Like any plumbing job it usually is more work than just doing the job! I called Niko and made an appointment to remove and replace an old toilet. He quoted a price for the job and scheduled it for Monday. I texted him on the Sunday before to let him know it was a two piece not a one piece toilet and asked if that would change the quote, he said the quote would not change. We noticed a leaky pipe on the outside of our house, and later that day, looked on Yelp, and decided to reach out to Niko's Plumbing. His correspondence was quick - I was able to provide him a video of the leak, and he was able to provide an estimate immediately. We scheduled a time when they can come over. They were much more readily available than I was - as I was commuting to work. So they accommodated my schedule. Anton showed up for the project and was able to address and fix in under a half hour. Even though this small business disappointed me in two ways, I would certainly give them another chance in the future. How did they come up short? 1) Purchased the Wrong Size Part Two days before my appointment, I texted the owner the dimensions of my cracked washing machine drain pan (30"x32"). However, when one of his plumbers showed up at my condo, their replacement pan was 29x33 inches, which was too big for my laundry closet! Why the heck did he bring a size bigger than what I stated? 2) Failed to Test the Seal between the bathroom faucet and bathroom counter After his plumber installed new bathroom faucets I supplied, we turned the water back on and he left; I tested the bottom faucet gaskets for leaks by pouring some water on the counters, simulating some splashing that might happen. Sure enough, the rubber gaskets between the bathroom faucets and counters allowed water to seep down into the cabinets below. As a result of these two mistakes, the same plumber needed to come back a few days later to caulk the faucets plus install a drain pan which I bought IN STOCK at a nearby Lowes. The day after their second appointment I confirmed the faucet to counter connection was watertight in the two bathrooms. The quality of the finished job was good; I just wish it would have been done in one visit. read more

That was before I encountered rusty pipes and and leaky valves. After several attempts (and days) on fixing a water shut-off valve, I threw in the towel and decided to seek a professional.
