But the strung out kid running the cash register 1. rushed us into an order 2. forgot to let me order a bev and was taking the BFs cash before I could grab a Pepsi 3. delivered all of our stuff to the dine-in table separately, as in the BF got 4 slices of luke warm pizza (for his "I'll take a coupla slices") before I got any food and 4. the kid forgot a. my fries or even b. to ask which fries I wanted, since there are apparently multiple. Got all that? My head was spinning, too. The fish sandwich was hot, but overcooked, and if I'm going to be picky, had proportionately too much fish for the soggy little burger bun. Anyway, I wasn't impressed.. and it shows in my bitchiness. The best thing about this place beside's the food is the value. Nick's is one of the favorite places to eat when we all want to eat luch, most likely because the portions are huge, everthing on the menu is delicious and the people working here are fun, personable and tend to joke around often. The owner is a great guy and really love's what he does, you can tell how much passion he has about what he does just by talking with him, he will go over and beyond to make sure that you have everything you ordered and then some. Nick's has delicious food, but their delivery situation is absolutely abominable. We work at the middle school in town and have a very small window of time to each lunch. Literally every single time we've ordered from Nick's in the past year - they deliver AFTER our lunch break is over or completely mess up the order. We use their online ordering platform and pay upfront, so it's ridiculous that they can't get the order correct. Food was fine, but the customer service was frustrating enough that I won't be ordering from here again. I ordered food through the Slice app at 7:30 pm. At 9 pm the app's customer service says that the driver is on his way. ~9:30 pm, still no food. I call the restaurant directly and they INSIST that the food was delivered. It definitely wasn't, I've been sitting in my living room near my front door all evening and would have heard the delivery person. I check outside and even around my back door - nothing. The delivery person gets on the phone and goes on and on about how they gave it directly to a woman and I tell them they must have delivered to the wrong house because I am the only woman who lives here and I have absolutely not gotten the delivery yet. They just kept pushing and insisting that I was wrong - at that point just own the mistake and admit you guys screwed up! My house is clearly marked and you delivered to the wrong one. This place makes me realize how low quality a place can be! I have given this place many chances but they always seem to fail me. For instance I went today because on Mondays it is a quick stop for low price (wonder why) it took a solid 25 minutes for them to make the pizza. I have the box handed to me and I'm on my way. I take a bite and there is grease on my pants! In about 2 hours I have the most excruciating pain I have felt in a long time. I rush home and the rest is history. Mind you the bathroom at my house was a better experience then that pizza. Absolutely disgusting! If I could rate this place a ZERO, I would. Instead I write a review and blog about this place to be shutdown. We order a few things including a cheeseburger with bacon for takeout. While eating the burger I noticed something not right. I spit out this object the size of a nickel. Was not a bone, was not fat, was not a vegetable, was not food. Actually looks like a hairball or something you would find in a vacuum cleaner bag. So here is the magic question. How the heck was it in my burger? 10 dry-heaves later, still hungry and here I am. I love Nick's , they have great, consistent food. The only thing that's a thumbs down is the prices. Small calzone, small pizza (and I mean small) and small sub, $38.00. I used to be Nick's Place's biggest fan, but the quality has gone downhill as they have become more popular. My boyfriend and I have ordered a lot of pizza from there in the past few months and it has never been cooked properly. We figured out that we need to ask for it to be "well done" in order to get crust and not dough, but 90% of the time they don't cook it any longer. One time I called to tell them that they made our order COMPLETELY wrong and the guy brushed me off and then said we could have a two-liter of soda the next time we ordered. I am so disappointed because typically I love Nicks place, however the customer service tonight was so incredible bad and I mean bad....I called to place an order, the man on the other line barely acknowledged the call and put me on hold.....8 minutes later I hung up and called back.....hold again.....only to give him the address with "oh I can't go up there tonight bye" and hung up on me. I placed an order for steak tips and a small cheese pizza. In error I forgot to mention that I wanted teriyaki steak tips. I called back within 2 minutes and apologized to the girl who took my order. I said, " My mistake for not mentioning I wanted the teriyaki steak tips. If it's to late and they've already started cooking my tips, it's ok, I'll have them plain" The girl assured me that it wasn't to late. The tips arrived with a wet, uncooked sauce covering them. As if at the last minute they decided to drench the tips with the teriyaki sauce. The tips were disgusting. Not to mention they got the uncooked sauce all over the rice. I went to Nick's several more times after my previous review, each time enjoying their pizza more, until it surpassed one of their competitors as my favorite pizza in Saugus. This of course was the kiss of death, as soon after, they seemed to change the way they make their pizza-- and it's not an improvement. I think they changed their cheese blend. Either that or they're just cooking the pizzas longer than before, resulting in a darker color to the cheese when it's done (the taste is different too-- I wouldn't subtract a star just over the color of the cheese, that would be ridiculous). The end result is a pizza that's more like everyone else's. Well, I liked it before because it /wasn't/ like everyone else's. I notice cornmeal on the bottom of the pizzas now too, which I believe wasn't there before (at least I never noticed it). Not a huge deal, but when paired with the other issue, seems more annoying. To be fair I use Nicks quite a bit for catering, but recently I have become quite annoyed by the customer service that I have gotten. When you call the "kids" answering the phone are extremely RUDE. It is always very loud, other phone lines ringing, people shouting orders nearby and a complete lack of caring. And now there is a delivery charge???? Seems like a lot has changed since the new owners bought the place. They do make decent calzones. I am not a fan of Greek style pizza, but their buffalo pizza is great. Nick's took Saugus by storm and was delivering good food for a decent price. Now, I have had it with them. The counter help simply doesn't get it. They are rude, snappy and worst of all - they don't know their own menu and consistently gets the order wrong. The food - mezza mezza at best. Latest episode, order chicken kabob in a wrap.
