I've been in New Orange Hills since November 2017 - May 2018 at Nurse Station 1. All the care I get from them was great but had some other medical problem I had while being there but Thankfully they took care of it. The Nurses are great! They always have your medication on time! They always on top with everything on time and care with other patients. The CNA are the one who take care of us the most! They're hard worker trying to take care of us! I feel that they need more staff because I know alot of patients been using their call lights trying to get help while the CNA are taking care of others. The Physical Therapy are the BEST Here! They know what they doing. All I can say, the physical therapist are the Greatest! But! I just hope they can extend their Physical Therapy Room little Bigger because the room always seem crowded with Equipments and some other stuff! The Food is OKAY! Barely no flavors.... Heres the tip: They have daily Menu be sure to ask. But the menu will be different from others because its depends on the Diet. The Room is good! You get 2 roommates! Try get to know them! Even their family! It's fun! BUT.... Please Fix or get a NEW TELEVISION!!! Its old and It sucks! Barely any Channel to watch! Before you get admit here, bring something to entertain yourself like your smartphone or Laptop. Last thing! Just try to enjoy your stay here! Like I said, they're hard worker and trying their best to take care of us! Try get to know them better! Also try to enjoy their social activities with the people from Activities at the Dining Hall! Meeting Maria and Madisyn at St.Joe's Hospital was the reason why we admitted my grandmother. Thank you so much for being welcoming and informational. Sometimes dealing with a sick family member can get a bit overwhelming with daily life; but these two ladies eased the stress. My grandmother was able to get therapy at New Orange Hills and become stronger, and was able to go home in a better condition than she was. The food was presentable and good! the therapists where so friendly and motivational. Thank you to all the nursing staff for the amazing care. We appreciate this great experience more than you know. It feels nice to know that my grandmother has new nursing friends. We'll come back to visit soon! We forgot to take a photo of the inside, but took a quick one of the outside while leaving. New Orange Hills - Main entrance - Physical Therapy Near Me - Orange, California

I was brought here after three surgeries regarding a broken ankle and an external fixator. I am currently residing here for another six days or so but I've been here for 16 days so far. I thought I was going to a surgical rehabilitation center, I expected to be around alert people who were all getting heavy PT regarding injuries broken bones or surgeries. I was wrong, this is in fact a nursing home. All day long there are people with dementia screaming, screaming profanities screaming at the CNAs. Since I have been here patient tried to assault one of the CNA's, patients that are fall risks get out of bed and all kinds of alarms go on so it is very noisy and very chaotic. When somebody tries to "escape" they generally try 4 or 5 times. I have seen dementia patients put their hands in the food trays on the delivery cart because the nurses do not close the dinner carts when they are delivering trays to peoples rooms. The food is extremely carb healvy and is also nearly always served cold. In the first 10 minutes I was here they took my clothes to be washed and lost them for the next 10 days. My shirt was returned to me stained and gray. My biggest complaint is the noise in the chaos that the CNA's are unable to control I have been here 16 days had one bed bath and one shower. The screaming at night is nearly unbearable and the nurses do not like you to close your door because they want to be able to pop in and make sure you're sleeping or still alive. This facility is not set up for "rehabilitation" they take in just about everybody people that are nonverbal, people that have dementia, people that have feeding tubes, as of last Friday they have begun taking in psychiatric patients. My understanding is that this place has recently been sold to a different company and all there after is as much money as possible so they take everybody. Because of Covid no one is allowed to eat in the dining room patients are not allowed to socialize and there are no activities so everybody even the dementia patients are bored out of their minds. The PT I was offered Really didn't do anything for me and that I already know how to do the stuff they wanted to teach me so I opted out. The food is complexly inedible, ice cold and as cheap as is humanly possible. It's very carb heavy and mostly comes from cans. One day when I was in my room alone One of the psych patients came into my room and tried to sexually assault me. If you care at all about the person you are placing in a snf Don't go to this place because the administration doesnt care about anybody or anything but money. Patient's safety never even crosses the administration's mind. read more

