I've only been to Newk's once, but I'm adding it to my regular lunch places list. First, the food comes out pretty quick. I had an Italian sandwich - it was good and spicy. I also liked how they have Sweet Tea that they sweetened with Splenda for those concerned about sugar and/or carbs. read more

I went to Newk's because everyone was raving about the popular franchise opening in Jax. I was impressed, but not blown away. I got the Vegetarian sandwich, which sounded like a yummy mix of portobello, pesto and goat cheese among other things, but it was a little soggy and overwhelming. Whenever I come here the service it's always fast and courteous. The restaurant is very clean and refreshing. The portions for their salad bowls are enough for two meals. I've had their Cuban sandwich for lunch and most recently went back for a dinner in which I chose the Ultimate Salad with honey mustard dressing and chicken. Both were very delicious. Newks offers free prewrapped bread sticks, pickles, and other condiments that are located at a self service station. Newks also has a variety of sandwiches and salads premade for their Grab and Go menu which has a side door right next to the cooler and cashier for those in a rush to get back to the office. I have been to this location about 10 times since it opened. The place is ALWAYS clean. It seems to be adequately staffed EVERY visit. I always order the same thing, a large salad with chicken. So after eating 10 of the exact same salads- I can say- Its really Good! I like the jazzy bowl too! You can really mix the salad without it falling out on the table (a minor detail) but a nice touch regardless. So why not a 5 star? The problem I have is with the selection IE. (The menu) Not enough diversity. And what my wife has ordered has always seemed smallish and not very appealing. I guess that's why at the moment of truth, the menu, the register girl waiting on my decision I always cave to what I know is good. Hence I always end up with the same thing. So summary. Salad with chicken is excellent and large. The service is good and the place is clean. So if you are into a good salad- I highly recommend this establishment. read more

I ordered a salad here and I made a mistake getting a whole salad or not asking for the dressing on the side. They drenched my salad in dressing that I couldn't eat it even though I hated the thought of wasting it, I did. The pizza tastes like a frozen pizza I can make at home from walmart. Met a friend for dinner to catch up. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were staring at the menu board and the cashier came out and told us about new items and some of her favorites. I live near Newk's and I have driven pass the place dozens of times during the past two years. I now feel like a fool for doing so. The food is fresh and light like a deli, but the portion size is very generous - a facet that I'm big on. During my first visit there, I ordered a shrimp sub and a shrimp caesar salad. My original thought was that there would be very few shrimp in both of the dishes. I thought the shrimp would be small and not flavorful. Again, I was wrong. Both dishes came out with an abundance of shrimp. My wife had a chicken panini thing and it was just as delicious. I also like how spacious the interior is. The middle of the restaurant has a condiments bar for people looking to customize their food. The wait staff was kind and fast. The interior was very clean and shiny. The only thing that plaques Newk's is that, like most places in this city, the restaurant is tucked in a strip mall. And with so many strip malls around here, it's easy to fly right past this place - like I did so many times. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot in Jax. It's affordable, and the portions are generous. If you're feeling like soup, salad and sandwiches, this is the perfect place. I stopped by for a salad at lunch, I was completely shocked at the $15 bill. $15 for a grilled vegetable salad with chicken, no drink! This was my second visit. I wasn't impressed the first time, but I like to give a business the benefit of the doubt. The salad was completely bland, the only taste was from the dressing. Such a disappointment! This is a great place to go on a Saturday afternoon. It is family friendly and fast. I always get the half sandwich and soup deal. They have a really wonderful selection but the spicy crab is the best! Portions are huge and salads fresh. Favorite new lunch spot!!! This place was so good! I had a half of a grilled chicken sandwich and salad and my fiancé had the Italian sandwich. I have been more than a dozen times and am physically addicted to the grab-n-go (LOVE THAT!) Roast Beef and Provolone sandwich. Piled high with actual roast beef always yummily rare, fresh lettuce/tom, thick sliced provolone on super good wheat berry bread! Drooling just thinking about it. Wash it down with an Orangina...always grab several bottles for the hous..didn't think they made it anymore. Staff is very nice and know the menu, quick service too. Restaurant is always pretty busy, but always clean and they have a killer condiments bar. We have tried several items and all are high quality, next time the pizza! I eat at Newk's whenever possible. I love their salads, especially the chicken salad. I often buy extra to take home for later. The summer salad with fresh berries is great, too. And it's huge! I just tried their tomato basil soup. It had a kick to it and was delicious! The Newk's Q is a favorite. You just cannot beat it! The only way they could improve is to have free soft serve ice cream like Jason's Deli. I love this restaurant! I'm so glad they opened in Jacksonville! read more
