Chicken Cabobs...Fish Cabobs...decisions to make, oh my, oh my!! Well they have all of these wonderful foods to eat. But my favorites are the falafals, chicken cabobs, and the ceasar salad. The food is amazing!!! I have to say that my favorite thing is the falafal. The service was OK. The waitress was new and she didn't know that many things on the menu. My Auntie Sue also had to ask for a new water because the glass was dirty.(not good). And then I saw that the people that worked there always huddled around each other. Restaurant Review Dill everything! Reza has been a unique experience in the city providing a different AYCE experience. I decided to bring my family to the suburban location for a try of the lunch buffet. The restaurant itself is very hard to locate and is located on the first floor of a residential complex. Parking is also slightly further away in the back row of residential parking. Make sure you parking in the dedicated spots or you may get towed. The buffet is good with chicken kabob, falafals, dill rice, hummus, pita, and Koubideh Kabobs (chicken, meat, and lamb), marinated lamb, and a wonderful Mediterranean honey donut. The only thing is don't expect that the kabobs are all large pieces of meat. The only traditional kabob is the chicken which was slightly overcooked this time. The koubideh kabob are meat grinded up with seasoning and fillers. For 10.95 not bad at all! Servers are prompt and remove dishes quickly after you eat. We came here for a family dinner and it was our first trip in. If you're like me, Persian/Iranian food is a road less traveled so I didn't go in with high expectations. Although the names of many dishes may read like Sanskrit, the ingredients really aren't. I found several dishes that looked really appetizing and couldn't pass on the salmon kabobs. The entree sizes here are pretty impressive and won't disappoint a fat man. My salmon cut was one of the largest I've seen and it was flanked by two generous sides; sliced potatoes and a steamed veggy mix. The salmon and sides were all delicious but had one major drawback...everything was EXTREMELY salty. Two lemonades and a glass of water weren't enough to quench my thirst, I had to inhale Gatorade when I got home. Another drawback is their buffet option. Either everyone at your table has to do it, or no one can do it. Guess they feel people scam the system with their buffet but it's a slight to the honest customers, which are surely in the vast majority. Oh..and their beer menu is almost non-existent fella's. Great place for the buffet lunch or the menu lunch - can't go wrong! Only problem is that the main dining room is crowded and noisy - ask for the a table by the window (room on the right as you enter). Excellent options for vegetarians, you will not leave hungry. Feature belly dancing some evenings, check the poster at the door. Stopped in for dinner after a busy day of shopping with the wife (REI, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc.) Found myself staring at a menu that seems way overpriced... but when the food came and we could barely finish half our plate, I remembered why Reza's was such a choice place to go for all of us in college: Pretty decent food with HUGE portions, enough to make two meals. (And now, potentially three since my appetite is nothing like college days). Baba Ganoush: A little watery, and not as good as some of the homemade stuff I've had at a close family friend's place. I'd pass on this in the future. First set of pitas we received were just slightly warm... polished those off, and asked for some more pitas (which they were happy to oblige for no charge) and these came out piping hot, and delicious. What's with the inconsistency? Tomato Lentil soup: Very strong tomato-ey flavor, but enjoyable. The wife was reminded of the flavor of spaghetti-o's. Chicken Barely: Dill flavor dominated the soup, with not too much barely to be found... but the soup was tasty, and the winner by a little bit between the two choices. Kabobs: Filet/lamb/ground beef were all well seasoned and excellent. Skewers have already been removed for you (for ease of eating, and likely the prevention of chomping down on some wood fragments). And these are LONG kabobs... I think I easily counted 10+ pieces of meat per kabob, and each piece of meat is about two bites. Dill rice: This is one of the sole reasons I love Rezas... I know it's simple and silly, but their dill rice is the stuff of dreams. I don't know if it's just fond memories of chomping down on bowls of this while cramming for the next test, but my wife and I just can't get enough... Just to demonstrate, typically my wife and I order different foods to try all the items we can at a restaurant. So I had planned to get the roasted potatoes, but she gave me this terrified look when I told her, and basically made it clear that I would not be getting any of her dill rice! So I had to order my own... yes, it's that good. Other notes: Dinner pricing was about $18 for a make your own kabob mix, so broken down into two meals, it would be about $9 for a meal. Not bad. There's a small strip of parking for Rezas customers, which is about 60 yards away. Not too far, but just far enough to be annoying if you were in the rain or other inclement weather conditions. Verdict: Good food with a slightly higher price tag. If you're looking for Mediterranean food, this will get you close. Worth the trip, but not going to be a top tier favorite for me at this point in time. read more

