I'd normally give this place a 5 star but the last couple times I've have been here was the worst. My pregnant cravings called for this place hoping for a better experience then the last. My salad came with tomatoes which i made clear i didn't want, potato skins taste old like they gave us an order someone didn't want a couple hours before. Our hotel was 10min away there's no way they should be so cold oh and no damn forks so I guess we're expected to eat with our hands. I was in the front of my residence, checking my Yelp bookmarks to see where I can eat and watch the game at the same time. I Yelped, called, and scored! I wish I knew about this place long before..... If there is one thing I love, it's cheesesteaks. Now I must have burned over 1k calories today and since I have not had anything in my tummy, I felt inclined to reward myself; my weight achievement, the 800 calories I burned at the gym in the morning, completing the mud run, and saved hella money by shopping at Grocery Outlet. The high chair was retrieved for me, the owner, she asked for the thing to be places away from the draft from the front door (she is super nice!!!), the server watched the boy for me whilst I had to visit the ladies' room, my food took less than 12 minutes to arrive, and my soft drink was refilled 3x. I ordered the Bad Daddy cheesesteak. It is a BBQ cheesesteak w/ white American on a soft roll. The meat was flavorful and tender and the roll was soft but held together well w/ all the meat and fixings. I ordered a small order of the half and half (fries and onion rings), and an order of jalapeño poppers. Who did I order for? Just for me, myself, and I. The boy had like 2 fries but the rest was cleaned by yours truly. I did not feel guilty. I burned over 1k calories, for goodness sakes! I earned it. This is a great place to watch the game... When I was about to leave, I told the manager and was about to say "goodnight" but before I got a chance to, she gave me a hug. I am very happy to have bookmarked this place. Yes. I am a Yelp snob.. My family comes here almost every weekend. Their food is always good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We love this place! It came with chips so no fries. The ribeye steak comes with Mayo and lettuce on the side. Flavorful and a little tough but tasty. Waitress never brought us the waters and never came by to check on us and they want tip upfront. The cheesesteak was over cooked with minimal cheese. Mushrooms were over cooked. I still leave a tip as the staff really is nice, tries hard, and the food is well prepared. The only negative I have is some items need to be repaired/replaced such as restroom tiles and some of the ceiling tiles. Overall, the restaurant and bar is kept very clean. We go every Wednesday for trivia. It's our absolute favorite place to go. There are no restrictions on the amount of people you can have on a team. The more the merrier as they always say. Diane, the owner, is so friendly and the trivia host, Teddy, is so entertaining. The staff is just wonderful too. You get a free appetizer or a pitcher of beer if you win a round and/or you can win the final prize which is a $20 voucher to be used there for food and drinks. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. You can't beat it really. This is a family style restaurant where they make you feel right at home. I've tried other trivia places but I keep coming back to New Jersey's. Come try it once and I guarantee you will be coming back week after week. Ended up here by accident. The Hash House had a long line to get in, didn't want to wait, and spotted this place right as we headed down Hamilton. It was around one on Saturday afternoon, and as we entered, were told to pick a table. The three booths along the back wall were taken, so we chose a table with a bench style seat with a view of the big screen TV's. The method of ordering is to go to the counter, pick your drinks and take a menu back to your table. The menu was extensive, including full course dinners. This qualifies it to be rightfully called a family restaurant as well as a sports bar. After making our choices, we head back to the counter, order, pay, and receive a number to place on our table. It takes around twenty minutes to be served. I had the Tri-Tip, Texas style, on a French roll. The beef was tender and juicy, with the tomatoes and lettuce tasting so fresh they could of been seemingly picked that day. The fries were tasty, but too salty. My guest had the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich with grilled onions and onion rings. Unfortunately, this piece of beef was practically raw. It would of been sent back, but after getting full with loading up on onion rings, a better plan would be to take it home, and cook it for dinner that night. There's a reason for everything. I had some free time today so I contacted a friend for lunch. He suggested Philly Cheesesteaks. I was a bit skeptical because most restaurant serving Philly Cheesesteaks suck! These other restaurants serve cheesesteaks that are bland, cooked on old grease on top of it all the meat taste age! I worked an 8-hour shift yesterday beginning at 8:30AM and ran on straight black coffee with three spoonfuls of sugar... All I wanted to do was eat when my shift ended. But my body, my bodyyyyyyyyyyy, is telling me YES!" So I let him take me out. You know that feeling when you're so hungry that you don't know exactly what you want to eat? Yeah. That was us. We ended up choosing The New Jersey's after finding out the place we originally wanted to go to closed at 5PM. It's a sports bar, so it's typical for a place like this to have sticky floors and slutty-looking women. BUT! The food truly made up for it! I ordered a burger, I totes forgot what it's called, but it's the one with the mushroom. I. Love. Mushrooms. I also got a cup of clam chowder and some garlic fries. My other half ordered a burger also and he got curly fries and mozzarella sticks to go with it. The chowder, I don't even know how to explain it. It has it's own flavor. I don't know if they use a cheese base, but it is pretty fricken' good. I've never had chowder like that in my life. Thumbs up. What I like about the garlic fries is that unlike some restaurants, they actually mix the fries with the minced garlic so that all the fries have a garlic taste to it. Other places just scoop garlic and slap it on the top and serve it to you. Two thumbs up. My burger wasn't served on a hamburger bun, they used something that looked like a roll, but not quite. It was good. I believe they use Miracle Whip for their mayo because it honestly didn't taste like mayo. It was better. When I first took a bite out of that thing, my eyes rolled back like I was possessed. You should've seen me. If I had three thumbs, I would totally give them all three! Aside from having great food, they're customer service is oh so sweet. An older lady took our order and she was nothing but friendly and patient. She said she didn't think I would even touch my burger from all the food we ordered... But I did. I eat. And I eat a lot. I wanna go back already! P.S. I had to save half of my burger for leftovers because I felt like I was pregnant with a food baby after I finished my garlic fries. When I had it this morning it was twice as good! And I ate it cold! New Jersey's serves a great cheesesteak. It comes from the same cheesesteak lineage as The Blue Chip in San Jose, both of which are respins of the original Jersey's in Campbell that also once served great cheesesteaks. Like a bother from another mother. Just like The Blue Chip and Amato's in San Jose, New Jersey's uses flat steak. New Jersey's uses the inside skirt steak cut and it's savory and delicious, nom nom nom. They are very generous with the steak, frizzled with onions and white American cheese mixed throughout and served piping hot on a fresh roll. Just in case you want to mix it up, they also offer Swiss, Cheddar, yellow American, and Jack cheeses. Basically, everything but the wiz. Extra cheese (which I highly recommend) is an additional .75 cents. The cheesesteak includes a 1oz. bag of Lay's classic chips, an original Jersey's signature. In my opinion, a sound business practice because if the cheesesteak isn't enough to convince you to purchase a beer, the tasty and salty chips will. ;) read more
