The next time I was here, I made sure to get here incredibly early to get the lamb neck korma pie. I made a reservation at 5:30 to guarantee it. Based on availability, I probably could've walked in around an hour later and been fine, but didn't want to risk it since they only make like 30 in a day. To my great surprise, the dish came out just a couple minutes after ordering. It seems like the pie is already pre-made and they just pour korma over the top before serving. The server assured me that one would be for one person, so we each got one. From the moment it's presented, this looks like nothing you've seen before. The colors of the beige korma washing over the sturdy brown pastry is just a visually striking image. What's even crazier is there's so much that's obscured by this initial plating - things that you find out as you dig into the dish. After the first layer of pastry, the dish descends into a massive layer of lamb neck meat. And when I say massive, I mean the meat is so densely packed together into this pie you're left wondering how they fit so much into what's not a big shell diameter-wise. So, how is everything? It's amazingly good, at least for the first 3/4ths of the meal. I have to start with the pie crust, or the pastry shell, which is just perfect. The way it retains its shape, refusing to break down until real pressure is applied, is ridiculous. The texture is incredibly sturdy, and the taste is phenomenal. No matter what was placed inside this crust I would still enjoy it. It's crunchy, buttery, the inside wall is flaky, and the absolute highlight here. The korma is also very good. While certainly a westernized version of the sauce, lacking any spiciness and turning way more on the sweet side, it's still got enough flavor to be a great complement to the main pie. I do think a more acidic and spicy would've help offset the fattiness of the center item, but this sauce was still delicious on its own. Lastly, the lamb neck was great. Super fatty, of course, but braised to perfection, resulting in meat that's tender and melt in your mouth. Like I mentioned, there's an insane portion of meat here. Of course, this is all great until about 2/3 to 3/4th through the pie, where you begin to really feel the effects of an insane overload of fat. I can eat a lot of food, but this really started to wear on me. Here's where I have some slight issues - I think a) the inability to counteract the fat present and b) the amount of lamb neck needs to be toned down a bit, as ironic as asking for less meat might sound. One might have the attitude that if they're paying so much, might as well give them the most meat possible - but in my opinion, the best dishes are truly about balance. And when you can't expect someone to eat a dish and feel good about it afterwards, that's not the hallmark of a great dish. This could've been avoided if the server had mentioned that one pie could be split between two people, but that's not what she recommended. This resulted both me and my companion not finishing the meal, which I absolutely hate to do, but I was left with no choice in this case. The other part is the price. Each pie cost $50 each, which is a significant amount. Additionally, there was a 22% automatic tip even for a party of two, which is just way too high. The server didn't even tell us about this automatic tip which resulted in unintentionally tipping more on the tip pad. I would not hesitate to refer to this restaurant as overpriced. Overall, it's a truly inventive dish that's one of my favorite things I've eaten in Seattle, but the price and portion complicate things slightly. 9/10 read more

There is no online sample menu for LB's breakfast that I was able to track down, so from memory they are currently offering: the English Breakfast (standard size), the Full English (which is 2x the English - pics included in post for comparison), steak and eggs, a biscuit breakfast sandwich, the Scotch egg (same as the one on the dinner menu), and an assortment of smaller plates (Bubble & Squeak, English muffin with rhubarb jam, porridge with fixings, etc.). They are also serving Bloodies and a variety of N/A beverages. Overall, we liked the English options - the standard size is plenty of food for the average appetite. I did not care for how strong the warming spices were in the black sausage; the spices were the predominant flavor - I like to taste the minerally undertones of the other ingredients. We had an even better experience this visit (less salty, avoided things we didn't enjoy last time, better menu options) and everything was spot on! Service was attentive and they asked about our experience this time too. The sunchokes were cooked to perfection and when combined with the ladysmith cheese? No better combination. My honey went with the bavette and I had the korma lamb pie and colcannon and we were both entirely satisfied with our choices. Grateful for the green chili removal at the start. The lamb was so tender with no need for anything else to stand out. The sticky toffee pudding was generous and a wonderful finish. my favorite place in seattle area to grab a steak. perfectly cooked steaks - tender, beefy, funky from the dry age. i've tried the 100 day dry aged ribeye and also the daily bavette steak special and both were incredibly melt in your mouth delicious. very reasonably priced. theres a chalkboard for the daily specials- things rotate quite often, and i check their IG in advance :). all the sides, apps, and dessert i've tried have been very well done too, from the tomato salad (so smokey and delicious!) to sticky toffee pudding (creamy and buttery). highly recommend! read more