I've only been at this location for the lunch/brunch buffet. Very nice spread. Lunch buffet runs Monday-Friday from 11am-3pm for $10.95/person. I got my fill. -Caesar salad -tomato lentil soup -falafels (da best I've had, so much flavor & obviously made from scratch) -RICE (dill, veggie, white) -grilled boneless chicken kabobs....my fav -vegetable curry dish (peas, eggplants, mushrooms) -spicy beef -signature ground kabobs (chicken, lamb, beef) Even their tahini is phenomenal! Lemony, not chalky at all. Dessert was some sort of lightly fried doughnut (shaped like a churro) with a light simple syrup/honey drizzled on top. My husband had to keep me from getting a plateful. Sunday brunch here will run you $19.95 but the buffet expands to 50 items along with a glass of champagne. read more

I love the two locations downtown, but we were nearby so we decided to drop in. The good thing is that the food is consistent. We're all about combos so the Chengeh, Lamb, and Koubideh were spot on. It tasted like we were off of Ontario. I opted for the sauteed vegetables instead of the dill rice and I'm loving it. The mushrooms and carrots were the highlights of this great substitute. The only knocks on this location were the ambience (very drab and it looked half done) and the service (it wasn't that packed and they had more than enough servers). A friend suggested Reza's for lunch, as she and her family have been going to their restaurants for years. And, really, an $11 buffet sounds pretty sweet to me! I tried almost everything. The rice with spices and chicken (I forget what it's called) was delish! The veggie rice was pretty awesome, as was the dill rice. The chicken barley (?) soup was good. It was a bit of a hassle to get our pita bread - our guy never brought it out, so we had to ask another server for it. Good bread, though - fresh, done there, and good without any hummus. I found pretty much every meat (kabob) I ate was dry, as were the falafels. A bit disappointing since I LOVE me some lamb. Ahh, I still had to remind myself it's an 11-dollar buffet. My friend and I don't see each other often, so when we have lunch it can go kind of long. Needless to say we were at Reza's for 3.5 hours. During that time we never felt rushed to leave, and our server continued to check on us and bring us drink refills. He was very nice about it, too. I was stuffed for hours afterwards. In all, it's pretty solid, especially if you're a Mediterranean food noob, so you can try a little bit of everything until you find what really makes your tummy happy. read more

I prefer Reza's Clark st. location, as this one is much more westernized, but this is so much closer to home for me and the food is still top notch. This is a fantastic place to take friends with not-so-adventurous tastes. It's authentic persian food, which is not heavy on spice and never greasy. The descriptions on the menu make it easy for people who did not grow up with this food to make an informed decision. For the price the buffet is very good, but it's not as high quality as the regular entrees. I'm a huge fan of the tomato aash ( tomato and barley soup), lamb and beef kabobs, and the babaganoush is awesome ( my wife's favorite). Friends who have ordered the sea food have always been impressed, but I haven't gotten past their kabobs after more than a decade of dining at all of the Reza's locations. Service has been typically slow, but always very polite, orders are usually correct, and any problems we have ever had have been taken care of with the utmost of care and respect. So I went on DoorDash last week and wanted to try a new cuisine I have never tried before so I picked this place. WORST FOOD DECISION I HAVE MADE IN MY LIFE!! When I got the food, I opened the box and there was not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 separate hairs on the rice!!!! However, the hairs were not even the worst part! When I lifted the kabob with my fork THERE WAS A FLY UNDER THE KABOB!!! Listen everyone who is reading this I never wrote a restaurant review in my life because I am very understanding and I don't blame restaurants if I am given food I did not like but this PLACE IS JUST RIDICULOUS. These types of restaurants are the reason germaphobes exist! At first I was mad but then I thought hey mistakes happen so I called the place and spoke to the manager. I explained what I received and He or she (I could not tell if I was talking to a man or woman), said "Well what do you want me to do? Have the chefs check all the food when busy? Bring back the old food and I will give you new one" and then he or she hung up. OF COURSE you have the chefs check all the food?! What kind of place is this?! Why is it on DoorDash? In the past, I have eaten at the Reza's on Clark. I work in the 'burbs so I decided to call their Oak Brook location for take-out. I agree with another reviewer that it is a bit difficult to find. I almost passed up the entrance off 22nd street. I ordered the baba ganoush and the quail for appetizers. The baba was good, as good as Pita Inn's. The quail was interesting. I have never ordered quail as an appetizer... or a main dish for that matter. It was good, very lemony. For entrees I ordered the shrimp skewer/filet mignon and the chicken combo. I got the dill rice as a side dish. The shrimp was good, it tasted similar to Mexican style grilled shrimp... pretty simple flavor. The filet was okay. It came with a mushroom sauce on top of it. The chicken combo was good, although my wife didn't care for the Chicken Koubideh. We both loved the dill rice... and they gave us quite a bit of it. This was the first time I ordered take-out from Reza's and I was quite impressed. They gave us an entire package of pita as well as the extra rice. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed that they just started having a dinner buffet on Mondays and Tuesdays. The buffet looks to be a great deal. I think it was like $16/person. I took a look a the spread and it looked quite good. If I lived near this location I would definitely go there to try it out. All in all, the food was good. The service was quick, it was ready in about 20 minutes. I gave the place 3 stars only because I did not actually eat there. Ate there with my sister and we had a great time. Left stuffed. We ate on a Tuesday night, our waiters name was Mahlik. He was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We ate family style, the pick 3 appetizers with 3 entree meats. We chose the mushrooms, cucumber salad and falafel. They ended up bringing out more appetizers along with pita bread and it was all delicious. We ordered the filet mignon, the Rezas chicken and the lamb kabob. They were all delicious. The filet mignon and the lamb were so tender! Everything was tasty. It is a little pricey ($25/person for the family style) so about $50 for two people, but we had a TON of left overs. Enough for tomorrow's lunch and dinner. Overall, we had a great time and left very full and satisfied. I'd deifnitely recommend it and come back with friends. read more

