    Taco salad
    Lana S.

Love this place, so many choices from healthy to more indulgent, and such a wide variety of choices! My husband who is not vegan loves the steak protein platter and even craves it. My favorite options here are the santa fe chicken sandwich or the ranchero bean fiesta bowl. This visit, I tried the taco salad for the first time. It was delicious. The shakes are great as well, I love the orange cream in particular. The restaurant is always clean and the staff friendly. There's plenty of parking in the adjacent parking garage.

Obsessed!! I will definitely be back again and again! I had the chicken sandwich with a side of fries and the peach ice tea. My meal was delicious, I love the fries!! They taste to fresh. I can't wait to come back and try the chili cheese fries and milkshakes! I was concerned for like 30 seconds because I was like ... wow this is vegan!! It was one of the best vegan meals I've had. I am pretty picky.

You have to try this place! Omg non vegans will also LOVE THIS PLACE! EVERYTHING IS VEGAN!!!! So good it's shocking! My friend had the fried chicken burger! It was juicy and tender! I'm getting that next time for sure! I had the black bean burger with jalapeños! Spicy hot!!!! The coconut milk milkshake was delicious! Crispy fries! The place has easy underground parking! It was spotless! The bathrooms are so clean. The staff was really kind to an unhoused man who wanted a drink of water on a super hot Seattle summer day! I'm WOWED! I'm coming back again!!!!

Nice spot to visit from some convenient comfort food. Chili Cheeze fries, onion rings, Fire Cheeze burger/chikin sandwich all were enjoyable. Enjoyable spice level with their ghost sauce. Anyone could handle it. The staff were friendly, restaurant was clean and had lots of seating. Good plant based spot to grub before hitting the breweries!

My wife and I stopped here on our way to the Ballard Locks to enjoy one of the first days of the year that really felt like Summer. We had planned to get it to go. But the dining area was immaculate and super comfortable so we changed our order for here. I had the Fire Chzburger. The pepperjack chz and sauce was the perfect level of heat. So good! My wife (who is not vegan) had the Crispy Ch'kn and loved it. We shared some fries and a vanilla shake. The service was so friendly and the bathrooms so clean. This might be our new favorite stop!

Just opened! Celebrating with a cookies & cream shake

How I heard of this place: Vegan friends introduced us to Next Level, and when we came across the one in Ballard, we had to stop by to partake of our special gift of a free shake! Type of cuisine: Vegan burgers, fries and shakes. All things fast food, without the guilt of animal cruelty. Ambiance: Bright orange and fast food-y, the space is new, clean and family friendly. What I ordered: We selected a Cookies 'n Cream Shake on this visit, prepared with soy & coconut ice creams for a thick and sweet combination. What I loved: The combination of ice creams available for shakes. Why I loved it: Comfort fast food that is more environmentally friendly. Cost: Average

Not a vegan, just came for the grand opening. Thoroughly impressed with the level of planning and advertisement for the grand opening btw! The burger was great! Juicy, meaty, savory, definitely hits the spot. The fries were also pretty tasty. I really liked the sauce! The shake was not the best IMO, we got the soy/coconut mix base and has a very similar after taste to a protein drink. Of course, replacing dairy is pretty hard so considering that it's vegan it's pretty good! Overall, this place is a little pricey for a somewhat small burger, but it was still pretty tasty!

Cookies and cream shake, 1/2 soy 1/2 coconut base

This burger is pretty next level! We ordered some beyond burgers, a chick'n burger, special fries, and a cookies and cream shake. I'm not vegetarian/vegan, so my expectations weren't super high, but I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The portions are small for what you pay for, however. The burgers did seem quite a bit small, but flavor and texture-wise, it was so juicy and flavorful. We particularly liked the chick'n burger because the texture was crispy and a little chewy. The veggies on the burgers were also quite fresh and crisp. I'm not sure if I personally would prefer it over a hamburger, but it's definitely a very solid plant-based burger. The shake was creamy and delicious, we were recommended the half soy half coconut base for extra creaminess. I also really liked the special fries--they were like In-n-Out animal style fries but the fries were also seasoned, so super yummy!

The Dirty Jack-o-Lantern shake was a delicious, pumpkin-spicey, and rare treat for me!
    Peg C.