This place is terrible and should not be allowed to take care of anyone. My dad recently spent a couple months here after being discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately with the current Covid-19 crisis we were not able to visit this place before sending him here, so we didn't have much of a choice. The staff hardly communicated any information. Anytime we got an update on his it was because we called to ask them. When we called we would get differing feedback based on who we talked too. At one point we tried moving him to another facility and they then tried to retaliate and get him discharged. My dad was bedridden and there were multiple occasions where he was left sitting in urine and bowel movements for up to an hour. On top of this it did not appear that he was eating very much or at all during his time there. Upon discharge into a new facility he was unable to eat. The staff never brought this to my attention, but it was clear it had been going on for awhile. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere if you or your loved ones need to go to a skilled nursing facility. read more

If you love your loved one, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. I REPEAT, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE!! This place is not fit for anyone who is either trying to heal or for long term care. The first night I arrived here with my loved one, I pressed the service button and literally 45 minutes went by and still no one came in the room to check on the patient. I then walked out to the Nurses Station (Station 2) to figure out why no one came into the room. I stood at the nurses station while the CNA's, RN's, and whoever else was employed there walked past me, giving me no eye contact. It felt like if they knew they'd give me eye contact they would have to help me. While I'm standing at the desk I see and hear the notification bell going off. You would think that as many nurses that walked by, they would have looked up to see which room needed attention. Not the case. I stood there for another 5 minutes before someone said anything to me. At this point I am baffled and concerned at the lack of empathy these people have and so I ask the girl is this how they do all their patients who are healing? You ignore them??!? This is a serious problem. I explained to her that a patient could have been in serious danger and there was no urgency on anyone's part to help. As far as the cosmetics of the facility, the walls have chipped paint, the beds are extremely old, they are uneven and very loud when you lift them up or down. The TV's are horrible and most channels do not even work. The carpet is old and very dirty. They do not take pride in their grounds whatsoever. What you should take away from this review: 1. The staff DO NOT care about your loved one nor do they care about the patient getting better. 2. The staff act like it's about the pay check and not about being a positive reinforcement to someone who is in need of care. 3. This place is a hands off facility. 4. The facility is filthy. and last but certainly not least, 5. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM! read more

I am very pleased with the care my father received here. He is 83 and broke his hip. The rehab he received over his three week stay was excellent. Kevin and Luis and the rest of the PT/OT staff had the perfect balance of care, encouragement and challenge. The nursing staff were helpful, responsive and proactive to ensure dad healed well after his surgery. I can't say the food was amazing but I would say good to very good. The facility has a 24/7 visiting policy. Guests are always welcome. I'm happy with our choice to come here and would recommend it to anyone. read more

I was a little apprehensive in deciding to place my love one in a skilled nursing facility during this pandemic. The decision was very difficult with so many skilled nursing facilities around the area. I am glad that my family and I decided upon new orange hills. They made the transition from the hospital very easy and did everything in their power to accommodate my love one during this tough season. All staff from all departments went above and beyond to explain the process and the transition that would take place as my love one recovered. Our elderly family member was transferred here from Kaiser. She was attended to by some kind overworked staffers. Some were good and knowledgeable. Most were uninformed on her condition and not unpowered to be effective. You absolute must be with your patient daily to ensure they have adequate care. I respect the care givers attempts here but the lack of effective communication even between staffers is troubling and ultimately effects the patients. A typically unsatisfied experience whenever Kaiser is in control. read more

Having visited the New Orange Hills for my mom, I can say I'm very impressed. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The facility looks like it has had some remodeling done, and it looks wonderful! The patients were outside doing some gardening as an activity, I thought this was so cool to see! Since my mom would be here for rehab, I also checked out the gym. The gym is very large with lots of equipment to help patients get stronger. I would feel very safe having my mom stay here for her recovery, and I am looking forward to coming to visit her here. read more