Buffet + Falafel? Wake me up because I'm dreaming (and drooling)! I've been to Reza's a couple times. The lunch buffet is out of this world. Meats, and salads, and falafel, and fruit, and lions, tigers, bears, oh my! Their falafel is perfectly cooked. They add some sesame seeds and sumac to it, so it has an interesting flavor profile. The lamb koubideh and dill rice are also excellent. Even the baklava and the donuts are yumm! My only complaint is that I have had trouble getting the waiter to bring the bill. Also the lunch buffet is packed, so you have to be careful not to drop your plate. I went today for the Ramadan buffet and you could barely move through the crowd. read more

Vegetarian review: I really appreciated that they charge less for the lunch buffet if you're vegetarian because the vegetarian options aren't as filling as the meat options. I had the rice, hummus, falafel and pretty much everything else vegetarian. Health-wise? Meh. It's really carby. Price-wise? Not sure the lunch buffet is worth carb-loading for. Go again? I wish I can give it a negative star.This was several years ago our favorite restaurant when Muhammad was the manager, but in last few years the manager Anahita is rude individual and blame everything on her boss and don't give us her boss's no . It happened 4 times. -Today they informed us that they can't take credit card Or check. Only take cash. That caused lot of inconvenience for us. But are they trying to save in the credit card fee for the order of 207 dollars. - couple months ago we were at Rezas and for 300 dollars Anahita refused to take card. - last May we had a party of 78 people and She charged for 8 extra people and we said we want to report this to your boss and she was giving excuses. I am going to report this to better business bureau. We are not going there. Next time you go to there make sure that they are charging correctly . read more

After ordering Reza's for takeout dinner we were very satisfied with our order: 4 entrees with Koubideh, Chengeh, and dill rice and white rice. If you are going to eat Persian/Mediterranean food in the western suburbs, this is about as good as it gets before someone invites you over for home-cooked straight from Iran.. This location is rather unusual as it is on the first floor of the Oakbrook Towers Condo high-rise, but the restaurant is spacious with nice decor, a spacious bar, and plenty of well-spaced seating. The service varies from pleasantly quick for simple slap-ups like kebabs (which are going all day long there) to a tad lengthy if you go for the quails or the Chicken Fessenjan. I've sampled quite a bit on their menu and the kabobs are phenomenal- My favorites are the Lamb Koubideh and the Soltani (Sultan's Feast), which is usually a beef koubideh skewer with a skewer of sirloin alongside on a bed of your choice of Persian or Dill rice, or couscous. The famous Persian salad is always available. They also deliver very quickly, as I have ordered to my home nearly 5 miles away in less than an hour. If you order, order plenty of their lavash (flat bread) to go as you will want to have some of this long after your leftovers are gone. For dessert I recommend Faloodeh if it is available or just a cup of Turk Kahvesi (Turkish Coffee) or their awesome mint tea. You can even have a G&T with dinner, which seems so out of place in a Persian restaurant, but welcome to the USA! I've been going here for years and will continue to. Nooshe Jaan! read more

