Wagyu XLB, Pork Shrimp Siu Mai
    Emmeline N.

Located in Santana Row, there's plenty of seating inside and outside. I came here around 1:30pm but it wasn't busy at all. If you're looking for casual standard dumplings, this is the place. However, it can be pricey. Menu: - Wagyu XLB: soupy inside, meat was well cooked - Pork Shrimp Siu Mai: soft, flavors are good

Overrated and overpriced. Service was great and staffs were amazing but the food overall was bland and boring. The dumplings were extremely mushy and subpar.

We had such a great time - attentive service, nice food, beautiful view and very dog friendly. What else can we ask for? Dumpling Time is so convenient. Park at the basement in Olin garage which gives you first 90 minutes free. Take a short stairs up and there you are in the middle of Santana Row. You'll see Dumpling Times right away :) We were one of their first customers and we had our puppy with us. We first sat facing the courtyard but it was windy and chilly. The staff promptly moved us to an area of no wind and with working overhead space heater for our comfort, while maintaining our view. Our server was very attentive. He kept checking on us to see what we needed. At the beginning, he promptly brought out a nice cup of water for our pup, served our teas and took our orders. Food also came out in reasonable time as well. I love that all the dishes here were of reasonable prices and portions. We ordered 2 dumpling dishes and a wonton soup. Everything was nicely flavored and made of fresh ingredients. My mom and I chomped down on our dishes and finished them all within record time LOL Honestly, I believe Dumpling Time is underrated. You can get very decent dumplings here with nice portions and reasonable prices while enjoying Santana Row.

I am a little disappointed in my order. The lobster siu mai were so small and barely taste lobster. The jellyfish was spicier than I thought. It is numbing to the tongue and oily. Half way through eating the jellyfish, I found a small strip of plastic

Absolutely delicious! Excellent food and service! We were able to walk in on a Friday evening and got seated within 20 mins. Highly recommend. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Good is yummy and happy hour is a steal! Alberto was very nice and the energy watching at 4:33 while the World Cup was on was nice.

Delicious food! We loved the lobster siu mai dipped in soy sauce and chili oil. Also loved the seared pork bun, I think it's my first time eating seared, not steamed. Enjoyed the mango tango mocktail, too! We opted for outdoor seating to be some fresh air and it was lovely! Service was good.

Came here with my dog on a Saturday at 7:30pm. Not busy at all, but maybe due to the Super Bowl weekend. Parking was tough but its Santana Row, so it's expected. The inside was industrial/bar type. And looked kinda slow. So I sat outside, and I really love the small Chinese lanterns. What I ordered: -Beijing noodles: very good and flavorful. -3 piece Chicken Bao: excellent with the red vinegar -XLB Combo: 10 pieces of each flavor. All tasted good with the red vinegar and soy sauce. This was a lot for 1 guy like me. So I did put 6 dumplings in a box to take home. Friendly staff and clean everything.

I've never been to Dumpling Time but when I noticed that they served jellyfish salad, I was ALL in. Jellyfish salad is amazingly delicious especially at dim sum restaurants or even at weddings, however, the salad here was slightly different. Since we were craving just the jellyfish salad, that was all we ordered. The jellyfish was on the crunchier side and was marinated in what seemed to look like chili oil. It wasn't salty whatsoever and was slightly bland. On its own we rated it a 4/10 but once we dressed it up with extra soy and chili, it became a 7/10 as it tasted much better. Overall, I would not order it again but I am open to trying their other dishes!

We happened to be in the area and our daughter wanted to try this place out, so we decided to give it a shot. We arrived right before the lunch rush, and even with a reservation, we had to wait until our entire party arrived before being seated. We ordered the chili pork dumplings, pork and shrimp siu mai, pork Xiao Long Bao, green beans, broccolini, and pork gyoza. Overall, everything tasted okay, but nothing really stood out with a "wow" factor. The chili pork dumplings were my least favorite, they could've used more flavor and the green beans were very salty. The portions were reasonable, but the tables felt pretty small for a group of five, even though we didn't order a lot of food. The main reason for the lower rating, though, was cleanliness. The spoons at our table were dirty, with crusty residue inside. We went to grab Xiao Long Bao spoons from another table and noticed the same issue. Later on, we even saw another diner behind us asking for a new spoon. That was pretty off putting and not something you'd expect at this price point. Overall, it's fine if you're already in the area and curious to try it, but between the average flavors, seating issues, and cleanliness concerns, it didn't fully meet expectations.

