Not usually a bad choice but not only was the meat insanely dry and tough, they didn't include the bbq sauce we asked for which I could've tried to save it with. Two weeks in a row with different meals and may have been the absolute worst lunches. Last weeks Gyro plate was shoe leather with water downed cucumber sauce. This weeks order of 2 cheese dogs for $8 was disgusting. More cheese than dog. And when you tell the manager, very uninterested in your concern. A cup of cheese milk should not be on a cheese dog! After trying this place twice I have learned my lesson the hard way and will NEVER go back again. First experience I got the ribs and they were like bones with fat and little meat I am not kidding. I was surprised that the place I heard good things about was also very dirty the bathroom was gross!!! On my second visit I got a gyro sandwich and was not in the least impressed. The Ribs are good. The kabobs at least the chicken kabobs are tasteless. I have ordered pork kabobs first time and wasn't given my drink. The first time I didn't know how the served. This is during Covid-19 so it was to go. The second time I ordered 2 chicken kabobs and specifically ask for pita bread to be put in separate bag because putting lettuce and tomato on it it gets very sliming and gooey bread. Had the ribeye sandwich. Terrible! It was a thin piece of dried meat on a hamburger bun. No toppings at all, just dried meat and a bun. I tried to salvage the sandwich with mayo but that didn't work. I ended up throwing it out. It was a shame and a waste of my money. read more

The order was wrong in the sense that certain items were either missing off the burgers or were never taken off. Ordered a beef sandwhich lite juice sweet peppers and mozzerella cheese...... got a very dry sandwhich about 40 sport peppers dumped on it and no cheese! The hamburgers had no taste very bland , the fries were cold and old, ordered cheese fries never got cheese cups, the chicken sandwhich was nasty looking and tasting. I have been to all of their other locations. This is the worst. The place was a mess. We couldn't find a clean table anywhere. We waited about 20 minutes for our food to come. And when it got there it was cold. I ordered a gyros with no onion. The reciept said, no O in big letters. If I asked for this many onions, they wouldn't have given them to me. My friend had the italian beef. I asked for wet. Maybe because it was so cold it was dry as bone. The fries and mushrooms were very hot though. Nick's always has good food. I would have given it 4 stars. But the slow service, the dirty tables, the cold food and the onion loaf on my gyros knocked two off. WTF! read more

I never have had any issues with Nick's until I came here. Things were just a mess. It was crowded but you are a restaurant. After I cleaned the table we sat and waited. Finally our food arrives and it was not even warm. The beef was dry, the shrooms were good everything else was just ok. Good gyro, however, the gyro sauce was not yogurt sauce like other restaurants give you with gyros. I got a strange, yellowish sauce that did not taste right. some of the people here are nice but the owner is quite the passive aggressive person. i became a regular customer there and they eventually grew tired of me even tho i behaved myself and never even caused any sort of problem yet they still had the audacity to (six times within just 4 months) get my order wrong and i always get the same chicken burrito but i guess they are trained to mix up the words "chicken" and "beef" cuz those sound exactly the same right ‍. so the last time this happened i got home after work with nicks burritos and was starving and ready to feast but when i unwrapped it it was beef and my body just cannot digest beef properly it rejects it. so i called in and they said on the order it said i asked for beef when i clearly said chicken but they must have goo in their ears to confuse those 2 simple words. when the owner picked up the phone, he was busy stuffing his face and laughing about it, just showing how little he truly cared. so as if it wasnt insulting enough for them to give me food i cant even eat, this guy then called me a liar by claiming that they confirmed the order at the window before they gave me the food bag which they usually do but they didnt this time so when i said "you weren't even the one at the window how could you possibly know what happened, i am telling you they definitely did not confirm the order, he had nothing to say. thanks to that fat lazy sleaze ball of a person, how can you call yourself a proud business man when you treat a nice regular customer who never caused any trouble, like the garbage stench you give out. dont pickup the phone if you're eating and then act like you care but you clearly dont cuz you were laughing while i was verbally filing my complain. read more

The food was all tastey and I did like their sauce but the portion is small and the price is fairly high at $16.95. On the way home my wife agreed that portions could have been a little larger. Food is always excellent. I think the beef is one of the best around this area. Restaurant is always clean and they always have more than enough workers to handle the business. The only thing that made them loose a star is the drivethru menu. It is soooo long that you need to drive back and forth to read the entire menu. Went there because I saw they had beef brisket on their menu. What I got was not brisket at all, my dogs canned food looked better. Nick's Barbecue is the finest rib/beef/burger joint in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I have been a huge fan of the family-owned establishment for more than a decade, and its fifth--and newest--location has continued a fine tradition of excellence. While I often go to the restaurant's Palos location near my house, I was thrilled last year to learn that they were opening one near my work in Lemont. The staff is friendly, attentive and always accomodating. On any given afternoon or evening, the place is a revolving door of hungry-- and eventually--satisfied customers. Despite coming to the place often, I am never sure what to order because of the lengthy number of menu items. But this is by no means a negative. The place is known for its tender ribs and mouth-watering bbq sauce, but I encourage patrons to try whatever they are in the mood for. From flawless Chicago-style hot dogs, to juicy, fresh italian beefs; from tender chicken sandwiches to a plethora of delicious sides to choose from, Nick's in Homer has never let me down. Consistent service, food and cleanliness. Staff seems always in a good mood. Hard to do working a register all shift. I appreciate it. Service is polite and quick food is always hot when delivered to your table. I don't gamble but they do have the slot machines there. But quiet enough in the corner. Place is neatly decorated. But staff makes this place and they are why it is still here. Along with probably an owner and or manager that keeps his staff happy and cares. read more