I never thought I'd go to Next Level Burger because I find vegan joints to have overly processed and pricey food, but when I had cravings for vegan soft serve recently, I ended up there to get their fall shake special called the Dirty Jack-o-Lantern! It included pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spices, vegan soft serve (I can't digest dairy products), crushed chocolate cookies, chocolate sauce, vegan whipped cream, and gummy worms. It was mighty good and gave me all the fall vibes! The cashier was friendly too. I'm taking one star off because the wait was loooong, and the shake is super pricey, but still, I enjoyed my rare pumpkin spice shake experience.

    Not a shake. Just water.

It ended up being so tasty that I came here twice within a few days. The first visit, I got veggie tempura appetizer and chirashi rice bowl. A bit on the pricier side, I still wanted to give it a try. The veggie tempura are actually not separate pieces of vegetables in tempura, but kakiage (shredded veggies fried together) - still pretty good though. The chirashi rice bowl was fantastic - beautiful presentation as the fish came on the side, pretty fresh, and I appreciated the small details, like the wasabi stem inside the scallop and the shiso leaf/sprouts that accompanied the dish. The service was fantastic as well, considering I had a table for one during lunch hour. My second visit I was on the go, so I got the Classic sushi burrito, which again was maybe a little pricier than I would like, but it was worth it. Rice, fish/poke, crab mix, cucumber, avocado - it all mixed nicely wrapped within the rice paper outside, and was convenient to eat for takeout. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're around the area and feel like treating yourself to more than a soup/salad/sandwich...

I am so grateful for my experience at Life On Mars. It turned out to be the highlight of a…read moretumultuous Seattle trip and I look back on it fondly. We came here mostly for one thing: I absolutely could not wait for their gluten-free vegan chick'n pot pie. A pie i'd been waiting months to try. A pie unlike any other pie. A pie that I still think about to this day. We walked straight into a Cardi B drag show. And by "walked into" I mean we opened the door and Hot Pink Shade sashayed right in front of us. It was exactly the kind of welcome we love. It was also the first green flag in a sea of green flags at Life On Mars. I could barely sit still as I waited to order my GF/VG pot pie. We got the drinks outta the way (a peach hard cider for me and a fancy-schmancy cocktail for the lady). I was positively GIDDY when Anna came to take our order and I blurted out chick'n pot pie excitedly. I nearly died when she said they didn't have any. Normally it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but I was from out of town and had literally been craving this damn pie for months! And I lied, I didn't nearly die but I DID nearly cry and that's almost as bad. Even the bestie lamented about what a let down this was. Anna. Dear, sweet Anna. We must have looked really hard up because this sweet baby angel offered to ask the cooks if they could whip one up special just for me. Let me tell you why this is a big deal: For one, she didn't need to do that. That's going above and beyond, and she was such a graceful little buttercup when she did it. Second, making a gluten free biscuit is a finicky, precise, detailed process. It sucks, honestly, and I don't blame them for not having them every day. I nearly cried when she came back and told us the cooks said YES. And this time i'm not lying. It was beyond the type of customer service i'm used to. It was.... humane. It was...empathetic. It was...totally first world problems but it meant so much to me! Especially since Anna said it had been a DAY and she was at her wits end. For her to have a rough day and still have the grace and compassion to make my stupid GF/VG chick'n pot pie dreams come true.....well, yeah, it made me a bit teary eyed. The pot pie was delicious, as expected. It was nostalgic and comforting, like a big hug in a bowl. The flavors were rich and deep, the biscuit soft and flaky; it was one of the most delicious things i've tasted on my GF/VEG journey. Between the food, the drinks, the customer service and the drag show......this was five stars all around. No doubt. I don't see the GF chick'n pot pie on their menu anymore. Maybe it's a seasonal thing? I hope it comes back, i'll be checking. And when it pops up again, so will I. Thank you, Anna. Thank you to the cooks on 2/19/26. Thank you to Hot Pink Shade, ISIS and King Leo Mane. Just, thank you.

