I really love Thai massages and Pattaya does the job right. They give you a pair of stretched out boxers to wear and you take off your top. You put your face on two rolled up towels and you cover yourself with a blanket. The massage was pretty standard compared to all other thai massages I've gotten recently. They work on your neck and shoulders, back, legs, and then they have you flip over and massage your legs some more, your arms and hands, and your face.The massage therapist kneads you, walks all over you, and makes you feel oh so good! Writing this review makes me want to get another massage ASAP! Credit card accepted. It is located behind a restaurant. There are a few parking spots in the back but if it's full, you can park on the street, but be sure to check the signs. I think you're good if it's 6pm; you don't have to worry about 1 hour parking or anything like that. Overall, the massage gets the job done and definitely relaxes you. Neither blown away nor horribly disappointed by this massage parlor. Firstly, for the price, it really can't be beat - I believe it was ~$35ish for an hour long Thai massage. They were also accommodating for a same day appointment. Overall, a mediocre at best massage, although my masseuse was super weak in terms of the deep tissue portion. The massage "rooms" are simply partitions set up in a row - I suppose this wouldn't be a huge deal if you want to have a clothed massage; however for a traditional massage, if you are a woman over 5'6" or so you definitely have to awkwardly do this crouching/kneeling thing to undress. Anyway. My masseuse used a sort of icy-hot type cream for the massage and the freezing cold tingling was actually a bit unwelcoming. I've received massages at close to two dozen different establishments and have never had someone thinking that putting icy-hot cream over your entire almost naked body was a good idea. I couldn't figure out why I felt I felt so bizarrely cold, until I realized it was the massage cream she was using. Lastly, the entire second half of the massage my masseuse got up to answer the phone 4 times. So...um, weird, and weird to just sit in there and wait. And that happened over and over. That evening and next day - no noted relief/improved muscle tension. All in all, I'd rather pay twice as much to get a real massage by someone who seems to know what they are doing and actually feel some sort of benefit. read more

After my draining final exams, I decided to reward myself with a massage. I was glad I chose to try Pataya. It is behind Pataya Thai across PCC. The parking lot was small, but I came in at 6 pm so there were a few parking spots. The establishment was also tiny, but I did not have to wait when I walked in without an appointment. I had never had Thai massage before, but that massage relieved all my knots and stress. I actually fell asleep during the massage; it was just that good! Of course I could not sleep the entire time since the massage was stretching-based. My massage therapist was really friendly, and more importantly, she massaged me for the FULL HOUR! This was huge for me because I had experienced getting a 45-minute massage when I was paying for one hour. For $35, I thought it was worth it. Definitely would come back when I need another massage! I gave 2 stars because I have gone more than once and Becky the owner masseuse (if you could call her that) has been ok, I mean she does not give a massage she just works out the knots like anyone else would but ever since I started going to her she does things very weird that absolutely no one out there does so she starts by cleaning your feet with a warm towel after tht she goes to the restroom and actually goes (pee ) b/c you could hear everything and flushes and washes her hands but takes time out of your massage time so then you hope she washes her hands properly and then comes and rubs her hands on you. Wtf who does this????? She does every single time! Also when you call on the phone she could be very rude another negative!!! So yesterday finally broke the camels back! The area where this massage place has a small parking are sucks so yesterday there was a bit of a car Dilemma with a few cars tht kept me from entering he parking lot until the cars exited and I was able to get in so it delayed me about 10min she knew exactly what was happening b/c she was at the watching it go down, So proceeded to start my massage then stopped to do the restroom thing lol then stopped again and did lord knows what with a lady in the front another 10min so mind you my massage was at 7:30 it was 7:55 when we started and she tells me oh I have an 8:30 WTH!! So I said hhhhmmm well we just started anyhow the whole time she just didn't have a good vibe she wasted time on other body parts tht I didn't need and I told her I didn't! I'm really surprised to see negative reviews here. I've been going to Becky for about 3 years, and she's always so nice