This was such a positive experience, I had to share this, especially because you know it's getting hot, and your AC is struggling! I woke up to a hot house, even though my AC was running all night. I contacted Westside HVAC Pros and was able to lock down an appointment for the following Monday (this is on Friday). Gerardo was close enough to my location and he asked if I wanted service sooner (Yes!) Hr did me a solid. Fixed an electrical issue, replaced some nasty air filters, and I had my unit recharged. Dishonest and huge disappointment - stay away, stay very far away. The A/C in our condo was no longer cooling, and we called Westside HVAC Pros. Gerardo came out, claimed there was a refrigerant leak, but couldn't find it. He first tried to sell us a $12,000 replacement for a unit which is less than 5 years old - that doesn't make any sense. He then offered a fix with liquid sealer and system recharge for $1,300. We knew that was a risk, but figured we'd try it out. That only held for a few days. Ideally we should have called Gerardo back out for a warranty service, but the first experience had us feeling so uneasy that we didn't want to do business with his company again. So we called a different company out - their technician found the hole very easily in under an hour of work. He was able to quickly and effectively solder the whole closed, which we trust will be a long-term fix. We called Gerardo afterwards to voice our concerns, he graciously offered to refund us 50% of the initial service ($650) which I presume covers his labor and markup on the refrigerant. Maybe this would have been a higher review if he lived up to his part of the bargain. Instead, he demonstrated a clear lack of integrity and sent only $600 refund. When we contacted him to ask about the remaining $50, he was extremely rude. If you like working with trustworthy folks that prioritize happy customers, this is the wrong company for you. read more

Gerardo is dishonest and unskilled. Find another HVAC company! I called Gerardo to service a condo unit. He charged me $1300 for freon and sealer, as he said there was a leak. He gave me a $150 discount. The unit worked for a few days and then stopped working. He came back and said I needed a new unit and new air handler for a total of TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Thankfully I got a second opinion. The qualified and honest OTHER company told me my unit is under warranty. They found and welded a visible hole that Gerardo clearly missed. They tested the unit and added freon for not much more than the original $1300 I paid Gerardo. Also, they charge $95 per pound of freon instead of Gerardo's $150 per pound. I should have asked for a full refund from Gerardo due to misdiagnosis of the problem, however, I asked for just 50% back. Gerardo felt this was a fair request and agreed to refund me $650. I got only $600 back, and when I asked for the other $50, he told me I should be happy he sent back $600. I will never work with him again and I suggest you look elsewhere for your needs unless you want dishonest, rude and unskilled. read more

