I ate at The Fitz, which is the restaurant inside the Fitzpatrick Manhattan Hotel, several times during my stay of Sep 29-Oct 2, 2023. I enjoyed a lovely breakfast on Friday, then a margherita flatbread for lunch on Saturday, followed by a herb-crusted salmon that evening. I cannot fault any of my meals except for the sausage at breakfast, the skin of which I found a smidge tough. I found some of the wait staff to be a bit inexperienced but that didn't impact my food. The flatbread was a far larger portion than I expected, and the salmon dinner would satisfy a large appetite. I thought the prices were quite reasonable, and was pleased that I had the option of such tasty meals so close at hand. I also went into the bar one night and gave some suggestions to the bartender on how to make a mocktail "old fashioned", which he got on the nose. Tasty! read more

The Fitz was recommended to us by the doorman at our hotel. You must enter the Fitzpatrick Hotel to get to the Fitz. There were two well dressed men sitting at two desks as we walked in. I got the impressed the men were formidable as much as they were distingished. To me, it's a reminder to act right, or you will be removed. With that said, the 4/5 was simply because we just had drinks and no food. We walked in an hour before closing last night. Yet, the bartender treated us like he had not worked all day, nor had some place else to be just 6 hours later. The cocktail selection was interesting and I had a "La Paloma" that reminded me a tart-y margarita. The selection of liquors were respectable and my honey was able to select from an MC 12, 18 year old and rare cask scotch, which made him very happy. I thought the cocktails were reasonably priced ($10+). Several had organic ingredients with mid to top shelf liquors. I don't know what the total bill was, but I will suggest you be prepared to savor the hell out of the rare cask scotch if you try it. Getting a double of just that will cost you a Ben. Now, if you're looking for a hip, crowded joint, you CAN find it at the Friz; you'll just have to come during happy hours. At the time that we went for a night cap, it was empty. For the two of us, this was perfect. I got a chance to really relax and appreciate the vintage decor. Honey got a chance to tell tall, but true tales to a nice stranger. Bryan gave us a nice set up and we closed the night out having a wonderfully fun, yet intimate time. This one's a keeper. read more

The service was just ok, the menu wasn't updated on the website and when arrived at restaurant it was just a page worth of appetizers, main courses and drinks...not really much to choose from. Nice spacious seating & quieter than most other restaurants around here - I guess advantage of being a "hotel restaurant", if you will. Stopped by with friend for quick lunch, and they had the lunch & dash menu that gives a sandwich + soup of the day. Unfortunately they had restriction on just what kind of soup you can order (cream of turkey in this case), so couldn't do french onion with was on regular menu. Had grilled chicken panini and the cream of turkey, with coffee. Chicken was not too dry and overall tasty, and the soup was pretty good as well. The seat was one of those hotel lobby bucket seat so it wasn't the best setup for eating (have to sit up & forward a bit to eat), but overall not too bad. Coffee was nice and fragrant, served in a kettle for extra hot helping. Nothing really wrong with the place but food wasn't a wow, so 3 stars. I would consider visiting again to try other items though. read more

This hidden gem is in the lobby of The Fitzpatrick Hotel. It is entirely unassuming from the outside, but you will be pleasantly surprised by the interior! I enjoyed the Irish Benedict, and by enjoyed I mean devoured! My mom had the full Irish breakfast and as a British ex-pat she was thoroughly satisfied! They brought fresh squeezed orange juice and an assortment of freshly toasted bread while we waited. Service was fast and accommodating for our schedule, but it was clear other tables were lingering and not at all rushed. At $45 for breakfast for two it was not the most affordable meal, but I sure did enjoy it, and the 10% off with your Yelp check in definitely sweetened the deal! :) read more

Stopped here for lunch with colleagues, not busy at all - should've been first sign. Overpriced, mediocre at best food. Ordered the Fitzpatrick Toast - basically a grilled cheese with your choice of meat, tomatoes and onions. Comes out - missing the cheese. They promptly took it back and brought out a new one 10 minutes later, not even melted up nicely, I guess because they rushed fixing it. And $15 for that measly sandwich and not gesture of discount for the mishap. Never refilled our water or ice tea. All around - avoid at all costs. read more

