The food was good and it is a solid spot but I wouldnt say anything was crazy or mindblowing, just a typical good spot with good portions! Spring rolls were refreshing and the rice paper was super sticky and chewy. Service was good and fast, didnt have to wait long for seating ordering or paying I like how the store is really clean and the sauces didnt feel sticky which is a huge plus. Also tables are spread out nicely and it felt spacious!

The service here is quick but they do seem a little understaffed. What matters is the food and the broth was a bit oily than what I would like. Other than that, the broth had very good flavor and the meat was tender. I just wish they gave more noodle though. I got the regular bowl and I feel like they could've given more noodle.

After trying a handful of different pho restaurants in the past few months, I think PSJ has to be my favorite pho spot in the bay area. My usual order is a Pho San Jose with regular noodles (fresh noodles are an extra charge). The broth is always so rich in flavor and we're always given a decent amount of meat. Service is always super fast - we are seated immediately, order, and our food is out within 5 minutes. Perfect for a quick and cheap dinner.

TL;DR: - come here for their sugar cane if you're in the area, but skip out on their pho and hu tieu. parking: - lots of parking wait time: - no wait time ambiance: - modern with options to dine inside or in their shaded outdoor patio. service: - fast and helpful food: [Worth It] - sugar cane with passion fruit: tastes fresh but the downside was the price and the amount of ice that came with it. [Good to Try Once] - Pho Brisket: tried this since everyone seemed to be raving about it. I thought it was good to try once. Soup was not remarkable and the brisket was a bit dry. - Dry Hu Tieu: this option came with chicken, pork and beef, and a small soup on the side. However even I make a better dry hu tieu! I honestly think they can easily elevate this dish with better add-ons and dip.

This is one of my family's favorite pho places to go to! I asked for extra cilantro so that's why my meal looks like this haha. The ambiance is very nice and they even have an outdoor area. Overall a very solid place to get pho. I also really enjoy their Thai tea!

Ordered Bun Tit Nun to go for dinner. It is a simple, delicious Vietnamese dish that is super easy to eat especially for those who are getting introduced to Vietnamese cuisine. It comes with noodles, beef, greens, pickled radish and carrots, eggrolls, and fish sauce. My only complaint and reasoning for the low stars is I requested NO PEANUTS due to a severe allergy in the household. Unfortunately, they included peanuts (I should have checked before leaving.) However, when it comes to accommodations especially with a common food allergy such as peanuts; I find it pretty vital to ensure there is no cross contamination and ESPECIALLY not including in the dish.

Food was okay. Ordered the Pho Dac Biet and Pork/Shrimp springrolls. Broth was good but lacked some saltiness. Service could have definitely been better though. Not sure why I even tipped.

One of my favorite pho restaurants in the bay. So dang flavorful!! Service is pretty quick and there's plenty of seating. Expect it to get busy on the weekends!!

In a saturated market for pho, you won't go wrong finding a place in South Bay, and no doubt, Pho San Jose will come up in your search - not only for its search engine optimized name but also their picturesque bowls of noodles loaded with succulent slices of meat. Sandwiched among a variety of cafes and restaurants in this large lot, Pho San Jose hosts locals and visitors alike to their small, yet comfortable dining space brightly lit by the sunlight coming through their windows and the ambient light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. On the wall to your immediate left as you walk in, you'll find the trendy faux grass/hedge with their name lit up in the center. As you walk in, you may find that it's packed and requires you to put down your name on the waitlist. We came in for an early dinner and the place was pretty sparse so we were seated right away. We were given waters and menus to peruse but we noticed they also had menus accessible via the QR code at each table. The menu was pretty simple with starters, pho/noodles, rice plates, and desserts/beverages. As a first timer, I selected the signature pho sharing its namesake. It's the typical combo that has a bit of everything. When you order, the default size is their regular but you can opt for the smaller size by request. Add ons are extra of course, but I found the regular portions were plenty enough. In addition, after placing our order, we were given a plate of bean sprouts, basil, and limes as toppings to our pho. While we waited, we prepared our chopsticks, spoons, napkins, and sauces which were all self service at each table. When the massive bowls came, everything was submerged in soup. One sip of this nectar was the cue for my stomach to open up and to start chowing down. The noodles were still bunched up when the bowl came so we did the typical dance of spreading the bowl with the toppings, mixing it all up to keep things cooking, and tasting the soup as you smack your lips in anticipation of the meal in front of you. My bowl of the Pho San Jose was loaded with flanks, brisket, riblet, steak and tendon. It was the perfect amount of meat and relatively lean on all the cuts. For a carnivore, this bowl will satisfy your hunger! The amount of noodles was just right and I slurped up most of my soup to top off my full belly. The staff were pretty friendly and quick with their service. They all seem to be multi tasking to be as efficient as possible to keep the place churning and clean. For payment, I had walked up to the register toward the back of the shop. They offer a cash discount, otherwise you pay a 3.75% service fee. For gratuity, they automatically include it for parties of 6 or more. The price is pretty high, however I do feel like pho prices have been skyrocketing for the past few years. You'll still get decent value out of your meal, but the price point will prevent me from eating out here regularly. Overall, Pho San Jose is worth a visit if you're a fan of pho and would like to get a good hearty helping of protein with your bowl. The quality is high but so is the price and if you're looking to dine on a budget, it may be challenging here. If you're in the area and trying to get a hot bowl of soup and noodles, Pho San Jose should be highly considered!

