My daughter and I are from Kansas and decided to take a Fall trip to NYC to see some Broadway Shows. We found Nittis for an amazing meal before seeing Little Shop of Horrors. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and my daughter ordered the Mama Mia-breaded chicken with eggplant Parmigiana on top. Both were amazing! And the wine was amazing too! The menu had the perfect amount of options. We ordered a bottle for the table which was decanted perfectly and the wait staff were on top of refilling our glasses with wine and water. Wow. This is going to be a long review because after dining at Nitti's there isn't one aspect about the restaurant that I don't want to compliment. So buckle up. So let's start at the beginning. The hostess as soon as we entered was warm and greeting us and when sat us at a lovely table could sense my fathers trepidation at sitting close to the door, and immediately offered to move us further into the restaurant without us having to say anything. The ambiance inside is nice and modern without being pretentious. The music does a nice job of switching between jazz and modern hits. We started the evening off with some craft cocktails which while on the pricier side were well worth it. I immediately was drawn to the cereal infused cocktails they had (yes you read that right) and decided to go with the Bam Bam which is basically If you spiked your bowl of captain crunch with bourbon and freaking delicious! My mother went with the Bada Bing (berry and citrus infused gin) and my brother went with the Miami 1981 (mezcal and elderflower) we all passed them around to try cause they were all so balanced so compliments to the bartender! The bread service at Nitti's is also exquisite as Nitti him self told us they make their own bread every morning as well as their rosemary butter and truffle honey butter. That being the case you would expect them to be stingy with refills. They were not, so no need to save bread to go with your meal at least they were happy to refill ours. Deciding what to order was probably the least enjoyable part of our experience as everything looked delicious and gave no clear indications as to what would be the best option. I almost went with their special osso bucco but ended with the short ribs and polenta soufflé. Which I thought might be short ribs mixed with polenta but it was one huge short rib, and a polenta soufflé on the side. The short rib fell apart instantly (in a good way) and when mixed with the polenta was superb. My mother ordered Fagottini which came with mushrooms and truffle oil and other stuff. My father got the chicken Parmesan and brother ordered the Vermicelli. I can tell having tasted everyone's that I'm not sure there is a bad dish at this restaurant. That being said my favorite was probably the Fagottini which filled the room with the truffle smell so much so that my mouth began to water at the end of our meal when the table next to us ordered it later. We weren't going to do dessert but when the owner tells you they have a in house pastry chef and they make everything in house. This made it all but guaranteed that we were gonna try the cheesecake. Take it from me try the cheesecake. But be warned they end the meal with house-made biscottis. The final note about Nitti's is the service. Our server Alexandros was an absolute pleasure that really added to the experience. He was able to expertly guide us through the menu describing each dish and cocktail in a way that caused us each to change our minds at least once. He also followed proper etiquette and table manners removing plates and empty glasses promptly, all with a smile. Overall my family left Nitti's so satisfied it was all we talked about for the rest of the evening! Ended up here after finding out our initial pick was closed - and glad I did! Pizza crust was perfect (in my opinion): thinner than your average thin crust yet soft edges, crispy and can hold up to the toppings offered. My friend and I got the artichoke and prosciutto topping (as well as a mixed salad which had a little too much dressing - but I'm sure you can ask for it on the side). What an experience. We walked in on a Saturday brunch and the place was dead. It smelled like bleach when we arrived. The decor was so outdated. First thing was we ordered an almond milk latte.. it came out cold, not iced, just cold. The excuse was there was a new guy making drinks. Well I have never heard of being so new that you don't realize a latte needs to be hot. Second thing was we ordered burgers for brunch, when we asked to add a fried egg in it they wanted to charge us 9$ for that addition. So I declined. Later the waiter comes over and says he asked the chef and he can do it for 3$. So all three of us said that's better, sure go ahead and add one to each of our burgers. The best part is that the chef came out to our table, he was barely understandable, but said something along the lines of "ughh I want to kill you guys, why don't you make up your minds??" and went on about how it was difficult to edit our food orders now. Adding an egg to a burger really complicates things for you, a chef? Honestly we were so taken back I wanted to just get up and walk out the door. So three burgers, a latte, a juice and a mimosa, all below average costed us 120$. 120 for a shit brunch and a whole bunch of rudeness and unprofessionalism. My friend and I went to this restaurant on their first Friday and Saturday night open. We were blown away by the cool ambiance of the restaurant. The bartender was highly knowledgeable on the menu and was able to recommend one of the best pasta dishes known to man!!! The pasta was in a mushroom truffle sauce... just know it's not to share - you won't want to! It's that good. Went to this restaurant with two friends and had high expectations. I've dined here before and had a good experience, so I expected the same. Not only was my experience completely different, it was terrible. The waiter was a bit stand off-ish at first. We remained humble and nice, kept smiles on our faces (maybe he had a bad day?). After we ordered drinks, he checked back on us and had a look of disgust. We awkwardly ordered our appetizers and didn't say anything else. About 5 minutes later my friend notices something.There was a huge crack