I don't like writing negative reviews, but I feel it's important to warn others about my experience. After a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, areola/nipple tattooing was the final step in my healing journey. After my first session, one areola was noticeably smaller than the other, oval instead of round, and positioned higher than the other. I sent Debbie a picture of this, and she said we'd address it in the second session. The second session put the areola in a better position, but the shape is still "off" and the nipple is too high (not centered). Debbie said she couldn't move the nipple position. After struggling with this for 4 months since the second session, I requested a full refund, but she instead offered to have me return for more work. I then asked for at least a 50% refund, but she still said I should come back for more work. After two clearly unsuccessful sessions, I have zero confidence in Debbie's work or her ability to fix this. I'll now be seeing a different tattoo specialist in this area to correct Debbie's subpar work. What made the experience even more difficult was that during my first appointment, Debbie spent most of the two-hour session talking non-stop about her recent trips, her back issues, the history of her practice and her personal life struggles (complete with tears!). As someone dealing with the emotions of a difficult cancer journey, I found her lack of sensitivity deeply disturbing. This was a procedure that required compassion and focus, and unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I was so emotionally exhausted after that first session that I had to sit in my car for quite a while before I felt capable of driving. Debbie wears special medical eyeglasses, so she doesn't have to bend over and strain her back while doing her work. I can't help thinking the glasses are altering her depth perception, and that's why one of my tattoos turned out so distorted. Be careful when getting sensitive work done by Debbie. I used to really love Debbie's work until she became so distracted with moving her office and travel that her work deteriorated. I saw her for a touch up of a camaflouge tattoo that I had really loved in the past. I couldn't see the white scar that I had from removing a mole. However, on my last visit over 1 year ago, I paid 150 for a touch up, then I looked in the mirror immediately after and told her that I was unhappy, that it looked like a cigarette burn. She told me it was my skin. That this happens over time. I asked her to remove it to which we made an appointment. When I showed up she told me she didn't have the light she needed to see and that I should go have this cut out by a plastic surgeon. I went to go see Dr. Elstrom, who then told me this was clearly a bad tattoo. He said it would look worse to cut it out. So I called Debbie and asked her to please remove the tattoo. She said she would but would need to charge me 250. I paid and had her do her work. Then I was left with a white spot and an even clearer black ring. She said she would no longer work with me as she couldn't make me happy. That led me to a further search to which I am so grateful! 2 weeks ago I went to see Emily with Camo Beauty and I am thrilled! Go to her page to see the final results. I didn't want to post them here as I didn't want any confusion as to who deserves the credit! I asked for the address because last time I used I didn't I followed an expired address. They texted me an incorrect address that doesn't even exist which I was looking for for 15 minutes (933 Dover st) which is when I just gave up to go into a building that google said was the address (901 Dover st) . Which is when she called to let me know that she can't take me anymore. I drove over an hour took time off work. Just so I could be rudely told that they don't have time for me.. do they not check the texts before they send them? Don't they check the texts when the client is a little late to make sure they didn't send the wrong address? She even texted me after did she not see the typo she made? They didn't even believe me when I said they sent me that address was implying I was lying. They could have been a lot more understanding and professional! The whole time both of Ligia and the older blonde owner's (Debbie) voices was very rude and raised! Honestly was not expecting this from them. So sad I wasted so much money and time on a place that stoops so low as to talk rudely and very loud not caring about manners and being professional. The owner only started correcting the way she was speaking after I informed her that the call was being recorded. All of the sudden she lowers her voice and starts attempting to be more professional. It's incredible night and day how people act when they think they won't be recorded. And to top it all off she won't offer me a refund for my eyeliner touch up... (I don't feel comfortable having her tattoo my eye after both of them yelling at me.) I'm supposed to "go back and have the rude yelling woman tattoo my eyeliner which is right next to my eyeball! Getting the tattoo is torture enough but getting it from someone who was so rude and degrading is just on some other level! Very sad outcome of my money spent. I have been to Debbie four times now. I researched a lot before going. The first time was great and my brows came out like I hoped they would since its on your face! I was surprised that I had to go back for touch ups. I went back for a re-brow a year and a half later same location and all was good. I went back again for a re-brow and all was good and left with a credit that the receptionist said she could just attach to my account for next time. Just know that permanent make up is NOT PERMANENT! The re-brow was $ 200.00. I just went back for another re-brow 04-16-18 and when making the appointment was told they had increased their prices $ 50 so it would be $ 250.00. They had moved. When arriving to her new location I found she had dissolved her practice that included an assistant, a wellness doctor, a plastic surgeon and a facialist. She now rents a room in another doctors office, so why the increase? After the procedure when checking out I was told that it was going to be $ 500.00 not $ 250 and they could not find my credit. Its now been three weeks and one brow has gaps and the other has a dark line on the top and both brows were extended 1/2 inch on the ends which make me look like mommy dearest and the color is a blueish grey. So sad I will be looking for a