Delicious food! We love the noodle dishes and the Bahn Mi sandwich. We've been twice and both times the food was hot, fresh, and so flavorful! The only downside is it has a small area for sit down dining, and limited parking. So when the center and restaurant are busy it's best to order Togo! read more

I came in pretty late but it was still busy, which is always a good thing! Everything was great-the fries were perfect and definitely my favorite! This place is great, in the past 2 and a half years I've tried basically the whole menu and I decided to write my honest review about the restaurant. Starting with the staff, I love how all cashier are always nice and try their best to help you out, even when there's so many orders coming through the phone and apps. And the kitchen staff is also very nice and polite, they always make sure to get your order right and if by accident something happens, they will help ya as quick as they can. The whole place is very nice and comfy, and hopefully when the pandemic ends and it is safe for everyone to go out and not worry about the virus, people will be able to sit down, chill, and have a good time in the restaurant with good food and music. Speaking of it, time to review their food! I think that if it's your first time and you don't know exactly what to order, go for the Garlic Noodles, it's their specialty and there's no way you can go wrong with that (unless you're allergic to garlic). But there's so many other options too! From great sandwiches, to rice bowls and salads, Pho (a traditional Vietnamese soup, great for cold days) and great side dishes, like their pork egg rolls, bao, wings, popcorn chicken, and etc. And if you get thirsty, you can go with the basics and order a regular soda, or, you can do yourself a favor and order one of their iced beverages. If you need energy, go for the Vietnamese Ice Coffee, cheaper and stronger than that regular starbucks you drink. And if you're looking for a nice ice tea, there are three different options: Thai Tea, Peach Lychee Tea and Green Tea. I personally love the Green tea, the jasmine flavor on it is great and refreshing. The Peach tea is amazing and Thai tea is apparently the favorite between customers, so if you're new, definitely try that! If you could put anything negative on this review, is probably that your order sometimes takes more than 10 minutes to be ready, but that's because of the influx of orders that come one after the other. (Not a problem to me, I don't mind waiting a little when I know it's gonna be good). Please check this place out! The food here is pretty good although it doesn't even come close to comparing with the Orange location. I had the crawfish pasta and the fries with meat and egg. Pasta: it was spicy which isn't bad, but missed the rich flavor that the other location had. This one was easy to stop eating and taking breaks to talk. The crawfish was really chewy as well. It didn't taste bad at all just to be clear. It was just a huge let down when I expected the same flavor to show someone new. Fries: fries and egg were on point, but the meat was too sweet and chewy. It was not fit up well either so grabbing one piece meant you pretty much lifted the whole thing. Located in a small plaza next to Banzai Bowls, parking can be a little challenge but I came on a Wednesday around 3:30pm and there was plenty parking available. The restaurant is small that seats roughly about 16 customers. 10 table seats with one long table to share and 6 barstools. Since this wasn't my first rodeo, I already knew what I craved for and wanted to order. Bulgogi Sandwich: ($7.45)My Ultimate Favorite and Must Have! Tender flavorful pieces of bulgogi with cilantro,pickled carrots and radish on a fresh baguette served with a side of green spicy sauce. Ahhhhmazing! Garlic Noodles: ($5.95) with Jumbo Shrimp ($3.95) Garlicky goodness! Generous portions of noodles with succulent jumbo shrimps (4pc) Cajun Fries: Since there were for my kids, I requested no cajun seasoning. Fries came out perfect! Fresh and crisp! Peach Lychee Green Tea: ($3.45) It tastes great but after a few sips it started to taste sweet for my taste so I asked if I can get the Thai iced tea instead and there were kind enough to exchange it. If you're looking for Asian food in South Gate Nguyen's Kitchen will for sure be your new to go spot. They are open late night; closes at 1 am. The ambiance is relaxing during early in the day ( seems it gets popular more at night) Their chicken sandwich is flavorful, warm, and soft. Also, their bulgogi and steak bowl is filling. It was delicious. I will keep coming back to try the rest of the food in their menu. One more thing, the mango green tea in my opinion is their best drink. read more