and hardworking. I don't understand why some of the comments here are so harsh. Becky has a good knowledge of what she's doing and where the pressure points are. Sometimes the massage hurts and my muscle is sore during or even after the massage. This is what it supposed to be like! If you are not experiencing any soreness, maybe you should ask her for a Swedish massage, not a Thai one! Especially not a deep tissue one. I personally like Thai and deep tissue. Though I feel sore, but soon after I feel so refreshed! Tensions in muscle went away. I don't think Swedish helps with tension that well. Also, almost every masseuse can do Swedish. It's fairly simple. Just palms and essential oils moving up and down... but not everyone can do Thai or work on your pressure points! For me, always too much tension in neck, back, lower back since I sit too long everyday for my office job. I also have tension in my calves since I do not stretch enough after workout. Becky will work on this area particularly and do a wonder. I went to a lot of massage places prior to Becky. Yet Becky is the most professional and consistent masseuse I've ever had. I wouldn't say the environment is super nice but considering how much I'm paying per hour, it's great deal! . The fancy places I went to usually charge $65-100 per hour. If you are expecting to pay $40-55 per hour at a flawless environment, I'd have to say maybe you need to go to another country where hourly labor is a lot cheaper. Maybe in China or in Thailand, you can have five star hotel spa amenities with $40-55 hourly rate. I haven't had a massage since California lock down and I certainly will make an appointment soon! read more

So this morning I woke up with a HORRIBLE pain in my left trap muscle. It hurt so bad I could barely withstand the pain to turn my neck to change lanes. I had never experience such pain after a bad night's sleep before and knew, at that moment, I am getting old. So, during my lunch break today, I went in to Pattaya Thai Massage. PARKING: There is a private lot, but you have to drive into it. The street parking is only for 1 hour, and, trust me, in Pasadena, parking cops are EVERYWHERE. It's to the left of the Book Mart, so turn into the little opening between Book Mart and the Thai restaurant. FACILITY: As the other yelpers said, this is a no-frills facility. You go behind a curtained wall, undress, put on a pair of men's boxers (next time I'm bringing my own shorts), lie upon a thin mattress with a towel covering your lower half. Most massage places have one of those O shaped cushions where you put you face, but at Pattaya, you have 2 rolled up towels that you carefully position so that your face doesn't touch the mattress. SERVICE: I had this wonderful little lady named Kid who worked on me. She was very sweet and tried very hard to work out the pain in my neck/shoulder area. I think over half the actual massage spent on that area. Unfortunately, no miracle occurred and my left trap muscle still hurt, BUT not as bad. The pain was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, like 80%. I really liked how she did exactly what I wanted and would focus on my problem spot. The massage oil used is just some Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion interspersed with this mint-y oil solution. After that you are wiped down with hot towels, dried, and covered. Kid really put the pressure on me which I loved and was worried every time I made a groan of pleasure. It just hurt so good! Afterwards, Kid gave a little bottle of water. PRICE: C'mon $35 for a 1 hour massage? And in Pasadena? You can't beat that! I'm never too sure how much you're supposed to tip, but $10 seemed like a good amount. I mean, it's so cheap and these ladies work so hard, $10 tip seems even a little low to me. I had been going regularly to another massage place for deep tissue massage (which I though was really good), but happened to injure myself over the weekend when my usual person was not available. It turned out to be a blessing because I found Pattaya and Becky! She found ALL of my painful knots and put me back together. I felt incredible! The experience made me curious about Thai massage because I felt so many more benefits than I had with the deep tissue massage. I found an article that stated that Thai massage has the most health benefits as compared to other types of massage because - 1) it stretches you like no other (so it is great for athletes), 2) it causes mental relaxation by balancing cortisol and seratonin, 3) it's helpful for pain relief, and 4) it increases blood circulation. For me, it has improved my sleep tremendously. I had chronic insomnia for years and woke up 3 or 4 times a night. After seeing Becky for a couple of months I would wake up once a night to use the restroom. I feel like Becky has taken 30 years off my age (I'm 58). She reads my body like people read tea leaves. She ALWAYS finds what's hurting and fixes it. She's the best! Come see her! read more

