Wow! I'm very impressed by the quality of work at Nina's Cleaners. Last week I took in a white duvet that had a VERY large bloodstain on it; a visitor had had a nose bleed. Making things worse, I didn't see the bloodstain until 5 days after it happened. I picked it up this morning, happy that Nina's Cleaners got the entire stain out! The duvet looks perfect. He dry cleaned the item twice and didn't charge extra. Excellent service at a reasonable price. read more

I decided to have some dress shirts cleaned and pressed here because a co-worker of mine recommended them to me and also they are right across the street from my work place. I dropped off my shirts after work on a Tuesday afternoon and picked them up the following Thursday afternoon. I was very pleased with the results; my shirts looked so clean and looked almost brand new. I may start coming here on a regular basis to have more of my shirts cleaned. I've come here a few times now having moved to Bernal. The gentleman I've interacted with has always been kind and organized. They have a computerized system for tracking accounts which is nice and minor alterations and repairs I've asked for have been done well. The garments have come back clean and pressed and in one instance, where it was not possible to get out a stain, they let me know immediately and were attentive to the issue. read more

I don't dry clean. But as a shorty I get my pants hemmed. All the nice jeans seem to come at 36", which will never work for me. I mean how many people can really fit into 36" leg? You would have to be like 7' tall. I had to come back three DAMN times because of the quality job they did hemming. I said I needed a 30" hem and my pants came back days late at 34". Then I took them back and they were then hemmed at 32". On my 3rd trip the owner made it seem like she did me a favor by not charging me again?! Anyways three visits and 2 weeks extra time and my pants were finally hemmed and it only cost me $12. What a joke. After reading all the other Yelp complaints it makes me wonder how they stay opened. read more

Strangely expensive for the nondescript unremarkableness of the place and service. They'll get the job done, and on time, but you might leave scratching your head at how three shirts came to $25. I also had some alterations done here. Same story; job done, no complaints, but $20 seems like a bit much to rehem some slacks. 3.5 stars. The owner is a total sweetheart and named the place after her daughter. She's been in business for a very long time, which makes me very happy for her. I, however, don't feel very happy after paying through the nose (what does that mean, anyway?) for alterations. Here's the thing, though....it's 1.5 blocks away and I am too lazy to drive to a cheaper place (and too lazy to learn how to sew). I feel like jeans/pants designers have some sort of contract with places like Nina's. I mean, I am 5'6" and I cannot find a freakin' pair of jeans that are not too long for me. This makes me crazy. What percentage of the population is 5'8" or taller? And forget petite sizes. The waistline usually falls just below my boobs. What's up with that? read more

I was surprised to see the overall poor ratings for this cleaner. I've lived Bernal for eight years now and think I've tried them all. And to a certain degree -- they're all the same. They press my shirts, clean my suits and sweaters and... what else am I looking for? An espresso? A spritz for my face? She does play classical music. The prices are about the same as everywhere else in Bernal/Mission/Upper Noe. Anyway, the owner -- who's name I presume is Nina -- is very kind and welcoming and actually wants your businesses. Her employees seem to be there M-F in the mornings and well... they're employees. She lost her parking lot when a new owner bought the building a few years ago but parking has been surpsingly easy to find... and I've been going every week for the last couple of years. read more

Barely passable dry cleaners. Brought in 2 shirts to be laundered and 2 sweaters, 1 blouse, 2 pants for dry cleaning on a Tuesday afternoon, was told they'd be ready on Friday. I went to pick up the clothes this afternoon and boy, did I experience sticker shock. The total came to $40! Also, my blouse wasn't ready and the woman asked me to wait (maybe 5-7 minutes). (As a comparison, I went to Flamingo on Mission in Bernal Heights not that long ago with a comparable stack of clothing and was charged about $25 and my clothes were ready the next day.) The only upsides to this dry cleaning place is that the woman who runs it is reasonably nice, the store is close to my house, and there's a parking lot adjacent (and the metered parking on Precita is usually empty). That said, my clothes have that stale smell of overuse of chemicals and the prices were incredibly high for unremarkable service. I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to my house, but I can't rationalize spending this much money for the convenience of poor dry cleaning services. If you're looking for a dry cleaning place, I recommend Flamingo or Guerrero Laundry instead. read more

I have visited Nina's a few times per month since I moved to the neighborhood and have never had a problem with service. She doesn't even mind when I lose my receipt, which is great because I usually do. Once I took in my favorite Anthropologie trench coat COVERED in mud (accidentally trampled on a damp evening at Zeitgeist) and it looked brand new when I picked it up a few days later. Hooray! There is a minimum charge for credit cards (I think it's $10), but that seems to be the only way a small business can stay afloat. read more

The man and woman who own this shop are so, so nice. They definitely remember their customers' faces and greet everyone warmly. What's more, they do a great job actually cleaning my clothes. And once, when I had a zippered coat that had been irking me for a year, I finally took it to Nina's to have them replace the zipper. The man who owns it looked at the coat, determined it was the zipper itself and not the zipper's teeth that needed tightening, and he did it on the spot for free, "to save me the money" it would've cost me to replace the entire zipper. Nina's is a great little dry cleaning and alterations spot I highly recommend everyone in the neighborhood support. read more

