Decided on a quick dinner with the hubs the other night. Didn't feel like going in to order, so we ordered online. Unfortunately, our favorite location system was down or it was taking a long time to load, so I ordered at this location. I ordered my favorite tofu salad, with two of the wasabi dressing. When I got home, there was only one (and a red one). The won ton was also a different one from my other favorite location. The wife and I went back for the second time in 2 weeks. I'm increasing the rating by another star since we never encountered the issues we experienced the first time. On this trip, we again got the rainbow roll and the ahi lovers bento. But we also tried the tiger roll. Same great taste as the first time. The tiger roll was another winner. So much flavor. I think this is turning out to be one of our new favorite fast food places. I've been here a few times, but I should come here more often. The most recent visit, I only got 2 temakis (hand rolls) and I didnt realize how big they make them. I've eaten at many sushi restaurants and these guys have one of the biggest hand rolls I've ever had and I love it. I went there today around 2:30pm. Idk what's going on with their ac system, but mannnnn was it hot & uncomfortable there! But I could get over that because I know ac systems sometimes go kaput out of nowhere. What I couldn't accept was the attitude of the cashier. My goodness, she was icyyyyy and not friendly, at all. Maybe she was having a bad day? Who knows! But dang - don't let it affect your service towards the customers! When I had entered, there were a few people who had already ordered. So I walked to the cashier and waited to be greeted by the worker. She just kept doing her thang without any acknowledgement to me. Which is fine, she was busy doing stuff. But the second she walked to the register to take my order - she literally just stared at me. No hi/welcome/greeting whatsoever - just an icy ass stare. So I'm like, "hi! Can I have blah blah blah!" She told me the total and I paid, then that's it. As orders were ready, she'd say the numbers out in a soft voice that you could barely hear. There was a lady who asked her a question when ordering, but she'd just reply looking at the ground as if she didn't care to be there. I stopped coming to this location a while ago because I noticed their fish isn't as fresh as the Mililani location. But I decided to give them another chance since I wanted vegetarian options. Unfortunately, even the vegetarian options didn't seem to be fresh. I could see it especially in the cucumbers. Fast food sushi. You can tell the quality of the fish is a lot lower than restaurant quality. If it's fresh, it's supposed to melt in your mouth. This Ninja Sushi is not a conveyor belt type of sushi restaurant but more of a convenience in Waipio to eat at before or after going to Costco to fill up gas or purchase a couple of cases of water . The one employee was very energetic and besides taking your order plus receiving payment, also delivers the food to your table. I tried a Mango Cream Soda labelled "made in Japan" and it was good. I've never tasted it before on the island or in Japan, possibly cuz I'm an iced coffee or milk tea fan. My family absolutely loves the Ninja Sushi chain. This location just happens to be most convenient for us. We love that this location offers some creative rolls that the others don't have, like the Lion King Maki. However, their nigiri always comes up short with freshness and taste. This location is located behind Costco Waipio - next to Fat Boy, UPS, Panda's Express, and Starbucks. I came to Waipio for an appointment so it's convenient that Ninja Sushi was there. I ordered a chicken teriyaki salad. They prepared it quickly and I didn't have to wait too long. You can't go wrong with what you order. Everything is great - salads, nigiri, and maki. Reasonable prices. Several tables for you to dine-in if you wish. There's a mirror on the wall and it always fools me. I think there's an extension to the restaurant, but it's not. Haha. Day I went was: 3/11/2021 I put this review in my drafts and forgot to finish it! Went in and the lady behind the counter greeted us with a big and happy "hi, welcome!" She was very friendly and the overall vibe of this ninja sushi was welcoming and nice. The inside of the restaurant had a big open middle to stand in line and order or look at the menu and tables/seating to the sides of the restaurant if you wanted to eat in instead of taking out. Something that didn't really look appealing in the restaurant was they had a big plastic cover (was like a trash bag texture but clear/see through to see the cashier) in front of the register area, to protect the employee and to help with the social distance because of covid and there was a little hole in the plastic to