Every time I am in the Thousand Oaks area to visit family, my dad and I always get a massage. We've tried several different Chinese massage shops in the area and Nirvana was far superior than all the others for several reasons: Ambiance- it's dark, cool, quiet and furnished nicely. The massage chairs are comfortable and it's the perfect setup for a relaxing experience. Masseuse -we've had massages from Anna, Wendy, Judy and Emma and they all do an amazing job. They put forth a lot of effort and listen to our requests. I like hard, deep massages and all of them always listen. Overall experience- easy parking, good prices and helpful staff. The manager helps translate requests if needed. I usually get a 90 minute massage and it's never enough. read more

My fiancé and I came here with our wedding party which came out to about 11 people. It was such a last minute decision but When we called the same day hoping we would be able to get massages for everyone. Yan was sweet enough to accommodate our large party between two back to back time slots. She did everything she could to help us enjoy and relax within all the wedding chaos. Each person had their own separate partitioned room which was private enough. If and when customers did make too much noise in the waiting area, the masseuses quickly shushed them as to not disturb the quiet and calming environment that was being provided. Awesome everything. Service was nice and fast. It was dark with nice music from the time I walked in the door to the time I left. The massage was great. I got the 60 mins for $40. What a deal. The only thing keeping me from a 5-star review was the table I was on. The face-hole was pretty covered with towels and disposable paper, which is good, but it crept underneath around my nose and made it a little difficult to breath. To adjust I had to stick my chin in the hole a little bit, and when the pressure from the massage began on my upper back, a lot of the weight ended up on pushing my neck into the table almost choking me a bit. It took some adjusting, and I never got it quite right. Without my chin in the hole, the weight was all transferred to my chin being pushed into the edge of the hole. I don't know if it's just me or if anyone else has had this problem, but with a better face-pillow or table set-up I'd give it 5-stars. read more

I have been going to Nirvana for a few years every week and it is the one luxury I allow myself because they are kind passionate about their job and do an absolutely amazing job of taking care of their customers. Ivy is my favorite if you like a deep tissue style but she can really do any style. They are all really good masseuses and I would recommend this place over and over again. read more