My Aunt has Kaiser, she was put here to do physical therapy. The night nurses are terrible!!! She was put on the porta potty and left there, she was there so long her legs went to sleep. She pushed button, they didn't come, she yelled, no one came. So she called 911. She was so scared. My aunt is unable to stand on her own. So she was stuck!! That is just that last incident that happened. My uncle stays with her during day & I'm going to start staying over night there with her, so they won't treat her like this anymore. My Mom is currently in New Orange Hills for rehab. It was a heart breaking experience for all of our family when she had a stroke but now hopeful that she will be coming home soon due to the excellent care from The nurses and Rehab that she is receiving . At this time we are able to see my mom through the FaceTime calls and window visits provided and are happy to be able to have that during this time with the pandemic. My mom has been there for one week. so far, So good! I was going to wait until mom was out of New Orange Hills...but I can always come back and modify..My comment. My mom is 81 and broke the right Femur, 2 inches below the hip on March 14. She was taken to Kaiser, Irvine, where she has surgery. Thank GOD. She made it through the surgery, ok. She was at Kaiser until Tuesday March 20th. My mom's Kaiser Case Manager, Flanagan, made arrangements for her to be taken to Lake Forest Nursing Center on my approval, for her to have the proper physical therapy she needs to get back on her feet. On Tuesday March 20, 6 hours before her release from Kaiser. I called Lake Forest Nursing Center to verify and ascertain my prior conversation with them and to make sure it was still "ok" for a member of our family to stay overnight and keep Mom Company. I talked to 3 different persons, except her case manager at Lake Forest Nursing Center, because no one could find her. All 3 persons told me, we could not spend the night, because they were worried about patient confidentiality.. My response to them was.. You're Kidding Right! I told them, We are there for my MOM, to help her on her recovery and to make sure she is treated right and not mistreated by anyone. I was told no, no one could stay overnight, after I was already told one of us could be with her at all times one week prior. I pretty much told them to "take a flying $#%^$#@^" and she was no longer going to their facility. I got a hold of Flanagan and asked him to reserve a room at New Orange Hills, he did. My next phone call was to New Orange Hills. The first question was, "Can a member of our family be with Mom around the clock; one of us needs to be with her at all times" The person on the phone did not hesitate, and the answer was "absolutely" and then she explained the rest of the accommodation. My response was positive. I talked to my mom and told her, there was a change of plans and why. I also told her, when we get to the front doors and up to your room, if there is anything you or I don't feel kosher about, we make a U turn and head on home and I will deal with the arrangements for therapy to come to you. I can say, she is still at New Orange Hills. The Staff, from Patient Relations to the CNA's have been extraordinary with my mom's care. Gabby from Physical Therapy, Carmen, who changes the dressing on her leg every day, to the day to day nurses and LVN's. I specially want to mention Bertha. She's a CNA and has been unyielding in the quality of care she provides. If I could take her home with my Mom, when she's released, I will. Bertha is the epitome and should be the standard for everyone in healthcare. One final note.... My/our Mother is worth more than gold to me, my brothers and sisters. Our expectations of any healthcare facility is simple, treat her as if she was your loved one. I do not understand the poor comments, as we had a good experience. About a year ago, my elderly mother suffered a nasty fall at home. She broke 5 ribs, shoulder blade, had internal injuries, etc, etc. After a lengthy hospital stay, I looked into several care facilities to place her and noticed New Orange Hills had a poor rating and therefore I put my mom "somewhere else" where they practically killed her (documented in my review of them), and she went back in the hospital for 9 days. When it was time to put her into another facility, New Orange Hills was last on my list but they were the only facility with an opening in our desired area. I was reluctant to put her here. Well, much to my surprise, it turned out to be the only good experience we had with the 3 facilities my mom had eventually been admitted to (long story). What I liked about NOH: New Orange Hills had the warmest/homiest environment of the three facilities, the people were great, very friendly, someone always answered the front desk phone and the Physical Therapists were awesome!!! In addition, I always felt everyone genuinely cared about my moms improvement, etc. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised - and I really needed a good experience after the first facility. They they get five stars from me, more if I could! NOTE: I guess you can have a good or bad experience anywhere. But I learned is that WE ourselves must take initiative in making sure our elderly parent/s are properly cared for in these types of facilities. Daily and lengthy visits, making sure they are getting PLENTY of FLUIDS and eating, etc. read more