Was okay! Did takeout and the ordering process was straightforward, my favorites were the regular pork XLB and the shui mai. Came out around $210 for everything. Going down the list: Assorted Buns: were okay for a light dessert. Had egg, and taro and one other flavor (red bean maybe)? Overall the bun was somewhat oversteamed. Stinky Tofu: was good, had a lot of flavor but some sand like sentiments in it. Dumplings: were good on their own without the extra garnish, tasted like dumplings. Wagyu XLB: Would skip as the rendering was overpowering. Tasted like soft fat and not in a good way. Sesame Balls: good and crispy. Har gow: Oversteamed as the skin was tough but had a good flavor. Lobster Shui Mai: My favorite, tasted like shui mai but couldn't really find the lobster. Crispy Tofu: was decent, over seasoned with soy sauce. Spicy Chili Oil Dumplings: was too doused in soy sauce and spices I'd say, be better with some more umami. Beef Noodles Soup: Was okay, really didn't like the soy based broth and the bakchoy was under cooked.

5 stars for the staff, 2 for the management/owners, if they deliberately are choosing to not hire more people. Food is like a 6.5/10 They appear to be understaffed from what I could tell, servers and hosts taking care of a ton of tables in tandem, with nowhere enough bandwidth to handle takeout orders or walk-ins. I saw a customer wait for a while at the entrance, and walk out frustrated, saying, "I can't believe I had to wait 10 minutes and nobody can even take my order!" Not the staff's fault imo, they're handling a lot. Food: Egg scallion noodles 6.5/10: Tasted okay, but greasier than I would've liked. Egg was cooked well, still runny. Bbq pork bao 7/10: Not badd but could've been from the frozen section of an Asian market and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp) 7/10: Again, not bad is the best way to describe most of the food. Tasted pretty standard except I personally didn't love the roe sprinkled on top. Pork Xiao Long Bao: 6/10: Broth tasted watered down and not very healthy (subjective). Wish a staple like this could've been executed a bit better. The staff make this place better, I hope if management sees this, they can treat them better in terms of workload and comp.

Landed here on a weekend before Christmas. There were a few people ahead of us. We got seated fairly quickly. The staff was accommodating and the service was quick. We had the mapo tofu and the popcorn chicken . The mapo tofu was really crispy on the outside and soft tofu on the inside. The sauce it came with was spicy and went very well with the tofu. The popcorn chicken was crispy but I felt it would taste better with a sauce. I had the vegetable dumplings in a garlicky sour soup. For that cold night it brought the warmth. The dumplings had a thick outer covering but the filling was really good . The garlicky sour soup is a must have here. It came closest to the Indian hot and sour soup. For indians looking for hot and sour soup - this is the place. Paired it with the noodles and it was a complete meal The mango pudding was good too .

Although it's an online menu, we ordered via the server and food was freshly made. The tables are not big and we had to shuffle dishes around. Food quality wise was not that impressive though. We tried: - coke chicken wing: does not taste like coke chicken wing, lacking the fried element on the outside, more like a sweet soy sauce chicken wing - pan fried buns: ok, has juice inside, but some part of the bun was too hard. - regular XLB: tasted ok as there's soup inside. The wrapping can be thinner. - rainbow XLB: the most disappointed dish. They were almost all broken when we tried to pick them up. The pink one I got was curry beef and it just tasted weird. The green one which we presumed is spinach wrapping is actually a veggie XLB. - Garlic noodle with spam and veg: This is the best dish of all. There are slices of soft mushroom, good garlic flavor, we had spam and cabbage added. $13.60 for plain noodle and toppings such as protein and veg are each $2-$3 on top. -Garlic Kale: also good, chopped garlic brought up good flavors and the kale are fresh. -Ube buns: freshly made and not overly sweet, good size and quality, but 4 for $13.5 is not that affordable. Total damage before tips is $104. I think I still prefer Shanghai #1 for pan fried buns and other Shanghainese dishes.

