Awesome experience. Really needed a massage before taking the GRE and had a very mediocre experience at massage envy. These people mean business! As soon as I got there I was immediately greeted and situated. Emma was very good at addressing my personal preferences and was very thorough! Minimal conversation but she made sure that I was comfortable. Personally, I tipped 25% because the massage was very low price and the professionalism was outstanding! called this place up at 9pm on a friday night and they were willing to take my boyfriend and i for 1hr full body massages at 9:15 (they close at 10) for costing only $40 i thought it was just as good as an American massage just that we weren't in our own room with a door, it was more of a couples space with a curtain. I think coming to this place is worth it, if you can't get into your favorite American salon/you don't want to pay a fortune at an American salon. i would definitely come back to this place! read more

My original review was how I felt after my first massage here. I am reviewing my last visit. I added the foot bath/scrub and did not receive it. I did not like my massage either. It felt rushed. However, I could disregard that. I spoke up to my masseuse during my massage but I wasn't going to be rude and walk away. My issue that I would like addressed is that the woman working the front desk was extremely rude to me. I left a tip but it wasn't what I'd usually give. She argued with me and told me this is a business and not a restaurant. I don't understand, as I've always tipped based on service. If your service was subpar, why would I give a large tip? The rest of the transaction was embarrassing and I felt terrible afterward. I will unfortunately not be back until the manager or whoever is working the desk, no longer works there. It's too bad because I really enjoyed the shop and my overall experience there. read more

I really like this place. After being a customer for a few years now, what I like most is that it is always a good consistent experience. I personally like their set up compared to other massage parlors in the area. I appreciate how quiet they are and the soothing music that plays as you receive a massage. I usually get a $20 foot massage for 1 hr (which is full body) but I prefer their $40 private room for 1 hour which is also a full body, but they add oils and do more deep tissue opening some of those stubborn knots. I have tried almost all the masseurs and have my favorites that I book it with in advance. Good service for the price, if you need to get a quick one after a hard work week. read more

I've come to this location twice now. The massages are great for the cost. The problem is the manager. She runs the front desk and sometimes will do a massage. She is horrible. The first time she did my massage and spent the majority of the time trying to sell me on some facial treatments she does on the side. I had to spend my time talking politely and complimenting her on how she "looked young". The second time, I was able to get a different person for a full body massage (felt amazing). But when I went to leave, the manager was checking me and my sisters out and she had the audacity to tell me how much to tip! Minimum $10 each please. I was going to tip that anyways since the massage was so good, but why do you need to tell me this lady? I won't go back here again while that woman works there and I don't recommend anyone else does either. Unless they like being solicited by the staff during their massages. read more

We've been coming to Nirvana regularly for nearly a year now. We always have a great massage. We have a couples massage. We have found Yan to always be accommodating, our massages to be great and our overall experience to be super. It is best to call ahead if possible even though they do accept walk-in clients. We've had the private massage room, the community room and the curtained couples area all of which are fine. The price is very reasonable and the massage is really wonderful. We will continue to be regular customers and encourage anyone looking for a massage to try Nirvana. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been going here for years and have always had a great massage there. Today though I went and the staff went above and beyond. They targeted all my problem spots like my neck back and forearms. I came in with a headache and left feeling much better. Today I also added the essential oil and it was fantastic. I was worried it would be too fragrant because I'm sensitive to strong smells but it was extra relaxing and the smell lessened substantially once I left. They were so accommodating and it just felt so fantastic. I've already taken many friends and family members here all of which returned too. I love how you can walk in or make an appointment go with friends and not spend to much on a massage. read more

My mom and I have been here a few times for their one hour foot massage. It's a great deal and one of the nicer locations in terms of setting (dark room w/ lanterns, shades, etc.) and noise level (you still hear phones being answered and people coming and going but it's better than other places). I am primarily writing this review so that people are aware of some of the issues prior to going. First of all, they are most likely going to try to up sell you on a service when you arrive, even if you already told them what you wanted over the phone. For example, you want an hour foot massage and they ask if you want the full body massage instead so make sure you are aware of what you are agreeing to before they start! On one occasion, I had a male masseuse and when massaging my hand, he placed it uncomfortably close to his lap (I have had many Chinese foot massages here and at other locations and this has never been a problem before). So, when my mom and I made the decision to go back, we called the day before and I told the person answering that we wanted female masseuses. It seemed like that was not an issue and we made the appointment. When we arrived, I again told the person at the front desk that we wanted females masseuses and we were seated with our feet in hot water. All of a sudden, a man appears behind me and starts massaging my back! And then a man appears behind my mom. I actually started laughing because it was so ridiculous! I guess I could have stood up and made a scene but I decided to go with the flow. While the massage was decent, my masseuse had obviously just had a smoke break and didn't bother washing his hands so he reeked of cigarettes, especially when working on my face/neck area. I CAN'T STAND cigarette smoke, although I realize that might not be a problem for some people. A little while later, I hear another woman coming in for her massage and loudly complaining that she requested a woman several days in advance and they were trying to give her a man instead. This went on and on for a few minutes and was very distracting but a woman finally appeared to help her out. In any case, I think there is a language barrier and don't feel like this happened on purpose but wanted to give anyone else a head's up. As with most Chinese foot massages establishments, you will get the routine massage and probably won't be able to communicate with anyone about specific areas you need massaged. However, it's hard to complain given the price. If you want a quiet, relaxing spa where you can get individualized service, you should probably look elsewhere. read more

