Sent in my watch to get repaired after it stopped working. To be fair I am not gentle on the products, but they stand up to everything I put them through. My Chronicle was unable to be repaired, but they offered to ship me a new watch without hesitation. The customer support was very friendly and fast in getting my new watched shipped out to me. Horrible experience. Had to return watch several times in fist 12 months due to fog issues on face. Nixon were no help. I finally demanded that they fix watch. They advised that it would be a 6-8 week wait.......and I did not get a replacement. So I had no watch for 6 weeks. I had to keep contacting them to understand what was happening with watch. Nixon provided no updates. I finally requested a new watch. The only offer they gave me was to select a watch from the current range. I then had to pay the difference. CRAZY BAD SERVICE. This was all for a watch that was faulty under warranty. read more

I purchased one of their surf watches, the Small Lodown and loved it. Great for surfing and even everyday use. I have only had it for a little over a year and it stopped working. When I sent it in and received the unit and invoice it looks like the unit was replaced altogether. I suspect it will cost them more to repair it so they just replaced it. Not too much hassle since it was still under warranty, just had to arrange for repairs, send it in and pay for shipping and deal with no watch for a few weeks. Since then, I have sent it in 3 more times and they have either replaced it (with a fee) or serviced it, and spent about $45 on each service order. The last service order I put in to Nixon they misdiagnosed it with a battery change (according to the invoice) and it stopped working within a day of use (with condensation inside). When I sent it back in they have offered a replacement credit bec. they could not repair it since the seal was now broken and water got in. and also the model is now discontinued. I had some billing issues with this last order and after being on the phone with their disinterested customer service 2 times for 10 minutes today I decided it was not worth my time any more. In the 5 years I have owned this watch, I have had it serviced 4 times with Nixon. I thought it was cheaper than buying a new watch of the same model, but after getting it repaired so many times, it ended up costing way more money. If something is wrong with your watch, I suggest bringing it in to your neighborhood watch repair shop/ watch store first, I did this one time and it turned out to just be a dead battery, only cost me $8 to get it changed...Save your money and save yourself some headaches! read more

Customer service from this company is shocking. My chrono 42-20 has just returned from their service center after spending 3 weeks there - and is still losing time. They replaced the battery the first time around - despite reports of having it replaced recently. All I am told to do by the rather rude man on the customer service line is to send it in again. He is abrupt, talks over you, and is most unhelpful. I love the look of Nixon watches but can't see myself buying another one. I have had 3 nixon watches in the past few years. Two Lodowns and The Key. All three broke within a year (the most recent Lodown in just a few months). Customer service sucks. They make you put in a credit card number for repairs and shipping before they have even looked at your watch. Very unhelpful on the phone. I have $30 watches from the drugstore that have long outlasted any Nixon watch. I will not buy another one. read more

I have bought nixons my whole life I would like to take a minute and writing this review to tell you guys that i think that you make a extremely outstanding product. Not just aesthetically, but they are built very durable as well. I can testify to this in part due to the fact that I recently had the misfortune of falling off a 4 story building, onto a glass table and then on to the concrete. Luckily i only walked away with a couple scratches and some dislocated bones in my hand. My Nixon watch held up true to form to this massive fall very well. All i needed was a link pin and a new lock clasp which I took to your HQ in Encinitas. While there I was greeted by a totaly rad chick by the name of Hailey ( i hope thats how its spelled) that helped me out with everything I needed and gave top notch customer service. I love the watches and the customer service. I bought my first Nixon watch 5 years ago and I have never had a single problem with it. When I got water condensation inside the glass I sent it in to be fixed. They ddn't have the part they needed to fix it so they offered me a new watch. This is how customer service should be. This company has the worst customer service ever. I purchased The Unit for my husband in May 2013. It stopped working in August 2014 at which time I returned it to Nixon Inc.,as instructed. It was still under the warranty. The watch was received by Nixon on Aug 7. It turned out that It needed a new battery. After many, many frustrating telephone calls I finally received the watch back on Sept. 17. I was told that the summer is their busy repair season, but a month and a half to change a battery? If they are that busy with repairs, one might question the quality of the product. I'm just saying...... Well, I for one will never buy another Nixon watch. read more