This yelp review is on behalf of my mother Farah A. First off I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart the caring staff at New Orange Hills Rehab Clinic. My husband had a brain stem stroke on October 8, 2013 and after being at Kaiser Hospital for a month we moved to Station 1 at New Orange Hills. We were there for a month and a half and I was there 24/7 with my husband. I witness how caring the staff was with not only my husband but all the patients. Vivian (the clinic coordinator at Station 1 aka my miracle worker) she is beyond caring and very accommodating to our needs. The staff at the physical therapy department Karen, Rhonda, John, Sarah and Kevin they were exceptional to my husband physical recovery. I want to also thank Andrea (the speech therapist) who took on the challenge on helping my husband learn to speak and swallow (eat) again. Don't be fooled by what people may say about the carpet or the paint those are just cosmetics. Recovery doesn't start with looks it starts with angels who are god sent and work around the clock at New Orange Hills. God bless you all for giving me the best Christmas gift ever, my husband. This place is terrifying. A sort of underworld that has no sign of rehabilitation. It's a place to die and not to rehabilitate. When I entered the place it was dark and the smell of urine and infection made me to throw up. The staff are untrained and English is probably their second language. Many compliments and words of appreciation to the fantastic staff at New Orange Hills Rehab! I broke my leg falling off a fence at home and Kaiser puts a rod and screws in - no cast. 3 days later Kaiser transfers me to Orange Hills. There I get two physical therapy and one occupational therapy workouts every day. Usually, they push me further than I want to go, but it all works out and progress made - strengthening, range of motion and using a Walker. There is plenty of staff and they all seem well trained. They were very attentive to the proper medications/ pain relief pills and a good diet. The employees are very patient with some sometimes difficult patients. I think I got a little lucky cuz my room had a window looking out to a children's daycare next door. Fun to watch the kids! read more

This is the worst place you could send a loved one to. My grandfather was here and they left him in dirty clothes. They let him fall when they were suppose to be watching him while he was sitting in his wheelchair in front of the nursing station. They didn't have him on a medication that he should of been on and became life threatening and they had to call 911. The case worker insisted that we had to get a babysitter for him 24 hrs a day. This place should be shut down!!! Its now called something else and not New Orange Hills, but still a crappy and dirty place read more

If I could give this place a negative amount of stars I would. Anyone should listen to the reviews if you even slightly care about your loved ones. My grandma just got out of surgery. She had surgery on her spine/neck so that her bones could start fusing together. They left her in a dirty "diaper" (sheet in her undergarments) for 3 hours multiple times now resulted a UTI. They lifted her up one night and dropped her hard on her neck which resulted in a pain starting in her shoulders. She also waited 24 hours for sleep medication and once she finally got it the "nurse" did not even help her and was extremely rude. I could not even begin to name everything Wrong this place had done. She has a neck brace to hold everything into place. She woke up at 5am with it off, when she called the nurse no one came to help her. I walked into her room to see her holding it on her head 4 hours later (still never helped her). Our family had taken her out of there after the first two days. Same day she was discharged a family friend went to visit her. Before they realized that she had already left they gave him a room number and when he had entered the room he had found a dead lady in the room. The people in this facility only cares about getting a paycheck. Do not ignore the reviews your family member will come out 10 times worse. read more