I love this place! Time to finally review it. I usually book last minute, and they are very accomodating, no trouble at all. I usually get the organic facial and massage with a private room. Which is beautiful. I like how dark and peaceful the environment and ambiance are. It may not be to some people's tastes but to me it is extremely relaxing and puts me in the perfect state of mind. TERRIBLE place! They had 3 different people massaging me . One would start then one would stop and then someone else started then the other person finished it. Totally unorganized , strange vibes and the massage was terrible. They just want your money and BOY DO THEY WANT a tip!! I used to love this place however the last experience was terrible. We came for A massage and the main lady at the front was so rude!! I asked her if my husband and I could be next to each other as she was trying to put us on completely opposite ends and she told me no. I was so blown away that I told her we wanted to leave and she then manages to put us together. I got a gentleman and my husband got a female. I loved my massage until my guy legit fell asleep massaging my feet!!!! He kept going in and out of sleep and kept yawning! It was terrible! I kept kicking him to wake him up!! The best part is the lady massaging my husband was legit caressing his chest and I've been here a million times that never happens! So awkward for me! Never come here if you want to be relaxed! I come in here a lot and usually give a good tip because the $20 hour long massage is great and totally worth it but this last time my friend and I went in and I was really excited to show it to her but both of our massage therapists were talking a lot and as they'd talk they would stop massaging us so her and I left pretty disappointed. By Far The Best Chinese Foot Massage! I have been to many different Massage centers throughout the LA area and I keep coming back to Nirvana Day Spa. They are very kind and courteous and most of all have only the very best massage therapists on hand. It's hard to believe you can get a 1 hr foot massage including shoulders and back for $20 + tip! The space is very clean, open and inviting. I love to go there and get a massage and then go next door to Lassen's natural food store and grab a cleansing juice drink. They prepare it fresh to order! FYI: The reviewer Chizu O who wrote that she had a negative experience at Nirvana Day Spa sounds VERY Fishy to me. She is obviously biased because the only other review she has written is for a massage center in Canoga Park and gave them a positive review on the exact same day huh?? She obviously works for or has a friend at the other mentioned massage center. hmm.. That's just wrong & very unethical to me. Give Nirvana Day Spa a try and I promise you will absolutely love it and keep coming back for more TLC:) You deserve it! read more

A couple of weeks ago and several recommendations from friends later...I thought it would be fun to bring the family. So with husband and kids in tow, we ventured out on a Sunday evening. Very clean, the atmosphere and energy were great! My husband and kids were first timers to the world of a Chinese foot massage, so I was a bit nervous of how they might feel/respond. The woman at the front desk was very accommodating and before I could say anything, she had my 11 yr old daughter paired with a female masseuse. Huge points to her! My family is now hooked! Unfortunately, I have two areas to critique and for us, it was the difference of making our session from outstanding to just okay. First - My husband and I felt both our masseuses spent too much time away...as in we had to remove the towel from our eyes to see where did they go?...still a good massage but it would have been exceptional if they hadn't kept stopping and disappearing. Second - Both my husband's and my masseuse spoke constantly to each other during our session. I found their whispering conversations with each other not only distracting but quite uncomfortable. If I could rate at 3 1/2 stars, I would. However, I have high hopes our next visit will be more consistent to the reviews. If so, I will post an update! read more

They are nice people, who work hard, for a great price. So, even if you don't have a lot of money, you can get a wonderful foot massage, (which is much more), for $20+tip. Both my husband and I have frequently come here for massages over the last 5 years. We love their private 90 min massage and the price is incredible! I have been here three times now and will not be going back. After reading the great reviews, I thought it would be good. But it is not. Each time I have had somebody different, in an effort to find the right person that is giving this place all the five-star reviews. Today I went and the only thing that was changed on the massage table was the paper towel under my face and the paper towels near my feet. Ewe! The lady did not even soak my feet and I went in for the $20 foot massage. She massaged my back over my shirt and the towel the entire time, no oil, no touching my skin. Once she got to my feet, she stayed there forever massaging the same few places, I am not sure she knew what she was doing. The first time I went there I had a terrible experience with the manager lady, I believe her name is Yan. She talks incessantly, about nothing in particular, and in what is not very good English so you cannot understand what she is even saying. I did however get the gist of it, she was bad mouthing another client. If you have ever been to Crystal Palace in Newbury Park, then you will know that Nirvana is so not worth it. I'm not sure about this place. Facilities were fine, and the massage was fine, but when they ran my credit card and then my debit card, they said both were declined. I was embarrassed and I ended up having to give them all the cash left in my wallet to cover the amount and tip. As soon as I got in my car, I called my credit card company to see why it was declined, but they said they never received a charge from this spa. Was their credit card machine broken or did they just want cash? I'm not sure, but with other massage places in town, I won't be going back here to find out. read more
