Great food and atmosphere for a night out with the family or friends. The quality of the fish is always consistent. If you're looking for a restaurant that has delicious yakitori AND sushi AND Japanese cuisine, this is it. Service is always kind and speedy. However give more time for yakitori. Cavin, the owner, always greets each table and is so personable. The whole staff here is so attentive, friendly and professional. The yakitori always comes out piping hot and tasty. They give you a generous portion of their yakitori sauce. My favorite is the chicken skin, it's so crispy and delicious. The sashimi is always fresh. I love the thick cuts they serve on a plate of ice. I like that I can take my time to enjoy the sashimi during my meal. Lastly, the ube mochi dessert is amazing. It's soft, chewy, and if you're lucky to get a crispy end piece, there's a nice crunch with the chewiness. No 1 Kazoku is located on Valley adjacent to Life Plaza and across from the Hilton SGV hotel. Plenty of street parking or in the back lot. Bon Appétit my friends

Freshest sushi served here and they have some yakitori options! Beef tongue skewer here is good and paired with a yuzu sauce. Chirashi bowl was filled with buttery and fresh fish. Their spicy tuna shrimp tempura roll was presented beautifully and would order again. Squid legs were a great appetizer to share.

Went here for some dinner. Food was great very clean and delicious! The service was great as well. Only I do want to mention drinks no refill. But other than that I think this place is good. Parking is in the back or street parking. Place is a bit hidden but I definitely recommend 626 area friends to come check out the place! Owner is also very nice too!

Honestly pretty good sushi for an option open til later. Only thing I didn't like was their bland wasabi. There was a lot of fish in the rolls which was a plus. The inside was decently sized and service was good.

Very pleasantly surprised with this sushi spot. We enjoyed everything and will definitely be back for more. Price, quality and quantity were great!

I saw that they had a Happy Hour menu on their website so decided to come with some friends to be happy. Too bad that happiness didn't last as we were told Happy Hour was not offered when we arrived. This was frustrating as I confirmed with them on their IG and they said they offered HH. I showed them the message and they claimed that AI replied to me... not them? So, I then proceeded to reply back to IG and of course I never got a message back but I can see they read my message.

I came here on a Sunday lunch and the vibes are great if you want to hang out with a small group of friends or on a easy, casual date. It's not too loud so you can hear your friends. The lunch menu is more limited compared to the dinner menu. I got the Chirashi Regular which came with 8 fat cuts of sashimi, 2 sweet eggs, 1 piece of fried chicken, masago, and seaweed salad all on top of a bed of sushi rice. I loved the sashimi, they were generous cuts. The fish didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked and the fried chicken piece wasn't crispy. The restaurant was clean and the staff were nice and accommodating.

This place has the freshest sushi I have ever had in the area! Service is top notch here too I love the little booths they have against the wall & the private rooms too! Gives authentic Japanese vibes :)

This sushi spot is located across the San Gabriel Hilton Hotel. The manager welcomed us in and explained the menu specials to us. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and their most popular clam skewer. They're all delicious and priced fairly for the quality of the food and service. Each roll has large pieces of fish and is super filling. This place is good for large groups. They have a huge tv inside for people to watch sports. I saw they're doing a Super Bowl 2024 special.

I absolutely love coming here. Having dinner here after work with my girl friend. The manager (Cavin) here is super friendly and treats all customers like close friends. Just the customer service itself is worth the trip. Of course the food is bomb as well. Definitely my to go to when I'm free in San Gabriel Valley after a long day at work!

The first time I came here was on a Sunday night, and I was very pleased. Would have given 4/5 stars! But my latest visit on a Saturday night brought the review down to 3/5. Here's why... Yakitori- Gizzard and beef tongue- both were very chewy and not juicy! Ankimo appetizer- this was probably the driest and most firm ankimo I've had. The cucumber slices were thick, with one piece under each ankimo chunk. They should have been thinly sliced, which would have soaked up the ponzu dressing. What saved this review was the sashimi.... Salmon, sweet shrimp, yellowtail sashimi- these were good and the slices were decent in size. The fish/shrimp were also very fresh. Corkage fee $30 Service 5/5 :)

"Kazoku means family, and family means nobody gets left behind" - Suticchi-san. This definitely deserves the title and name as the No 1 Kazoku (family) that leaves nobody behind. Their food quality and service is top notch. I would recommend: Squid Legs, Yellowtail Sushi, Yellowtail Collar, and Pork Belly Skewers (takes almost half an hour). I got their Tokyo fried rice a second time as well, and this time it was surprisingly very bland. But the flavor was still very good. I guess the salt got left behind. Great place.

We decided to grab a quick sushi lunch before heading back to the Bay Area. No 1 Kazuko is located right across the street from my hotel the San Gabriel Hilton on Valley Blvd. I made reservations and was seated right away. There is a QR code menu but we were handed a lunch menu which we ordered from. Deluxe Chirashi 4 stars nice fresh cuts of fish but nothing special that makes it deluxe. No 2 Bento 4 stars comes with grilled mackerel, tempura, sashimi and a salmon tuna poke salad. Nigiri sushi lunch 4 stars normal cuts of fish Service was good. Parking in the rear at the Del Mar Ranch 99 shopping center. If you sit at the booths near the sushi bar there is a TV.

I remember when they first opened, I was thinking to myself, "Hell yeah, finally it's closer to us…read moreand now I don't have to go all the way to like Torrance or something." Well that was ages ago and it wasn't until now that I was able to visit and try out their delicious katsu, which hands down, is super good! I went during National Library Card Month. During the month of September, the city of Monterey Park is running a special where if you have a MPK library card, you can get deals and freebies from businesses and you can get an iced or green tea from Kagura if you show them your library card. I got a cold canned green tea, added to a cup of ice, refreshing and great with the delicious katsu that I got. I did a walk in for a slightly later lunch after dropping by Asayoru Maid Cafe across the street for a drink during their morning Asa shift. I went on a Thursday and was seated immediately. Staff is very friendly and checked up on me several times. It's a smaller restaurant, but it's simple and elegant in it's own way. No extra frills or bells and whistles. There were a couple other tables dining there and pick up orders too, so I can imagine it'd be busy during the weekends and lunch/dinner rushes. They have a paper wait list outside for those times. Limited parking in front of the plaza, but there's a parking structure next door. For my lunch, I got their demi glace loin katsu. It comes with miso soup, a side of rice, huge helping of cabbage salad with dressing, hot mustard, and some small sides of a sweet carrot salad, cucumber pickles, and 2 pieces of potatoes. Each side added a nice balance to flavor. I mention this in some reviews and to my friends that usually you get full because you get tired of the same flavor and texture all of the time, so I really enjoyed the small bites of crunchy texture from sweet, sour, and savory. The katsu is really where Kagura shines, as it's what they're known for. Super moist pork katsu meat inside, deliciously tender delicate layers of meat. The crisp of the breading outside isn't too greasy, but has the perfect level of indulgent oiliness that balances out. All perfect with a fluffy bed of rice and the demi glace brown sauce added a deliciously savory, slightly sort of fruity ketchup-y flavor (added this to my rice too!). Definitely want to come back to try more of their menu!

The karaage is really good. For $11 it's kind of a small portion but it's super tender. Probably…read moreone of the best karaage in the SGV. The ika geso was also $11 and even tinier portion. It was okay. I wouldn't need to order this one again. Minus one star for the portion but overall I would come back because I live across the street.
