I came for lunch with my parents & we ordered the combination meal for 2/3 people. The food came out quick & was really tasty. The soup with pineapple & tamarind which is called canh chua, is soooo good! The young gentleman took our order & was welcoming & conversing with my dad. The parking is a bit tight but the couples times I've been here there has always been spaces available. Good food & good price especially during lent when I can't eat meat Fridays.

3-4 Stars. Came here for dinner and the workers are really kind, but they messed up (the kitchen) on a few orders. I noticed we ordered the Crispy Noodle with Beef and they brought out Crispy Noodle Vegetarian Style. They went to fix it, but in the end brought out the same thing but with a FEW pieces of beef on top. This is supposed to be a beef forward noodle dish, but sadly it had more mushrooms and carrots. For three of our dishes, it had the same sauce on it. So basically we were eating the same thing but in different fonts. The Iced Vietnamese Coffee (Ca Phe Sua Da) tasted thin and too strong. I wouldn't get this again. Instead, I recommend the Sugar Cane Drink. The Fried Crispy Fish was good! The Tofu Soup wasn't bad when paired with rice. My table did enjoy the food, but I don't think it's anything to really rave about. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's an ok place to come to if you have a large group that wants to eat Vietnamese Family Style Dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Service is ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't offer tap water. They only sell water in a bottle at overcharge. I ordered Bun Cha. All the meat was overcooked dry. The noodle had some parts undercooked. The only parts I did like was the fresh vegetable plate of lettuce, cucumbers, been sprouts, and pickles. I've had Bun Cha in Vietnam. Wish I ate there.

One of my childhood restaurants growing up! My family dines here for the dishes we can't recreate at home, such as their BBQ rice dishes (Com Tam), vermicelli noodles (bun), and thick noodle soup (banh canh). They have a pretty good selection of shakes as well and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I go here to get their avocado shake and coconut shake. They used to have a wider selection of shakes but have cut down the menu by half. They have Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee that is decent from surrounding restaurants. Nhu Y is one of the oldest spots on El Cajon Blvd that serves truly authentic Vietnamese food. You know it's authentic when there's a crowd gathered outside the restaurant of Vietnamese people playing games on the table too (lol). They have great food and we have been ordering for a long time so this review was way overdue!

Had a chicken noodle soup and a chicken rice porridge. The porridge was very flavorful and tasty. The soup I had was good but the chicken in it was incredibly dry. But due to how yummy the rice porridge was - we'd come back to try other dishes. And probably something other than chicken.

I haven't been to Little Saigon in San Diego before, but Yelp says this is promising, let's go. 3.5 STARS SATURDAY PARKING (2 stars) Parking is definitely tough to find and in some cases way sketch. Some zombies cruising here, and taking sidewalk naps outside the nearby fish market. But the mini mall attached has parking in there too. SERVICE (5 stars) We were the only Caucasians in there. The place was 90% full = young families and middle aged friends grabbing lunch. But service was still fast and super nice. (Very good broken English - I wish I knew some Vietnamese phrases) FOOD (4.5 stars) Tofu Ban Mi I wasn't very hungry when I was ordering, so I got tofu bahn mi. Delicious. Simple. Fantastic roll. Crunchy large cut veg. Large slices of softer fried tofu. The rest of my party are carnivores, and their dishes looked amazing. Their reviews were all, "Fresh. Delicious. Salty goodness. Lots of food - can't finish." And, at the same time, they all wanted each others order. Pork buhn mi Bbq buhn Sugar cane shrimp buhn mi. They would all get again no doubt. MOST CUSTOMERS were having some kind of hot pot in the middle of the table with tons of veg and noodles. INTERIOR / LOCATION (2.5 stars) This is the kind of place that you have to make peace with as, here for the food. NOT first, second, or even 10th date location. You're comfortable with your friends to come here - and you all come to grub. Bathroom is eh... serviceable. Storage of some dry food items in the seating area isn't uncommon, but some people might find pallets of groceries odd. (This space has giant ceilings and huge murals on the walls) PRICE Worth it. $13 ~ for noodles $7 for bahn mi (All styles) OVERALL I would definitely come here again to pick up food to go. It's nothing special to be in the restaurant unless trying out hot pot. (Maybe with a regular customer or someone who speaks Vietnamese). Today's addict zombies cruising around the sidewalks generally avoid people.

