We walked in just four minutes after they opened at 11:00 AM, and the restaurant was already packed--a great sign that we had found something special. One of my family's favorite spots, but it was my first time here. There was only 1 server and he was on top of it despite it being really busy at the time. They were also really accommodating as we had a pretty large party of 13 people, although they have a fixed gratuity for large parties, which is completely fair. Food was decent although perhaps over priced? I had the Henry Special which includes a various selection of meats, prawn, and spring rolls on top of a bed of vermicelli noodles and shredded vegetables. I didn't feel like cooking last night so we decided to go to a New Saigon for dinner. It was very good the last time we went and we felt like something casual so we decided to try New Saigon again. It was so disappointing. We shared an order of Chile chicken wings and a bowl called Henry special. The wings were oily and overcooked and Henry special also was not good. The special was vermicelli noodles with prawns, grilled pork, grilled pork patties and spring rolls with cucumbers and bean sprouts. It was served with peanuts and a very sparse serving of house made fish sauce. I think the pork was off because it had a funny taste and texture to it. It was not very good. I don't know Abbotsford well, so we searched up Vietnamese restaurants and chose this place because it got a high rating. There was pleasant music playing in the background. Decor was on point. The food was lacking in flavour. It did not have the umami factor. I tried adding hot sauce, hoisin sauce, basil leaves etc to up the flavour, but it didn't work mainly because it wasn't just lacking in flavour, the texture of my noodles were off as well. Everything is quality. I've been to dozens of pho places in and around greater Vancouver area, this is up there in the top 10 percent. Prices are fair for what you get, perhaps slightly more than some other places I've been to but I'm always impressed with the food and service. Have been here 3 times, will go again. read more

Came here on a day when Vi-La Palace was closed. Small restaurant which had very nice staff. Parking was difficult. Menu was smaller than vila palace. Food was ok, smaller portions that vi La and spring rolls no where near as good. Won't be back read more

Wow. Their pho broth is something I have never had. I can taste all the different spices and herbs that they used. It was clean. And Why am I just finding out about Vietnamese ice tea?!? It's delicious! My group really enjoyed their food and the owner Henry, was exceptional! Thank you Henry for the local tips and eatery around Canada and California! One would think that after almost being in Asia for 4 months, one would not miss Asian food! But interesting enough while I was back in Hong Kong I really miss the Vietnamese food here from Vancouver! My partner had arranged a getaway in Aldergrove,BC and we were craving for Pho, so we found New Saigon in Abbotsford, this is a small restaurant managed by the owner( extremely polite and friendly ), Henry introduced himself to us and was chatting about how the lower mainland has changed and people in general are not as friendly as before, thus being in a restaurant that serves not only good food but offer a friendly face and conversation really makes dining out extra special! Food wise, we had the appy chicken wings which is perfect accompaniment for my Mojito see pic. We also had the fried wonton...crispy and not greasy at all. For main my partner had the special Pho; Soup is served hot and very aromatic with just the right kick! I had the Combo F as you can see from the photo is a generous serving of spring roll, grilled lemongrass pork, succulent prawns etc...just delicious! For a small independent restaurant managing to survive for the last 20 odd years...good food is a given but I think most of all Henry the proprietor make a huge difference!! read more

On a road trip so stopped here for lunch. Ordered Henry's Special, Lemon Grass Chicken, Spicy Fish Sauce Chicken Wings, and Saigon Slaw. Everything was good, but the chicken wings were fantastic! Stopped by here for dinner before catching a flight home. Picked this place based in Yelp reviews. Parking 5/5 lots of parking it's in a pretty big strip mall Environment 3/5 the place is very clean , seats about 40 ppl. The weird part is the bathroom Is for males & females with 2 stalls in the same room. So I was in one stall and I could see a gentleman a deer in the stall next to me. Service 5/5 the service was great the young gentlemen who served was young looks like it's family run. Food 3/5 ordered the spicy pork patty with vermicelli the fish sauce was very bland , the poem patty wasn't spicy at all. It wasn't spectacular. The beef noodle soup was very bland as well. This Vietnamese restaurant definitely deserves 5 stars from me...From the outside the restaurant looks simple. On the inside, the restaurant is very clean and comfortable. It is more on the smaller side with around dozen tables. The food is delicious and fresh! The service is outstanding to say the least...I'm assuming that it is a family run business because the two staff members looked like a dad and son. They were very friendly and welcoming. I got there around 11:48am and got seated right away. However, the restaurant filled up right after I sat down. The restaurant is located among many other businesses so it seemed like everyone who works near the restaurant goes there for lunch. They have a pretty large selection of amazing food on the menu. I tried the brisket, tripe, and rare beef pho ans the spring rolls. They were absolutely delicious that I wanna go back there again. The prices are reasonable but higher than what I normally paid when I lived in Vancouver downtown. I would 100% recommend you to try it! read more