I came here for the first time a year ago since I saw people recommending it on TikTok. But unfortunately it wasn't quite memorable and the broth lacked flavor. They also no longer had the brisket pho around when we went...one of the reasons we wanted to go. I really wanted to give Pho San Jose another chance and wow right when I tasted the broth FLAVOR. Also large pieces of tender tendon. The boneless rib meat was super tender as well. My boyfriend got the smoked brisket pho (not pictured) and the broth & meat is Smokey throughout. I was very happy this time with the quality and variety of food. They've redeemed themselves as a place I'd revisit. The Shrimp Doughnut has a very great crunch and flavor. Also not pictured the pickled onion & sugar cane which I recommend to order. I look forward to come back!

I ordered the pho ga with pickled onions on the side, and it really delivered. The broth was light but deeply flavorful, not greasy, and tasted like it had been simmered properly instead of rushed. The chicken was tender, and the pickled onions added a perfect bright, tangy contrast that cut through the richness. Highly recommend adding them if you like balance in your pho. We also shared the crispy fried shrimp, which came out hot, crunchy, and not oily. Simple, well-executed, and great for sharing while waiting on pho. Exactly what you want when you're craving pho. I'd happily come back!

Pho San Jose is a solid spot for amazing pho - the fresh noodles here have the perfect chew, unlike other soots that have mushy pho noodles. I love the tai, nam, gau. I typically switch between here and Pho Papa depending on the mood. Service is speedy and straightforward. Interior is clean!

Modern interior with an outer unit (pet friendly). Didn't enjoy the EDM music blasting in the background while we were eating. They did lower the volume at one point when a family came in. Hot tea lacked the flavor of tea - don't recommend. Service was fast. The phở had all the necessary ingredients but didn't hit the same flavor as I've had at other phở restaurants.

The broth is so flavorful and unique, and the texture of the udon is perfect. Spicy udon 10/10 So when they announced they were moving toward ramen, I totally understood why people were upset. I was heartbroken too. But I also felt bad seeing so many people leave negative reviews without even trying the ramen first. I've been a customer for years but review bombing a small business over a menu change just didn't sit right with me. I decided to give the ramen a try. Is it as unique as the udon? No. The udon is definitely what made this place stand out. But the ramen was still very good. The broth was porky, fatty, and creamy! The Chasiu could use some work. Classic Tonkatsu ramen 8.5/10 I'm really glad they listened to customer feedback and brought the udon back. I hope anyone looking at this Yelp page for the first time disregards the bad reviews and understands that is just how passionate people are about their udon! At the end of the day, I'm happy we get to have both. The spicy udon is still one of the best things I've eaten in the Bay and the ramen is absolutely worth trying too.

I was around when they were just a normal ramen shop, when the broth tasted like every other broth, when you could walk in and know exactly what you were getting because it was the same as the place down the street. Then suddenly, they got ambitions. Now, when my long distance friends come into town, we have to actually have opinions about the food. We discuss the broth. We notice things. THINGS. I'm going to celebrate my eight year anniversary from a Pokemon card unboxing addiction this year having to think about what I'm eating, and frankly I did not sign up for that. I sucked it up when they made the change and tried the new bowl. It's... good. That's the problem. There are tons of perfectly forgettable ramen shops in the area and nothing should beat them, because the whole point of a ramen shop is to be fine. I watched many customers come in, see the menu, then sit there having a moment. Over noodles. In public. Not sure why there was a change up, but there should be a whole restaurant rebrand if they want to start caring this much. This isn't the gloriously average Uzumakiya that we all know and love. :( Have the original owners decided that they hate being unremarkable specifically? Why would they get rid of their beautiful mediocrity? Bro I'm so devastated I have been crashing out for an hour. No hate to flavor, but a ramen shop has no business reaching for greatness. There are already so many ambitious restaurants and losing the one place I could go to feel absolutely nothing feels like someone just pulled the plug on my comfort-zone life support. I hate reading menus, and the way it has whiplashed and nae-naed back and forth udon ramen udon ramen makes me dizzy and frankly my tummy hurts. I don't understand how this change makes sense; there's no way they'll be profitable when every other shop already figured out that the secret is to be exactly fine and never grow. They threw away their loyal customer base of people who specifically wanted to not be impressed. What has Big Flavor done to us... Udon may be twice the size, but its only got half the soul. *sigh*

There was a bit of a wait and you can waitlist on their ipad inside. We waited for about 20-30 minutes.    Before getting seated they ask if you want to do the normal hot pot style or AYCE. The AYCE runs for 90 minutes and is $24.99 during lunch and $30.95 during dinner time. They also charge for leftover food which is $6 per lb. We ended up doing the normal one pot hot pot for each person.    I always get my usual lamb hot pot which already comes with vermicelli noodles and choose rice as my free side dish. There are various levels of spiciness and I chose extra spicy which is a level down from there flaming spicy from what I can recall. Honestly it was not spicy enough but I did not want to get the spiciest level in fear that it would be too oily. Perhaps I will try that the next time to see if it is.    They have a bar further in the back of the restaurant where you can get creat your sauce and get some garnishes for your hot pot. I also noticed they have some other sides like noodles and such next to it. It seems if you are not participating in AYCE you can still get sauces and garnishes but I am not sure about the other sides.    The interior has changed from the last time I came here and it looks nice! Service was standard and everyone was nice. It does feel more chaotic now that they have AYCE but that  is understandable.