in my glass, which I didn't see as I was about to put my mouth directly on it. Also, the water we were given looked as if had a million dust particles settling to the bottom. We called over our waiter and told him about the glass. Without a word, he simply stared at us, then continues to pick up the glass without a word. He returned a new one later, also without speaking. Onto the food... The complimentary bread was cold and brittle. My chicken parm was okay. One of my friend's ordered a steak; medium well. The steak she received was so well done that we couldn't even cut through it. It felt like coal. The steak was sent back and we asked for a new one. To our surprise, the new steak was so rare that there was a pool of blood on the plate. Some of the inner parts, of the middle of the steak, were so rare that it was actually cold to touch. The aroma was also potent and disgusting. We called over a different employee; a lady we spoke to as we were seated. We told her about the steak and asked for a refund. She then said "well you've gotten two steaks from us, now that it's medium well you don't want it ?". We continued to go back and forth until we decided to just give up and pay for it. Had an incredible experience dining at Nittis. They were incredibly accommodating for our large (18 people) group, and the food was delicious. Will, the owner, worked with me in the days leading up to our large group dinner, and he assured me that they would put something good together for us. He told the truth. He even came over on multiple occasions and checked in on the group. When we all got a bit louder as the night progressed, the staff was not turned away or upset at all. I ate here after a Broadway show this past weekend. We came in with a reservation between 5-6pm. The place was mostly empty but was filled by the time we left. The decor is bland, the bar looks nice. The main reason for the one star was the service- just awful. The food on its own would be 3.5 stars. Poor service screams poor management. Our waiter acted more like a bouncer than a waiter- zero personality other than to rush us through our dinner. He really showed zero skills in being hospitable. He grunted and spoke in fast phrases "you gonna order food?", "ready to order?" He asked for our order before asking if we wanted drinks and then seemed annoyed when we ordered drinks. Food came out in literally 7-8 minutes, so who knows how freshly prepared anything was. Some dishes were good, others just blah. The chicken parm had little taste. The bill was dropped without asking, and believe me we were not snoozing at the table. The service was most attentive when trying to pick up the bill twice before we had put a card in it. Overall, a totally lame experience. Many other very good reviews shows we had an off experience perhaps, but I will definitely not be going back nor recommending this place to anyone. A very unpleasant experience. We went because of the reviews planning to order some of their small dishes at Happy Hour. We had trouble finding the place because they did not have a lit sign and it was dark. We made it with 10 minutess to spare and figured we would grab a drink and then order off the main menu. They did not honor their advertised time for happy hour. We asked for Happy Hour Menu and the waiter went to get one. He never came back. We asked the next waiter and he said, "Oh, just a minute." and went away. It was now 3 minutes til 6 and we asked the woman waitress if we could see the Happy Hour Menu and she ssaid yes but then one of the orginial waiters came up behind her, whispered and she said "No Happy Hour is over." We decided to just order a drink since we had taken up a table, (There were 6 total custsomers in the place.) which we did, at regular prices and then left to get dinner elsewhere. We are 75 years old and this was planned to be a nice evening prior to the play on Broadway. The waiters were sniggering and giggling among themselves so it must be fun to "put one over on the old folks." If you advertise your Happy Hour til 6, then you should honor your time. It was snotty and arrogrant and they made us feel like worthless intruders. We will never go back to this awful place. read more

having choosing a random restaurant in Hell's Kitchen, this one was a GREAT find. Will deff come back. The interior design is a bit dark but very modern and the space was on the smaller side. I came on a Friday night (early in the evening) and it was fairly crowded (but seated right away). The wait staff was super friendly and welcoming and was very good with answering our questions. Now the food, omg the food. We started with a small Charcuteire board and everything on the board was delicious. The truffle honey that comes with it, to die for. It was very fragrant and very strong in taste but the honey really mellows it out. The meat selections were all unique and tasty and the fruits were fresh and sweet. We also ordered a margherita pizza, it was fresh and good (nothing too special). The highlight of the meal was definitely the Faggotini Porchini pasta. The shapes of the pasta sort of resembles a dumpling, and it was stuffed with pear and ricotta cheese served in a hearty mushroom cream sauce. It.Was.Delicious. I loved every bite of it and wanted to just lick the bowl clean of the sauce. Could eat bowls of just the sauce. Highly recommend if you like mushrooms (and truffle because the sauce was made from mushrooms and truffle.) Im still dreaming of this dish. We have all been to that Italian restaurant where the owner visits the table and talks about the best ingredients flown in front Italy, only to be left disappointed. Not here. Every bite of this dinner made us question our own moms homemade Italian cooking. The porcini fagottini porcini with cognac cream sauce and truffle oil immediately melted in my mouth and slowly revealed each surprising and mouthwatering layer of flavor. I found myself slowing down just to make each bite count, hoping it would never end. Other notable bites were the olive tapenade bruschetta and the paccheri vodka which was another entree favorite. As not a dessert guy I was blown away by the tiramisu and washed it down with a perfect espresso martini. All of the above accompanied with an attentive staff and casual staff.
