Sick of this! Every time I order a SMALL salad they deliver a large salad. I tell them I ordered a small. They say I paid for a large. And say "oh, would you like me to return it and bring you your money back". If I were to say yes it would make me look petty and cheap to my party. And my party would feel bad not sitting around while their food got cold waiting for my replacement. Stupid question! Horrible service!!! And in reality I don't want a trough of lettuce with nothing else in the bowl for $9.00!!! read more

Great soup and newk's salad. We split the salad and each of us got a cup of soup. Just enough after going to the movie.

Being local myself and loving what Cypress has to offer, Newk's is a great place for any day of the week. From there sausage and pepperoni pizza to there half soup and sandwich it's really a good place the environment is always easy going. Love it! read more

This place was bad. I got a Caesar salad and the lettuce was gross, the dressing was weak and bland, and just tasted off. I have BOUGHT better Caesar salad dressing. I also PAYED EXTRA for grilled chicken on my salad it was gross, tough and just weird. I also got a soup (the broccoli cheddar) and it was a little less than mediocre. The broccoli cheddar soup at Panera Bread was 10x better. Also the soup is only one size and that size is extra large, it was literally huge, 4 people could have shared it. The literal only good thing I had were the breadsticks (the one that come in a package, and are thin and crispy, like at Cafe Express.) Also I had gotten one of their brownies too and it was alright. They said they made them there, and they might have, but maybe out of a box. Overall I will not be coming back and would not recommend unless you want some pre-packaged breadsticks. read more

Love their salads but the last 2 times we picked up our favorite one the lettuce was not fresh. It was brown in spots and I found something that looked like green slime. These salads are not cheap so I expect fresh lettuce. read more

We were visiting family and wanted to take our granddaughter out for lunch and she picked Newk's. We had been once before and this visit was just as good as before. I saw another recent review saying that the place was dirty and smokey. I find that hard to believe. We when at the peak of lunch on 8/20 and the place was packed, clean, not smokey and the food was delish! Granddaughter had the Margarita Pizza, wife had the Chicken Salad Sandwich on a croissant, and I had the Italian Sandwich. The staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Why/How did we overlook this tucked-away Cypress gem for so long? Each section of the menu lists many choices of appetizers, soups, sandwiches, salads, desserts, lunch/dinner combinations and family drinks. Though we've eaten only a few, most of the menu selections appear deliciously different from the competition, in freshness and variety of ingredients; skill, imagination and professionalism of preparation; and originality and compatibility in garnishing and presentation. The ambience has been typically conversational though not at all noisy. We'll return often for this welcomed eating experience. read more

i love this place. nice fresh salads be sure to ask for dressing on the side. yummy lipton ice tea and sweet tea. They give you a nice big take home cup. Before i was gluten free i would enjoy their sandwiches. i cant talk about it or i will want one. The staff is always helpful which i need going in alone with two kids. A disappointment really. It's basically a Cafe Express but without the quality or service. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza expecting that the toppings would be reasonably sized. When it came out (with no plate to eat it on, just the tray it was cooked on) the toppings were baby fist sized chunks. Whole olives, artichoke heart halves, golf ball sized feta. It was an exercise in patience trying to eat it. Maybe I would have had better luck with a sandwich. read more

BUGS IN MY SALAD! I ordered a caeser salad to go last Wednesday from Newk's. When I eat my salads I don't put the salad dressing all over the salad, I just take a stab of my lettuce and then dip it into the dressing cup. So when I went to eat the salad I opened the lid and proceeded to eat. I got half way thru I noticed something black moving in my salad. The bug was on its back and I could see its legs moving. I called my husband over as I said "what the hell is this"! It clearly was some kind of bug and it was indeed alive. So, my husband killed it. I look at the rest of my salad that was left and found 4 more dead flies! They were black and they had small wings similar to fruit flies. So immediately we called Newk's and the General Manager called us back and wanted us to bring the salad in the next morning. So...we did and we left all the flies there so she could see them. She said she was really sorry and blah, blah, blah. So she said she would let the owner (Barry) know. My husband told her that he was going to take me to the doctor and she said I should because their lettuce comes from Mexico. Later that day Barry called my husband and said that there was no way the flies came from his place! He had a funky attitude and told us that none of this was his problem. I said to him 'you can't even offer and apology?" and he said that he wasn't saying sorry for anything he didn't do! I told him I was going to call the Health Department. He said there was nothing the Health Dept. could do to him. Well.....we'll see about that! I called the Health Dept that same day and told them the whole story. That day they were visited by the Health Dept and they received many violations. Of course the Health Dept didn't find the flies in the salad because Newk's got rid of all their lettuce and the trash they put it in! I used to like eating at Newk's.....but because of their sucky response and their lack of ownership to the problem, I will never eat there again. People......CHECK YOUR LETTUCE!!!!! If you every find a bug/fly in your salad.....don't expect Newk's to be sorry about it! read more

I came in to newk's today with a rather large order. I needed assistance to take the beverages and food back to my car. In the parking lot I was carrying both drink carriers one in each hand full of drinks. One of the drink carriers bottoms out and the drinks fell in the parking lot. When I came inside I stated that there needs to be better drink carriers so this doesn't happen as this was not the first time it's ever happened to me before. The manager at the restaurant stated I've never seen that happen before so it must have happened to you twice and implied it was my fault that the drinks fell out at the bottom of the drink carrier. I thought that it was very rude that he would state it in that manner. Newk's is known for having great food however customer service can make or break a restaurant for me. As a hospital manager I certainly would apologize for the drink carrier mishaps since it was not the customer's fault read more

Best Cesar salad I've ever had, my only complaint is I can't eat Cesar salad anywhere else now. Lol. The potato soup is delish!!!!!!!! Chocolate cake is so yummy, I haven't even tried any of the other desserts. My man isn't a pizza person at all but loves their pizzas. Can't say enough good things about this place. Lunch on a weekday is a bad idea. With the combination of the place being packed with middle-aged women attempting to lose weight while eating vastly oversized salads and the lunch hour smoke, it is almost undearable. However in the evenings this newks is second to none. read more
