We ordered 6 jumbo crabs (JUMBO MEANS JUMBO) felt like I ate 2 whole crab cakes! We also ordered the Blackened Mahi Mahi and it was delicious with a side of spinach and fries. Lastly we couldn't resist ordering Crush drinks while everyone around were enjoying theirs! Our amazing Serving staff recommended two flavors Mermaid and Pineapple mix - Yum yum yum! It's an updated review. The last reviews were ok and very good, but now they're more than good; it's excellent! The first time I was here was years ago. We've been coming since then. I returned with Hubby to get our favorite crabs with hammer LOL this time. Josh, our waiter, served us lunch. It was busy at the time due to lunchtime. We had two types of soup, the mixed and the crab soup. I loved the crab soup better than the one Hubby had, which was creamy and mixed with crab soup. We ordered the crabs. I lost count! We also had some fish tacos and the shrimp. Everything we had was excellent. The service from Josh was also excellent. The crabs and food were yummy! I can't believe how much I missed coming here, but just coming here and eating crabs is not easy. We'll be back when we pass by Baltimore or if I follow Hubby again. The restaurant is by the water, so we simultaneously have the views and good food. It's such a prominent place, inside and outside. Even the bar section is very big. The crabs were delicious. I love that Nick's is on the water! The service was outstanding! Although we had a very attentive waitress, other members of the wait staff were checking on us during the entire visit. Our waitress gave great recommendations and was honest about dishes she liked and those she didn't like as much. I love a good casual restaurant that gives just as much flavor to the food than it does to the overall ambiance. It felt like a down home seafood restaurant. I ordered the Buffalo cauliflower tacos with fries and fried green tomatoes. For individuals with dietary restrictions you will find something on the menu to eat. This is a cute spot, and I loved having the outdoor bar, and although it's cold right now the outside is also beautiful. I mostly had starters, but the boom boom shrimp and crab dip were good! This spot in located on the water, I visited on a cold winter night so I didn't get the full view of the water but I can imagine on a nice summer day/night it being amazing. The parking wasn't too great due to some construction in the area but the food is what you are there for and it was great! We tried a few items on the menu and everything we tried was good! This is the place to go for seafood! While fresh caught crabs seem to be popular here, I came with a friend and we shred a few dishes. Have you ever had an oyster so big you had to cut it in half? Well that happened to us during our most recent visit! Their locally caught oysters were great. Quite a pleasant surprise to find a outdoor/indoor seafood restaurant with a nice waterfront view with such a presence, surrounded by a newly developed area called the Baltimore Peninsula. Driving to it reminds me of a metropolitan modern area, not so Baltimore old city-like that is refreshing. I noticed a lot of development and construction even right next door but this will change in time. The parking situation is great, you have a front door area, a valet parking option that is "free", and a connecting lot that even has shuttle service too. The food was typical of a waterfront seafood restaurant, I think the atmosphere and experience is what most people come for. We enjoyed the Large size fresh crabs, crab cakes, and even oysters (especially the northern species). This is definitely a place to bring family and friends for a more louder, live music type or bar-like vibe. So good we had to come back and have it one more time before we left Baltimore. Basically we had the same platter. Everything arrived medium to hot so very happy. We did try an appetizer of calamari which was lightly battered and very crisp and tender. What a great spot in Baltimore! Met up with friends for a birthday celebration and we got crabs and drinks on the marina! This place is huge with two separate buildings and 5 bars. We got a table for 6 and at Noon, there were only a dozen x-large crabs left so we did that and a dozen Large. Got a plate of steamed shrimp, fries and cocktails! Our server was fantastic and so efficient. There is a 2 hour limit for tables outside on the dock and we saw why. They had a DJ that started around 12:30pm and so many people came just to hang at the bars. The crabs were super meaty and delicious and the Pineapple Orange crush made me feel like summer is coming! Hubby and I went on a day trip to Maryland from the Midwest just to eat and explore. We ended our trip here before heading to the airport. It did not disappoint. The weather was perfect to be outside. The staff was friendly, great ambiance to gather with friend's, family, or even a date. The bar was busy, several TVs to watch the games and the views were just an added touch. We were pretty full from our food tour, but we couldn't leave without trying some Maryland Blue Crab, especially when they're in season. Even though it was just us two, the minimum requirement is 6. I had 1 and hubby had 2. Yes, we took the 3 to go to bring back on the plane to finish it at home! It was flavorful, though seasoning was a tad salty for me, I just ate and dipped it with butter. It was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside and was well seasoned overall. The sea food platter was fresh and the crab meat was fresh and sweet. The oysters were fresh. However, I wasn't a fan of the raw neck clams as it was rather fishy. The service was good with the waitress being attentive to our needs. One person in our party had food restrictions. The waitress helped us navigate the menu to order food well suited for the person. The ambiance was great. We sat indoors with a good view of the harbor. This Illy Philly was celebrating the bornday of an awesome sister friend and we all decided to go