Newk's is my go to midweek/Friday lunch spot. Always fresh and consistent. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating.

I frequent this establishment in person quite often and have always had a good experience. I ordered delivery today and it was disappointing. Recommendation: eat there in person - the staff is super helpful and extremely nice. I had the privilege of seeing a newer team member being trained and their trainer was treating them with patience, care and respect. That goes a long way in my book as a customer. As for the score. I would have given them 5 stars but due to this evening's order, I see inconsistencies in service. It is not due to delivery, it was the problems with the food. Overall: food is fresh, yummy, offers lots of healthy and guilty pleasure options. Tonight: Wins: salad and pizza were amazing. We love eating here for their pizza and Mac and cheese. My kids are easy to pleaSe so the simple pizza is great for them. It is a little pricey but we love coming back. My favorite salad is the black and bleu salad. My husband loves their sandwiches and bisques or soups. My only negative feedback was last nights salad. It was DRENCHED in dressing, I usually ask for it on the side but forgot. This time was a bit of an overkill. It was tasty but I could barely finish a fourth of it bc of how much dressing there was. I love deli's, so I'm a sucker for a good, well crafted sandwich. This location is next to everything, clean, and has nice customer service. A smidge overpriced for what they offer, though. Their cups for sodas are large, and re-useable! I love the Newk's Q sandwich. Full of calories and flavor . The BBQ chicken pizza is also good. Me and the wife have been wanting to try Newks for a very long time however we always just walk past it. We finally popped in. She ordered the Greek Salad and Chicken sandwich and I had the Pepperoni and Sausage pizza with the French Dip Sandwich. Her Greek Salad was amazing..... the sandwiches were okay, I don't think I would order again. The pizza was good, light sauce with a nice outside crust, the rest of the crust was very floppy which made it difficult to eat. I've always loved Newk's and eat there often, however I will not be going back (at least not any time soon)! I walked in to place a to go order on the evening of 11/16. I got home and started eating my salad and noticed the first few bites had a gritty taste. I assumed it was a bad piece of lettuce or something so I start to look through the salad and see a large clump of something brown. I picked it up and I'm 99% sure it's a clump of mud! I smooshed it between my fingers and it was for sure the consistency of mud (gritty). I was immediately disgusted and nauseous. But the location was closed by this time. I took my salad back to the store the next day and the manager was confused as I was when he saw the dark brown mystery clump but agreed it looked like mud. He gave me a refund from my order and said he was going to let his manager know about this. For the inconvenience, the Rewards department added 250 points to my Newk's account. (For reference, an adult fountain drink costs 500 Newk's reward points so 250 gets me nothing). Moral of the story: check your foods before you eat it. Especially when ordering within an hour of closing time and they're already starting to clean up. read more

Made a Togo order here for a bbq chicken pizza and grilled chicken sandwich. The ice in the beer cooler was empty and there were 4 quarters, a rubber band, hair and slime on the bottom of the bin. I told the cashier about it needing ice and what was in it and she said that's gross. Then they refilled the ice and didn't clean anything out of the bin. I watched this happen. Upon leaving, I checked my order as always and the chicken on the pizza was dried sprinkles like hard bacon bits. I brought it back in and asked the cashier if it was supposed to look like that and she said yeah, that's why I don't get the bbq chicken pizza because when it goes through the oven it gets dry and hard. They remade the pizza for me with chicken on the side. I told them thank you very much and I appreciated it. The young lady cashier ignored me. Great Food! The shrimp Pizza, Salads, and Mac &Cheese dishes all tasted fresh and homemade. The selection of drinks is also top notch. Outdoor seating is limited but the interior is very comfortable and clean. The people are courteous and helpful especially when ordering your food. Add some Flatscreen TV's and wireless internet access so the big games won't be missed and think you may have found a great restaurant the whole family can enjoy. First time here, and it was SO good. I mean, really good. When you walk in, to your left is a huge, well detailed menu. After you order, you are given a number to place on your table. While you wait, there is a station at the front of the seating area where you can get cracked black pepper, sea salt, breadsticks, various toppings, dressings, napkins, etc. I had the lobster and crab bisque and half of the Italian sammich, and I was impressed. Sounds good on paper but failed to execute anything remotely remarkable. All it seemed it was was charred cheddar with a white cheese sauce and cheap noodles. I had been a fan of this place since it opened, until recently. The last few times I've been here have been inconsistent. I raved about this place when it first opened. I was so excited by the entire menu. I felt as if I could not make a poor choice when it came to ordering a meal. I have ordered soup, salad, sandwiches, pizza, and cake. I used to come back to work after lunch and rave about this place so much that other people would go and order from NEWK'S too! The service was terrific. I was greeted every time I walked through the door! The staff was so friendly! They would offer recommendations. I loved it! Well after a few months of being open, everything has changed. The afternoons are not so awful, but do go there later in the day. The device is lacking. The tables are dirty. The floor is dirty. The salad bar is dirty and messy. The cashiers stand behind the counter and eat food that they are wrapping to be sold, while wearing no gloves. I told one of the managers about it. As I was telling him, I told him to turn around and look because they were still doing it. He did talk to them about it. They did stop, but it was clearly allowed to begin with. I was given a $30 gift card to come back. I did. I came back 3 times with the gift card. Yesterday I went there again. This was the icing on the cake, my mother found a strand of hair in her salad. We both immediately stopped eating. We asked for a refund. I told the cashier that I did not want a gift card because I WILL NEVER BE BACK! CLEAN UP YOUR ACT! We tried Newk's for a safety meeting lunch and the overall consensus was, "Meh." You know there's disappointment in the room when everyone starts talking enthusiastically about other restaurants. I had the 5-cheese pizza and I'm not impressed. It was overly greasy, chewy, and overcooked. The "fresh" basil was gray and if there were sun dried tomatoes on there they were really well-hidden. So my first impression of Newk's in Lafayette was less than spectacular.
