I love that the appetizer has Michale's sampler appetizer has soo many different dips and variety! The dumplings were perfectly fried, the mozerella sticks had a great pull, the wings were perfection! I ordered the steak frites, the steak was perfectly medium rare. Stopped at McHales after visiting the tree! We made a reservation but didn't need it. We were welcomed and sat right away. Started with drinks (my husband's Smokey Palmona was excellent) and my daughter was demanding a hot dog- she ate the whole thing! The French onion soup was excellent and my husband's burger was cooked perfectly. My daughter devoured the cheesecake and the Bailey's coffee was the perfect ending! We came here after a show and just had drinks. The interior has that wood the is reminiscent of an Irish Pub. The lighting is a bit bright for my taste as I like it a bit darker. I did like that the tables are not tight together and there is plenty of room to stand and not feel tightly squeezed. We ordered all of our drinks at the bar and it was no problem on a weeknight. Finally got a chance to check out McHale's. First, great atmosphere and outdoor seating. Also excellent service. Staff was more than happy to accommodate my shih tzu Big Ern and even brought water for the little man. We ordered a few Guinesses which were perfectly poured and well temperatured. McHale's rocks. I love a classic Irish bar and grill. I stopped in on a beautiful Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. for a quick drink and breakfast. Sitting at the bar, I ordered an "Irish" Breakfast Sandwich (scrambled egg, ham, sausage grilled onion on a brioche bun, $15.99 only available in the mornings) that came with fries and the Wicked Appletini (Absolut vodka, sour apple Schnapps, sour mix, garnished with a maraschino cherry, $15.00). Oh God, talk about a good fucking sandwich. There was an abundance of meats and onions mixed in with the egg and the brioche bun was yummy. The fries were salty, crispy and delicious. McHale's is my go to place when I travel to NYC on business. I've always found the staff to be friendly and gracious and the food good, great beverages and a nice variety of options. I was in town with my wife on vacation and suggested McHale's for a date night as we wanted something informal and simple. We had a great time. Our waitress, Sadie, was amazing. She was friendly, attentive and helpful. Also a call out to Alberto for his great sense of humor and warmth. My wife had a quesadilla which was fine. I had the Shepherd's Pie which was really tasty and gave a taste of it to my wife and she loved it so much she nearly ordered another one for herself...but she was full so it will have to wait for our next visit. A fun, festive Irish bar was just what we needed. They have outdoor seating with heat lamps under a tent and a few uncovered tables on the sidewalk. They have hand sanitizer and a QR code menu at every table. We got a baileys coffee which was warm, sweet, and delicious. We also got a spicy crispy chicken sandwich. I highly recommend this dish. I got the mixed greens salad with shrimp. Paid an extra $7 for 4 shrimp. Kind of insane. Not saying much about the rest of the salad because it was really simple, which is what I wanted and I'm fine with that, but, if you're going to charge $7 for shrimp... at least more than 4 pieces? If you want extra sauces, that's also a charge of 50 cents per each. I don't recall that being disclosed on the menu but my friends who ordered honey mustard and ranch were surprised. But guess that's what you get out of a Times Square pub. Stopped in on a Sunday evening with a friend after a show! The bar is decorated very nicely for the holidays. They have two floors with a bar on each floor and lots of TVs with sports on. I opted to try the beef stew since it is an Irish pub. For $18 the dish was small and underwhelming. I was expecting there to be some vegetables in the stew however there was only potatoes and beef. I came here on St Patricks Day and it wasn't super crowded which was good but I liked that it was also festive. They even hired Irish dancers to do a performance which I thought was super cool and fun. I didn't like that the floor was sticky but that's to be expected at bars so can't complain too much about that. They had darts in the back though no one was playing. We stopped in for dinner a couple of nights ago, attracted by the outdoor appearance. We were shown to a table upstairs, and settled in. Someone soon appeared to take drink orders. It had been quite a while since I have had a Shepherd's Pie, a dish of mostly ground beef gravy with peas and carrots, topped with mashed potatoes. My server recommended I top it with cheese, a recommendation I pass on to you. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Nice presentation with the yellow cheese on top of my Shepherd's Pie. It was plenty of food. I don't think there was very much ground beef but lots of gravy, and I enjoyed it to the last bite. Service wasn't as sharp as it could have been, we were left alone well past when I emptied my soft drink. Getting our bill to pay dragged on as well. My food was fine, but if this review was written by my 7 yr old granddaughter, she would rate her food much lower. This is a place where the regular crowd meets the unexpected. Located north of HK you get a good mix of first timers vs regulars. I have never had a bad time here. With a consistent menu and impeccable service it's hard not to want to come back. I was there for dart night this time. My team and I all had an awesome time. It's a nice cozy area for our modest Gopher group. Drink specials and food specials with Gopher themed menu items are also a nice touch, newly offered this year. I'm on a sour kick so get whatever sour beer is available and to eat either a personal pizza or the buffalo chicken dip. I've been known to finish that dip on my own on several occasions.
