This 1 star review is based not on quality of work but solely on customer service. Background story: My 15 year old Niece went to this salon by referral from a long time customer of this salon. She asked for her hair colored in an ombre style (picture in hand). Unfortunately, although she loved it when she left, when the curls came out the next day she was unhappy with the result. I called in to ask for the color to be corrected since it clearly looked nothing like the picture presented by my Niece once the curls came out. I received a return call from Brent (the owner/ stylist that colored my Niece's hair). Let's just say he was BEYOND rude but agreed to correct the issue, keep in mind this is a 15 year old girl that is starting school on Monday. Other than him being rude, we are good to this point... Here's where the 1 star comes in: Once Brent set the appointment with me for the following day.. HE CALLED THE PERSON THAT REFEREED MY NIECE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MY CALL TO ASK FOR HIM TO CORRECT THE ISSUE!!! The referrer then called my Niece which resulted in drama filled mess. Now let's skip ahead to the day of the appointment.. When we walked in to the salon in true fashion Brent was RUDE, with a client in his chair he was carrying on about my Niece being unhappy and how he thinks it looks fine (not to us to his client and coworkers). We didn't receive a greeting only dirty looks.. How about a stinkin' apology for being completely UNPROFESSIONAL??? Nah.. Not going to get that from this guy. Brent's wife/assistant corrected my niece's hair but was nice an snobby with me not my niece.. thankfully! Final recommendation: People seem to be happy with the quality of work provided by this salon ( my niece was after Brent's wife fixed the issue) but who needs the awful service when you are paying for a service provided by so many other without an attitude? Susan Maier cut and highlighted my hair leading up to my wedding and then styled it the day of my wedding (along with my mom's hair and the hair of my three bridesmaids). For my wedding, she was prompt and efficient and worked with everyone so well -- both in terms of her personality and her skill. The five of us all have very different hair lengths and I wanted everyone to have their hair done the way they wanted. She was flexible and had great suggestions and made each of us look incredible. Susan is absolutely WONDERFUL! She is a talented, experienced hairdresser and she has the type of personality that makes you feel like you've known each other forever. I've been back since my wedding for cuts and styles and touchups to my highlights. Susan has a great eye and has helped me find cuts, colors and styles that I love, and given great advice for keeping my hair looking good between visits. Worst salon experience! Very poor quality work! These guys just want to take your money. I am right now working with my bank to get my money back. A lot of people don't know that if they feel duped by a service or product they can dispute the charges. Worst is when I texted Jennifer about my dissatisfaction, she got nasty over texts. When I tried calling her as it was too much texting back and forth, she refused to take my call and said there's no point in talking. She will not redo anything. This is the first salon ever that refused to correct their work...customer satisfaction means nothing to them. I went for balayage to Jennifer and she literally did some highlights with foils on me. She didn't bother to go bolder towards the end because according to her that's ombre. She clearly has no clue what balayage is. I asked her to color my hair leaving half inch from my scalp and I am still seeing my long gray hair all over. I asked her to do permanent color and she used toner which already came off in two days and now my hair look just bleached. She put the color on my hair in the sink and left it for 8-10 minutes and washed my hair. She said that's how she does permanent hair color on people. Are you kidding me? read more

In early August I took my twin 10-year old granddaughters to have streamers weaved into their hair. Their hair stylist, Roberta Nespole did a marvelous job working with the girls long hair, and she had so many colors of streamers to choose from. She allowed them to each pick two colors and she took roughly 30 minutes with each of them. Roberta took the time to talk with the girls all the way through the process and I even left at one point to do a little grocery shopping at Safeway right next door. The salon is easy to find and parking is very convenient. Almost a monthl later and the streamers are still in their hair. The twins get stopped all the time asking where they got these streamers and I absolutely will take them in so they can do this again. I highly recommend Roberta Nespole (I believe she's the only one in the salon who can do this), and I'm definitely going back! read more

