Yellow Curry, Tom kha Soup and Red Curry
    Toqa T.

This is probably the best thai food I've ever had. Everyone has to order the Tom Kha soup and the Yellow Curry. Those dishes are phenomenal. I can't stress enough how good they are! We also ordered the fried rice, sticky coconut rice red curry. The sticky rice was great! Went amazing with the curries, the texture was amazing. The red curry was pretty good too! Also very flavorful but falls ill in comparison to the yellow curry. The fried rice was alright, but I wish we just got another order of sticky rice instead. The place was pretty packed. We had to wait 15 minutes for a party of 3, and you can't call ahead or make a reservation because it's just always really busy. It makes sense why, the food is just so good! There are a lot of families eating here and pretty big parties, so it was really loud and hard to hear the people at my table. That can't be helped, and the service was still very good and they were attentive to our water and everything even though it was really busy. Definitely coming back and I've told everyone I know to come and eat here.

Bit of a wait on Friday night, took about 30 minutes for a table for 2. The service was quick and all the food came out in a timely manner as well. Started off with the fried shrimp 7/10 nice and crispy with a sweet sauce but the breading was too thick for my liking The tom yum soup with seafood was really refreshing 9/10 it had fish, squid, mussels, and shrimp -- I kept reaching for more of this!! The pad Thai was not bad but not amazing, similar to any other place you can get pad Thai at 7/10 This definitely is a place where families and friends gather for celebrations and large dinners.

I've ordered food from New Krung Thai through DoorDash lots of times, but yesterday visited the restaurant for lunch for the first time. My sister and I got there right when they opened at 11am and were seated immediately. It's a big restaurant, nicely decorated, with high ceilings and lots of tables with white tablecloths. Unfortunately, the acoustics are terrible. It quickly got incredibly loud inside when only a few more small tables of people arrived. It didn't help that one man was watching videos on his phone without using headphones. I can be pretty sensitive to noise, so maybe it wouldn't bother others as much as it did me. Fortunately, the food tasted just as good or better than when I have it delivered. I ordered Tom Kha Gai soup and yellow chicken curry with zero spiciness. The waitress asked if I wanted it as the lunch special, which seemed to be less expensive, so I said yes. Here is where things got confusing. First they brought me a small bowl of soup that looked nothing like the Tom Kha Gai I usually order. It was fantastic though. Then they brought out a large bowl of the actual Tom Kha Gai to share with my sister. Turns out the lunch special came with the soup of the day, so I didn't need to order extra soup. Anyway, both of my soups and the yellow chicken curry were excellent and there was plenty leftover for both of us to take home. It was not spicy, as I requested. My sister ordered a papaya salad, which I'd never tasted before, and it was delicious. Service was fast and the staff was friendly and attentive. If not for the noisiness of the dining room, I would give New Krung five stars. I don't think I will go back to the restaurant, but will definitely continue ordering food from them for delivery.

Food and decor are amazing Everything we had hits the make I can skip the wing, Favorable, garlicky and with lots of spice and earthy ingredients. Our favorites were the eggplants, papaya salads and the garlic shrimps. Sharable dishes and portions size is good.

came here as a walk in with my mom, got seated quickly and ordered our usuals. beef pad see ew i think everyone is familiar with pad thai but this is truly the one dish i always order at thai restaurants. the best part of this dish were the noodles, which honestly is expected. I think a perfect pad see ew has a balance between a good bounce and springiness yet still is soft and tender. Everything else fell short, the beef was seasoned nicely but the quality itself seemed lackluster. Maybe it was the contrast between the noodles but somehow the beef was even chewier? garlic shrimp this is the dish that my family has been ordering from this restaurant since ive been 15, overall its a great staple to order with parties but honestly this recent visit has made me realize its 10 pieces of prawns with chunks of fried garlic for 25$... yeah yellow curry: good flavors, however, nothing surprisingly good. I'd honestly choose the green or red one next time as the non-meat assortment(only onions and potatoes) felt underwhelming overall, the ambience and service was good, plenty of servers were doing their rounds and when we asked for more chili powder on the pad see ew (it wasn't spicy), they quickly gave us an assortment of chilis. Despite that, I think the food is good yet questionable if its worth its value (100$ including tip for a party of 2)

I came here on a Tuesday night at around 7:30 pm as a party of one and the place was packed mostly with larger parties. I always feel kind of bad dining out as a party of one because tip would be lass based on my total, however, the staff her made me feel so welcomed. Service was good, the waiter refilled my ice water often and got the vibe that I wasn't looking to have much interaction. The server recommended me this dish (drunken noodle with ground beef) and told me it had a lot of flavor. When it came out it was so hot but it tasted so good I couldn't help but eat it quickly lol. I would definitely come back but maybe in a larger group so I can try some of the other dishes.

Came here on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Loud and lively which was not what I expected for a weekday. Started with the chicken satay. Really solid. The peanut sauce was great, and the little cucumber and onion pickles on the side were a great pairing. Ended up eating the whole thing before the mains even arrived. Tom yum with prawns was fine, not bad, just average. Could've been more sour, and the large portion wasn't as large as I was hoping. The Panang curry with chicken was amazing. Perfectly balanced sweet and savory, and they didn't skimp on the chicken. Would order this again easily. Service was attentive and on top of everything. Waters kept getting refilled, staff was friendly. No complaints there.