The Good: For a cheap last minute appointment massage, this place will do. At the time, there was a yelp deal for $30 or $35 per hour. Good for the Pasadena City College students across the street when they're feeling stressed. It kind of felt like I were in Thailand for a moment, kind of. The ladies that work here are very nice. The Bad: They seemed to be short staffed with no receptionist. My friend's masseuse walked out on him to pick up a phone call. The massage rooms are divided by Asian screens or wall dividers. You can hear everything; part of your neighbors' conversation with their masseuse (Even when they're whispering.), footsteps, whoever comes through the front door... You lay on the floor with a pillow, not one of those massage beds with a face hole. I had to re-position myself at times because it would get uncomfortable on my neck. In Thai massages, sometimes they'll step on you. They use a walker to do so instead of ceiling bars. I thought this was pretty funny. Last week I went there, they were doing a $35 special for all 1-hr massages. Instead of 1-hr, my 2 other friends and I each got at least 1.5 hr of massages! Even the massues there do not speak perfect English, they do try and make the effort to communicate and be as polite as they know how to. The massage I got was very nice. The pressure was perfect - She kept on asking if she was too hard or too soft. She let me know when she was about to pull my legs/arms so I would not move around/turn my head... I had a very good time. Although, it could get a little bit cold there sometimes and YES they do play music that you may not like. If you are used to $100+ massages or places with individual rooms, this place could seem a bit lacking for you. Just had a wonderful massage! 35 for an hour. Clean floor mat with clean fresh sheets. She had me go topless with some little pants she gave me to wear. My muscles were so tight she new exactly where I needed the attention. She stretched me and walked on my legs. I'm little but it felt great. As an athlete I should do this more often. At the end she gave me a bottle of water. Only one teensy complaint is that the massage spaces are only divided by curtains so I got to listen to a gentlemen be told to keep his underwear on haha Highly recommend this place though. I should have listed to the yelp reviews and not come here. This is a very small place with cloth as room separators. Maybe 3 room tops, I have tired to make appointments a few times and was successful the third time. When I got in, I was put in this cute little room with a mat on the floor. I thought it was great at first until the phone rang..then again...and again...and again....my masseuse would leave the room and go take the calls, there were two of them so they would take turns. So the other person who is getting a massage was experiencing the same thing I was. Great. The worse part is that if you pick up every call...then what about my first two? My neck was hurting by the time massage ended because I was only laying on a mat, meaning I have keep my neck at a weird angle for almost an hour. Not a great place for relaxation. read more

I was in desperate need of a good massage, and something in a reasonable price. Pattaya Thai Massage is really close to where I work, so I called in for an appointment for that same afternoon. The location of the parlor is behind a restaurant on Colorado Blvd. There isn't much parking spots in their lot itself, but you may find some on the side streets around Colorado that is good for 2 hours. However if you do park on Colorado Blvd itself, it's only a 1 hour parking. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a nice aroma. My masseuse had been expecting me and immediately walked me into my 'area'. The establishment is small - one hallway with several 'areas' that are divided by curtains and wall dividers. The mattress is on the floor and you prop your head between a regular pillow and a towel. You can hear any noise that goes on in the place. Luckily, I went during a time when I seemed to have been the only one there. However, if I wanted the whole shebang, I would have gone to an expensive spa. As such, I wasn't expecting much. I just needed a good massage. And that's just what I got. My masseuse was super nice and kept me calm and relaxed throughout the 1 hour Swedish massage. She worked my whole body - from scalp to toes - and focused on the area problems I mentioned to her. She was definitely determined to give me a great massage, going so far as to stepping on my leg and getting on all fours to put enough pressure on my back. I've been here several times and I keep going back, because I've never had a bad massage here. I'm a violinist and have to get deep massages for the Lactic Acid buildup in my shoulders/neck. I've had dozens of different types of massages from Chinese Tuina to Swedish