Gerardo fixed my gas furnace. Came on a Sunday 30 mins after I called and the day before a holiday. Diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it within minutes. Also did a quick look around the unit to make sure that there wasn't anything else concerning. It's a small owner operated business so priced reasonably and personally I like dealing with someone local rather than a marketing outfit. I was super disappointed after spending $250 on a diagnostic appointment to learn that Gerardo wanted to move the in unit HVAC to fix a leak in the coper line on the roof... He made is sound so much more complicated and wanting to cut the roof to get a new line in and needing additional helper to get the job done! Also the quote we received from his was a stupid crazy number, and who quotes people almost $9000 and wants it in cash??? We were smart enough to know that this was not a company to hand off a job to. Luckily we found a much more honest company and there was NO NEED to touch the unit inside the house and our leakage in the line was fixed and the heater/AC is back on! Westside HVAC is a family-run, local business that provides professional HVAC service. I first called them in August 2015 when our AC unit broke in the midst of a heat wave. They came out promptly, assessed the situation, and replaced the unit with a brand new unit the same day. That unit has been working great! With the heavy rain storms in this year, we had issues with a leak in the ceiling which was due to a broken vent that connects the AC unit to the roof. Westside HVAC came to our rescue and replaced/repaired/reinforced the vent. Unfortunately, with the heavy rain storms (and a flat roof), we again had issues with a ceiling leak and Westside HVAC came out again and repaired and reinforced the area. They even crawled into the attic space to better inspect the issue. They spent 3 hours working on this to make sure it's fixed without being paid a dime because they said it was covered under warranty. They have been professional, courteous, and responsible. They are fair, honest, respectful, and attentive to detail. They take their time to make sure the work is done right. They have been a pleasure to work with as other contractors such as our roofer have gone MIA and/or refuse to stand by their work. Westside HVAC can be trusted! The Westside HVAC service tech is good but their office management and scheduling is poor.... Three appointments and two were missed entirely and the third was late. Once the Service Tech was engaged he new his stuff and got the job done so I appreciated his work.... but scheduling a service call is very frustrating - I had no idea that I had nothing better to do than await their arrival (if they do show up) and play phone-tag. Wow called to get basic info about kind of testing necessary for assessing soundness of AC ducting system and could not get pass the receptionist whose only duty was to schedule a technician appointment without being able to offer any info about type of testing to be performed ... what is the point to bring in a technician to do a visual inspection for $100 without outlining other components of what might be necessary to do in order to perform the appropriate evaluation of the ducting system? Staff should be trained accordingly or a technician should be on hand to answer questions at their earliest convenience.. what is the point really of the $100 fee???? We had a big problem with our AC/heat not working, and after a negative experience with a different company that recommended we replace the entire unit at huge expense, we decided to go with Westside HVAC. Now, to be fair, we live very close to their address, but still, I wasn't expecting for them to arrive less than an hour after my call! They recognized the fix that was needed, left to get the parts, and came back to perfectly repair the unit all within a span of about three hours. The whole experience could not have been better, from the speed to the professionalism to the fair price and the successful repair. I am reluctant to write this review because even though Westside A/C deserves a great review and to become the most successful A/C service in the area, I hope they never get so busy they can't respond as quickly as they did to my request. My A/C was found low on refrigerant 2nd summer in a row so I knew it had leak. I tried Elim AC. A competitor and they stood me up completely for appointment to troubleshoot and didn't even bother to call me and explain why they missed it Wish I called Westside A/C first. I described my problem and they had a tech at my house in 45 minutes. He found bad evaporator coil. They gave me quote $1500 to repair it. I double checked this price with another AC contractor and it was significantly lower. They came and replaced the part the next day and charged my system. Within 24 hours of my call. Amazing. And at that price. Amazing. I manage commercial real estate in LA and will keep their number to service my buildings AC as well. Would give 6 stars if it was possible. read more

I was having intermittent issues with my thermostat and even though the issue wasn't present during the first visit, John and Gerardo made some adjustments to try to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the issue remained and I opted to have a Nest installed that I had purchased on my own. John was able to come back out two days later to install my Nest. My system needed some additional re-wiring since there was an interface module between the unit and the old thermostat. John did an excellent job - he was professional and on-time. He re-wired the system and removed the old thermostat and the interface module, and installed and setup my new Nest thermostat. Everything is working perfectly. These guys were awesome and fixed things other hvac pros could not. They installed new filters, fixed a broken motor on a zone damper AND fixed a leaking split unit. The split unit not only leaked water but also this green substance that stained my wall. These guys figured out it was because the copper inside wasn't properly covered. They totally fixed the issue. Gerardo runs a family business and it shows. He systematically analyzed my AC, gave me the options for repair/replacement. Diagnosed a hard to access leak and was clearly fully enabled to repair most any problem. I elected due to the age of my system to replace it, Gerardo searched out the options for the difficult placement of my air handler, and only offered me brands which were recognized as very reliable. Basically Gerardo is honest and will diagnose the problem without delay. He also agreed to do my installation the day I arrived back in town (Saturday) and did this rather difficult install in a single day. The unit runs perfectly and we are now comfortable! We literally called yesterday- a Friday afternoon- telling them that the AC was out (and if you're local, you know it's a scorcher this weekend) and they came Saturday morning! Highly recommend. Came quickly to evaluate why my furnace wasn't turning on, made the correct diagnosis (a bad circuit board). He ordered the necessary replacement on Monday and returned on time for our appointment on Wednesday. Plenty of heat now.
