When Nicks was Nicks it was allways great!! Since they sold out. They have gone down hill fast. I do not mind paying for good to awesome food. I recently have been very disgruntled with the service at Nick's Place. I am a local resident of Saugus and have been a fan of Nick's for 4 years. They have recently changed management and I feel as if the quality has dropped as a result. My recent experience I was waiting for a pizza and there was a lot of yelling going on from management at the staff. Although I do understand the need for this at times, it was very uncomfortable and rude. My pizza took a long time and was not handled with care/love. Overall I have recently felt uncomfortable inside the place and delivery there has never been reliable, drivers always lost. New management needs to step it up! read more

Delicious pizza, steak tips and wings ! Usually don't take to long to deliver and very friendly staff!

Not much is fresh. The chicken fingers were very dry and you could tell they had been in the microwave to long. Also ordered a pepperoni pizza (large) that came with 9 slices of pepperoni on it. We also got a over done calzone. Prices are a bit steep too especially for food that isn't fresh and lacking quality control. read more

This place has the best food. Their subs are always stuffed. I usually get a turkey club and some asian chicken fingers. They are amazing.my daughter loves the pizza here, she always gets 2 slices and the owner, (who is a great guy), always gives her a small pizza. She loves it there. So angry with Nicks Place. Called tonight to order the 2 pizzas for $15.99 as advertised in the menu that had been mailed to my house. Just happened the owner answered when I called. When I asked for the special he told me that was a misprint and a year old, and it never should have been on there. He told me he would be "giving the store away" to charge that. When I went to pick up my one pizza the same menu was taped to the counter, with the same special clearly marked on the menu. This will be the last time that we get dinner from Nicks. Normally I have a wonderful experience at Nick's Place, however I had to wait almost 2 hours for pizzas. From my understanding, there is an issue with the stove. I understand that. However, what I cannot comprehend is how the man answering the phone could be so rude to his customers. When I called the line would continuously ring and then hang up, however when a colleague of mine called, who calls at least once a week, they picked right up. I was told originally that it would be an hour, for 6 pizzas that were split into 2 orders of 3 as 2 parties were paying separately, okay that's fine. After an hour and a half I called back, from my colleagues phone, for an update and was told another 15 minutes because the oven was not working properly, okay, thanks for the honesty. Another hour passed and finally a driver showed up, however he only had half the pizzas. I called to find out where the other half of the pizzas were and the man answering the phone yelled "I JUST SENT THEM OUT! I JUST SENT THEM OUT WITH ANOTHER DRIVER THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY!" and he hung up on me. I am appalled at the service. I have never had bad service here, but I think its time to take a break from their service. I will note that when the pizza arrived it was of excellent quality as always, but the service left something to be desired. read more

