I'm writing this review from the perspective of having missed a flight out of Logan airport, who found herself having to spend a night in Revere and needing food, but without transportation, on a really cold night. I'm staying at the Fairfield Inn in Saugus, and I learned on the shuttle ride over that the hotel had a bunch of menus for delivery places in the area. When we arrived, I got the menus from the front desk. There were many pizza joints, one pan-Asian place, and Nick's Place. Nick's stood out because of its wide variety of offers. They have salads, soups, subs, sandwiches, dinner entrees, calzones, hot roast beef, pasta dishes, and more. Not only that, there was no minimum for a delivery. That's rare. Sold! My fiance ordered a club sandwich and I ordered a Western omelet sandwich, both on wheat toast. The total for both came out to $14, which felt a little steep, but perhaps there was a delivery charge factored in (or maybe my takeout menu had old prices). Within maybe 20 minutes, they delivered the food straight to the door of our hotel room! Overall, I think the club sandwich tasted better than my omelet sandwich, which was kind of soggy. Both sandwiches were still hot by the time they arrived to us. We were quite impressed with the speed and the selection. I'm hoping more folks in Revere, local or visiting, give this place a chance. Nick's is awesome... I think I have had everything on the menu and nothing sucks. As sad as it is, I probably eat here at least twice a week. I don't know if its a good thing if your on a first name basis with multiple delivery drivers but oh well, I have yet to be disappointed by anything they have. A few of my favorites are there chicken kabob calzone, the honey BBQ chicken sub, and they have great roast beef (hot roast beef, not the cold deli style roast beef.) Expect a little bit of a wait on a Saturday night, but generally speaking they'll deliver in 30 mins. If you haven't hit Nicks yet, I recommend you do, because I have yet to find anything there that sucks and I'm a fat kid who eats there twice a week. read more

Placed my order at 4:02 today...I called a hour after to make sure they didn't forget about me....they told me 30 mins longer....I call 45 mins later only to be told that they had a problem with their oven ...so 2hrs 30 mins after I placed the order (3 cheese pizzas and motzarella sticks) they call me to say they are out front ..no one there they had the wrong address the delivery guy shows up and says everything is free ..he got tipped because it's not his fault the staff can't operate in shop....we open the pizza...it's a ton of cheese, not cut, and dough is still raw. I walked in after placing my order 30 minutes prior. When I walked in nobody said a thing to me for several minutes until I PERSONALLY asked who I should speak to for online orders. They then asked for my name (fine) then what was in my order (fine I guess). Then another employee asked me the exact same questions and told me my order was not ready. I sat down for an additional 15 minutes and then was asked what I was waiting for???? He then gave me my order immediately? So was it already ready- no idea. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Five stars to Nicks place no questions asked. They do good food they deliver in great time, and they're super nice when I call (to the point that when the starbucks guy calls they already know the large xtra cheese and 2 litre of orange by the time I give the address). Now if that wasn't enough to persuade you about this place how's bout you try them on a Monday when after 4pm the time you call in for pickup is the amount you pay for you food? Yeah you add a buck for toppings but that's still a good deal. I love it and there are times the kids I'm working with we call it in and send someone to get it for us and we usually get 5 pizzas for a little over 20 dollars. I've read some of the reviews here that aren't good, and like any place you go, it's possible you were there when they were really busy, or just didn't have the "good people" working. I know that's not an excuse, just might explain some things. For me? I grew up 10 mi away from Nick's. Seems like every town/city around the Northeast US has a place like it. I think that's great and I really miss this kind of thing when I'm traveling or home in Texas. It's there in Texas, but you gotta search for it. Anyways, my first visit was for a steak, cheese and mushroom. Wow! They nailed it. This time, I went for a slice and a roast beef sub with provolone. They heated up the sub, which I don't recommend. The slice? Well, it was ok, but given the selection around here, I probably wouldn't come back here just for pizza. Overall they do a good job here. Reasonable prices and decent service. Parking can get really tight during lunch/dinner. read more

Small calzone with grilled chicken extra cheese onion spinach and ham, is what I ordered. I know it sounds complicated, but the boy who took the order did read it back to me and assured me that it came with two sides of house dressing. I called back because my order came to $27 for the calzone and one spinach roll, and the man who answered who seemed to own or manage the place explained why and read back to me my entire order, and I understood it was because I ordered a custom calzone with many toppings including two meats. WHERE IT WENT WRONG: The delivery boy comes, I open the bag and my two sides of dressing that were supposed to come with the calzone were missing. I calmly called back and let the same man know that the dressing was missing and he said that he would have the delivery boy come right back with the dressing. 20 minutes later the boy comes back and hands me two sides wrapped in tin foil, and when I opened it, they were both marinara sauce. WHERE IT WENT WORSE: I called back again because now I've waited an extra 20 minutes to eat for the dressing and the order still isn't right. I told the same man and he begins putting down the kid and then says, it should have been a marinara and a house dressing that I got (which isn't even what I wanted so even if he did get it right, it would still be wrong) and he says that he will send him back again. I told him I no longer want to wait for the dressing and asked if he could credit me for anything. He tells me that the dressing was already for free and that he was giving me that and when I persisted he said "maybe I can help you out next time ask for ****". THANKS FOR NOTHING, there will be no next time! TO TOP IT OFF: I paid for all of the toppings listed above and the ham was missing in addition to the dressing "he was GIVING me", didn't bother calling back to get sub-par customer service, I will just refrain from eating there in the future. The only thing I can say bad about this place, and that's why I'm giving it 3 stars, is the unprofessional staff. Great food, fairly cheap, good god let's eat. I was made unaware when ordering a Nicks Bowl that I had to "add on" vegetables to the order. So the bowl came unexpectedly with Rice only and Steak. Hardly a "bowl" to my standards but nevertheless the rice was cooked well and the steak seasoned up to par. They keep the onion rings not in the typical styrofoam crap that just drips all over your onion rings, they use the ones that they use to drain at the fryer. Everytime my family order from there it's always wrong. I ordered a chicken kabob sub with extra dressing and what I got plain chicken in a roll no dressing . Last I checked according to there menu it's suppose to come with lettuce tomato onion and Greek dressing. We had it delivered so then we have to call and wait again. Have ordered from Nicks many times. I would say the best items they have are the calzones. My favorite is the steak and cheese calzone. They come in a few different sizes and are loaded with steak. My wife loves the pepperoni calzone for the same reason, loaded with pepperoni. I'm not a big fan of the pizza, more often then not its too doughy and not cooked long enough. The pasta dishes and subs are very good, they are a good size and they are not skimpy with the amount of food you get. Overall, despite a few glitches, I would give nicks 4 stars. read more

Honestly this is by far my favorite sub shop... fantastic everything. My only complaint is sometimes the guys are a bit rude over the phone for orders and at the register once you're picking up. I think they should answer the phone a little nicer and be a little more friendly when picking up orders. Now onto the food: it's always FRESH and DELICIOUS. My family had also used Nick's for catering. In large quantities it still is every bit of fantastic, they are reliable to use for catering and I know others that have used them as well. The shop itself is actually pretty nice inside if you want to eat there, it's always clean, someone is always cleaning during a lull. Aside from Stella's this is the best sub shop in Saugus (which is the capital of sub shops lol) I've never had a bad thing from nicks. They are exactly what you want in a sub shop, local, great tasty food, fast and relatively cheap. The house dressing is to die for. I love dipping my fries in it, my wingdings, my pizza, my fingers...okay I might have gotten a little carried away but the dressing is very good! First off, I will concede that their pizza is really quite good. It does not, however, make up for the extremely rude way we've been treated in the several times we've tried it.