Despite being the only customer present from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, I still had a 30-minute wait as the kitchen was prioritizing a large catering order. The server's sincere apology when the food was finally delivered significantly helped erase that frustration. The BBQ Pork: Very flavorful and not too fatty. However, typically priced around $15.00 to $16.00, I found the portion size to be a bit small for the cost and the wait. Beef Chow Mein: A classic staple that was well-prepared, though I prefer the thicker noodle. General Chicken: a solid choice, just the right amount of seasoning. I don't know even how to begin this review, because this place was BEYOND AWFUL. We have been here…read moremany times over the years because of our Chinese family friends. First, let's start with cleanliness. The bathroom was disgusting. If this is where the cooks relieve and wash their hands, yikes! Literally a biohazard. Trash overflowing and everything was sticky and the toilets were very dirty. Just yikes. Also if you look at the dining inspection score on the Santa Clara county website, it scored a literal 20/100. This is worse than competitors for kitchen cleanliness. This explains the many food poisoning reviews here. We got served raw food and things that looked a bit spoiled here and luckily we spotted it and didn't get sick. Read the inspection report and it's really disgusting. I'm not sure how this place is still open. I get service at Chinese restaurants serving primarily Chinese immigrants isn't top tier, but this place takes it to the next level in being abysmal. The front desk staff is belligerent and they DO NOT RESPECT YOUR RESERVATION and make you stand outside and wait for up to 30 minutes. This happened to us a couple times. Also if you are an English speaker/non Chinese speaker, the front desk staff only speaks mandarin for the most part so good luck too if you are a Cantonese speaker. They also hold and reserve table numbers for refused to jump the waitlist and reservations. That was just the host staff, the waiters were not better. Waiters were very hard to flag down and sometimes they see you and ignore you because they don't want to serve you and do their job. They also are too busy sometimes and seem overworked so their employer (a very rich duo of brothers) need to treat their employees better and train them better so they have a better attitude for customers. We also had one waiter when cleaning our table poured our water glasses into a bowl then dumped in onto the carpet onto the ground which was a first for me and my family. This was very memorable in a bad way. The environment is also very uncomfortable to dine in. The seating is packed in so tight that it's so loud you can't hear the other people at your table. It's also a fire hazard since several emergency exits were visibly blocked by tables, chairs, or people crowding at the entrance. I've seen reviews here and on Google claiming to have reported the restaurant to the fire marshal. This seems to be true because there were several times the restaurant de densified the dining room before densifying it again weeks later. If a fire broke out, this would be deadly due to exits being blocked and the restaurant being over capacity. This place is just waiting for something really bad to happen. This place is also very expensive and claims to be an elevated authentic dim sum experience targeting Chinese immigrants and ABCs. And it sucks for the price paid given the food, service, and environment (and the literal fire danger they put you in) Finally, as many have complained here, there is a mandatory 18% gratuity and they demand a tip on top of it. They hide it from their menu so you don't find out, but that's illegal in California to hide a mandatory gratuity. Honestly, the gratuity isn't worth it for the nasty service and food anyways. The only have it because the owners know their restaurant is so bad they have to put a gratuity because otherwise people won't pay tips. What a joke of a business, I'm not sure why so many people still support it by singing its praises here and patronizing a restaurant that clearly doesn't care about either its employees or customer.

My second time here for lunch. Even though their parking lot had a lot of cars, it's so big that there're still plenty of spaces. Their inside was huge as well. Because of the high ceiling, it didn't feel too crowded, even though it was packed. They had a lot of servers, too, though getting the attention of one took a while. Our server highly recommended their sea bass 2 ways (congee and chow fun) on their daily special menu. We would have ordered that if they still had fish at ~2lb, but they only had fish at ~3lb, which would be too big for us, as we would like to order some dim sum as well. So, we just ordered from their dim sum menu. The 2 different house teas we ordered came out pretty quickly, but it took a while for the food to come. The Sauteed Turnip Cake in XO Sauce was the dish I liked the most. It could still use more XO sauce, though. Pork & Crab Roe Siu Mai was gigantic; taste was normal. I wished they had chili sauce at the table. We're too busy catching up and didn't bother to flag down someone to get some. The Fried Bean Curd Skin Roll w/ Shrimp was not bad, just a bit oily. The Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped in Rice Noodle w/ Dried Shrimp was on point; it came with a peanut sauce on the side. The Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce were well cooked and off the bones. The Salted Egg Yolk Lava Black Bun wasn't too sweet; the inside was more runny than we expected. We're already stuffed after having 6 dim sum dishes. Overall, dim sum was solid, but on the more expensive side. While their service was typical for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area, they did apply a 16% service charge to the bill automatically, which was stated on their menu.