I honestly came into this place with low expectations after reading all the negative reviews. My father was hospitalized with a serious staph infection in his left leg and was bed ridden for weeks. After Kaiser discharged him, we needed an assisted living facility to get him back to a condition that he can at least function at home alone. The staff is very caring and were attentive to my dad's needs. The food was above average, and the facility was clean. It is important to understand that this facility is not an ultra luxury facility and a place that houses a lot of sick people. It is a bit of a culture shock to walk into a place and see so many people who are very sick. But once my dad settled in and focused on his recovery rather than his surrounding, he had no complaints. If my dad has no complaints, it is a five star facility! read more

Service here is mediocre. Nobody ever knows what's going on with their patient. Every time I ask the nurse in charge, I get "I'm not sure... let me ask ----" I requested basic mani/pedi and hair cut for my step dad over 4 times before they finally got around to it. read more

Don't come here! People are rude! My grandfather was not showered for over 15 days. The day before he was going to be release I asked them to please shower him (he smelled really bad) they showered him, but when he got home he still smelled horrible. My grandfather can't sit, walk or stand so we depended on their help. It's very sad that other patients there told my grandfather they were being neglected as well. My grandfather is on pain medicine around the clock.. two pain meds to be exact. Each time my grandma, mom or I went to visit it had been 3-4 hours after the time they were suppose to give him the next pill. So he was in pain the whole time and they still sent him to physical therapy like that. My grandfather would scream from the pain and it seems like they didn't care or thought he was exaggerating. I have never seen my grandpa in so much pain. He is a chemotherapy patient and developed nerve damage, sciatic nerve pain along with severe arthritis in the hip. This is all new to us and we hoped they would be more compassionate and caring. Another thing I want to add is that he developed a uti! He just recently started using diapers because he can't feel when he has to go. The times that he went they didn't bother to wipe him or underneath his private areas. He smelled horribly! I would not recommend sending your loved ones here unless you don't care about them. When he got home they didn't send any instructions on how to clean the catheter or anything. Super upset. They just care about the insurance money they get from their patients. read more

My mother had to stay there twice in the last year following surgeries and was assigned to the facility from Kaiser. Both times I purchased nice new nightgowns, robes, sweatpants,socks, slippers etc. and they all disappeared quickly after she got them - most everything is gone, poof. She never even got a chance to wear most of it. I had sat and sewed her name in everything. She got almost nothing back, except one nightie returned to her with stains on it, so she'd have something to wear to go back to her assisted living facility, And I had to call for them to find that. Then when she pressed them, they also found a light robe I had purchased. When she was transferred from Kaiser after her latest surgery she had a red bag with Mickey Mouse on it and in it she had family photographs, her phone book, and some other garments, phone charger, etc. As soon as they took her on the gurney into the building she said a woman grabbed it and was gone with it into the building and she never saw any of her possessions again. Out of at least 8 new pretty items I bought, and many smaller sundries, even lotion, etc -everything is gone. I had also given them a list of items when I brought them. Even more disturbing, I could not get the director to return my call recently as I had questions because my mother was made to sign all kinds of documents. She's legally blind and has no idea what she was signing, and they knew that. She was totally confused and felt intimidated. She claimed they made her sign an NDA and was intimidated not to tell anyone about her stay, she's frightened to talk about it and claims abuse. Since she didn't see or know what she signed it can't be legal anyway. Mostly insurance stuff, I am sure, but we are supposed to be able see any paperwork. Of course I can't be there because of Covid, But I should at least be allowed to have copies of what she's been signing as I Have her power of attorney. She is back in Assisted living now, But if she has another trauma there's no way she's going back to this place. She was very confused due to anesthesia after her surgery and was not happy with the care, however when I had visited her there the earlier this year during her first stay I felt everybody was pleasant and hard-working at the time. The problem is now no family members can keep their eye on things so I can't discern what actually went on and they can treat patients any way they want. read more

I'm writing this review because I would like to thank the girls in the activities department ( Latisha, Marisol and Bella ) for the service and quality of care that they have shown my mom. Do to the Covid-19 we are unable to go into the facility, and the girls knows how my mom loves her donuts so Latisha has gone and gotten her a donut now and then. Every day one of the girls will go in and visit with her and bring her phone to her so I can facetime with her. This is just a sample of what they have done for her. So thank you for always going above and beyond. It's been hard not to go in and see her for the last 7 months, I'm glad that she has you looking out for her. read more