put your money/card through to give to the the cashier. I know the plastic cover is there to help protect but it wasn't the nicest (kind of an eye sore) since everything else was neat and nice looking in the restaurant. The service was very fast and efficient! It wasn't busy so when we got there we ordered and it only took about 8-10 min for our food to come out. My boyfriend and I got the spicy ahi bento and the spicy ahi poke don which was both super yummy and had a lot so it was filling. Prices are reasonable because they give a lot! The parking lot wasn't too bad and we were able to get a spot right in front of the store so that was great. Keep in mind this ninja sushi is next to a starbucks drive thru so that kind of caused problems going in and out (leaving and arriving) of the parking lot because of the long line at the starbucks drive thru. I would have given this place 4 stars based purely on food quality but the young cashier was a little rude. I haven't been to this location in years since moving from Waipio to town. She was kind of sassy when I asked for my cup. She only handed me my food and made no reference to my drink. I was sitting in front of the register and could see the soda machine but the cups were tucked into the corner on the left. I leave these kinds of reviews in hopes of management reminding staff of how they should treat customers. It could mean the difference of people being repeat customers. I ordered the medium ika geso. We have always been happy with going to this place! They always have the food ready in a reasonable amount of time and the fish is pretty fresh even if it is a chain sushi place. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything that I ordered from there except for once when they're over cooked the udon noodles but that was only once out of at least a dozen times that I've been there. I always get the mini chirashi because they put pickles in the rice and they have a pretty good assortment of seafood on top of it for a very reasonable price of $10. It's been a while since I came to this location since I moved, but a lot has changed! I like how the menu is similar and I like the new additions to the menu but the prices have increased a lot ! I think the fountain drink prices are way too much. Over $2 for a small drink? I just go next door. Also new faces for the cashier. The tiger maka is the best thing ever and the customer service at ninja sushi is fantastic.

If I had a choice, I wouldn't come to ninja sushi much but my kids like here because my daughter and son both love the Spam sushi and the cone sushi. I like the Superman roll but think that the prices are not worth what you get. I went with the tonkatsu curry don this time because I wasn't too hungry and figured I would try something else then sushi. I was disappointed and surprised at the same time. The tonkatsu was not good, thin and not tasty. The curry had the consistency of curry that was intended for curry udon, watery and thin and no vegetables. The surprising part was the amount of rice and curry they gave. Half the bowl was rice and the other half was the curry sauce and the tonkatsu was kind of floating on the watery mixture. So although it wasn't great, it did fill me up for lunch. My daughter liked her food and wanted black sheep cream ice cream after so she wasn't full from lunch. Was just a subpar lunch but at least I didn't break the bank buying it. Oh and one last thing, I entered my phone number for their rewards program and redeemed a free tea but never got it. read more

One of the best things about living in Hawaii is the abundance of cheap sushi! Everywhere you go, be it busy downtown street corner, food court or strip mall, there's bound to be a budget sushi shop serving up tasty nigiri and maki rolls. It's not the freshest sushi, but it's a healthy option to fast food and plate lunch! Or that's what I keep telling myself... It was $7.99 for the hot udon with shrimp tempura. The shrimp were crispy and although fairly small in size, they were very tasty! I liked that the batter was dense because it made my tempura very crunchy. I prefer this over an airy batter that retains more oil. The udon noodles and soup weren't anything spectacular, but I honestly ordered it for my baby Isabel. It would have been nice if there were cabbage or some type of green veggie in the soup. I also ordered a spicy ahi handroll which was a bit small in size for $3.29. The restaurant itself is fairly clean and the girl cashiering was very pleasant! I gave an extra star just for her genuine smile. She even brought my food to our table on a tray which I thought was a nice touch. No one has ever done that for me at Kozo Sushi! Not anything I'd go out of the way to eat, but we'll be back when we're in the area as it's healthier than a slice of Costco pizza.