Tried this dry cleaner for the first time and never again!! They stuck a safety pin through the front my brand new blazer, perhaps to keep it closed for cleaning because it doesn't have buttons, but, regardless, now I have a blazer with two holes and I am really not happy about it. It was a $200 blazer - the most expensive piece of clothing that I own - and I only wore it once. A dry cleaner should be able to clean clothes without ruining them in the process. Do not trust this vendor to treat your clothes well. read more

I never like to post a negative review. I've come here off and on for the last four years for single items like a suit, a coat and maybe a shirt or two with no problem. This time I brought in a suit and five shirts on a Monday and picked them up in a hurry on a Friday. Prices were higher than I expected and late Saturday, I was packing for a trip and realized I was given someone elses shirts. I rushed back and the place was closed at 4 PM on a Saturday. Not a good thing. My wife had to get the shirts for me while I was gone and she had a hard experience. Screwing up is one thing, not admitting it is worse. We got the shirts back and I hope the other guy got his shirts back. read more

Ok, I have never written a one star review b/c it makes me feel like a mean person, but I really want to tell my neighbors not to waste their money here. First, Nina's is not open during the advertised hours. I have gone at least twice to pick up clothes during normal operating hours and it was closed. Second, the service could not be worse. One time I actually had to call the store WHILE I was standing in the front to get someone to come from the back to help me, despite my cries for help. Finally, the prices are ridiculous, esp. when you consider they didn't even have my three simple shirts dry cleaned on time despite the 5 days I gave them last time. NEVER AGAIN, NINA! NEVER AGAIN! I would not go here. I had been going here for at least 3 years, when recently the dry cleaner ruined one of my dresses. It was an Alice and Olivia dress and I never splurge on myself. From the beginning the dry cleaner attempted to tell me that it wasn't his fault, and that it was a manufacturing problem, but that he would 'do the right thing.' Basically, throughout the process he repeatedly tried to convince me that it was my responsibility to contact the manufacturer and get a refund from them because their dress was defective. I got a quote from the retailer of $330, but because I got it on sale, I was fine with settling for $250. Let me be clear. He did reimburse me for $250, but berated me the entire time, insisting that even though he ruined the dress, it was my responsibility to contact the manufacturer and get the money from them. That didn't make sense, so I finally said, 'You're making me feel like I did something wrong when you ruined my dress.' I was even willing to not take the money at the time if he wanted to first recoup the money himself from the manufacturer. Anyway, he was not a good person to work with after he did the wrong thing. I come to this place because it's just down the street from where I live and convenient for me to get to. They do a decent job of cleaning my silk items, but they can't always get the stains out. I recently brought a dress in to get shortened, and they did a wonderful job. In the same visit, I brought a sweater to get cleaned. It already had two small barely-noticeable holes from where moths got to it. When I got it back, the holes had gotten much bigger, and the sweater had shrunk significantly. Now I have to look into taking the sweater somewhere else to get repaired. Be warned, if you have sweaters that are expensive or you're very attached to, don't take them here. But for basic dry cleaning needs, Nina's is ok. read more

$6.95 per piece for dry cleaning. I was in a hurry so I thought I'd try it. Maybe they were going to do something extra special. But the result was quite the opposite! Didn't even get out a stain that would have been simple for my other cleaner, and my clothing smelled awful. I have no idea why this place is so expensive. When I asked the clerk working there why it was so expensive she couldn't really explain. Go anywhere else! Easy Cleaners on Guerrero and Duncan is a few blocks away , but they charge $3.50 per piece, no bad smell. read more

Over the past 3 years of living in the neighborhood, I've tried every dry cleaner around. Some are good, but they are a cash only place, or only open on weekdays and or they misplace my clothing. None of this has happened at Nina's. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but for the convenience of being able to use my atm card, pick up on a Saturday and they always have my clothes ready for me - makes all the difference in the world. So for the extra money, they provide a level of comfort that my clothes are going to cleaned and ready to go when needed- priceless! read more

Wow, I'm shocked at all the poor reviews. I've been going to Nina's for about 20 years. I recall one problem with the laundry they sent my shirt out to (it came back with a stain that it didn't go in with), but I've had similar experiences with every cleaners I've used in SF. I've stopped going to 4 other cleaners over the years because of repeated problems, so my one problem at Nina's seems minor. Their service is quick, the quality is (usually) good, and they're so friendly. I'm a sucker for a place where the owner bows to me as a greeting. read more

I should have read Yelp reviews before going to this place... TWICE. It's right by my house though. Convenience and proximity won. Ok so first of all, they are effin' expensive. However, I could deal with expensive if they did a good job and a good job they do not do. The first time I dropped off a simple black cardigan and it was 8 bucks. Though cleaned thoroughly, my cardigan was not ready on time and I had to come back for it two days later. Seriously? The second time I dropped of my expensive pea coat with satin lining. The cleaning was 15 bucks and what I got back barely resembled what I had initially brought in. The texture of the coat was completely different and the satin lining was shredded around the pockets. Seriously, what the fuck? That's all I can say. read more