My sister-in-law lived and was cared for at New Orange Hills for more than 6 years, until her death. During that time my brother was with her everyday, including late at night. They gave him special access to be able to do that because it was so important for him and for her. My husband and I were really impressed with the staff as well as the facility. It was clean, always cheerful, and everyone was extremely kind. We base our rating of New Orange Hills on previous experience with other family and their care facilities that often smelled of urine, and often the staff at these other facilities were unresponsive, especially at night, and often angry at having to come to our relatives room. This is not the place to leave a loved one who is less than alert. Although the outside look may seem like an ok place,it is not. Parking: It is seriously overcrowded with staff/visitors parking in fire lanes and double parking. Place:When you enter you will see a run down place with dingy carpets and receive wiffs of urine and poop. The hallways crowded with old medical equipment from the 80s/90s, nurse carts, random items and worn down paint, rusty doors and damaged call buttons. The rooms are small and overcrowded with furniture. The beds are older and not full length. The bathrooms are shared between two rooms(each having two or three patients). The air in each room is less than desireable, stale, stuffy, along with a potpourri of poop and urine. The staff: The nurses rarely come around to check up on you, perhaps too busy helping other patients or gossiping. They are oblivious to patient charts and use non-commerical blood pressure monitors. (Only check vitals twice maybe three times the entire day/night.) The staff will complain about patients in the hallway and will speak loudly for most of the night and have their meetings in the hallway. Patients: There is a mix of severely disturbed, rehab, and abandoned elderly. Hygiene: if you want to be cleaned after potty you must provide your own wipes, or else you are limited to 1 maybe 2 wipes if lucky.; nurses do not disinfect their hands for every visit into your room; they will use thin exam gloves depending on the occasion so beware. Overall: If you can avoid this place, please do. I am surprised to see hospitals give references to these places despite conditions. read more

My wife and I visited my aunt yesterday for Mother's day. We were impressed overall by how the care my aunt has been here in the facility. The nurses and staff were very helpful and accomodating, guiding us through the room where my aunt is staying. On her part, my aunt feels loved and taken cared of properly. She says she is impressed by the food preparations and overall care she is being given here. I'm glad we decided to put our friends mom here for rehab. The therapist are amazing and very motivating. Our whole good experience started from them sending Madisyn and Maria to visit us at St. Joseph Hospital. These two told us all about their rehab programs which made us feel more comfortable since I wasn't familiar with any places in Orange County. We moved my mom here after she was released from the hospital. She was there for more than two months. At first we really liked it here, but, within a week of being there I got that dreadful midnight call from them saying she was very lethargic and disorientated so they put her in an ambulance to send her back to the hospital. Turns out it was just a case of severe dehydration. This can be very dangerous with her weak condition. What really upsets me is that I would think that the nursing staff at a facility like this would know that a patient in her condition, (bedridden, on a feeding tube and a stomach pump for over two months) would know to monitor her electrolytes. I've seen them check her blood sugar. I'm really angry with them, she doesn't need another set back like this due to a nursing error. The hospital said they are going to speak to them, but, I'm not sure if I'll send her back there or not. Glen H. read more

The LVNS to name a few for the Super caring and their+ helpfulness Courtney, Virginia, Crystal, Elizabeth, Zan and Daniel. The hardworking CNAS Erica, Maribell, Siobhan, Branka Alondra, Sandra,Sonya Virginia,, Janet and Grace to name a few. Thank you to Dobi and Sandra the treatment nurses. The real hero's the rehab department 4 months ago I couldn't walk and I am going home Tuesday able to walk so THANK YOU to a great bunch of people that worked so hard with me Kevin, Claudia, Joe, Alex, Brian, Nellie and Uri.