Someone had recommended this place to me and I just had to try it out. It was funny being the only Caucasian in this place, they thought I was there to pick up some deliveries for DoorDash. LOL After being seated it felt like the whole restaurant customer base was staring at me. :-) Really enjoyed the food! And was pleasantly surprised how well the bun rieu and the bun bo hue were. Also ordered the Nem Nuong Cuon (grilled pork) that were packed with vibrant flavors, fresh herbs, and went well with the garlic fish sauce. Ended the meal with a freshly made sugarcane drink with kumquat. For sure will return when in this part of the valley!

My go to Viet restaurant for some authentic Vietnamese family meal. We ordered course meal for 3 people and also some fried frog legs tossed in butter sauce. They have variety of family meal from 2 to more than 10 people. The fried frog legs was delicious. The restaurant also has sugar canes and coconut water. Unfortunately, when we came, they were out. The server was nice and friendly. Food came out quick. Hard to find parking so be prepared to look around. There's street parking not a lot available. For 3 people meal: Caramelized and braised catfish Fried fish with some pickled carrots Sweet sour soup Stirred fry beef with mustard green

Once inside, we stood there for about 15 minutes, and not one employee acknowledged us or asked if we were waiting to be seated. There appeared to be no hostess managing the front or any clear process for letting someone know that your number had been called. Eventually, I told my husband to flag down a waiter just to find out what was going on and how we were supposed to alert someone that we were there. When he finally spoke with an employee, we were told that our number had been called and that after five minutes they considered us a "no-show." That explanation made absolutely no sense because we had been standing inside the restaurant for at least 15 minutes, and during that entire time, we never heard anyone call a number or a name for ANYONE. To claim we were a no-show when we were physically standing there waiting to be acknowledged was extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, things didn't improve much from there. I'm from Dallas, Texas, where we have plenty of great Vietnamese restaurants, so I know what good pho and Vietnamese food should taste like. Unfortunately, this experience fell short. I ordered the chicken pho, and my husband ordered the bbq pork vermicelli. For appetizers, we ordered the egg rolls and the pork paste spring rolls. I did enjoy the pork paste spring rolls, but the egg rolls were very greasy and tasted like they had been re-fried. My chicken pho was also disappointing. The noodles were cut in half and were so mushy that they practically disintegrated in the broth. The service was also lacking, and the staff did not come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. While the pork paste spring rolls was a bright spot, the overall quality of the food and service left a lot to be desired. Don't believe the hype.

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

Pour the fish sauce over the banh beo before eating! They have lots of options for bun bo hue (spicy Vietnamese noodle soup) depending on what toppings you want, and you can choose between the small and large size. If I had to describe it in one word I would say "aesthetic". Service: Great, the servers check in a decent amount of the time and you can usually flag them down if you need anything Food: This is where my review goes downhill. The only thing I would say is worth getting at this restaurant is the baguette with butter (no add-ons, caviar or whatever they have going on at the time -- its just not worth it -- when I got the black truffle on my butter the shavings were so thin they might as well have not been there since it made no difference in flavor) The tamarind wings are one dimensional -- the wings are fried well, but lack in flavor, its straight *overwhelming* tamarind with no other notes. House made egg noodles lack any sort of noticeable flavor, most of it stemming from the Lap Cheong but most definitely not worth the price tag that it holds ($36) The dry aged duck is where I feel the most "scammed out of". Ive gotten this both times i've been here. Both times its been overly salty. I understand its dry-aged, but the saltiness overtakes any other flavor of the duck. The sauces try to make up for the lack of flavor but they just cant carry the entire dish on their own -- especially not for a $100 price tag. The first time I ordered this dish (Jan 2026) the duck came out cold-warm, and the second time I came here (July 2026) it came out warmer.