My experience here is similar to many of the other tepidly positive reviewers'. It is on the pricey side for the neighborhood. I've had both alterations and dry cleaning done here, and no problems: everything has been done satisfactorily and on time, and when I've dealt with the owner she's been very pleasant. It is in a perfect location for me so I don't mind paying for the convenience when I have dry cleaning or mending/hemming jobs, which is a couple articles per month. Any complicated alteration jobs I'd probably take elsewhere, but Nina's suits my usual needs just fine. read more

I've used Nina's Cleaners for over 10 years and never had a bad experience. They shortened all my new pants and also did some mending when pockets are run through, replacing button, etc. They are friendly. Of course I miss the old owner, but the new folks are okay too. I don't comparison shop on dry cleaning prices because I rarely get dry cleaning, maybe two or three pieces per year so I can't comment on that. I will continue to use Nina's it's very convenient, no problems so far and it's a nice business to have in the neighborhood. read more

i'm a neighbor so just came here cause it was close. they were quick with my suit and got it back the next day. but the best part was that they fixed the buttons on two other shirts for free! i brought the shirts in with the suit and they said not to worry they could do it for me. really sweet. p.s. not sure why the low stars in the other ratings but also don't really want to pore over other people's reviews. read more

My husband and I have been taking our clothes to Nina's cleaners for almost a year now. We drop off items regularly... probably every 1-2 weeks. We have never had an issue and the owners are the nicest people ever. They remembered who I was on my second visit. It's that extra touch that make the difference in choosing a business. Our clothes are always ready on time (or earlier) and they have not had a problem turning around things very quickly when we have those special requests. They take the time and care to make sure all items are cleaned thoroughly and treat them as if they were their own. I would recommend them to anyone. I have lived in various neighborhoods all over the city for 20 years and they are by far my favorite dry cleaners. read more

One time they somehow managed to completely shrink (!) a nice $80 wool sweatshirt I brought in, rendering it unwearable; another time, they lost the jacket to my suit--a couple hundred dollars down the drain. Nina's Cleaners is really close to where I live, so i took my drycleaning there several times hoping that my bad experiences were atypical. unfortunately, it's just an overpriced place with really bad service. i suspect that they don't change their drycleaning chemicals often enough, but the last time i went there, my dry cleaning came back smelling awful. that was the last time i will ever go there. read more

Disappointed. First, my items were not ready the day they should have been--I dropped them off on a Thursday and was told to pick them up any time on the followingTuesday (which I already thought was a long wait). When I came in Tuesday around noon, I was told they weren't ready and to return again the next day (a hassle). Then, the bill. I dropped off an opera cloak and a short black dress for dry-cleaning. I expected the bill to be around $30, give or take, based on their sign, listing dresses as "$14.95 and up." Instead I got told that it was $65! When I gasped--and told them that my friend cleaned replicas of the same items for $15+tax TOTAL (at purpletie.com)--they knocked ten dollars off the bill. Still, ouch. Not what my pocketbook was expecting, and given the wait and the fact that it was just two items, I was shocked. I won't be returning here. Can't afford to shell out $50 to get two items freshened up. read more

CRAP! CRAP! CRAP. Not only have I been coming here for 2 years but I've let numerous less than good customer service experiences go by the waistline because I felt the place was CLEAN, ORGANIZED and the OWNER was somewhat pleasant. Well TODAY....I'M DONE. This place is crap, overpriced and HORRIBLE customer service. For all the people who gave this place 3+ stars has never had them lose anything. I took 2 jackets in to have them both dry cleaned and to have 1 of the buttons sewn on. Two months later and they STILL haven't sewn the button on and they lost the waist belt and accused me of losing it on my way out the door. Even though I came back the next day! The jacket was a $30.00 jacket so it's by far not the monetary value I'm pissed off about but the complete LACK of customer service and follow-through. I came back the next day to tell the owner that my belt was missing and that the button was never sewn on. She said she would look for the belt but typically they attach the belt to the top of the hanger and to come back in a couple days. I was moving so I didn't come back until 3 weeks later and the BUTTON STILL WASN'T SEWN ON! Mind you I already paid $37.00 bucks for just 2 jackets. So I already pre-paid for a service never finished. So I go in today, 2 wks later and STILL NO BUTTON SEWN and the owner NOW tells me I never brought the belt in!!! She refused to reimburse me for the button not being sewn on or for the belt missing or even offer me a SORRY. Complete CRAP!! There are 100's of laundry places to get good quality customer service and affordable prices in this city. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM CRAP-O-LA. read more

Worst dry cleaner ever! I brought a brand new Banana Republic shirt that was customly tailored for a simple wash and light starch and the fabric was destroyed. She yelled at me and made accusations that the garment was old and there after that it was due to stain, yet it was visibly due to chemical damage. After reading the reviews, I can see why she was so rude. Enough is enough, close your business and quit doing a disservice to the community. read more
