Not sure why a full service restaurant has people on a wait when only 4 tables are full... Yet let the customer beware because we continue to come here when we are in the Orange Beach area because it is one of the only Thai places in town...This is our 3rd time here and I don't recall anything in particular memorable about the previous 2 occasions... We came here at 6:15 on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not busy yet we were placed on a wait ( literally 4 tables in the whole place were seated). I am guessing that either kitchen staff or wait staff was short due to us having to wait for a table??? Once we were seated, a lovely human came in to order take out and was quoted a time of 40-50 minutes...at this point of our meal experience three tables were filled; there was one additional person waiting for take out, and then the person inquiring about an additional take out order . In my head I am thinking that the food must be fire for someone willing to complete a takeout order and wait that amount of time...Makes me hopeful that the wait for my own food might be worth it (but the cynic in me is doubtful). Beer selection leaves a lot to be desired especially on the Imported front. Appetizers (two orders of spring rolls) came out prior to the entrees which was a pleasant surprise. Spring rolls were served hot and were as to be expected. Portion sizes for entrees are small. We ordered Thai basil fried rice on a Thai hot level and beef drunken noodles with extra vegetables (not sure where the extra veggies were on this) Thai hot. Food great, spice level on point, service sub par, portion size a bit small for the price...more like lunch portions. If the service was better and portions larger, this place would be out of the out of this world, but because they are not l, it is mediocre at best. read more

Everything was great! Food and service! It wasn't super busy, only a few other tables. The space is welcoming and not too tight. Our appetizers were the crab rolls and my only dislike is wanting more. I ordered the pad Thai and fried rice, both with chicken. I ordered the pad Thai medium and the rice mild. Both had great flavor, but the medium is spicy so if you aren't looking for more realistically a hot maybe go mild. I enjoyed the medium but it is a nose runner! 1 Star - Completely Inedible and Shockingly Rude I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others. The food was so insanely hot/spicy that it was completely inedible. Not "a little extra heat," not "maybe you're sensitive" -- flat-out impossible to eat. We took one bite and couldn't continue. When we politely brought this up, the staff was extremely rude, dismissive, and unwilling to do anything at all. No remake. No adjustment. No refund. No apology. Just attitude. So we paid full price for food we literally could not eat and were treated like we were the problem. Mistakes happen -- how a business handles them is what matters. This place handled it terribly. This pains me to write because I've loved this restaurant for over 30 years but today's lunch was a miss. Honestly I feel single tables are sometimes viewed as less desirable tables and today felt like that. Their lunch menu offered fried shrimp with hushpuppies and fries OR coleslaw for 12.99. I asked specifically for both fries and coleslaw and said I would pay a coleslaw up charge. My app (cream cheese rolls with crab $6) was delivered super hot and mostly wrapper. It wasn't good. The entree came out with only coleslaw and shrimp -- no fries, no hushpuppies. When I asked for tartar sauce I was brought a second cocktail. When I asked again the waitress had to ask another what it was. When she brought it she said she had never heard of shrimp served with tartar sauce. The fries came out ten minutes after the entree. When I asked about hushpuppies the server shrugged. She said "I'm just the server, I don't prepare the food." Yes, but your job is to serve what the customer reasonably orders... without excuses. It made me sad that the meal was viewed as almost fast food. A $25 dollar lunch isn't fast food. The shrimp (7) were cooked perfectly and were fresh. This review seems whiney and I suppose one meal in 31 years should be overlooked. But today was review day. Funnily I was comparing today's lunch to Doc's claim of "Best Fried Shrimp in the Entire Civilized World!" Today Docs actually ran circles around my favorite locals restaurant-- so maybe they are, because my experience at Docs made me feel cared about. Nikki's not so much. Best place for Thai food in Orange Beach! We picked up take out and enjoyed all of the dishes we tried. All of the dishes were huge on portions and protein choices, they did not skimp on the shrimp, and super yummy. Pad Thai and glass noodle dishes were authentic and their fried rice dishes were very satisfying and filling. We were very happy with our order and will be back again! FYI - this place is popular with the locals and tourists alike so wait times might be more or less depending on when you go. From what I have seen in Orange Beach, that is pretty standard with almost any restaurant in the area. Expect to wait a bit, there is a lot of demand and not always enough help. Incredibly delicious food beautifully presented. Nicki's does seafood right. I urge a little caution if asking for more than mild spiciness. It can get pretty hot. The servings are generous so keep that in mind if you plan to enjoy a dessert. The service is excellent but be a little patient as the language barrier can take a little extra effort. Every dish is cooked to order so it takes a little longer to have your order on the table. OTOH, the food will be piping hot when it arrives. The building is old and basic but that adds a little flavor to the ambiance. The management does not over spend on decor or maintenance. Nicki's is on our go to list of island restaurants. read more

The ambiance is clean and bland. Not ostentatious. I like ostentatious so. So I wanted Thailand's famous fried chicken. They didn't have it. How about Koa Soi, nope! Boat noodle soup, nahhhh. Pad Kra Pow perhaps, huh no, I see. Now Thai food in America has been calmed down. Typically I can eat Thai hot levels, and I asked our wait staff for just below Thai hot. I ordered the mixed seafood and Basil. My friend ordered the chicken and green curry. And, his wife ordered the fried rice and pineapple. All were delicious, and my mixed seafood and basil was fresh. My friends enjoyed there foods too. However, for me it was American Thai, not Thai Thai. Love the atmosphere. The chicken satay is always delicious. Tried the crab rolls and was pleasantly surprised by the lightness of it. Pictured is their duck special which is always a delight. I typically get the pad Thai with tofu or shrimp. Service is always excellent and makes you feel like a old friend. Next time I plan on trying the lychee martini. I had Green Curry which was spicy and flavorful as well as fried Spring Rolls to start. The reason for 4 stars is the ambiance. The interior is very brightly lit and painted in pastels which doesn't really lend itself to a relaxing evening meal.... I was in town at Orange Beach and wanted some Thai and saw all the great reviews on this place! They are currently only doing Take Out now so somebody on Yelp needs to change the dine in option. I was a little bummed out because I really was looking to dine in. I guess I will be taking the foods back to the hotel to eat. I ordered the Nam Tok (Beef Salad), Shrimp Pad Thai, and Green Curry Beef. Since their internet was down, the employee wrote my credit card number, expiration date, and 3 digit security code down on a sheet of paper. I told the employee that I didn't really feel comfortable with that. He said he would throw it away after my card was ran. Regardless, horrible way of doing business and with secured information. I got back to the hotel and behold, my shrimp pad Thai became a chicken pad Thai. I was charged extra for the shrimp Thai. I called back and the female employee advised if I wanted her to make another one. My hotel is approximately 15 miles away and I was already inside my room starving. I told her no. And if she can take the price of the shrimp pad Thai off and just charge me for the chicken. We will see how my credit card is charged. The pad Thai was well very very Americanized. Green curry beef was okay. The best thing was the Thai Beef Salad. Super tasteful and had the right spices. It didn't come with any sticky rice or cabbage wraps which was very disappointing. I don't see how this place got a 4.5 star rating. I guess when there is no other Thai restaurant around Orange Beach, FL. This place has got the monopoly on everybody. read more

We have been coming to Niki's for years. I can't believe I haven't already reviewed this place as it is really the only great option for Thai food in the area. Niki's is awesome. All the Thai items have been excellent. The only seafood we have had there were the fried crab claws, which were also excellent. My wife loves the Thai fried rice and I love everything on the menu. Since the "pandemic", they have had a very hard time finding help. This has affected their hours and many times there are just two people staffed.
