrived and were shown where to sit. At the end of the game, we asked for the same table and the man we spoke to wrote it down and said we would have a reservation. The food is mediocre at best, and there are better cheesesteaks in town. We go to watch the game with fans of the same team, that is what makes it fun. All the bartender had to do was set the proper expectation level. I have no issues being told, take your chance, that is what most places say. What I DO HAVE an issue with is bringing friends with me to watch the game and having no place to sit after being told there was a reserved table. I DO HAVE an issue being forced to find another place to watch the game across town knowing we are going to miss the start of the game. You don't have to offer reservations, but when you do, stick to them. Don't promise one thing and do another. You aren't obligated to me in any way but when you say you have a table with my name on it, I make plans accordingly and expect to be able to sit at that table. I also expect when I politely ask a question, I DO NOT want to be talked to rudely, sworn at or harassed. As an owner, I would not want this older man talking down about me or my establishment. But he took his complaining right outside on the sidewalk and complained there as well about his "not being paid enough". Save yourself the trouble and eat a cheesesteak at Amato's. They are way better, and you can avoid the attitude. read more

You order your food at the counter and find yourself a seat. They bring your order to you. We ordered the mushroom cheesesteak, chili cheese fries, and wings. We also wanted an adult beverage so I ordered the lagunitas IPA, and my bf ordered a margarita. Can I just say, Kris makes a DAMN good margarita!! She makes it so fresh! My bf had 2 of those. The mushroom cheeseteak was soooo delicious!! Even if I ordered it by itself, I couldn't finish it. Very good portioned sammich. The meat was so tender!! Food can be a surprisingly tricky things oftentimes. While some of us think of it as nourishment and others live for the taste of it and don't really care what they put into their bodies, very few people actually take the time to enjoy. IMO most food is poorly cooked, bland, insipid and uninspired so it makes no difference if you enjoy it or not. This is most definitely NOT SO with a cheesesteak from New Jerseys Restaurant. I am not an expert on cheesesteaks and I have only eaten at the cheesesteak restaurants recommended on Yelp! that are supposed to be the best, but whereas the best you can say about those places is they offer you good food the cheesesteak here is a veritable EXPERIENCE. At first glance it looks like it doesn't offer much. It looks small and compact in the butcher paper and I was honestly disappointed at this point in time. But when I peeled back the paper WHOA! WHAT A SURPRISE. There was a piping hot sandwich filled to the brim with delicious steak and cheese on one of the softest rolls of bread ever. I took a bite and it transported me to another place ( food nirvana? ) and I was there for the next 5 minutes. This was easily the best cheesesteak I have had so far, nothing else can compare. I DON'T want a cheesesteak from anywhere else after eating this one. It is GOOOD and I really can't say much else except I won't be eating it often because I want to remember how good it really is. I called and ordered several times from this place and often time they made me wait on the phone for over 20 minutes and just hung up. A couple of times they told me the order would take 1 hour, and when I came to pick up my order an hour later they forgot to make it. That happened twice and both orders were placed over the phone. I have had a history with Jersey's since I was a little kid. My father was a long time bartender there back from the days when they were on Winchester BLVD in Campbell, CA. When I would go, and visit, Jersey's was the spot to have the video games rigged, all the food I could handle. When I moved to the Campbell back in 1996, it was the same thing all over. Rigging video games, eating all the food, and having a blast which became one of my true hangouts in the South Bay from that time in 1996, to when I moved back to my hometown (Sacramento) in 2002. I have been to new location (found out it moved years back), and although it doesn't have the same things for me like the WInchester location, it still does the trick for me. The menu has expanded, along with a new look, but like I said, it still does the job. If you are in the area, make sure you go check out Jersey's. I just had dinner at Jersey's. The cheesesteak roll was too soft and the cheesesteak fell apart when eating it. I ate outside and they were people smoking right in front of the no smoking sign. I don't think the management should allow that. The cheesesteak itself was good and if it was in a harder roll it would be even better. Overall I think I will continue to go to Amato's.
