Newbury Palace Pizza is as good as it comes. It is often hard to find good pizza (as well as good Chinese food) in the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee area. Palace Pizza is truly what you would find in New York or Connecticut or Philadelphia. The pizza is nice, thin, crusty, tasty, well cooked and just like you want it. Although it is a 20 minute ride from our house, palace pizza it's a welcome respite from what we get every week on pizza day at home. We usually ask for a large pizza half meat lovers and half vegetarian. Which is always superb. It has been several weeks since we were there and I'm still irritated by something that took place, something that may cause me to bypass them in the future. We placed an order over the phone while driving from Concord back to Newbury to see family. After being on hold for quite some time, our order was finally taken and I paid over the phone with a credit card. When we pulled in for curbside pickup, it was extremely hot out, so we chose the south side of the lot, in the shade to wait for our food. At no point in time did we see signs telling us to park on the north side, nor were we told over the phone to do so. When our food was brought out to us, we were chastised for parking in the wrong area. I'd like to know how we were supposed to know this in the first place? If you stood in the windows of the establishment, I suspect you can see the whole parking lot. If you are looking for a car and never moving from behind the counter, perhaps you can't see us. If that is a known issue to you, maybe you should have signs or mention this on the phone when someone places an order. Or ask us to call when we arrive. Although we have eaten there several times and done take-out several times, we are not 'regulars' who would know your post-Covid drill. I expect there are plenty of other folks who wouldn't know this either. Lastly, no receipt was brought out to me to sign by the oh-so-irritated employee, so there was no opportunity to tip. I'm very generous with my tipping usually and even more so with curbside pick up these days, as I greatly appreciate the service. Newbury Palace Pizza is located along quiet NH 103 just west of the Bradford TL. This casual pizza restaurant is order at the counter with self serve table seating, flatscreen TV mounted on the wall and there is also outside seating on the wooden patio. The menu offers traditional & specialty Greek style pizza (slices or whole pies), calzones, subs, salads, appetizers, Italian dinners (with salad & bread), and cold Coke drinks. Bottled beer is served here too. The prices seem reasonable here. One of my coworkers lives in Newbury and recommended Palace Pizza for their hot subs. So I decided to stop in here for lunch recently. I ordered a Cheese Pizza Slice ($2.25) and a Large Eggplant Sub ($6.00), which was ready in about 12 minutes. The Cheese Pizza Slice was very good, which had plenty of cheese and thick tomato sauce. The Greek style crust had thick round edges, crisp on the outside and soft texture inside. The oven baked Eggplant Sub was excellent and very tasty, which had plenty of thin breaded fried eggplant slices, thick tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese and green peppers & onions (no extra charge) on a soft and crusty sub roll. The grease from the sub soaked through the paper bag (just like in Philly). I would definitely order another Eggplant Sub on my next lunch break through the area! We got the Hawaiian ( pretty good ham and I believe canned pineapples) and BBQ chicken ( red onions, BBQ sauce and chicken) pizzas. The pizza sauce was thick and flavorful... The crust is on the thicker side but crispy and fluffy.. The dough had a nice crispy layer at the bottom, not soggy which I love!We also ordered chicken wings with the buffalo sauce on the side... Coulda been deep fried a little longer for my taste, I'm not sure if there are many pizzerias out here in Sunapee but this spot is pretty decent. read more

We walked in and had to tell the employees to put on their masks, but that it not the reason for one star. We ordered two pizzas, one was plain cheese the other was eggplant. We also ordered a two garlic breads. The eggplant pizza was below average and quite greasy. The cheese pizza was atrocious. Overall, only two slices were eaten and two others just had one bite. The garlic breads were the best part but for garlic breads I would give them a 3/10. My family made a meal out of the garlic bread and that dinner was by FAR the worst part of our vacation. I highly recommend going somewhere else or starving yourself rather than eating the food at Newbury Palace Pizza. read more

Truly amazing, the palace special had pepperoni, ham, onions, green peppers, and sausage on it. The bbq chicken pizza had bbq sauce, red onions, chicken, and cheese on it. All very good. Also ordered fries which were amazing, they were made from potato's, sprinkled with oregano, salt, and pepper. About her great thing I've ordered is the meatball sub. Not bad. I got a large pizza tonight. Large is more like a medium. If you want a large pizza get the family size. Prices are reasonable. I enjoyed the crispy and fluffy crust, nicely toasted on the bottom. I can't stand soggy pizza, so I give them an A for the crust. Sauce was flavorful and had a nice sweetness. Cheese was a bit much. I'm not sure if they use cheddar or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar, but it was too much and took away from the other favors, especially of my toppings. A good pizza needs simple mozzarella. I still think Marzelli Deli in Newbury has the best pizza in town. So overall B+ Palace Pizza. Thank you for your friendliness and superb customer service. Ps. I have been a customer of theirs for as long as they have been in business. When they started to offer delivery it was a long time coming for this area. I always ordered delivery and they accepted local checks. Tonight I ordered a delivery and when the driver showed up 45 minutes late he said they no longer accepted checks. When I ordered no one informed me of the policy and if their pizza was remarkable I would have found a way to make it work. But their pizza is only ok at best and I sent it back. No apology So in a small town if this is how you are going to treat your customers you will not be around for long. You are not attracting customers from Boston for your great pies yet filling a need to take care of the locals and obviously you do not care!!! read more

I love this place, it's only 2 miles from the house and the food is excellent. I usually get the veal parm and my son has steak and cheese. The onion rings are awesome and their pizza is the best in the area. I have had other items from the menu that are just as good, but these items are my go to for the most part. My sister and her family (who have a house on Sunapee who live near Boston), and my brother and his family (Boston) and my parents (Boston), and my family (we have a house on Sunapee(Connecticut) have driven by this place for years....There was over an hour wait for our usual restaurant and we found out a 45 minute wait at our other favorite restaurant...we have driven by Pizza Palace for years and always wanted to stop, but never did...we decided to give it a chance...Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Everyone, said it was the best pizza they ever had ever....by far! The crust is out of this world amazing, the restaurant is not fancy, but very nice and very clean, the service very friendly and our dinner was ready in no time. We have have gone back two times since then and each time was as good as the first. This is by far the best pizza on Sunapee and may be the best pizza you have ever had. It is only a 5 - 10 minute drive away from Newbury Harbor...but it is well worth the visit...they have outdoor seating, and they deliver for a very nominal fee...Their subs looked fantastic as the waitress was bringing out orders to other tables....we are going to try them as well as their salads....Enjoy! read more
