Nina's Cafe Bar is a prime example of why I love living in Greater Los Angeles. Bell, CA, isn't exactly known for its beauty within the actual landscape, but when you happen upon Nina's you soon forget all that. There is limited street parking in the area and a lot around the back. During COVID-19, social distancing and masks are enforced. Also, there is limited dining indoors and some outdoor tables. This review would be remiss without mentioning the absolutely incredible staff. While I was waiting for my carryout order, I was greeted by a few of the employees. What a breath of fresh (masked-covered) air they were. The food, the food, the food... Via the trusty GrubHub app (10/24/20), I ordered the following: - cappuccino ($4) - "Bright" crepe ($11) - French toast ($10) For my cappuccino, I wasn't able to add "vanilla" flavoring to my order through the app for some reason. Good thing a staff member asked me because I forgot about it. Good choice. The Bright crepe consists of ham, brie cheese, tomatoes, and pesto sauce. The crepe itself is so light and airy... it's amazing that it all held together on my drive back home and was still nice and warm while slicing into it. I'm a huge fan of their crepes! The French toast was a hit with my young ones. After ones bite, I wanted it to myself. It is made with Nutella and comes with a hefty portion of sliced bananas, strawberries and mangoes. It did not disappoint. I didn't want to stop eating, so guess what? I ate until I was as full as a tick on a bloodhound's back in the dead heat of summer in South Texas... They have a delicious looking bar for all the adult beverage drinkers - beer, wine, and cocktails. I wanted to take my wife to a restaurant with a nice ambience and also good food. While browsing through options, I found Nina's Cafe Bar in Bell, which has a pretty outdoor patio suitable for outdoor dining, and also a good place for a date. My wife was craving Italian food so this was a good option. My wife ordered the De la Mer risotto which is a seafood style risotto with salmon, shrimp, and scallops. I got the pasta la diabla at the owner's recommendation, which was a fusion Mexican/Italian style pasta which chorizo that had some spiciness to it. I really loved the risotto. The seafood were super fresh, and the shrimp were jumbo, fresh pieces of shrimp. The scallops were buttery soft. The risotto itself was creamy without being too greasy. I also loved the pasta la diabla, though I liked the risotto more. The pasta definitely had that Mexican vibe to it with the chorizo and hint of spiciness, not normally found in most Italian restaurants. Excellent service, amazing food. A true hidden Gem in the city of Bell. While looking for new places to have diner this came u. Aesthetics -while it might nott seem like much from the outside that changes as soon as we walk in . The restaurantt is dimly lit that sets tthe mood for a nice romantic dinner or a quiet conversation with friends . The outside has a unique whole in the wall type of feel with plenty of parking in the back. The inside is nice decorate with a great bar as a focal point . Service - As soon as we walked in we were promptly greeted and escorted to our table. The server was extremely nIce and suggested key dishes as well as drinks . My wife asked for wine and they brought her an assorment of wines to the tablE so she could try them out. She got to taste several wines and picked a great French wine to accompany wher meal. Service is top notch . Everything was great from start to finish Food- To start we had calamari that was accompanied with a fresh seasonal salad and great sauce . We picked the Mar Pasta and the Steak with a mushroom sauce . The steak was perfect as and the sauce wow a foodgasm on the pallet . The pasta was perfect and the scallops a shrimp and salmon were all delicious . I strongly suggest you try both dishes. This will probably become one of our favorite new spots to come too. We were looking something nice nearby serving good quality good service in one restaurant. Then I check my Yelp app then this restaurant pops up it's called Nina's cafe bar,I was telling myself that name ring in my memory. Then I read the reviews the same owners who owns Nina's cafe bar they own Nina's cafe in Huntington Park I tell my wife OMG they the best brunch including their crepes especially the Nina's crepe the house special we felt in love with those crepe. The restaurant wasn't that far from our house we drove to the city of Bell. Park was the first thing but Nina's have parking in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant location in a nice location but there's a restaurant next to it that's is very popular Culichi Town that restaurant is very popular but there's times no parking. After we found parking my wife and I walk to the restaurant just couple feet away. When we walk in the restaurant it was dark inside but it give you romantic peaceful atmosphere. Each table have a small candle that give romantic feeling. We notice right away there's a full bar with high quality liquor on display. The waiter came and hand us the menu and looking at the menu and wondering what to order. My wife decided to get the steak sandwich and a glass of wine to go wirh the meal. I decided to order the 12 oz rib eye steak and Jack & Coke one of my favorite drink pairing with my ribeye steak with garlic butter on top. After my wife and I talk the waiter brought us our food my wife told me the food looks so good. I took a bite of my 12oz rib eye steak wow amazing they cook the steak what I ask medium rare the flavors were very good including the garlic butter. My meal comes a salad and dices potato they also good and the salad I really enjoy it fresh come with tomato mango,and another fruit mix in. My wife enjoy her steak sandwich it just remember the steak sandwich she had at Nina's Cafe, she really like it and her wine paring with steak sandwich. We enjoy our dinner next was dessert we know what crepe we like we decided get the Nina's crepe one our favorite that we enjoy for the first time at Nina's cafe. The Nina's crepe have banana,strawberry,mango, nutella,whip cream and a small scoop ice cream that make this crepe so devilish so good. I came here for brunch with colleagues on a weekday. I'm giving this spot a generous 4 stars. Food & Drinks: 4 out of 5 I got the Regular Benedict (Canadian bacon) with a hot chai with almond milk. + Chai - I typically order my chais with oat milk, but they don't carry that here. Surprisingly, the chai was creamy and flavorful. It was cold and rainy, so this chai was definitely something I appreciated. Rain or shine, yummy chai is the the right move. + Regular Eggs Benedict - The bread on the side and the one in the Benedict was so tough and stale. The eggs were cold when they were served. The eggs were also a bit overdone; not the usual runny poached eggs like you'd expect in Benedicts. The fries were also a bit chewy; not fresh, perhaps? I can only speculate. Overall, the dish was OK. Service: 3 out of 5 The servers only spoke Spanish, so I'm grateful we had fluent Spanish speakers with us. One of the servers asked us to wait outside in the rain (not sure why, it was in Spanish). Then, we asked again, and they let us in. I was confused, because it's not like they were busy. Throughout our time here, the service was mediocre. This is not because of the communication barrier for me. This is because of their overall attentiveness. Inside/Outside: 3 out of 5 Outiside, there is a little parking lot, where they carved out a little outdoor dining with shade. There are both indoor and outdoor dining options available. Inside, there is a little stage by the main entrance, with booths and tables placed on either walls of the restaurant. There is a bar area, as well, which is pretty cute and cozy. Where I was seated, the table/booth next to the main entrance, it smelled like mold and mildew, so it hindered my experience here. One of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious. Especially the crepes. The service is great and very attentive, no matter how busy it may be. They have music and a bar inside for those that like a darker louder setting or outside seating for a quieter space. Very tiny place not so clean, better don't trust restaurants with poor illumination somebody spilled the syrup on the chair and it was so dark that I couldn't see it . We went for Mother's Day I was wearing a pretty expensive slack brand new and they didn't give a squat when I told them I got my pants covered by the sticky syrup . My daughter said at least they should offer to pay for the cleaner as a courtesy . We the family will never go back and we don't recommend this place . BTW the lady hostess was so rude only the waitress guys tried at least to be nice . I hope the owner(s) is making enough money to hire a hand to do the cleaning . No STARS AT ALL read more