The staff were always standoffish and unwelcoming but I rarely ate in the restaurant so interaction was limited. Today I had the family over and this was the only restaurant we knew to be open on Christmas. I called in the order for 5 people and the person on the other end was impatient and argumentative. When I arrived to pickup the food she had got the order wrong then went on to argue with me in a defensive manner. I asked to fix the order so they charged me again for the difference. Because I had 5 hungry people waiting at home, I paid. The staff in this place are rude, arrogant and not customer friendly. I will not order from them again. read more

I've only been here a handful of times and to be all in all honest, this isn't the best middle eastern place I've been too. The food is delicious but I've also experienced bad days. Little things they should do that can really amp up the place and business. Right on top of my head examples would be having more welcoming, optimistic employees, being more prompt on orders, refreshing up the bathroom time to time, being more honest and clear on prices that correlates to the weight machine, times, and website and checking up on customers and the buffet to see if requires any attention and giving it attention. I love each and every super tasty dish I've tried and the prices won't break the bank for a classy and impressive dining atmosphere. Delightful Mediterranean- the hummus and chicken kabob are definitely favorites and I've never had kabob so juicy and perfect. I wish I could remember the names of the other dishes I've tried here, but everything was lovely. Portions are generous and the menu has some great variety and vegetarian- lighter fare options that are tasty as well. I had problems with my take out order and the big lady at the front was being a little difficult and didnt know what to do but the guy who must be in charge helped me right away. I knocked off a star because this place needs a major renovation. Theyre still in the 80s decor and need to clean their restaurant asap. Let me start by saying the waiter was very nice. The food however, was not. We went for dinner and ordered 3 appetizers and 3 mains. The Falafel was clearly originally made for the lunch buffet and just reheated for us. It had zero flavor and was served mostly cold. The Baba Ghannouj had zero flavor. The bread served with it felt like it had been sitting out for quite some time - it was crumbly and horrible. Finally, after waiting about 10 additional minutes for our order of Dolmeh we asked about it - the waiter left and returned a few minutes later informing us they had run out - to us a clear indication that everything we were getting that night was being served from the lunch buffet. We ordered two specials for the main (two kabobs on Persian bread) with tomatoes and mint. Once again, the bread was real disappointing, no mint was served (we had to ask - and were eventually given a few sorry pieces of mint). The kabobs were cold, stale, and had almost zero taste - I have no idea how that is accomplished, but they did it. My wife ordered the lamb kabob which was served with rice that tasted like straw and once again, cold lamb. So, we had the lunch buffet, 7 hours old, cold, and stale at dinner prices. Absolutely horrible experience. The staff there was rude and not attentive at all. The buffet was disgusting, I couldn't find one thing that I wanted to take a second bite of. It looked old and left out. When I walked in, I felt instantly judged. We were seated, without menus, without water, without anything, for 10 minutes. Ridiculous! And then when I asked where the men's restroom was, one of the waitresses just pointed in a general direction and said, "over there". I almost walked into the kitchen!!! I have gone to the Oak Brook location 3 times. - For a wedding, a retirement party and the last time for a birthday. There were 15 of us and we had a great time! The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything. They took lots of pictures of us, and the food was delicious. I had the Salmon Kabob with grilled potatoes, so yummy! My friends had their kabobs with rice; they had enough left over to take home. Also the hummus is so creamy and flavorful. The fresh baked flat bread is a tasty meal on its own. It's hard to find good Iranian food in the suburbs. This is about as good as it gets. The service is great, the food is just like mom's (seriously), and it's huge! I've been here numerous times, and I always leave happy and satiated. This Reza is slightly superior to the Chicago branches in terms of the food. The buffet is not bad, and it certainly is a good value for the price. The a la carte menu has good variety. The dishes are of excellent quality and the prices are quite reasonable, almost inexpensive. There is a special menu offered for the feast on the day after Ramadan ends. The meal is served in a rough approximation of how one would eat in the Middle East when visiting a home. First comes a plate of olives, cheese and parsley. This is Reza's version of what you might get in a Lebanese restaurant, namely cheese, pickled turnips, olives, peppers and radishes. After the olive plate comes the tomato soup. The tomato soup is actually a lentil soup with lots of tomatoes. There are other salads and appetizers on the menu. These can be combined to make a complete meal, like a Lebanese maza. The eggplant dish that is the Reza version of imam biyaldi is excellent, as is the baba ghanoujh. The hummus is not so good. The menu has most combinations of lamb, beef, and chicken skewers. Also on the menu is fish. The signature Persian specialty dinners are listed on a separate page. I like the qormeh sabzi, braised lamb shank, and fesanjan chicken. All of these dishes are excellent, but the qormeh sabzi is Reza's own recipe, not one that most would consider authentic Persian. Very good are the various grilled skewered meats. I like koubideh the most. Each dinner comes with plain rice or an aromatic dill rice. On the whole, the quality of the meat at Reza is average. For example, skewered filet pieces or lamb chops (these come is a set of five or seven) are decent, but not outstanding quality and flavor meat. Desserts are bamieh and baklava, neither of which is particularly interesting nor outstanding. It doesn't say so on the menu, but it is understood that, true to the Middle Eastern style, you get unlimited refills of the olive plate, the soup, and the rice (or dill rice). Service is good. The restaurant has upscale, classy decor, with white tablecloths and a quiet, elegant couple of dining spaces. The Persian servers are loquacious and more than audible (I guess that culture is pretty talkative), and the utensils are not silver, but except for that, Reza's feels like an elegant dining room. Actually, this Reza has two spaces. The one in front is lighter, having windows, and is the nicer room to dine in since the buffet, if there is one, is in the other room. Other: There is valet parking for a fairly nominal charge. Self-parking is available in far portion of the lot for the restaurant's building, about a 200 foot walk. Summary: Reza on Butterfield is excellent. The food is mostly high quality, portions are large and the lunch buffet is a real bargain. Service is good and the decor is very good. Reza is one of the better restaurants in the Yorktown corridor. (Benihana and McCormick and Schmick's are the other ones). read more