The chicken garlic noodles where are 7/10 at best. Very salty. The chicken wings you can tell where very fatty, very low quality. I will never return here to eat. The parking here is a hit or miss, this little area can get pretty busy. The wait for the food was average, it seemed like there was only one cook and they're trying to hire more help. The layout of the place is very basic. Barstools along one side of the wall and a long table. Not optimal if you're looking for a lot of seating. There is limited outdoor seating since it's shared with other stores. The food...I really wanted to like this place a lot, but it fell flat for me. The price for the sliders weren't worth it for me. The burger was bland and the little baguette buns were underwhelming. The white meat chicken with garlic noodles was too salty. My party of 6 (30,40 & 50 year olds) called in our order prior to the restaurant closing. We made the decision to sit and eat in the restaurant since customers continued to walk in and order. As we dug in to eat with 12 minutes to spare before closing, a meaty staff member confronted our group. He cursed at us and threatened the men in our group. DRAMA WE DIDN'T ASK FOR - We found this place that opens late for food, it was alright. But what really left a bad taste in our mouth, is the kitchen staff that came out and confronted our table publicly in front of all the other customers out of the blue (we thought he was joking), wrongly accusing us for "being rude", tried to chase us out for ordering when they're closing in 12 mins when there were still many other customers after us and then threatened our husbands to "settle it in the back". Unreasonable and untrue. In fact, I called in our order to make sure we make the kitchen last call. Our group was large (6 of us) for their small space so we may have been a little rowdy amongst ourselves but never said anything rude towards any of the staffs. We tipped them very generously and had a friendly exchange with the cashier (over the phone and in person when we arrived). Shift lead came out to mediate the matter and apologized for the misunderstanding of his colleague after I spoke to him nicely and told him that was very unprofessional and uncalled for. However, Mr. Tough guy in the kitchen was still mad dogging us, signaling the men to go to the back. I did not appreciate that. We're never supporting a business like that. GARLIC NOODLES. Ok, so I have had plenty and made plenty and these are so delicious. Ok so I would add a little extra virgin to them but that's just me. The noodles though are what you would taste in a scampi, but not so buttery. I even dipped some noodles into some sriracha I had on the side and the vinegar in it added something nice there..If you love garlic get this, I mean my husband and kids won't even come near me after eating this. Has some curry/turmeric tones to it, different, but a good addition to the noodles. If you have a low sodium diet, or high blood pressure, please do not come here. The food is salty, but flavorful, and best of all, with purpose. I had a Coca Cola with my meal. Its not completely authentic as driving down to bolsa for Viet food, but it's modernized/Americanized Viet food and close by to my bf. It's also reasonably priced as well! I got bulgogi garlic noodles and bulgogi fries which were so savory, yummy, and addicting! My bf got a banh mi, and I tried it, my only complaint is the bread they used, I prefer a baguette style bread but the bread they used was more like a Philly cheese steak style bread in my opinion haha but definitely recommend their noodles and fries! I'm a regular at their Orange location but when I heard they opened in Costa Mesa, I had to check it out. As always, they do not disappoint! The inside is brand new so everything is super clean and the decor looks great. They have one large table for big groups and a bar table for smaller groups. I also loooove that they offer free wifi for customers so if you need to work or study, you can enjoy a delicious meal too.  My go-to order is the house marinated chicken sandwich. It's so much better than your typical Vietnamese sandwich. The bread is soft but crispy and the meat and vegetables taste fresh. I also really love their garlic noodles! You can add on top your choice of meat such as chicken, pork, bulgogi, or jumbo tiger shrimp. It has the perfect amount of garlic! Popcorn chicken is always my usual snack. There's not too much batter so you can really taste the chicken and seasoning. And you can't forget their green sauce! You can dip it in anything and it's so good! This is the owner's second location; their original location is in Orange with the same menu. The restaurant is quite small and fairly new. Be warned, there's limited seating (one large to fit 10 and a bar table to sit 5) and horrible parking. Best to call ahead and take out. Their menu is limited however to a few specialty dishes. I ordered the garlic noodles ($5.95) and added chicken for an additional $4. I thought the portions were small since the pricing wasn't too extreme but I was surprised - they gave a lot. The garlic was definitely there so bring some mint or gum if you're headed to a meeting after lunch or if you're on a date. The noodles came with a side of creamy jalapeno sauce to dip your chicken in or to douse your noodles with. It had a good kick to and I asked for an additional side of the sauce.