If you're a meat lover, this place is worth checking out. When you walk in, you'll see a lively open kitchen, with chefs grilling sizzling steaks. We came on a Friday night without a reservation and waited about 30 minutes to be seated at the bar. I actually prefer bar seating since I enjoy watching the action in the kitchen. We ordered the sunchoke salad, Beast Board, Scotch egg, foie bangers, and spotted dick for dessert. Everything was solid and well executed, but for the price, I was expecting more of a "wow" factor that never quite landed. My favorite dishes were actually the salad and the dessert. First time visiting Little Beast with a friend last week we shared the beef tongue in cheek pie special along with the Welsh rarebit and roasted beet salad. I had a Pimm's cup been ages since I had one classic cocktail. Some of the best service, we sat at the counter so we were able to see the dishes being expedited. We're fans of Beast and Cleaver so we definitely wanted to try The Little Beast. My friend snagged a Friday, 4:45 reservation for the three of us. Even though the restaurant is near the end of Ballard Ave NW, parking is very challenging. I think we'll walk to the restaurant next time. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were people already seated and eating their food. The counter seats have great views of the kitchen and the kitchen staff cooking and preparing the food. Our server, Chris was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. They have a chalkboard with their specials of the night listed. We ordered the T-bone, the apple salad, brussel sprouts, bread rolls and a plate of fries. For drinks we ordered a Sapporo beer and my friend ordered a glass of red wine. The food came out fairly quickly. The salad was very refreshing and the bread rolls were warm and soft. The T-bone steak was cooked beautifully and tasted tender with a lot of flavoring. The brussel sprouts had a taste of bacon, but it also had a spicy kick to it. The fries were crispy and tasty. We thought we would order more dishes, but after eating the T-bone steak and sides, we were full. Sadly we had no room for dessert. Visiting Seattle again and had an early dinner reservation to try out the menu here at The Little Beast and sure happy we did! I will say leave a little early to find parking because it was horrible when we got to the area around 4:30pm. Our server was excellent! She was very attentive and helped us so quickly. The drinks (cocktails and mocktails) were all great! And if you like a solid Pimm's Cup, it's great here! We tried a scotch egg (which was delicious) and a radish appetizer that was strange-- it wasn't bad by any means, just different. It's in this delicious vinegar type of sauce but had a very large layer of butter. Would get the scotch egg again, not the radish dish. We also got the lamb neck pie which is in a great curry sauce. We were excited to try Little Beast for the first time. The highlights of the night were definitely the chicharrones and the fall salad -- both were fantastic. The scotch egg was also one of the better ones I've had. The steak, while cooked nicely, just wasn't very memorable. In Seattle, there are several other spots I'd choose over Little Beast if I'm craving a standout steak, especially given that they specialize in meats. The biggest disappointment, though, was the Yorkshire pudding -- it arrived soggy and extremely over-seasoned. I've always enjoyed restaurants from the owners of Beast and Cleaver. I was excited to try The Little Beast and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. We ordered the Scotch egg, pig face, lamb pie, melon salad, and steak. The service was great. Our waiter checked on us often and updated us on our order. The fried outer layer of the Scotch egg was crispy with a perfectly soft yolk in the center. I really appreciated how they utilize every part of the animal in their dishes. It was my first time trying the pig face, which had a crispy, slightly sweet outer layer with tender meat underneath. I'm glad I shared it with a group as it can get a bit heavy. The steak was good but didn't stand out compared to the other more dishes we tried. I had their lamb pie in the past in their other pop-ups and restaurants which is a staple dish to order. Big highs and lows for this meal, so averaging it to a 4 rating. Loved the room and it's warmth. Hated the very loud electric music. Asked for it to be turned down, hoping to be able to hear the people at my 4-top. They turned it down a tiny bit. Spent the meal leaning in hard, in hopes of having a conversation. The scotch egg presentation was lovely, and we enjoyed the flavors. Would have benefitted from a touch of finishing salt on that perfectly cooked egg. Lots of different textures, it's definitely recommended. The menu said toasted bread, but we got rolls instead. Lucky us!! The rolls may have been the best part of the meal. We all ordered the roast beef dinner. The crispy potato half was a golden, crunchy delight. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but needed salt. (I'm really sensitive to salt and usually think restaurant food is too salty!). The cabbage was soft and delicious. The peas were fresh and simple. The Yorksire pudding was very well done, basically a crispy shell. I'm not mad at it, but wonder if I was missing some batter on mine? The beef was confusing. As we were leaving I asked a chef what is the approach to the beef. He said they give slices of various parts of the roast to everyone. That explains the pile of meat. At the bottom very thin slices of well done meat. Then some well done but a little thicker. Then what appeared to be a half inch thick slice of steak or prime rib that was very rare. If we had understood when ordering the 2 people at our table who like medium well could have ordered it that way. We had no understanding of their approach to cutting and serving a roast. We'll know next time. My only other comment about the entree plate is the gravy needed more seasoning, especially some pepper. The desserts all seemed unusual. We decided to try the chocolate pudding. None of us were a fan. Very odd, vegetal flavor, half savory half sweet. The only bites enjoyed included the candied hazelnut bits. We shared the smallish serving amongst the 4 of us and left half. No one wanted more after tasting it. The service was reasonably good, but we were surprised by the 22% service charge. I thought that was sufficient and didn't add additional tip. They are very new and have great potential! I hope they tweak some things and become very successful. read more