Rezas just got bumped up to a 5 star thanks to a wonderful meal I had last night.It may have had something to do with the company but still the food was A-mazing!! We started it off right with a couple glasses of wine from their fairly large wine menu.Then we ordered up the vegetarian starter platter and indulged in some pretty spectacular veggie delights! Creamy Hummus,Tabouli,2 types of eggplant dip,feta,falafel,and warm pitas! It was huge! We got slightly filled up on that so we decided to just order some more apps., grilled mushrooms and veggie kabobs! The kabobs were tasty but the mushrooms were juicy and flavorful! The night was topped off when a lovely manager man came over and asked how our meal was.I told him it was great and it was my friend first time there.Next thing you now hes bringing out Champagne! Just EXCELLENT food! Cannot complain about anything. Everything was very clean and the food was just amazing. I've only been there twice and every time I go it was not disappointing at all. The first time I went, my best friend and I ordered a combination chicken kebab dinner. The waiter was super nice since he knew he were first timers he allowed to us mix and match to see what we liked. We ended up liking everything. The second time I went there, I took my parents there and they liked it a lot. Seeing their buffet was like being in heaven. All types of rice, endless bread, gravies, salads, teas and desserts. Nothing to complain here at all. One of the best dishes that really impressed me was their nihari. For those not familiar with nihari, its a slowly cooked spicy beef stew usually made from the shank. I have tasted nihari and several places and it tastes awful almost everywhere except here! This place gets it 100% correct and then some! Tastes SO home made and it just works well with the rice and salad or with some flat bread. So PLEASE try that dish if it is offered in the buffet or if its on the menu. Its a great Mediterranean food and has a slight different taste/menu as its persian style. There is a lunch buffet everyday which is awesome and sooo worth it. I thoroughly enjoy Veg combo as its best including falafel, Eggplant Steak and Suffed peppers. Soup is good and so is hummus and baba gannosh but kashkeh bodemjan is awesome. Food is good-but service leaves much to be desired. Its like they dont realize there is a correlation between my tip and their service. My biggest pet peeve it not getting my drink refilled. We had the most horrible experience today at this restaurant. We made reservations and did not get our food 2 hours later after arriving. We were not even handed menus upon our arrival to the restaurant and were given the reason that they thought we were expecting more people. No one came to greet or introduce us. After going up to one of the restaurant workers to inform them that we are here, they came with menus. To be noted that this was the time that we looked up the menu on our phones and were ready to place our orders. We placed our order and waited 1.5 hours. Upon asking the status of our order from one of the restaurants supervisor, we were told with a rude tone that the workers are working on our order and we must wait just like others. We left the restaurant without the food. The only thing we got was just promises that food is coming in 5 mins, later it's done at the grill, they're plating. When we were extremely frustrated we decided to leave, one of the restaurants came and asked to sit back and our food is coming. The good for another table (they had arrived after us) got their food and our table had no sign of food. When we complained, the store representative had the audacity to ask us to not yell and understand. We would have understood if they would've communicated better with us and have been respectful of our time and hunger for our toddlers who were patiently waiting for their good. Of note, the guests that had arrived after us got their food before us. It felt like that the managers and the store workers picked on our table and favored the people of their culture and language. I went for lunch yesterday and was very disappointed. The pita was not brought to my table, the one at buffet was hard and cold. Found hair in my rice Falafel was cold. This was lunchtime and my last time. read more