I heard the nixon mission was a good watch, boy was I wrong. It quit working after 6 months and their nazi customer service center is awful - they act if they are superior to you. Eek! These other reviews are discouraging! However, so far, I have not experienced this. I received the Small Player in Crystal for Christmas 2013. Love the watch, never had any issues with it yet. (Side note: There was a girl at Biergarden one night who had the same watch, she said she has worn it everyday for 5 years and loves it, so that is encouraging.) Anyways, I was gifted the VIP pro. card from someone, and was able to get items at a discounted rate. I made one purchase for ear buds, not knowing it was a "one time use card" ... as in, I was S.O.L. and needed to make any other purchases I wanted at that time only. (Yes, it says that on the card, however it is ill phrased in my opinion. It appeared to me that you could only purchase the limit of those items, one time and it would not allow you any more than the max cap they had.) I emailed customer service, got a quick email back from a girl named Madison asking me to call her, in which I did. She then broke my heart and told me it was a one time use card, and I think I went into a straight panic attack and cried right then and there. I asked (begged) if there was anything I could possibly do, because it was ill phrased (my opinion) and she put me on hold.... and directed me to a website in which I could get a new card. More tears, this of joy and profusely thanking her. So far, so good. I emailed her again to thank her, and thought I would let Madison know how nice she was to accommodate me. I live local in Leucadia, so it was nice to feel some local love. And hopefully the next watches I purchase live a long and happy life. read more

I've had two Nixon watches now, both were good watches with a tide function, but aware that these watches are disposable, expensive and disposable. On the first the metal band broke and Nixon said they couldn't fix it because the no longer make that watch. I sent it back to them and they gave me a partial credit for buying another watch. The replacement had a rubbery plastic band. I looks very heavy duty, but after a couple years of wear the looper broke and now the band has cracked and is broken, turning the wrist watch into a pocket watch. Nixon said they can't replace it because they no longer make that model. $300 is pretty expensive for a disposable watch. read more

It will not last! Shortly after purchasing it the second hand broke and just spunn around. I realized it was a bad purchase and just figured I would deal with it. Then the second hand fell off all together. I contacted Nixon thinking they would stand behind their product. I sent the watch to them to fix. They sent me an e-mail stating it could not be fixed and they would give me a one time offer to replace. They charged me for the repairs that they could not make and deducted them from the cost of the replacement.................net net I paid almost full price to replace. read more

Hi, my wife bought me my Nixon Newton in Maui for my birthday. I thought it was very unique. I was a little dissapointed that it wasn't water proof but thats the one I wanted. I had many compliments on it over the year I had it ,but I got it caught on something and ripped the strap on it and damaged the housing a little bit. I was sick to think that I had ruined my watch. I took it to a local dealer and they told me of the process to return it to Nixon here in Canada. A few weeks later I was informed that I would be recieving a brand new watch. I love the look of their watches and own a 51-30 tide, the passport, the chronicle, lowdown, and the platform. These were all purchased/ received over the last 3-4 years. The 51-30 tide and the lowdown are the only ones that still work, but the tide looses time occasionally. The Passport was a gift from my fiancé for Christmas 2016. Great looking watch .... already broken. I used to always recommend this watch brand. Now I can not. They look great and are built solid but the mechanics inside do not hold up at all. I am not rough on things. All of these should still work. Really disappointed. Normally I would not right a review but I own 5 nixions and 1.5 out of 5 still work. That's pretty bad. read more

Sent in my PU 51-30 FOR A RUBBER BAND REPLACEMENT. While still under warranty. Charges me 70 bucks! For something I could have done myself if they would allow the retailers to stock replacement bands. But no, they use the same sneaky trick all watch companies do. They make you send it in and charge you for a full inspection. I didn't need a inspection, the watch wasn't even a year old. What I needed was a friggen rubber watch band. If you wont replace a 30 cent item for free, while under warranty, DON'T USE THE MATERIAL IF IT WONT LAST A YEAR. read more