to Deep Tissue at places that range from places that speak no English to high-end Day Spas. This place consistently gives me one of the best massages. I always get either regular Thai massage or a combinaton of Thai and Deep-Tissue, depending on how bad my upper back feels. Thai massage seems to be a combination of sort of a chiropractic stretching and a sort of trigger-release acupressure. They also gently stand on your legs and use elbows to get the really bad knots. You can tell them "hard" or "light" for the pressure. The stretching was sort of strange at first because I've never had that in a massage but it really helps my lower back and hips. They use warm towels at the end (nice!). Everything the other reviewer said was the same experience I've had (except for the music comment - when I've gone it's been either Chinese music or Spanish Guitar which I really find relaxing). As far as the privacy issue - the first time I went it was sort of uncomfortable but I quickly got over it because the massage was so good (but maybe I'm just not super modest). I took my mom and sister-in-law and they didn't seem to have a problem with it either. My husband also goes (he's an athlete and has the same problem with back knots). I would give them 4 and a half stars because it would be nice to have walls or thicker curtains but I have to round up to 5 stars because the massage is so good. They've discounted their prices recently because of the bad economy so I can go here 3 times for the price of one visit to a Day Spa (and get an as-good or better massage as any Day Spa in my opinion). read more

I started yelping other Thai Massage Places in Pasadena and found this place with good reviews. I decided to try this place after experiencing horrendous knot pains in my shoulders. After 2 hours with the masseuse, I felt so much better. The masseuse really took her time to massage my troubled areas and she made me feel so relaxed. This little massage places is located in a small house behind a Thai Restaurant on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. The prices are amazing. $35 per hour. Parking can be limited though as the parking spot is small. Try to call ahead of time when possible. I always leave this place relaxed and refreshed. I love Thai massages. I typically go to Pho Siam in dtla or Ancient Thai spa in Covina. I was happy to find a Thai massage place when I moved to Pasadena. Overall the massage was decent, but my biggest gripe was that I asked a few times during the massage to go harder, and she refused. She mentioned that she might hurt me. I'm not a small guy and I like massages that give me a little bit of pain. I even said if it hurts i'll ask you to stop and she refused. The lady was pleasant but I will not be back. After having 2 weeks of leg & hip pain from Sciatica, i decided that since I wasn't seeing a doctor, I would see if I could get some relef via massage. I had no appontment so I walked in and was taken immediately. They have you pay up front, so be warned. They also have a tip space, but hey, bring cash for that. they currently have a $35 special thai massage which was tremendous. It helped so much, not all the way, but enough to sooth my pain! We made a last minute appointment and they were more than accommodation (we were their last appointment of the night). They also give you some thin drawstring pants to change into. I wasn't aware of this at first and was surprised. Affordable and quality in one no frills place. I needed a massage badly so I rang this place up and booked one. It's located behind a Thai restaurant on Colorado so finding the driveway to the place is one of those blink and you'll miss it experiences. I was ushered into a small curtained off area just big enough for a small mattress. I was given some large shorts and told to lay face down to start. I didn't specify what kind of massage I wanted so I got the default Thai massage. It's involves walking on you and stretching you out at times which I find relaxing. The lady asked me about my problem areas and focused on those. The highlight of the massage for me was the face and scalp massage. So many different techniques were used on me, that hour felt like 90 minutes. I was stunned when I went to pay and was charged only $35. This place is legit -- they take credit cards and allow you to tip on your credit card. At these prices I can finally afford to make bi-weekly massages a part of my life! read more

Gave them a try yesterday, and an older lady worked on me. I requested a table because they only have beds on the floor separated by curtains. I think it would hurt your neck real bad if there isn't those holes in the bed type the usual massage places have. 1. My massage felt shorter than 1 hour. It was a simple repeated fast stroke with same movements. I'm pretty sure you need at least 20 mins on the back , but felt like 10. 2. It was just weird, her breathing was hard.