the Baltimore to experience some great seafood and the harbor. Nicks Fish house was on her list so away we went! When we arrived it was a beautiful sunny day and Nick's was crowded inside and out. We had reservations so there was no wait. The waitstaff was awesome- polite, friendly and absolutely ready to serve and we appreciated that. We put in our orders and they were so accommodating and really showed us what great service looks like. Drinks, salads and crabs were ordered and we dug in. The salads were delicious! Crisp, fresh and really good. I have to note that I had a virtual meeting to facilitate and had to leave the dinner for about 45 minutes at the beginning, and when I got back it was too late to order salads as they have a cut off time for salads, but the waitstaff were phenomonal and were able to get a salad made for me. Also note that my friends ordered a salad for me but it contained nuts which I can't eat, and when the waitstaff heard this they were so gracious in accommodating my needs. The drinks were great. We all ordered the rum punch which come in cute buckets and were so, so good! The food was also good, but some our orders came out less than warm which was a little disappointing and we understand it was crowded so we didn't say anything. Nevertheless we had an awesome time and we will definitely be back to sit outside on the deck and listen to some great live music on the water. Definitely a must do if you're in B-more! read more

Wow! Nick's was packed with seafood loving patrons in a lively atmosphere by the waters. The GPS took us down a creepy alley but keep going, you'll be glad you did! We ordered the half and half soup to see what it would taste like with the 2 crabs soups and although it was good, I wish we had just gotten the cream of crab soup instead. Lots of crab meat in the soup. The seafood platter was delicious and well seasoned. I was actually surprised how good the mac and cheese was! Oh and the potato casserole was mmmm so cheesy and yummy, I highly recommend it! The grilled cheese and crab was a fun spin to a grilled cheese and was ok. We loved the fish and chips, it was nice and crispy and one of the best we've had. The crabs OMG the crabs were big and meaty, juicy and sweet, some of the best crabs in town! Talk about disappointing. I called Nick's, days before Mother's Day, to ask if there was a special menu that day or any special seating arrangements, etc. I was told there wasn't and that no reservations were being accepted. Knowing that, I made plans to arrive with my wife and two kids no later than 30 minutes after they opened on Mother's Day, which we did. Made the 45 minute trip to Baltimore, found parking, got in a line of roughly 100 people that stretched around the block. No worries - Nick's is well-reviewed and the entire choice of restaurant centered around treating Mom to crabs with a waterfront view. While in line at 11:55AM, a staff member came out to inform the entire line that the restaurant was "out of crabs." How on Earth? Saturday business aside, this was Mother's Day and they had been open for only 55 minutes at that point. Who didn't properly prepare for what has to be one of their busiest weekends annually? So, we decided to cut our losses and stay in line for crab cakes or other seafood. After waiting in line for an hour, we finally reach the hostess "check-in" station, only to have them take our name and estimate the wait at an additional TWO hours. That was simply too much. A 45-minute early ride, arrival at opening time with a one hour wait to check in with the hostess, followed by an estimated two hour additional wait, all with NO CRABS available? We left reluctantly, headed south back towards home, got into Avery's after a short 30-40 minute wait and got all the crabs we wanted. I understood, and was prepared for, longer than usual wait times. But three hours to eat at a place that runs out of crabs a single hour after opening, on Mother's Day no less, points to mismanagement rather than holiday-related inconvenience. This is another one of my staple restaurants that I should have taken the time to write a review about. If seafood is your deal, then this place is the real deal. I had wanted to eat some "real" crabs all summer and had this itch (no comments from the peanut gallery) for some crabs. I had a friend turn me onto her favorite place in VA, and though they were okay, they didn't fulfill that itch. So, I decided to take myself to Baltimore, where I knew I could finally have what I wanted. I have a couple of places in my Baltimore seafood reservoir. But I decided today I wanted Nick's Seafood. I live over 40 minutes away and wanted to go someplace worth my time, gas, and energy driving. I started with an entry crabcake because I was trying to save all available space for the crabs. As you can see from the photo, I ate half of it before remembering I needed to take pictures; sorry. But it was so good; don't judge me. Just wait until you taste their crabcakes--no fillers. Then, please wait for it...the giant crabs. I was like a kid with a new toy. Every single one was heavy, meaty, juicy, and so damn good. Okay, can you tell I'm a crab lover? In my head, I was like Denzel Washington in the movie Training Day when he said, "King Kong, don't have nothing on me." I say, King Kong don't have nothing on these crabs; lol. I had a great waiter named Eric, who was professional, attentive and friendly. I had a window overlooking the water while I devoured my crabs. As you can see from the photo, "mission accomplished." What's so funny is that I concentrated on eating the body and left the legs to take home later as a treat. Other menu items I can attest that I've eaten through the years are as follows: Fried Oysters Crab Pretzel Fried Green Tomatoes Crispy Brussel Sprouts Okay, I'm going to stop here because I've had over half the lunch and dinner menu, and there is not one thing I didn't like. I rarely get to visit the East Coast, being from Hawai'i. First chance I had, I