My husband bought me a Nixon watch right before he was medically retired from the military and we moved back home. Within a couple weeks of owning the watch, it stopped working. A couple months later we finally received our house hold goods that included the watch information and receipt. I called Nixon to have the watch repaired or replaced and they are telling me that I have to pay basically the same price paid when the watch was bought. A brand new watch with corroded insides is not covered in their 2 year warranty???? I can't believe they even sell pieces of crap like this, obviously there's no quality control. I tried to have a defective watch repaired less than 6 months after purchasing it....... It was in perfect shape cosmetically, but the time was fast and would not stay correct. These guys did more than repair my watch, they made me customer for life! Great customer service and great turn around! I have sent many watches in to be repaired and most have been little cost out of pocket, but I have always been very satisfied with the outcome. My husband and I went into the Encinitas store on August 28th,2018 to buy him a watch. They didn't have the band that he wanted, but the girl working there said she could order one online. she said it could come as early as the next day, and took our phone number so we'd be notified when it arrived. Several days passed with no word so we called. We were told by a guy there that there had been some problem with our order as well as some others. He said there was a good chance it would arrive later that day. Later that day came, we called and were told it hadn't come and wasn't going to come, due to that same "problem" and he would call us. Well, here is it almost 2 weeks later, with no word from them. and NO WATCH!!! I may change this review if/when/once we get the watch, but for now, the main reason for us shopping at Nixon - their customer service reviews - is the main reason for my bad review. read more

I never worry when I damage my watch. Every time I go in they either fix it for free and send it to me or fix the part right there (if they have it) in the store in 5 minutes. The Nixon Time Teller Watch that I ordered not to long ago has finally arrived. The watch really is a piece of art, and looks very professional. The watch really lives up to Its name with the quality, comfort, and appearance. The appearance of the watch is extraordinary. The matte black with the gold finish really makes the watch look elegant. Id rate this watch four out of five stars. The only reason that I gave it four stars is that it can get scratched really easy, and needs to be cleaned almost every time you use it. Plus, it only has one function really. Other than that, Id recommend this watch to anyone looking to buy one. read more

I owned a Nixon Ultratide for 2 years and had to send the watch back for repairs 4 times during this time. Every time it cost me about $40 in courier and insurance and it would take about a month to have the watch back. Two of those times they managed to send the watch back to the wrong address. In my last attempt to have it fixed, they managed to send me back an empty box after a month. After asking for my money back for being done with trying to deal with the company, I was told they wouldn't refund me because it was bought it from Amazon. In my opinion, any reputable company should stand behind their product regardless of their distribution channel. To top off my bad experience with the company, I was offered a new watch. Upon accepting it, I was told to hold off on my package and all the paperwork because they were starting an investigation with UPS and an agent would come to my house to take photographic evidence. I had to double check the email address to make sure it wasn't a scam because the message didn't even seem real. Nixon, you have caused me enough headache with your overpriced and unreliable product, and your poor customer service has led me to write this review so that your prospect customers are aware of the experience of dealing with a company like yours. You have lost my trust and not only I'll never buy one of your products again, but I'll make sure my friends and relatives know about my experience dealing with you. I had pro skateboarder KEVIN STAAB give me two Nixon watches that just had dead batteries. he said to bring them to nixon in encinitas and they will easily change the batteries. well i went down there and brought my watches to the girl in the front desk, she gave me minimal info on what i needed to do. she took down my info and said that i would get an email from them. so after a month i have NO EMAIL!! so i give them a call and they tell me that the watches are just sitting there because of no payment. WTF?? i would've paid when i dropped them off but the girl said ill get an email with payment info which i didn't. So i go ahead and pay the 30 dollars for two batteries and here i am two weeks later and still no response, email or nothing. after i get my watches ill never recommend or get another nixon watch ever! super lame, just for dead batteries. ill probably go down there and give them an ear full. nixon watches suck! read more