tattoo removal to takes the ends off if possible. I read Debbie's reply. Again here are the main issues: Most important the issue is the result of my eyebrows. They did not look like any of the pictures on the site and did not look like that before. Beyond happy with my eyebrows! I originally got my eyebrows microbladed my Debbie about a year and a half ago and I just got them refreshed. Although it is on the expensive side, I did my due diligence in doing research to make sure I went to the best of the best. After all, this is a procedure to your face! You don't want to just go to anyone for something like this. Debbie is a true professional. She went through the whole process of what microblading is, what to expect, after care etc. You can tell right away how smart and highly trained she is. I appreciated how transparent she was about what I personally was going to experience. I'm dark, have oily skin, I do hot yoga and spin on a regular basis so she told me right off the bat that I would be needing touch ups more than the average person. Additionally, I can tell she uses high quality products on you. She numbed me so good. I didn't feel any pain at all on both times I've been here. I just signed up with Yelp, I don't care to write reviews however in this situation I hope my review will help others. I went to here to have my areolas reshaped. The fact that she was on The Doctors show sold me unfortunately. She absolutely destroyed my chest by leaving dark purple unsymmetrical outside Circles around my areolas when I lost the inside color. I paid her $600 which came with a free touch up. The receptionist was so rude she said I wasn't welcome back. I left several messages for Debbie to please call me never to get a response. I emailed her several times only to get and extremely rude email back. I never got my free touch up I paid for. My mother is 85 years old and looks like she's in her 60s. She's very aware of her young looks and maintains her health and skin. My mother looked great from the moment she left the office and each day she is more pleased with her no fuss, no muss eyeliner! I have been going to Debbie for about 10 years now . The first work she did on my face was to correct permanent makeup I had done that did not turn out well. I learned the hard way that when it comes to putting permanent pigment in your face, you should never go to anyone who isn't at the top of their field. That's the mistake I made the first time! I wanted a good deal, and I was new to the idea of permanent makeup. Even though the fact that the word permanent was in the title, I just assumed that if someone said they knew what they were doing, that they did. I know now that just about anyone can market themselves as a "professional", even using before and after pictures that are not their own work. I wish someone had warned me of exactly how much can go terribly wrong when you let someone tattoo your face. Anyway, back to Debbie...I cannot express my level of gratitude to this woman for not only fixing me, but for also giving me the results that I originally envisioned when I started the whole process. She took my dark maroon, multi-colored lips (mind you, I am a Caucasian with blonde hair and blue eyes) and transformed them to a soft, bubble gum pink. It took several sessions and a lot of patience, but a few treatments later, my lips were pretty again. She also transformed my uneven eyeliner into something that I not only love, but I actually get compliments on all the time. Women frequently ask me how I get my eyeliner so perfect - without it looking harsh. And I have to confess to them, that I woke up that way :-). A few years later, Debbie did my eyebrows, which were virtually invisible, being that I'm such a light blonde. And she gave me the loveliest, most natural looking brows I could have ever hoped for. I wish I had done it sooner, but I was afraid they might look too dramatic against my pale skin. I have seen where permanent brows can look harsh and a bit like someone took a marker to the face. But she did hair strokes instead of solid color on mine, and it turned out soft, with just enough color to add some definition. I've always tinted my brow hair monthly which makes them pop a bit more. I still tint sometimes, but I find now that I really like the way they look with or without the tint. So, it saves me time. All in all, my journey with permanent makeup has been a bumpy one. But it has served me. After everything I've been through, I would never again even consider going to a discount place, using a Groupon or letting anyone touch my face who is not at the very top of their field. The money I saved, I re-paid ten-fold in embarrassment and suffering. Figuring out who really is at the top of their field and who is just copying pictures of other people's work, well that's a part-time job in and of itself. With clever marketing it's hard to decipher truth. But if it helps, here's a few things to look for that I had to learn the hard way: How many years in practice? How many believable positive reviews online? What is the credentialing of the technician? How professional and STERILE was the practice when you went in for your consult? (Sterility is huge here people....we're talking about needles, blood, pigments implanted in the skin, etc. If you think you can't catch something, you're kidding yourself.) Sterility is equally as important as the competence of the technician. Ask if there are any clients who you can talk with who have had work done at the practice. If someone has a well-established practice, there should be hundreds, if not thousands of happy permanent makeup clients. So being connected by phone with a few is not out of the realm of possibility. Incidentally, I happen to know that Debbie has done thousands of permanent makeup procedures. Lastly, is permanent makeup the primary business or is it something that they do on the side, along with esthetics, hair dressing or nails (which is often the case)? Debbie only does permanent makeup. Not only that, she teaches advanced permanent make-up techniques to other professionals from all over the world. I know this because I was her model on one such occasion. Good luck in your permanent makeup journey. When it's done right, it is STUNNING. I wake up in the morning and I feel really pretty without any makeup. And when I swim, I must say that I look just a little bit more put together than everyone else with melted makeup or makeup-free faces. It was so worth it!!! read more