The place is a family go to for special events and just for the bomb food. The calamari was surprisingly delicious. They add salt and pepper generously so it tastes really good with the sweet sauce they bring out. The fish curry we got was also delicious i really think the curry does wonders with the fish and it takes away some of the fishiness too. The hotpot is a must get but u have to get it spicy, we got mild because my friends cant take the heat but i guarantee its better that way. The pad see euw is so yummy, something about the wok hei hits with the egg

I have been to this New Krung Thai few times before but I decided to write the review today because we had just celebrated my sister birthday here. There are plenty of Flavors and delicious options! They offers Lunch Specials, Seafood Dishes, Specialty Soups, Salads, Rice Platters, Noodles, Fish, Tofu, BBQ dishes, Great Desserts options, Beers, Wines, and Signature Cocktails, and so many more!!!!! Great place for family and Friends Gatherings! We came on Tuesday Evening and this Restaurant was Packed. Parking can be complicated due to small parking Area. Lovely displays and decors inside. We have A great time celebrating my sister's birthday!

Staff was friendly but did not check in very often. Would have appreciated a few more times seeing what we might need and bringing the check when we asked for to go containers. Food is quite good. Really like the papaya salad very nice spice. The fried fish was good nice and crispy and the mushroom sauce was delicious slightly sweet and good garlic notes. The drunken noodles have great texture and enjoyed them with the shrimp.

I was craving some pad Thai on a Monday and my normal Thai restaurant was closed, so my friend suggested this place! I ordered online and sure enough, by the time I got there, my take out was ready to go! The parking lot is small and private, but I was able to get a spot and get my food and be on my way. I was very impressed with the taste, quality and size of my pad Thai too! I'll definitely be back!

Lunch special: Green Beans with Pork
    Agnes Y.

Have been coming to this Thai restaurant for years, just realized I have never written a review for it. It's long overdue! There's a private parking lot but it gets filled easily when the restaurant is busy. The restaurant is quite spacious with plenty of tables. Decorations are very basic. Came here for lunch on a Friday and the place was pretty much full. As I entered the restaurant, I saw some off the menu specials on a chalk board and one item caught my attention: Massamun Curry Drumsticks served with Roti. I guess the Roti sounded good. My friend and I shared that and a lunch special with Green Beans and Pork. Lunch specials are served with Soup of the Day, Fried Wonton, Fried Eggroll, and also Steamed Rice. We also ordered Sticky Rice with Mango for dessert. Food was awesome! The Massamun Curry Drumsticks were especially delicious. The curry had a very unique and complex flavor. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Even the potatoes in the sauce were very delicious. The Roti went really well with the curry sauce. It also came with a spicy Cucumber Salad that was very tasty. The lunch special was a good value. The soup was very good. The Green Beans with Pork was also yummy. Needless to say, the Sticky Rice with Mango was the perfect choice to end the meal. The sticky rice was really yummy and the mango was excellent, sweet and perfectly ripe. Portions were very generous and we had leftovers. Service was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.

Ask the Community - New Krung Thai Restaurant

Is there cocktails?beer or wine? Or just non alcoholic drinks?

    Do they take reservations?

If you go in as a big group like we did for 15 people then yes. Otherwise we just call and ask if they are busy so we can find out if there's a waiting list if peak hours close to noon or 7pm. Parking inside fills up when they are busy. :).

Is there still outdoor seating and if so can I book a table outside specifically?

There's an outdoor seating. I don't believe you can reserve ahead, but when you get there you can tell them if you want outdoor or indoor dining.

    Are the lunch specials back?

    No as of 10/15.

Recent price increase? Seems like more than 10%

Everyone in the restaurant industry in the Bay Area is feeling the pressure of skyrocketing minimum wage, labor shortages and rent and insurance costs. They have no choice but to pass it on to consumers if they want to remain in business. Sad state

The menu is laid out by geographic regions, which I thought was a really neat way to showcase the many different cuisines. We started with summer rolls and calamari, both of which were excellent. The summer rolls were fresh and bright, with a delicious peanut sauce that was among the best my sister (a self-described "Peanut Sauce Snob") and I had ever had. The large pieces of calamari were expertly cooked, still very tender even after frying. There was a hint of spice in the calamari dipping sauce that I quite enjoyed. For entrees, we got Pad Thai, Pad See You, and Panang Curry -- all favorites we've had many places (despite the many alluring new-to-me options, I admit we all defaulted to known quantities) -- and we were impressed across the board. Everything was flavorful, had just the right amount of spice, and came out steaming hot. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant, which felt lively and friendly. It was very busy, with a line out the door by the time we left, so reservations are a good idea!

First of all, the staff and owner are incredibly nice. They made recommendations for our meal so we could have the best experience. It felt personal and you could feel the chef's love and care with each bite. The space itself is small but incredibly charming. From the paintings on the walls, brick wall, cozy lighting, beautiful mural, and comfortable open seating, it really set the stage for a wonderful meal. Fox Tale Fermentation Project also has plenty of rotating alcoholic and mocktail options which pair nicely with dishes! I ordered the Cali Classic Burger, and although the protein fell apart as soon as I took a bite, however, it was delicious. These flavors are so complex and funky that you can't help but take another bite. Generally, in non vegetarian dishes, the strong flavors of the meat/protein carries the dish, but in these dishes, the condiments, veggies, and fermented elements take your taste buds on a journey beyond the dish itself! The Fox Sando that my girlfriend ordered was also delicious. The toasted ciabatta was the star vessel for the rest of the ingredients. Perfectly toasted with slight hints of char, it really absorbed a lot of the sauces and spreads. I was lucky enough to take the second half of the sandwich home and eat it for breakfast the next day. I was so shocked when the sando itself held up in the fridge and was delicious cold! The flavors absorbed themselves into the bread but didn't make it soggy. I attribute this to the fact the ingredients didn't need to be heated up again to be tasty! Overall, I would absolutely recommend Fox Tale Fermentation Project for anyone who's looking for something different and unforgettable.
