Called ahead to place my to go order, and it was ready by the time I got there. I had Pho Tofu, and my husband Pho Veggie. They seemed to be identical, other than mine having an addition of 4 cubes of fried tofu. The Pho included corn, broccoli (over cooked), onion, bamboo shoots, carrots, and a few other veggies. It was a pretty decent amount of veggies in a Pho. 2 kinds of sauces were provided: One was similar to hoisin, the other was a fairly spicy (hot) sauce. The broth was tasty, but after adding in the 2 sauces, it seemed to be very salty (it might've been one or both of the sauces, as I didn't taste the broth before adding the sauces). Coming from Seattle, I have high teriyaki expectations with so many to choose from down south. IM gonna be really honest that I really didn't have much expectation from a teriyaki restaurant in Lynden- but I was so impressed with mine and my MILs lunch yesterday! Finally a teriyaki place where we Didn't have to ask for more sauce, and it was so delicious! I am assuming the owner working by them selves was so nice and I heard him cooking our food fresh! The place is like most teriyaki places in decor but it was clean including the condiment tips and such which is such a huge plus for those of us who have issues with dirty communal condiments! I had to knock it down a notch. It is pretty good food... but their prices have gone up and their portions are honestly too small. I left there today still hungry, and that is not normal when I go out for a steaming bowl of pho tai. They have not done any work on maintaining the place, it honestly looks like a rundown hole in the wall now. Which if I if I was killing it on the others - no big deal. We ordered from here for pick up. The service was good, but the food is singularly the worst trriyaki experience I have ever had. My chicken was grey and stringy, covered in a gelatinous layer of sauce. The sauce was so thick that it had the consistency of warm butter. The egg rolls were old and had no flavor. Our order was wrong, ordered pho w/meatballs for extra $3.99 for 4 pieces (2 meatballs that he forgot to add and it only had like 6 small pieces of steak), got a teriyaki chicken was dry and rice was cold the only thing warm was the gyoza. He had visitors when we went in and they sat at the table before making it into the kitchen. Fyi dirty utensils and dirty tables. All Asian restaurants start the same. They are family run and they start as if cooking for family and friends. Unfortunately, they find they are losing money. They cut down or eliminate the pricy foods and cut down on portions. Pretty soon they are serving leftovers. Patronage falls off making things worse. So I recommend any new Asian eatery. I had about 6 thin small slices of beef & the container to go was probably half the size of the bowls I would get awhile ago when I'd eat at a table, there was a good amount of noodles though. The chicken teriyaki w rice had probably $7-8 amount of portion for $13 also. - The reason I put down a 4/5 stars is because, besides the complaints I've stated, the ambience of this tucked away food joint gives me a nostalgic feeling, I enjoyed the times I've been here where there were barely any folk inside. I never found any hairs, any flys or eggs in my food, I was satisfied with the service & the broth was (as always) the star of the show. Would do Zero stars if I could. I ordered to pick up ahead of time a spicy chicken teriyaki. I got there and waited didn't really care about the wait. Got my food rushed home to eat it. When I got home, realized it was the completely different order. I went back he argued with me that I had said pork and not chicken. When I clearly knew what I ordered and wanted to eat. He refused to not make things right by not giving me my right order but instead said what he gave me was good food. and was not gonna throw it away. I than wanted my money back and he also refused. The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful with the perfect amount of sauce. The rice was sticky and a bit chewy (how I like it). And the lettuce for the side salad was chopped up into manageable size pieces (last time it was just big leaves). While the meal was great, I feel like $14.12 (total) is simply too expensive for the amount of food you get. For the same price, I could get a Bento meal from Nami with much more food/greater variety or go to the Wonderful buffet and eat as much as I possibly could. For $8-10, I could buy a plate (2 entrees/side) @ Panda Express where they stuff full the same take-out container to it's max capacity. I ordered beef teriyaki, a staple of every Asian takeout joint everywhere. It was horrid! Very little beef, smothered in teriyaki sauce that tasted like nothing but sugar and soy sauce, all over white rice that was way overcooked. Then there was the so-called Shrimp Fried Rice for $15.00. Oh my god, it was nothing but a small order of overcooked brown rice with four tiny overcooked baby shrimp, and it had no flavor whatsoever. But after walking in they had the generic teriyaki menu. So I decided to give their teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken a try. If you like some side of chicken and side of beef with the main course of rice drenched in super salty teriyaki then eat here. Talking a bite was like eating soy sauce with extra salt on it. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It's located in a strip mall with a sign that simply says Pho Teriyaki but this is the same restaurant formerly known as Oyiso. If you are a sushi fan, I suspect you will enjoy this place. I do not eat sushi but I was impressed with the cold case displaying very fresh looking pieces of fish, salmon, octopus, squid and shrimp. I had the chicken teriyaki. It was served with a crisp salad with a nice dressing, steamed white rice and chargrilled chicken with a great teriyaki sauce. I loved the egg roll and have to say it is one of the best egg rolls I have ever had. The wrapper was crisp and not at all greasy and the veggies inside were crisp tender, not a squishy unidentifiable mush that you find in most egg rolls. Terrible. Just Terrible. I used to like this place. A couple years back a nice lady worked there or ran it, not sure which one but it was always delicious and she was very nice. I've been there multiple times this year. 1st time got broccoli beef and it tasted like dog food. I literally wouldn't even have fed it to my dog. We threw it away. I usually always get beef pho. They used to give generous portions now it's just broth some rice noodles and literally 3 tiny pieces of meat. The meat in the pho is dry garbage also. Their prices keep going up and the quality keeps going down. They always have a help wanted sign because the guy that runs it is EXTREMELY rude and they can't keep anyone. I've been in there multiple times where he was literally yelling at employees. I thought she was going to cry. I almost said something. Lynden has very little to offer in the way of Asian cuisine, but Pho Teriyaki covers most of the bases and will satisfy your cravings if you just need teriyaki, yakisoba or sushi (maki only) and can't be bothered to drive to Bellingham. The quality is very workmanlike, and if you're used to the offerings available in Bellingham or Seattle you'll probably be underwhelmed. Adjust your expectations for a small town and you'll be pleasantly surprised. The prices are a bit steep for the quality, but not entirely unreasonable. I typically order the beef teriyaki, which is very good, with a side order of california rolls, which are not amazing but much better than the stuff you can get at Safeway. The total comes to just under $20 with a drink. I would definitely recommend Pho Teriyaki if you live in North Whatcom and are craving something Asian but don't want to make the much longer drive into Bellingham, where better quality options are available. Simply the best place to go. I go here all the time when I have a craving for sushi or Yakisoba noodles. The place is calming, relaxing, very clean and the decor is beautiful and the setup is excellent. Of course you can't forget about the staff and they are very nice, friendly and very hardworking. I ordered pho and wanted no meat with beef broth, they gave me chicken broth and when I asked if it was beef or chicken broth I was told "yes" soon a different person took my food away and said they made a mistake. They brought me another bowl of soup but the broth was REALLY bad!!! The people running the store were great. I may be spoiled moving here from Snohomish / King county area where there are literally dozens of great Pho houses, but this is the worst Pho I have ever had. The watery broth, embarrassingly small meat portion and old looking vegetable plate immediately put me off. This was an absolute awful experience! The place looked untidy when we walked in! We placed our order and then we looked around for a place to sit, there was no clean table to sit at. There was only one worker and he had gone into the kitchen to prepare our food and the music was so loud I could not get his attention to ask him to clean a table for us. I finally got some paper towels and cleaned the table myself. When we sat down I was surprised and horrified to see that condiments were on the table which I know it's not to be during COVID-19 restrictions. Also, the metal forks were placed in a container to help yourself on each table, very unsanitary and very unsafe during this time! When our food arrived we were horribly disappointed! It was bland and tasteless. My husband ordered Pho and I ordered teriyaki beef. The rice looked like it was left over from yesterday, just not good at all! After taking only a couple bites of each of our meals we had had enough and we walked out and left the food mostly untouched on the table. I hate to waste money like that but had no choice!