I have gone in to get my hair done sometimes low in my mood, I always leave there laughing, and feel so good. This review is long overdue. I lived in the South Bay for almost 4 years before I found Brent. I had paid A LOT of money at various salons in LG and Saratoga and never got perfect highlights (I am VERY particular about my blonde). It takes real talent to do a baby-fine weave, and then nail the exact shade of natural, light blonde color. And BLEND it all together. Everyone says they can do it, and they can't. I finally found Brent and he has been AMAZING. Very patient, good listener, and can totally execute when given the right direction. I would literally tell him, in great detail, what I wanted, and he would do it. What a revelation!! So after perfecting my blonde, I threw him a curveball and decided to go brown. Poor guy! Anyway, he did a beautiful job and I'm loving my current shade. He really takes such great care of you and genuinely wants to make sure that he makes you happy. Susan knew exactly what I wanted- I couldn't believe it during my trial when she quickly made my dream hairstyle a reality. Hmmm, I read the latest review and I must say it sounds like a lot of drama (mostly by the aunt?), especially if the hair was fixed right away. My own personal experience was far different. I got an appointment right away with Brent and the experience I had was phenomenal! I just had a lady with 27 years experience give me the dullest, spottiest, horrible color and ruin my beautiful golden hair. I didn't even trust her enough to go back and fix it so I moved on to Brent. He expertly fixed the color and also styled it amazing well. I have very thick, wavy, uncontrollable hair and usually I am the only one who can manage, but Brent's styling technique was beautiful. I immediately left the salon to go to a party and received rave reviews about my hair. I had a wonderful experience with Brent and his staff. It's more than just knowing how to cut and color hair, it's knowing how to take care of each individual customer with their own unique hair type delivering results that deliver the best you can look. This is a salon that also sells high end quality hair products to help you improve and enhance your look. It was a no brainier to go to a barber around the corner when I kept my hair short. However, once I started letting my hair grow out the barber shop cut screwed it up, and couldn't cut it the way I wanted. Having fine hair, Sadie was able to fix my lousy barber shop cut, and I ended up with a look I have always wanted. The one and only reason to go to Nuvoux is to see Suna Johnson! I have followed Suna to whatever salon she has gone to as she is the "ultimate" hairstylist. If you are looking for Suna she has moved and can be contacted at 893-1429. Suna's hair color is bar none. I have had my hair colored by Suna for over 10 years now and I love her attention to detail and she always gets the color right. As for cutting hair, Suna always gives me a precision cut and makes sure that I understand which tools, products and blow drying methods to use to get my hair looking like I just stepped out of the salon. She is so great about educating and equipping her clients. I just love that about her! The best thing about this awesome hair stylist is that she is not stuck in a particular decade and is always increasing her knowledge of the current methods of cutting and coloring hair. She never stops learning and growing as a hair stylist which is what you want. Her cuts are fresh, updated and color trends are always spot on. Suna has always welcomed my feedback and there are some days where I say, "change it up and do what you want, I trust you" and there are other times when I have an idea/picture in mind and we will discuss it first to see if it will work with my hair type. She does a Keratin treatment(no formaldehyde) that is absolutely fabulous for straightening hair. I have a teenage daughter with very curly and thick hair, enough to make 3 full heads of hair. Suna did a Keratin treatment for her and for the first time ever my daughter has enjoyed her silky smooth beautiful hair. The best thing is that it has lasted for over 4 months. Suna has already proposed another newer method that she has learned about that is even more cost effective. This gave my daughter the freedom to put her hair in many new hairstyles that her curly hair did not allow. Throughout the many years I have known Suna, I noticed that she has an extended following. This salon has an amazing atmosphere, everyone is so easy going, and the results I have gotten with my hair are unbelievable. I have thick wavy hair and its not easy to contain. Jennifer Hatfield does my hair and never fails to give me exactly what I want. I have received a few keratin treatments, which have basically changed my life. I highly recommend them for those of you who have thick crazy hair. Jennifer has also given me a natural ombre that blends with my hair very well. I was referred to Brent when I first moved here almost 10 years ago, and I've never looked back. He does a great job with color, and he's the only sytlist I've ever invited to do whatever he wanted to with the cut. AND!! I've done it several times! I have zero imagination, but in this particular arena, I don't need it, because Brent has plenty. After 40 years of hair ranging from awful to forgettable, I'm now stopped on the street by women wanting the name of my stylist. I color my hair every three weeks, and I book three appointments out (I'm already booked into January, because his availability drops even more during the holidays). Even so, I run into a scheduling problem every once in a while, and Brent always manages to squeeze me in. At such times, I offer to leave with wet hair or to dry it myself, but he always manages the full treatment. As one reviewer said, the shopping center is a bit run down, and that's true, but the salon is always clean and bright, and the staff is wonderful. Parking is a bit of an issue now while the Safeway renovation is underway, but they do have a private lot that they can direct you to. If you're looking for a new stylist/colorist, try Brent out. But do it soon, because once Safeway reopens and there's increased visibility into the salon, their business will just take off. You'll want to have "regular" status before then! read more