I had heard good things about little beast before coming but was not convinced English food would actually be good. They proved me wrong! I really enjoyed trying a couple of English classics - the meat pie and spotted dick. The meat pie was stuffed with lamb and the sauce on top had a nice kick to it, I am already craving the meat pie again! I also really enjoyed the sunchokes and tallow fries, even though they're not quintessential English food. Inside is reminiscent of an upscale English pub, from the chairs to the light fixtures. I was really excited to try this place over the weekend for brunch, but I was pretty let down. Start with the good: service was great, my wife got their Bloody Mary and I tried the Bloody Bull, both were very good. My wife got their steak and eggs, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the fries that came with it were tasty. The bad: I got the English breakfast, and found it underwhelming. The beans were decent, Cumberland sausage and black pudding were good. But both of our over-easy eggs were a bit underdone, lots of liquid whites. The fries on the bottom with the steak and eggs got soggy from the steak juices. The biggest letdown was the bread with the English breakfast. I'm not sure what they grilled it on/with, but it smelled overwhelmingly like cigarette smoke, it was completely inedible to me. read more

We didn't have a reservation but called ahead and they were very kindly able to save us a table on a Saturday evening. This was easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten. We tried the sausage roll, a salad, one of the meat pies, a charcuterie plate, and the trifle dessert special. Everything was absolutely incredible! They used a smoked Stilton in the salad that I will be thinking about for weeks. I also hadn't had a Pimm's cup since I was in England last, and it was such a treat! Our dinner was at 4:30pm so we were both a little shocked it was already out. The mushroom side dish was on the more sour side, but I loved it still anyhow, and the colcannon I thought paired perfectly with the steak, but the 2 together were a bit mush on mush, so just be prepared for what you order. The steak was cooked to perfection and was so unbelievably tasty. It was an absolutely lovely night and we both loved our dishes for Valentine's. Walked in on a Saturday several months ago (in July) around 7:30pm with no reservation and only had a 30 minute wait for two spaces at the bar. Overall, everything was good, but a little oversalted. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I'd be happy to come back again! Lamb neck korma pie - tasty and flavorful, packed full of meat, but a little dry. I would have loved more sauce, but it was so salty, it ultimately was a little hard to finish. The scotched egg was very yummy and perfectly executed. The yorkshire pudding was a tiny bit on the dry side and the sauce was extremely salty. The heirloom tomato salad was super flavorful and the tomatoes were incredible, but once again, the salt was generous. We were really looking forward to the floating island dessert, but it was sold out by the time we ordered! The very kind staff allowed us to try the fig leaf custard though, and that was delicious. Their steaks look huge and delicious but I'm not quite ready for the splurge and I'd need to come after skipping some meals / with more people given the sizes. read more

The Little Beast was an amazing experience for our Valentines Day. Think meats and cuts of meats you really can only get at a handful of places in the world. It is that special. We had a couple of amazing cocktails one with a piece of candied ginger we almost asked for more. The first WOW bite. The trio of Pates on the Chef's Charcuterie board were amazing and unique - highly recommend. The second WOW bite. The apple chicory salad was the WOW WOW bite of the night. Just get it. We selected a 100 day dry aged Wagyu New York Strip and Fries for the main. It was amazing. You ask? A WOW bite is the first bite that will be remembered for years to come. And you only get a few of those a year. Enjoy. Service was impeccable. Wines were limited but excellent. As a huge fan of everything Kevin Smith does, I couldn't wait to try his new English pub and The Little Beast did not disappoint. My group and I had to restrain ourselves from ordering the entire menu! The scotch egg alone blew me away. Fresh off a 10-day trip to London, I was thrilled to find such an authentic version in Seattle. Crispy on the outside, with a perfectly soft-yet-set yolk inside, it was seasoned flawlessly. The potatoes were unreal - crisp, decadently flavorful, and pillowy-soft in the center. And the meat? Cooked to perfection with exquisite seasoning. The staff was fantastic - friendly, fun, and full of great recommendations for both food and drinks. The space strikes the perfect balance between upscale-casual and classic English pub charm. A 3.5 rounded up, because we are probably not the target customers for this restaurant so it seems unfair to dock them too much. My husband and I enjoy a well prepared steak or pork chop on occasion, but we don't have the appetites to handle 20 oz of meat and there are not a lot of smaller meat options. We ordered a few small plates instead: duck rillette (3/5-needed salt); scotched egg (5/5-decadent, delicious, and something special... definitely recommend); chicory salad (4/5-beautiful but also needed more salt and a little more acid in the dressing); and dinner rolls (5/5-perfectly pillowy and sweet with a crispy top and a side of exquisite kelp-infused butter). Service was warm and kind, but rushed--we asked for our plates to be spaced so we could enjoy them slowly and they were all brought within 10 minutes of ordering, so we were in and out before the hour was up, and that seems awfully fast for such a pricey dinner. Atmosphere is a 3/5-they didn't quite nail the cozy British pub vibe they said they were going for: the restaurant felt cold and a little empty for a rainy Saturday night. I'm not sure what they are going for, honestly: if I'm going to spend $140 on a steak (you read that right), I don't think I'd choose a bar with loud music that scoots me in and out in 55 minutes. read more
