First time to visit Niles Donuts. I purchased these: 2 glazed french cruellers 1 sprinkled donut 1 glaze donut with chocolate 1 glaze donut 1 dozen donut holes 1 bear claw (very last one) = score!! 1 Butterfly Raspberry = I discovered once I got home, this wasn't in my bag. :( I was passing through Fremont after my AM laboratory appt and every time I do commute over to Fremont on 84 I always drive passed Niles Donuts so this morning I wanted to make a pit stop considering all of the positive reviews left by other Yelpers and the lady behind the counter was nice, friendly, charismatic and I would definitely stop by in near future. read more

Staff are ALWAYS friendly!!! No matter what time it is, they are always jumping for joy in there I've never been to a workplace with such enthusiasm! Keep it up ladies ! This is hands down my favorite donut shop of all time. We visit Fremont every couple of years and make sure to pick up donuts from here at least twice a trip! The glazed donut is my favorite because it is very lightly glazed, fluffy, and light. They're so good I have to close my eyes whenever I eat one! The ladies that work here are from Cambodia and are very sweet and welcoming. I recommend this place to everyone I know in Fremont! read more

I just love this place. The customer service is always quick and friendly and I suppose I am a bit biased because I grew up eating here but definitely one of the better donut places I have been in any state. It's hard to classify what's a good donut to a not-so-good donut but this pace has great customer service. The lady working there is always friendly and nice and whenever I order a dozen donut holes she usually gives my 15. Can't complain about that! There's not much to say besides this place is amazing! They have fresh coffee and I don't get anything else besides that in the morning, but i have tried the donuts and they are amazing. Okay, so you don't want Krispy Kreme or Winchell's. You want a mom and pop shop that serves donuts and coffee. There are not too many shops like this in the Fremont area. I know of only 3. But this place is good and convenient. I can easily drive up, go in, and not wait in a line to get my morning caffeine and sugar fix. We've lived around the block from Niles Donuts for years but never got lured in by the daily temptation until this morning. My wife has a very critical palate when it comes to donuts and she's had her hopes dashed at other donut shops throughout the bay area. Well, I guess buying local is a lesson we learned this morning and we may be making a return visit before they close today to help it sink in! Try the chocolate glazed cinnamon roll, it is AMAZING! This place is a little bit difficult to locate as it's in a tiny plaza off the corner intersection of Mission Blvd. & Niles Canyon Rd. I nearly missed turning into it, but I'm so glad I made that turn after the light. The shop is hidden by a big tree in front of it and has ample parking in the front and side of it. The spartan inside is very unassuming. There are about 2-3 tables, the counter, the glass enclosed case holding the donuts, a board with the prices above, and a refrigerator where you can get some canned drinks and juices. The brewed coffee aromatically fills the air. The donuts are baked fresh daily. This is what is incredible about the place. I took a mere glance while entering and had written it off with a 'meh' as a typical donut shop before even trying anything. Was I wrong to do this? Absolutely. I ordered half a dozen donuts to go from the lady helping me. While doing this I was made aware of how beautiful simplicity is. They offer options. I asked her if there were any jelly filled donuts. She responded warmly that the donuts are filled on request when ordered, offering choices of raspberry jelly or custard. The glazed donuts glisten enticingly with shiny sugary coatings. The cinnamon rolls even had options...plain, white icing, clear glazed, and an elusive rarity I've only found at this place: chocolate glazed. Oh, heavenly. I looked further in the glass case and saw a croissant sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon, which I also ordered (& the lady promptly heated up for me). I paid and walked back to the car with the goodies, eager to sample what I bought. The first bite into a plain glazed donut sent me reeling back to childhood. (It reminds me analogically of the scene in Pixar's Ratatouille when the mouse discovers food as an experience rather than a way to a means.) You know - the kind of happy you feel when you try something for the first time & it's everything you anticipate it to be...& pleasantly much more. That's when I noticed the doughy soft texture, the sweet pillow and the incredible panoramic view of the hills in front of me. Several senses awakened and intertwined together at the same time - gorgeous backdrop visual combined with the taste of simple yet amazing donut. I gobbled it up ravenously. And like a glutton I couldn't get enough...I just had to try the warm croissant breakfast sandwich too. It was magic. The buttery flaky croissant expertly made by masters combined with the gooey cheese, egg and smoky bacon send me reeling from the various flavor explosions in my mouth. The sweet, buttery, salty, savory all at the same time on each bite were like little fireworks going off on my taste buds...all while looking at the sun scorched hills in front of me and listening to the leaves rustling on the tree to the side of my parked car. This is what stands out - a small locally owned family business dedicated to serving its customers with friendly smiles, service & delectable finished products. Why would anyone want run-of-the-mill doughnuts from big corporate franchises when this is an option? The product is as good as it gets. Enjoy it! read more

I will not be returning to this joke of a donut shop. The coffee is the same garbage that Andersen Bakery sells. Be careful when going for the cream and sugar as they are left open, on the counter, that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. I ordered a small assortment of donuts. This too was a nightmare. The older woman behind the counter does not understand english. I eventually had to point at each one, stare at the old woman to ensure she was paying attention, and say "THIS ONE". "OK, NOW, THAT ONE THERE". Oops, she grabbed the wrong donut. "NO, NOT THAT ONE, THAT ONE". She grabbed the wrong one again. Good grief. After a few minutes of playing this silly game I took what I could get and went to pay. Did I mention they are your typical asian joint which doesn't take debit or credit? Yes, I had to walk over to the 7/11 a few shops down and get ripped off at $2.50 to withdraw from the ATM. How did it taste? The chocolate was bland, the custard tasted like cardboard, the glazed, I don't know what that taste was, possibly melamine? Avoid this place. Next time I will endure the stares of that cranky older white woman behind the counter at Lloyds as well as the nosy customers who should be stuffing their face with their meal rather than wondering what I'm going to be buying. read more

With gourmet doughnuts, cruffins, and cronuts all the rage, it can be easy to overlook your ubiquitous, plain Jane mom and pop establishments. Niles Donuts certainly falls into the latter category, serving up no frills, no nonsense fried, sugary deliciousness. Selection is fairly limited but the doughnuts are tasty and the ladies behind the counter are very friendly. My ritual is to bring my daughter, who inevitably opts for the doughnut adorned with the prettiest color of sprinkles, then head over to Devout for a cappuccino. Cute little donut place with a decent variety. I was impressed by how fluffy their cake donuts were, and their apple fritters were also a bit lighter than other donut places'. My main criticism is that their old fashioned donuts were a little soft; not only were they not crunchy enough but they just didn't hold together very well. The donuts were smaller than other places in the area and about the same price, so slightly less value. No wait and they took credit cards, so points for convenience. I probably won't go out of my way to return, but if I'm in Niles and craving a donut, I now know where to go. read more

We haven't been to every donut place in Fremont yet, but this is definitely our favorite for glazed donuts. Their donut texture is pretty good, nice and chewy. My father likes to come here every time he is going to stay over. I have also brought them in to work and have had a lot comments on the glazed donuts.