Nixon is by far the best company that I have ever dealt with. I surf a lot and have bought two of their watches for surfing (Lo-Down, and SuperTide) and two for the casual night out, (Newton, Player). I have had frequent problems with the Supertide and every time it needs repair I call their office and they email me a shipping label to send it in. I send it usually the day I call and the turn around time is insane! They received the watch and sent a new one in the same day. I got my Supertide back in 5 days. Their customer service is outstanding and they stand by the quality of their watches. My Lo down is my beater, go to surfing watch and one day while playing frisbee I collided with someone also trying to catch it and the band ripped off. Granted the watch was two years old and made rubber. I sent it in with my supertide the first time it broke without a service order and they still replaced it with a brand new watch. Nixon is just an overall outstanding company and I will continue to use them for all my future watch purchases. read more

Wow, the customer service complaints on here are on-point, I wish now I'd read them before ordering from them! I tried to order a watch online on Thursday. There was a problem with processing my card or something on the website, so I called and spoke to someone at Nixon and was able to order it over the phone, no problem. Or so I thought. I specifically said to the guy (I wish I'd thought to get his name) that I needed next day delivery, which is an option online, and he said I'd have it tomorrow (Friday), no problem. When I receive my confirmation email from them, it says 'Shipping - Ground'. When I call and ask why it says 'ground' when I specifically asked for 'next day', I'm told (I think it was the same person I spoke to) that 'they didn't want to charge me extra for overnight when ground would probably be there tomorrow, or if not tomorrow then Monday'. I pointed out that I didn't mind, as I'd said I needed it NEXT DAY, and was obviously willing to pay the extra $$ for that option, but it didn't seem to matter to him. There was no 'oh I'm so sorry', no attempt to even try and rectify the situation. I was finally told that it actually hadn't left the warehouse yet, so I asked if it could just be changed to Saturday delivery, and he told me that UPS won't deliver Saturday, which just isn't true. I'm so disappointed- I needed it in time to give my boyfriend as a birthday present, which is now going to be late. read more

I worked in a surf shop in the late 90's and we would send back one of their watches for repair practically every week. My wife bought me a "Lowdown" a few years back with the tide functionality and I was hopeful their products had gotten better. This is not the case, they are still complete junk. I mean come on.....Who makes a surf watch that is not water proof? Needles to say it got water in it and broke, i was just surfing not diving 100meters that it claims it holds up until. I had taken back and soon the battery died and it ended up in a drawer where old things go to die. I found it the other week and decided to try and get it to work again. We live locally so I took by and had it fixed...and a week later same thing with the water. However this time the thing went nuts and started flashing and blinking until it just shut down. The funny part of the story is I was at a local surf shop getting a new tide watch " a different brand of course" and the young girl working there before I even said anything said "you don't want a Nixon they are junk, we send them back all the time". I bought a Nixon platform watch less than 1 year ago. The band broke win 1.5 months and I have continued to repair different links and pins throughout the band. I total I have fixed it 9 times....so far. Recently the watch literally fell off my wrist when I was walking. I looked at the way it broke and an internal pin literally snapped. I sent it in to them and they first told me that it was warranty and they will fix it for free. Then they told me it couldn't be fixed and I have 200$ credit to anything else I wanted in their online store. When I went to claim the store credit they told me I needed to pay 35$ for the band repair and wouldn't send the watch back to me until I gave them credit card info. By far the worst customer service I have ever had also the worst product quality. I have owned 5 nixon watches and all of them were horrible and broke within the first year. Think twice (or maybe 9-10 times) before you even consider buying any of their products. read more

between my 3 kids and myself not a single nixon lasted 6 months before the screen blacking out. (lodowns/ units) they want 50 or ive even heard 100 bucks to "service" the peice. this company is deep in the surf/skate/snow you name it industry and style has always been obviously more important then quality. yea yea i know its just a watch but many people work hard for their money and trust a product to deliver reliability. these guys are the next swatch. save your cash keep looking around. btw ive been inside there encinitas,ca sales location and it sure is pretty.(just like their products) read more
