Red White and Blueberry Salad

Tried the red, white & blueberry salad. Delicious! Ate every bite! Sandwiches and soups are always good too. So are the pizzas. Food is always fresh tasting!

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.

Kid and dog friendly - lots of cute dogs around. :) The beer and root beer are the stars of the show, they're brewed with the geothermal spring water - only brewery in the world to do that! The beer was tasty, and some had interesting ingredients like dill, basil, and jalapeño. I did wish they had a non-pickle flavored sour. I'm happy they offer flights to try different varieties! Food was decent, delicious fries and the elote nuggets were to die for. The bacon on my BLT had a nice peppered flavor. We finished off the afternoon with a root beer float which was lovely! They have a little gift shop (really just a small shelving unit) with goodies you can buy, if you're into that at breweries. We picked up some can cozies for $3 a pop!

The restaurant itself is located in a historic brewhouse. With all of that being said... you can certainly expect a wait, especially during peak hours. For our party of three at about 11 on a weekday during the middle of spring break, it was about an hour wait. Thankfully, it wasn't too big of a problem. We still had some parts of Bathhouse Row that we had to explore. When there was a spot available, we got the notification through text. We headed on over. We were seated at a table right behind the host. It was shared with another pair but there was enough room so it wasn't too much of a problem. Usually, we don't drink. However, because of the uniqueness of this place, we just had to try. We aren't built for the Beer Bath that allows you to sample all 18 beers on tap. Instead, we opted for the flight which was more than enough for us. I'll be honest... I can't tell the difference at all between the different beers. Nevertheless, that speaks more to my inexperienced beer palate. The four taps that we got were all tasty and lasted us through the meal. For starter, we got the fried cauliflower. Crispy exterior that made our daily veggie intake that much more delicious. Paired very well with ranch. For main, I got Rose's Burger. The bacon jam provided a good amount of sweetness that was balanced by some of the spice from the pepperjack cheese and the savoriness of the burger itself. My mom got the reuben sandwhich. It was standard. My dad got the steak sandwich - it's basically a philly cheese. I thought it was particularly good especially since they use beer cheese made in-house. In terms of serivce, I will say that it was slow at times. However, as mentioned, this place is incredibly busy so definitely gotta give them some grace. In the future, I'd definitely come back again given the quality and uniqueness of Superior Bathhouse

After a full day exploring Hot Springs, Arkansas, this BBQ absolutely HIT the spot…read more Before you even walk inside, look to your left -- you can see the giant smokers going and smell that incredible smoky BBQ aroma before you ever reach the door. Honestly, that smell alone had us excited to eat. The setup here is casual and easy. You order at the counter, grab a table, and they give you a number, though a lot of the food was ready so quickly that several items were handed to us almost immediately after ordering. Our group shared all kinds of things so we got to try a little bit of everything. My daughter and I split a loaded baked potato topped with pulled pork and added several sides to the table because honestly...we wanted to try it all. The fried okra was especially delicious, but truly everything we had was good. Around the table: * My dad ordered the nachos * My mom got a sweet potato along with brisket-stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon (which she absolutely loved) * We sampled sides galore and nobody left hungry The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and service was FAST without making the experience feel rushed. This felt like exactly what good Southern BBQ should be -- flavorful, generous portions, no unnecessary fuss, and the kind of meal that makes everyone at the table happy after a long day out exploring.

The smoke aroma hits you before you open the door which is nearly always a good sign. Both of us decided on their Special Op's sandwich, which comes with a Brisket, Pulled Pork, a choice of sausage (jalapeño pineapple or four cheese), a rib and a side of beans. We each ordered a side of potato salad and we split an order of Brisket Twisters which are jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Neither of us finished and both of us had to get a to-go box. Overall everything was really good. Everything was fresh, the hot foods were hot, not warm or dried out, from sitting around in a warming cabinet, for hours, and the potato salad was well chilled, not room temperature. It is things like this that I notice, and make a difference. The only thing I was not keen on was the rib. It was extremely soft almost mushy and literally falling of the bone. I know thats how many people like their ribs. I just prefer my ribs to be a little less well done and have a bit of a pull to the meat to get it off the bone, so I am not going to ding them for that. The counter where you order and get your meal is clean, bright and cheerful, the staff are all really pleasant, friendly and helpful. The dining room is fairly large and roomy, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy your food. Overall, a really good dining experience and we both agreed we would dine there again.

The cinnamon rolls they had an entire page in the menu dedicated to some sweet, swirly cinnamon goodness options but all of them were $11.11 so I chose the classic one for $5 & change. Don't think I've ever seen a cafe or restaurant where most of their prices are with either the same 3 or 4 digits lol Reason why it's not 5 stars is the stimuli in that place was way more than I can handle. I ended up having to take deep breaths in car & take time to regulate my nervous system before driving off. Everything echoed & seemed like the decibel of sound doubled. From the blender for smoothies to the emptying out the coffee grounds from espresso machine against the trash can to the ear piercing drag of the chairs from patrons. Not the most peaceful place to eat & I certainly couldn't comfortably hold a phone conversation. Wouldn't hesitate to return but a to-go order it would be!