Hotel bars or pubs can easily mislead you. Often stuffy, sometimes uninviting and usually pretentious. Not this place. Staff is friendly, food is above average and ambience is exactly what you want in a dimly light, Irish pub like setting. Having been to Ireland and visited a few pubs, this is a close resemblance. I usually stay at a nearby hotel and go to the Fitz at least once or twice for cocktails (excellent cocktail menu) and/or a bite to eat (TRY the beef stew)! read more

I had brunch here with family last weekend for the sole reason that we didn't have much time and this place is near their apartment. The bar looks cool, but I think that the main draw of this place is its location. The food was adequate as was the service and the pricing seemed fair for a midtown hotel. While the service was good, the food was under seasoned. My friend ordered the fish and chips. The batter was not seasoned and fish did not appear to have been salted after being fried. I ordered the crusted salmon fillet which was served with asparagus and a potato pancake. The potato pancake was buried under the asparagus and which was a bed for the salmon. Well while the edges of the pancake remained crisp, the center was mush and the pancake was not seasoned so it was not edible. The asparagus and salmon were good once I added a healthy amount of salt (which I normally don't add because of my blood pressure). So while I would give the service 5 stars, the food was only 2-3 stars. read more

The Fitz is a spectacular place. We were scouring upper Manhattan for a breakfast spot, and stumbled into this place. Nicole and Luis were so accommodating and friendly and the food was excellent. The bar area wasn't extremely crowded (about 5 other patrons) but they had a delicious app menu (Fitz Hour 4-7pm) and drink specials. $9-15 for a glass of wine is not bad in NYC! Pleasant and friendly, started well, but went downhill fast. Ordered some appetizers including BBQ wings, they brought buffalo wings instead. We sent them back, and they brought us "BBQ" wings as ordered, but they were very obviously just the buffalo wings dipped in BBQ sauce. The heat and flavor was unmistakable. After a visit to the chef we were promised that was not the case, but the fact our mouths were on fire begged to differ (I've also had the BBQ wings at the Fitz on other occasions and they have never been spicy). We later ordered some nachos, which never came, yet we're added to our bill... And it took several requests to get some water. So all in all an unfortunate experience. This place showed promise in the setting and had entrees that we like. Order was taken by one person, food came out and one of the ultimate steak and cheeses was from ultimate and missing cheese? Didn't see a waiter for at least another minutes to send it back for some cheese, actually didn't see that waiter again. Grabbed another to send the plate back. The burger ordered was also burnt. Steak and cheeses were cut so thick that you needed wolf teeth to bite into. Finally flagged a waiter to take the check only to be dissappointed that the tip was included. After reading my earlier review, the manager contacted me and apologized for any inconvenience and offered complimentary beverages as well as asked for suggestions for improvement, as well as to meet with me to personally apologize. Judging by the hotel, you can tell that management takes customer satisfaction very seriously and I was happy that they chose to reach out to me regarding my bad experience. I hope I'll be back to New York soon, because the sliders at the Fitz were really delicious - hopefully my comments will help them to ensure all staff are friendly and prompt! read more

The restaurant itself was nice, and I imagine coming here for just drinks and an appetizer would be okay, but my husband and I came for dinner, and were quite disappointed. The bun on the steak sandwich was hard as rock, the steak looked and tasted like it had been microwaved with cheese melted on top, and the fries were completely soggy. The burger didn't fare any better. It looked like a frozen patty. We asked for medium, but it came out completely cooked, and lacking any juice. So if you want a nice drink, I'm sure this is great, but avoid for dinner. A slice of pizza would have been a better quality dinner. read more

I visited the fitz as a guest at the hotel. Immediately I was greeted by the very hospitable bartender who kept the conversation interesting and the wine glass full. Drinks were well made and the calamari was perfectly cooked. I miss it already. read more

We loved it. We made reservations for 12 people and they accommodated us with 2 tables of 6 next to each other. The room was cozy and tables were not tight at all (which allowed us to mingle between tables). The service was great and we were all happy with our meals (they also have a small plate menu which is very good). Thanks Fitz for making our cousins lunch a great time. read more