wanted to indulge in Atlantic seafood with my family. So, we headed to Nick's Fish House as soon as they opened on a balmy August morning. The restaurant has outdoor/indoor seating options and a second floor as well. We opted for outdoor on the ground level so we could see the harbor and gulls (don't feed them, they come in masses lol). It's seafood-kitschy, but not overdone. Our server was Tammilyn (I think), and she was on top of everything from making sure our drinks were topped off to getting our food out in order and on time, and ensuring we had the proper utensils. The food runners were excellent as well. We had the crab dip with bread, mac & cheese, and crab balls as appetizers. All excellently rich, fresh, and delightful. If Chesapeake seasoning is too spicy or salty for you, ask them to go light. For the main course, I had the lump crab imperial and split a half dozen large steamed crabs with family. The imperial came with a side of Chesapeake rice and spinach. Everything was seasoned just right, richly, and so good. Steamed crabs are blue crabs, so they break cleanly and easily with the provided mallets. The cold seafood platter (raw clams, crab legs, easy peel shrimp, raw oysters) is rather pricey ($85) but it's the freshest shellfish I've ever had. Bibs and roll paper ensure that your clothes and table won't get dirty. But I must say that several women in white dresses ate crabs at other tables and did not get dirty at all. I may need to come out east more often. read more

The food is hit or miss. I have had the seafood Cobb salad, Mahi Mahi, steamed crabs, fried green tomatoes, the cream of crab soup and half & half soup. The seafood Cobb was spectacular, the cream of crab was very watery and unacceptable, the other dishes were good but nothing mind blowing. Their drinks are good and most people come here to drink and eat crabs in the warmer months. Also, they have a ton of TV's to watch the local sports teams. The service is fantastic! The ambiance is nothing special very typical Baltimore seafood place with a water view. I will say they are building around this area a lot and I wonder how that will affect the view, etc. If you want a place to eat crabs and drink, you'll pay a high price but it's comparable to any other place. Maybe a little bit nicer inside than some places. read more

When I came here a couple years ago, I told everyone and they momma about those fried green tomatoes with all that buttery lump crab meat on it.... I thought about that dish so often... well... we went back and WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED they changed the recipe. It now just tastes like green onion and it's disgusting. Don't mess up a good thing by changing something.. and they did... the crab pretzel was delicious and they didn't have any type of kid paper or crayons but the waitress gave my baby a pen and a piece of receipt paper and that was VERY NICE! Nicks never disappoints! Food: besides their crabs, we've enjoyed dishes from their menu a lot of times. There's something for everyone- well seafood lovers. The portions are large and can be shared (but you shouldn't because it's so good!) Service: during the summer it does get very busy but service isn't affected. Our servers from all of our times there have been attentive and fast. I think there was just one instance where the service was a bit slow but it's totally fine as it was a weekend in June and they were almost at capacity. Ambiance: The restaurant is located by the Hanover street bridge so you get a nice view of the boats and water. Due to the bridge being there, there is a bit of privacy and so it's a great spot to take photos. Parking is large but I think there should be more. I have been to Nick's twice - once when I first moved to Baltimore and again when I had family visiting. Nick's is quintessential Maryland, on the water, great seafood. Both times we had great service and food was yummy. It's also on the water and just FEELS like a summer day in Maryland. If you forget you're in Baltimore, you might think you're at the beach! Highlights for food: ANYTHING in the Diablo sauce. It is so yummy and flavorful. Not that spicy but just enjoyable. Crabs were fresh, steamed well, and we only got one or two not-the-best meat crabs. Calamari are small, but cooked well and crispy. Fry shrimp entree is great for people not wanting to pick crabs. Overall, highly recommend. Visiting the Baltimore area and stopped in to Nick's for lunch during our stay. Super cool casual space with very warm staff and prompt service. We had to get crab items of course and Nick's did they so well. Highly recommend their crab pretzel appetizer, so good! We also tried their cream of crab soup, crab Cobb salad, and Crabcake lunch. All done wonderfully... Crabcake melt in your mouth goodness. Kids menu helped get our kids their usual favorites too- macaroni and cheese and cheeseburgers. I've been coming here a lot lately. The outdoor seating makes for a great environment, however they are slowly falling off as one of the better crab crakes in the city. I had the crab cake and it was not flavorful at all. It needed tartar sauce to taste like anything. In addition, old bay fries were soaked in old bay and barely edible in my opinion. Ive been told in the past that I cannot get the fries without old bay because they are pre-seasoned-- made no sense back then... but then they proceed to bring my friend out fries with no old bay after they just forgot to season them I guess. read more

We tried to sit in inside, but we had our dog with us, and it was too hot to leave them in the car . However, the waitress suggested you take out and that the receipts out by the dock. We so we sat by the pier with our dog because they wouldn't let us sit inside. It was pretty perfect and we took some beers to go from the bar. I would've given this place five stars however the price for six crabs was a bit too much. Additionally, I just really wanted to just buy one crab for my girlfriend to try a blue crab.