Best spring rolls I've ever tasted and that includes restaurants that I frequent here in Toronto. Loved that they are jam packed with meat and you can tell they didn't skimp out. Also tried the coconut curry chicken on rice and that was flavorful as well. Highly recommend if you're ever in Abbotsford and in looking for some good Vietnamese food. read more

Its a family owned resturant and they are such nice people. Well in Squamish we came here for dinner. The space is definitely tight, if you're going to be a group of 6 or more. I don't recommend it just based off of the space available. They have Vietnamese coffee, which is my favourite at Vietnamese restaurants. There were a few families with small kids that didn't enjoy the wait for food, but it wasn't bad on account of the restaurant being busy. However, I would recommend an earlier dinner for those of you who may want to skip a crowd. For food, we all ordered the "Henry special" and was not disappointed. I ordered the combo #5 for myself and found myself full halfway through my meal but it was SO delicious I definitely took leftovers home. I went for lunch with my dad on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Even though I haven't been there for a number of years, I remembered where they were located like I was returning to a good friend. The food was very good sized and very tasty just like I also remembered! My dad had the ming ming soup, (very tasty and yummy if you like hot and spicy! ) And I had the coconut curry chicken with rice, and it was very delicious! Food was pretty good but not entirely happy with the dining experience. Came to Abbotsford for the Christmas event Glow so I decide to pop in for a quick meal with my husband and 2 kids (3 and 1 year old) before heading to the event. First problem - no high chair or booster, at all (not because they were being in use). No problem. We brought our own. Second problem - They seated us by the wall with mirrors as decoration. My kids accidentally touched it and the waiter got mad at them as the mirror can come off and fall on them. And he told us it's happened before. Ummm... then why didn't they get rid of them or have them properly installed? Or seat us somewhere else away from the hazard when the restaurant was 99% empty? Third problem - the waiter was not impressed that we didn't order any appetizer or drinks when we just ordered 2 entrees. Luckily the food came quickly so we could get the hell out ASAP. I don't normally rate resturaunts based on service but please don't go there if you have kids... it's very dim at night too so I guess it's really not meant to be a kids friendly place. Henry's Special and a lemonade, and you'll give this place a 5 star rating as well. I know there are other items on the menu, and they're probably just as good, but Henry's Special is what has people coming into the New Saigon. The lemonade is probably the best I've ever had, and I'm pretty well-versed on the lemonade front. This lemonade is a blend of pineapple, coconut, star anise and vanilla, and the lemon is smooth and subtle. The star anise is the secret and it's awesome. Henry's Special has the spring rolls, the pork patty, the prawns, all over a bed of chow mein noodles, and there's some mint & cucumber mixed in as well. This place is near our house and one day last November we decided to give it a try. Am I ever glad we did. If you're trying it for the first time, I recommend the Henry's Special. It has a little of everything, and it is delicious. I've tried other things from time to time, but I keep coming back to this one. Try Henry's Iced Tea or the Vietnamese Coffee. I love this restaurant! Henry, the owner is always there and stops and talks with you and often takes people's orders. He's a super nice guy. Actually there is a menu item named after him called Henry's special and it is delicious! It is a combination of a few different menu items. Each meal is always huge and I usually have to take some home. It is also reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Each menu item I've ordered has been delicious and humongous. I highly recommend this restaurant to Vietnamese lovers. You will never be disappointed with the food or the service. Start with the Henry's special if you've never been before, or the lemongrass chicken is very good also. As a appetizer get a seafood salad roll. They are so good with the peanut sauce. read more

Everyone here orders the Henry's Special: vermicelli noodles, prawns, pork brochette, beef strips, lettuce, cucumber, carrot and a sliced spring roll. The bowl is massive; I've yet to finish it. It's around $12 but for the amount you get, take half home and you could eat the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Of course they have the usual Vietnamese fare: lemongrass chicken, curries, and so on, but you can't go wrong with Henry's Special. They fly out of the kitchen left, right and centre, and are the fastest thing to order. The place gets really busy at lunch time and it's not very big, so get there early or come for a late lunch or you will have to wait a bit. Nice place, clean and friendly. As for traditional Vietnamese or Pho for that matter... Not so much. More geared for the Caucasian palate. The flavour profile was bland and far from the spice blends, charred ginger and garlic more in line with Vietnamese food. The variety of Pho was very tame. The broth had celery in it. First for me, and I eat a lot of pho and this place is mediocre at best. Abby #1 Pho down the street is more traditional in flavour and quality. Sure you might not get the nicey nice smiley service most Caucasians expect at a food service outlet, but c'mon... It's an Asian restaurant... You go there to eat not make friends. If you're looking to make your caucasian friends feel at home and comfortable New Saigon is the place. But if you really want to enjoy a good bowl of Pho and cha gio or a vermicelli bowl, take your 12$ and spend it elsewhere. read more
