So went here the other night looking for some good Thai food. So honestly we had a mixed bag some of the food was excellent other was passable and not remarkable. We started with crab rangoon excellent. We ordered the fresh and the fried spring rolls. The fresh were not all that inspiring, but the fried ones left us wanting more. For dinner we had yellow curry, cashew curry and pad thai. First all the both of the curries flavor was spot on we asked for 3 on a scale of 5 and the heat was there but not overwhelming. We had chx in each of the entrees and it was tender in every dish. While the yellow curry was of note and one we will order again the cashew was not, I would suggest to try another dish. The pad Thai was also good enough to order on our next trip. All in all this will be our go to Thai restaurant going forward. Years ago I ate at a different location of Nicky's Thai Kitchen, and recently a friend of mine recommended that I try this location in Mount Nebo. Their menu lists a range of Thai appetizers, soups, salads, curries, rices, noodles, chef's special entrees, sides, desserts, and beverages. Prices were reasonable. I spent a total of $57 plus a tip on a large lunch for two people, and we have leftovers for another meal later. The service was very good. The seating hostess kindly greeted my husband and me and immediately walked us to a clean table. Our waiter talked with us very nicely and promptly brought out our drinks, appetizers, and entrees. I did notice that one employee sometimes did not wear her face mask, but our waiter did. The interior design of the restaurant was lovely. Thai art was hanging on the walls. Beautiful chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Here are my reviews for my drinks and foods: Mango juice - 4 stars - This mango juice came in a tall glass, and its sweetness balanced out my spicy foods. Unsweetened tea - 4 stars - My husband drank this tea, and it was tea. Crispy egg rolls - 5 stars - These egg rolls were somewhat small, but we were given several of them. They had a crispy outer dough and a tasty filling of carrots, vermicelli, and cabbage. On the side was a pineapple sauce that had a wonderful combination of spiciness and sweetness, but we wished that this sauce were thicker so it would not drip. Crab rangoon - 4.5 stars - Several crispy wontons were filled with some crab meat, cream cheese, and onion. The pineapple sauce was served on the side. Green curry with chicken - 4 stars - I chose a protein of chicken, and it was served in a bowl of egg plant, basil leaves, broccoli, bell peppers, green peas, carrots, green beans, coconut milk, and green curry paste. On the side was a large house salad with carrots, peanuts, tomatoes, mangos, and a dressing. Had a drink and apps here yesterday with my sister. This was my second time at this location, and I have found here and downtown to be a lot better than the N Shore location. I absolutely love the curry here. It is the BEST out there. I had the yellow curry with tofu. They give you an abundance of sauce. My husband had the Mango Mahi and cashew that was on special. I also had the most delicious pineapple margarita. They took all the necessary precautions with Covid. We ate outside where the scenery made for very private dining. Service doesn't seem to matter when you're automatically charged 20% gratuity! We ate here on a weekend night, arriving at 8:40 pm. There were only guests at 4 other tables, and there seemed to be plenty of wait staff. My husband and I both ordered our dishes 4/5 spice level. My husband's noodle dish was so hot, he could barely eat it (and he has an incredibly high tolerance for heat and has ordered the same thing there before with no issue. My dish was spicy, but pleasantly so, just as I had hoped). The waitress never came back to check on our meals or refill drinks. At the end of our meal when she asked us how it was, my husband said his food was almost inedible. She offered no apology and said that the noodle dishes come pre-spiced, and then additional spice is then added. I asked why that disclaimer isn't on the menu? She had no answer. She then informed us 20% gratuity was already included. When I asked why (there were only 2 of us!), she stated, "Nicky's Thai Kitchen policy is to add 20% gratuity due to COVID". This was our first visit to Nicky's. We let my son pick dinner tonight. The menu was robust and looked good. The restaurant was kind of cool looking and we decided to eat at an outside table. We were greeted during dinner by a brave chipmunk that was in no way afraid of people. It darted all over picking up crumbs that may have been dropped. The servers were both very friendly, offered some great advice and were very attentive. We ordered an app sampler and two entrees to split. Portions were large. My son insisted that he order his spice level at the highest, 5 out of 5. So we didn't really share his entree. I sampled it and it was instant fire. My son said he liked it but was red faced and sweating profusely. The apps were good, the shrimp toast was very different and our least favorite. I ordered Phad See Eaw, a wide noodle dish. My dinner mate felt the same about her pork dish. The pork looked like it was from a frozen Hormel "pork loin". It was dry and tasteless. On the brightside the service was very friendly and efficient. But overall I think you can do better elsewhere. read more