I normally don't write a review because I am kind of lazy...but I felt sorry when I read a couple of previous negative reviews of this place and I feel I need speak out my experience with the place. I have been to many massage places in this area and Nirvana remains to be my favorite. I have been coming to this place for more than 5 years at a frequency of 4 times a month. This is a safe, clean and cozy place, the massage therapists are highly skilled. Due to a backpain problem, I normally go to male therapists and I found their services very professional. I have not had any bad experience which is quite unusual because I could be quite picky on the level of the therapists' skills and experience. I also tip well as a respect to their hard work. In case you have never had one, it's a head to toe massage over your clothed body while your feet rest in warm soothing water. Since you are clothed, it's a good idea to wear comfortable attire and pants that can be rolled up for your foot bath. I got a male masseuse. His name was Michael. Oh Lord I needed a massage and I'm glad my boyfriend and I went here. The ambience was quiet and mellow with some soothing music playing softly in the background. There are private rooms sectioned off by curtains and one big part in the middle with maybe eight massage tables. We got full body massages for $40 each and we chose which essential oil we wanted to be massaged with for an additional $10. The ladies there are really nice yet have strong hands that will melt your worries away~ Later that day I realized I was able to turn my head without a cramp threatening my neck! Foot massages are on and off here. I like them more when done by women. They seem more in tune with my needs and not needing to prove their macho-ness on my poor neck and shoulders without paying attention to how tense my body gets. Women are strong too, but are definitely more aware of body language. I love Annie for body massages. She's really good and will give you a proper whole body massage including tummy! Worst experience EVER! Do NOT waste your money or your time. First of all they overbook frequently which means you will not get full attention because someone will start your massage and leave you alone for more than 5 minutes at a time while they switch massage therapists on you or move you to another area altogether. I thought I'd treat myself to a much needed massage as my brother passed away a few weeks ago and I had been under much stress and grief. What was supposed to be a treat for myself turned in to a total NIGHTMARE. First of all, I scheduled my evening appointment at 1:30pm today and when I arrived the owner told me I wasn't on the schedule and that she had overbooked again. I was ready to leave when she said they could take me after all. She was in a mood and nasty. I have been here several times before and she's always trying to up sell the massage and has attitude when I don't accept. So where to begin with this fiasco ... I was taken in by a nice female therapist and 1/4 way through the massage I hear major commotion as they're conversing completely stressed out about what to do as the next appointment that they overbooked arrived. I was left for a good 10 minutes laying in the bed with no explanation . Then the owner comes over to complete the massage with me and with a bad attitude. She starts massaging my back like a bulldozer (I kid you not) . I let out a squeal and she calls me a "big baby" .. really? It was the most obnoxious and rough massage I've ever had. I felt like getting up and walking out but I stayed. I was never able to relax because they talked and talked and talked . Who does that while giving a massage ? Equally obnoxious was that she was answering calls while massaging my back with one hand .. wtf! She kept running back and forth to the front door every time someone came in or another staff member had a question. Clearly , she overbooked the night but still .. no bedside manner, no explanation and no apology. I couldn't even relax with all the commotion and interruptions. Not cool. Also, not to mention her horrendous breath as she was breathing on my face while digging in to my back. Just gross. I'm so disgusted and rarely even write reviews as I'm not one to complain much but this ruined my night and was a waste of money . She shouldn't have charged me AND should have offered a free massage to make up for the 3 ring circus . Being the classy (and too nice of a person that I am) I paid and even gave her a tip. She didn't even thank me. Horrible manners. Many people have had good experiences but considering what I just experienced on a night that I set aside for myself, I'm beyond disappointed and will never come back here ever again. First time in. Overall nice massage, HOWEVER I was overcharged $25.00 by the manager. I went off their price chart expecting the prices I saw both on line and on their spa chart. As I am in the middle of getting my massage the manager comes in to prep for my face massage and tells me the prices which did NOT match up to their price chart. Of course, I am laying there getting massaged already so I obviously can't contest it or get up. While I am getting the face massage she proceeds to try and sell me a product she is personally selling on top of it. The face massage did not end up being 30 minutes and was a little rubbing at best and no way worth $35.00. The end all is I go to pay and she ups the price from what she even told me in the room! She then says she gave me something for free, like that was supposed to matter? I didn't expect or ask for anything additional and she did whatever she considered a "freebee" without asking me ahead of time. SO sketchy and very bad way to do business. I won't be back. Boy what a massage, Tom took care of a back problem I have been dealing with for over a week. In one session he made the pain disappear. I had an overall really nice experience here. The atmosphere is very calming. The lighting is dim which I find very relaxing. I had an hour long body massage from Cece and then the infrared sauna treatment. The massage was amazing, cece is very talented and did such a fantastic job. I usually never get my face massaged but she did such a great job on the rest of me that I didn't mind. She truly is awesome. The sauna is nice, very warm but it is a big public. The owners may consider hanging a curtain by the sauna entrance so people aren't able to watch you. Lastly, I asked over the phone if they took spa finder gift cards and I was told that they did. When I went to pay they told me that they didn't take Spa finder gift cards. I explained to the lady that she needs to offer more coaching to her employees and instruct them to be familiar with all methods of payment that are acceptable. In addition, she kept interrupting me and was a bit rude to me. I would recommend that she listen to her clients and offer a more polite atmosphere, especially since they are a business built around inducing relaxation. My wife and I have been coming here for years. We believe it's the best spa in the area for the money. We always pay extra for the "Blue" massage oil, as there is nothing better. Yes, it cost a tad more but well worth it. Never had a problem with tipping because we tip on the quality of the massage, not the inexpensive cost of the massage. We're still saving a ton of money by not going to the "high-end" hotel spas where it's $200 to $300 for a massage. There are a lot of choices on Thousand Oaks Boulevard but this is our favorite! When I just finished my full body message, their manager came and told me I can't do the foot message because they are busy and there is no room for me to do that and I can't do it in the place I did my full body message because this room only used for body message. Now I only have two options. One is leaving away and one do 90 mins body message which using this way they can charge more. This is sooooo bad. My bro-n-law treated me and my husband to this place yesterday. What a wonderful surprise! It is a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We rec'd the 1 hour foot massage -which includes quite a bit of body massage as well (fully dressed). We both really enjoyed it-we were in the large room with multiple massage tables-but I was so relaxed with in 5 minutes that it didn't matter---this is a first for me-i've never been in a large room with others. My husband got so relaxed he actually feel asleep. I would suggest light fitting t-shirt/tank top and either shorts or work-out pants that can be rolled up. I have been to Nirvana Day Spa few times for foot massage. I was extremely disappointed today. I gave the man who massaged me 17% tip. However, he disputed with me for 33% tip. Tip is optional. I'm shocked how he bullied me for additional tip. Usually, the manger is there. However, she was not there today as I asked for her. I asked the individual for his name and he would not give me his name. He walked away. Absolutely unprofessional behavior. I would highly not recommend this place. read more

I have never written a bad review before but the manager had such terrible customer service skills that I felt inclined to. I got a 1 hour massage for $40 and the massage was about a 6/10 overall. I'm a massage therapist myself so I'm probably a bit picky with the massages I get but anyway... so at the end the manager walked in on me twice while I was changing! Then when it was time to pay, the manager charged me for the massage and asked me how much I was going to tip. Redflag#1 you don't ask someone out loud in the lobby how much you're tipping, that's something personal. Redflag#2 she asks me am I sure that's how much I'm going to tip because she thinks it should be more, then says out loud what we should tip. Are you kidding me??? I said yes I'm sure. I've never been so embarrassed in my life. Now here's the cherry on top, she asks me where am I from as if she was implying that I must be from a low income area.
