I come here not that often but I came here today and I got fried rice and five dumplings for 11.45 which is a reasonable price for food especially for that price because usually it'll be more and anyways usually when I come in here I always get greeted by the cashier and they have a good selection of food. Very sad to report the extremely rude people who work here. I placed a door dash delivery here to send to a friend on her birthday for lunch. She is a regular customer. She is a teacher, and can not leave 6 year old children alone to pick up a delivery outside. So, this order had to be delivered at a specific time, which I coordinated with the door dash delivery person. She waited in her car outside the restaurant in order to time the delivery correctly. When she went in to pick up the order, they were extremely rude to her about waiting in her car when the order was ready. She tried to explain the reasoning for waiting, and I CALLED the restaurant to explain. They argued with me, saying she wasn't allowed to wait in her car when the food was ready to be picked up. For some reason the yakisoba is served with rice instead of just being a noodle dish, the portion of the yakisoba was pitiful, probably half the portion of the too wet and dense rice, it was over sauced and dripping in oil but the veg was a few tiny broccoli florets, a few shreds of cabbage and ~1/4th of a green bell pepper?? I've never in my life gotten an Asian veggie noodle dish teaming with barely cooked green bell peppers. We got the chicken teriyaki and katsu combo with a side of gyoza and a piece of tempura shrimp The combo came with the standard rice and salad: The entree overall was very dry. The meat was dry and the rice was dry. Definitely need the sauce. The salad was ok but the sauce for that wasn't the usual sweet light sauce, it was closer to ranch which I didn't like as much The gyoza was surprisingly good and a pretty good deal. 5 price for 2.99. it was crispy and fresh. Niko Teriyaki used to be one of my absolute favorite teriyaki joints, especially for my need for spicy. I tried ordering them for delivery awhile back through a courier service. When I received the order, this note was attached to my food: "Next time you need to put the spicy level on the menu--IS THERE. If not, we don't make it spicy. And we don't have kids chicken fried rice and gyoza, we have a full chicken fried rice and gyoza, and cost MORE. Next time you need to pay MORE." They passive-aggressively told me how I should have ordered from them despite Bitesquad not having a spicy level option and also showing they DID have a kid's size fried rice. I contacted Bitesquad about this so that they may fix the menu options on their end, but it was absolutely NOT okay for Niko to send me this note with their food. All of this was stuff outside of my control as a customer. Passive-aggressive note aside, the quality of their food has gone down over the past few years. I almost always order a 3-star spicy chicken and usually love it, but the past few times I've gotten this dish, I have been less than satisfied. They soak the chicken in their spicy mixture (more sauce than spice) and the cuts of chicken don't seem to be cleaned as well as they used to (lots of gristle and chewy bits). So I just told him that would be all, even though I hadn't looked at the entire menu. Another guy walked in the store behind me and told them they had got his order wrong. The same customer service rep told him, "why did you bring it back that way? See, some of the food has fallen out. We would have reused that, now we can't." The customer's eyes got as big as mine and he said "cancel the order." The customer service rep said, "Fine, you already paid for it." The guy left his drink sitting on the table and walked out. If my order wasn't already being made I would have done the same. To make things more uncomfortable the customer service rep walked up to me where I was seated, bent over to make to look at him, and said, he must have taken the wrong order, see? It's his fault." I got the beef teriyaki for takeout (due to COVID 19). Beef was kind of odd tasting but I didn't get sick or anything so I'm sure it was fine. Do not eat here. I feel sick after eating this food. 1. Shrimp yakisoba. Only included 5 shrimp and had more vegetables than noodles. I didn't order a salad. Sauce was way too sweet and tasted like it came out of a bottle. My plate was covered in grease and served with mushy rice. Why would I want rice when I don't even have enough noodles? 2. Chicken teriyaki and gyoza. Chicken was bad; why would I pay $12 for that? Same sauce and grease as the yakisoba. It was disappointing at best. Rice was mushy. 3. "Wonton" soup. The menu says wontons, but instead of wontons I received severely overcooked and mushy DUMPLINGS in bland soup. They were so overcooked that they feel apart when I picked it up. This place has been here for years, and they do it right. They even moved across the parking lot when Trader Joe's came in. I love it when a place holds onto its spot in a neighborhood like that. I hope the landlord hooked them up with a break whenever that happened. I used to work right down in this part of Redmond and ate at the old location a few times. What they have now is a tidily laid out yaki joint that covers all the basics with no wasted space. Tables and chairs that easily move around for larger parties, a flat screen, a cooler full of Sobe and whatnot, one bathroom tucked around a corner, and just enough counter space to sign your credit card receipt. It's easy to imagine that a yaki veteran mapped out the perfect minimum square footage to succeed and came up with this. The chicken breast is juicy and cooked, and chopped, to order. No dry nuggets sitting around in a warming drawer. There's brown rice, but the stock vegetable side is an iceberg mix with ranch. Boo. Gotta check and see if they will upgrade you to steamed veg. The extra spicy is truly extra spicy, gives you a good sweat. Prices are fair, and service is crisp and pleasant. Could have done without the corny dude at the next table on his cell phone going on and on and on about exactly what he wanted you to wear tomorrow for your date, but that's certainly not Niko's fault. read more