This place does not even deserve the one star. The owner is very unprofessional and definitely does not appreciate his customers!!! Ordered food from this place at least twice if not three times a week. NEVER AGAIN!!! Ordered a CHICKEN PARM pasta for my son ....chicken PARM is supposed to come fried chicken cutlet, marinara sauce, melted Mozzarella Cheese over pasta. I asked specifically instead of the marinara sauce I wanted garlic butter. When the delivery came absolutely NO Cheese, chicken was over fried and dry, with garlic butter mixed in pasta. Called and explained to them that I ordered a chicken PARM pasta instead of marinara I ordered it with garlic butter but came with no cheese. (In a polite manner mind you!) I give them the benefit of the doubt, mistakes happen no big deal figuring they will deliver a new one and take the other one back! Well the kid that answered the phone was confused, so I asked to speak to a manager. Well after sitting on hold for 10 min, this guy picks up the phone and identifies himself as the owner in a very cocky, and aggressive manner. Instead of asking what the problem was he right off the bat started a conversation with telling me that I should of asked for cheese on it. I stated my argument that a PARM always comes with cheese... Wtf... Hello! If I said chicken cutlet then that would be different ... YES! Regardless is that the way you handle your customers? And your an Owner??? What a joke! Instead of fixing the problem he wanted to sit and argue with me over the phone for 15 min. So I told him I would be down to return ALL THE FOOD, want my $$ back and shove the food where the sun don't shine!!! This guy would rather loose a good customer then loose his cheese cost! DumbAss! I love this place! Great food and great portions, the staff is always friendly. When your a regular like my self they know your name, your usual and ask how the family is doing! Place has definitely gone downhill since new owners took over! Most recently, I ordered a buffalo chicken calzone with extra blue cheese on the side. My ordering experience was exactly that, an experience. When the young female answered the phone, I could tell she was preoccupied with a conversation, which my order was interrupting! I had to repeat my order several times because she couldn't bother to pay attention to the paying customer but rather listen to her co-workers story in the background. When the delivery driver arrived, she asked if I had blue cheese at the house because she forgot it. She quickly redeemed herself by saying she would go back to the restaurant and get it. When she returned with my blue cheese my order was complete until I opened the pizza box and found I had a buffalo chicken pizza instead of the calzone I ordered. I quickly called the restaurant and was transferred to the "manager" Alby. What I can tell you about this guy is he means well but doesn't follow through on his word! After learning his employee screwed up my order his solution was to be expected. He informed me he would refund my money and send out the correct order free of charge. I informed him it was now 9pm and I don't want the calzone, I would just eat the now cold pizza. Alby claimed "next time you call, I owe you a calzone and you will see the credit in you bank account in a few days!" Needless to say I never got the refund! What can I say, a once must try place has since plummeted in the past 2 years. My family and I used to get Nicks Place weekly..the pizza and pasta deals were unbeatable. However, new management took over I believe 1 or 2 years ago and the quality of service and food has since diminished. Every time I drive by the parking lot seems to be empty, whereas 3 years ago you couldn't find a parking spot. The new management has taken this establishment from first to worst. My final straw was 3 weeks ago when I ordered delivery. Order was simple 1 large cheese pizza, a steakbomb, a Cesar salad, and a chicken finger dinner. Kid on the phone stated it would be about a 30min wait which was no problem at all. After waiting 1 hour and not receiving the food I called and asked to speak to a manager. This is where the big problem began, a man named Alby who seemed very impatient and angry began the conversation by rudely asking "what's the problem". I told him I had been a customer for several years and have been waiting an hour for my delivery. I gave him my name and info so he could look up my order and he told me he would look into it and call me back. After another 15minutes of no food and no call back from Alby I decided to call back and cancel my order. The manager got on the phone and told me the food had already been cooked and was on its way out the door and could not be returned at that point. After a few minutes of back and forth arguing I agreed to take the food and pay because my family was starving. The food arrived shortly after and of course was cold. Long story short the new management has taken this place in the wrong direction and I simply can not advise anyone to eat here. Save yourself the headache. And Alby shame on you for the manner in which you speak to paying customers. read more

I gave Nicks one star because of the customer service I received on a recent order. The teenager taking my order was unable to understand my order and read it back to me which was simply my choices of meats for a cold cut platter. I asked to speak to someone else. I gave my order to the second person. I picked the order up, assuming it was done correctly. Opened it up to serve my company and it wasn't what I had asked for. I didn't call back then as I already had people eating so I figured I would call the next day. It was too late to call when I returned from work on Mon so I called Tues. the manager I spoke with never acknowledged a mistake was done by Nicks and kept blaming me because I called too late, and told me my choices of meats would have cost more than just the standard "cold cut platter". But they didn't charge more, I guess another mistake on their part. I asked if he could do anything about the mistake as I had meats in my refrigerated that my family doesn't eat because of the mistake made. He said what are you looking for and I said, maybe offer a pound of ham or roast beef or anything that might keep a good customer coming back. He refused to do anything and in my opinion that is very poor business practice. Since Costas sold the place a few months ago things just aren't the same. read more

well i have been going to nicks place for years in winthrop and revere and they run a tight ship. however in saugus you have alot of kids who work there who are messing around and not to mention i gave the girl $8 on a $8.73 bill and she siad $1 more dollar i gave 2 dollars more by accident. i did not say a word just to see what she did and made off like i didnt know and her and a young punk looked at each other and smirked. so if you go to nick's watch yourself the food is just ok at this location and the accuracy of this order was wrond and last but not least they are dishonest young high school kids that work here. read more

i enjoy their food i haven't tasted any bad food there. the only bad thing i have to say is that the people doing the registers and taking orders may need to step it up a bit. i called in a pickup order and they told me it would be an hour????? when i came in an hour later they informed me that that time was for delivery and the girl on the phone quoted me the wrong time. also sometimes when ordering i feel rushed on the phone. i know they are sometimes busy but some people there need t owork on their social skills after all they are there to cater to the public read more