I went here on a Friday dinner, right after the dinner / pre-theater rush, as this place is right next to Paramount Theatre. I got the chicken schnitzel and the Practical Magic cocktail. The chicken schnitzel is quite lovely. The potato salad and the pickled cabbage can be a bit tangy but it cuts the fattiness of the chicken schnitzel. I also enjoyed the curry mustard that goes really well with the schnitzel. $32 is a little bit higher than what I would want to pay, but the quality is there. Practical Magic is quite a pretty cocktail - it has gold stars sprinkled on top. It is a more tart drink with beet and a smokiness from the mezcal. I enjoyed it When the bill came, it was quite an interesting check cover since it says Paybill instead of Playbill. Those theater booklets you get in Broadway shows. Service is pretty good. I had a call during dinner but they still made sure to check up on me occasionally and filled water frequently. Thankfully they are open today on the Fourth of July (they will just close a little earlier for the holiday), and I was happy to see that not much has changed since my last visit. Without even realizing it, I ended up ordering the exact same drink I got the first time: a Matcha Float with mochi. I guess you really can't go wrong with it because it's still just as creamy and satisfying as I remembered. The only tiny downside is that it only comes with three small mochi balls, so for almost $9 I wish there were a few more. However, the quality of the matcha is consistently excellent, sooo I don't regret coming back. They have wonderful customer service too! The employee helping me at the register was incredibly patient while I stood there trying to decide what to order. As an awkward introvert, I always feel a little flustered when ordering, but she never made me feel rushed or uncomfortable. She asked my sweetness preference for the Matcha Float, whether I wanted to dine in or take everything to go, and even carefully packed up my yuzu green tea packet with the rest of my order. She was very kind and thoughtful so just wanna say I really appreciate how welcoming she was. Even from my last Seattle visit two years ago, I still remember the employees being helpful and friendly here. I also have to recommend their desserts from my previous visit. (I skipped the sweets this time due to my budget but I still suggest picking up some of their sweets!). The Matcha Basque Cheesecake and the Matcha Tiramisu were both absolutely delicious, and I still remember how amazing they tasted even two years later. The tiramisu is only around $7 and is definitely worth trying if you're a matcha lover. This visit, I picked up their yuzu green tea packet to take home (last time, I got the hojicha). Each packet contains 15 individual tea bags and costs about $10 (not bad for how much tea is in each tea bag). They also sell matcha powder and other tea goodies. I'm looking forward to brewing the yuzu green tea at home since a good cup of hot tea is always comforting, especially when I'm sick (I've been recovering from a cold so tea has been a lifesaver to warm me up!). I actually stopped by for lunch since I didn't eat breakfast, and ordered the Sukiyaki Don (it was much more satisfying than I expected). I was craving a beef bowl and Nana's was one of the few places in the area within walking distance from my work, that was actually open for the holiday today, lucky me! It came with miso soup and a soft-boiled egg, and I was pleasantly surprised to find tofu and mushrooms in the bowl alongside the beef. It left me FULL, my tummy happy, heck yeah. Costs almost $20 but worth satisfying a craving. I won't lie.. I somehow managed to spend about $40 today between my meal, drink, and tea to take home. More than I intended to spend but no regrets, because everything was delicious and the quality has remained consistently high over the years. The only thing that made my visit a little uncomfortable wasn't the café itself. There were quite a few homeless individuals lingering around the front of the building, so I decided against dining out front like I had originally planned since I wanted to enjoy the nice weather, but one of them was panhandling me so I promptly left (thankfully I asked for my order to be packaged for takeout). That's obviously outside of the café's control, and it didn't affect the food or service at all. They still had many seats available inside but probably because it's the holiday. If I recall, the place was packed during the afternoon when I last visited on a weekday. I will still say that Nana's Green Tea continues to be one of my favorite matcha spots whenever I'm in Seattle. Between the consistently high-quality matcha, delicious meals and desserts, excellent selection of teas to bring home, and genuinely exemplary customer service, it's a place I'll happily keep returning to whenever I'm back in town and have the time to visit.

She had wanted to visit for a long time after hearing so many good things about it, so this was the perfect opportunity. The café itself is bright, modern, and absolutely adorable. It has a cozy, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax over dessert with family or friends. The menu is a dream for matcha and hojicha lovers. They offer an impressive variety of parfaits, floats, frappes, and lattes, with optional additions like mochi and red beans. It took us a while to decide because everything looked tempting. My daughter and I shared the Hojicha Mochi Parfait, while my son ordered the Hojicha Float with mochi. The parfait had a rich, authentic hojicha flavor and was generously layered with chewy mochi, crunchy cereal flakes, and creamy soft serve, giving it a wonderful mix of textures. The float was equally enjoyable, with a bold roasted hojicha flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and the mochi was a fun addition. The quality of the desserts was excellent, and while the prices are on the higher side, they reflect the quality of the ingredients and presentation. If you're a fan of matcha or hojicha, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
