This is one of those places where I am surprised by the difference in stars vs. how I felt about this place. I was between a 2 and 3 star but to give the benefit of the doubt, will give a 3 star for now. I came with a friend around 930 on a Saturday, and was relatively unpacked so we got seated immediately. In terms of service, I usually do not mind too much about service, especially since its such a hard job but I do not think I had someone who's tone showed how little they cared. But of course, could always be a bad day so cannot hold them too accountable for that. For the foods, I personally got their wet chorizo burrito and my friend got their banana pecan pancakes with sausage and egg. The wet chorizo burrito was a 6.5/10. In terms of the general flavor, it was not too bad. The egg was relatively well seasoned, but honestly I could not taste the chorizo whatsoever, so it became just a basic breakfast burrito for me. The most surprising part to me which I never usually feel, was that the sauce was way too strong. I love myself a good wet burrito, but the sauce was just too overpowering and honestly ruined it for me. Finally, although I did not get to try the pancakes, my friend was very put off with the multiple strands of hair that was found in it, and ended up not being able to finish it due to both the disgust factor of it as well as the lack of flavor in the foods. For about $5 bucks more they'll throw in 3- 5 small pieces of meat on top and call it Steak chilaquiles. I wanted to love this, but the Chopper Chilaquiles really disappointed. It says it is smothered in green sauce, but I barely had any sauce on the eggs. *Social Distancing review* I don't do breakfast often, so it's a treat whenever I manage to go out for a morning meal. It was my mom's birthday, and when we showed up to Denny's for her free Grand Slam, only to find the promo was rescinded this year, No Toro Cafe popped into my head as a Plan B. I've been meaning to check it out, and with pancakes, eggs & bacon on our mind, it seemed a good option. Sniper scrambler bar ($11 plus additional for banana pecan pancakes)- 3 scrambled eggs, 3 toppings & potatoes. The Sniper scrambler bar was good, but meager in portions. Potatoes came via country potatoes, which I would've preferred hash browns. 2 strips of bacon, sausage & onions. Nothing bad, but not something I'd fill up on. Banana pecan pancakes- I don't know if these are full-sized, or smaller because of being an add-on, but these pancakes were children's portions. They had decent fluff to them, and the slices of banana, whipped topping & pecans w/ powdered sugar dusting adornment added to the experience, but as someone accustomed to those giant flying saucers at Denny's, seeing the plate of pancakes dropped off at our table made me do a double take. Service was fine. We dined in, and our wait for our food was within reason. However, a couple small fans were providing circulation, which was greatly in need. I found the atmosphere stuffy, and it really put a damper on our whole experience. No Toro Cafe is located in the small strip mall as Belly Bombz Kitchen & TJ's Submarines, left of Meccha Matcha. No toro, but I wasn't impressed with No Toro. Quantity wasn't proportionate to price. It sucks having a meal and not being satiated. There are better, and cheaper, breakfast options out there. I may come back, eventually, to try something else on menu, perhaps paired with their cafe de olla, but not anytime soon. read more

Definitely feels like a home-cooked meal to me. And here's my take and highlights- 1. Great service and patient with your questions especially for parents like mine whom I need to help them with the menu. 2. The Gunner Breakfast burrito with Toro sauce was very hearty and can taste lovely potatoes scrambled eggs- very generous portions of egg and sausage. Top it with their salsa and you've got an awesome breakfast to keep you going for the rest of the day! Can definitely share that with someone else so you can taste everyone's food too haha 3. The raspberry compote is not as sweet and perfect topping to pancakes or dip it in case you don't like a mushy pancake. 4. Restrooms clean and the ambiance is definitely awesome with the wonderful photos of our US Troops. I visited this cafe on 11/23 with a few friends, hoping to enjoy a great meal, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. We ordered several items, including the Chesty Burrito, Chorizo Chilaquiles, Potato Chilaquiles, Banana Nutella Pancakes, and Banana Chocolate Chip French Toast, and Fries. The pancakes were the best item we tried, and even they were just mediocre (no butter?!). The rest of the dishes were severely underwhelming. The portions were ridiculously small, and none of the food had any seasoning, leaving us to rely heavily on the salt and pepper shakers on the table just to add some flavor. It was painfully obvious that much of the food was frozen, and the cooking felt like it was done by a microwave rather than a cook. Every sauce, whether on the chilaquiles or the burrito, lacked spice, flavor, and was watered down. The service didn't help the experience, either. We had to ask for syrup five different times just to have enough for the dessert dishes. It was frustrating and felt like an unnecessary hassle. What made this experience even more disappointing was the way the cafe approached its Hispanic menu items. The execution was so dull that it felt disrespectful to the cuisine and culture it was attempting to represent. There was no authenticity or care put into the dishes, making the entire meal feel like a missed opportunity. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food or a positive dining experience. Save your time and money and find a spot that actually puts effort into its food and service. For a bill of $120, if you have to choose between getting seated immediately here or waiting an hour at any other restaurant, I would wait the hour. #nobull on the walls? More like #bigbull. After visiting this place a few times now, I can easily say this is a great breakfast/lunch place everyone needs to try. Female veteran owned with a military twist on the menu names. The most popular dish here is going to be the chilaquiles. You can get them topped with just about anything and they give you a good amount. My favorite dish is the Sargent scramble. Again you can get any topping you want and it comes with potatoes and bread. My go to drink is half and half of the café de olla and regular coffee. Made a quick stop to eat some breakfast with my family. We were so hungry and ordered the chicken chilaquiles. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The sauce was super watery, the chips seemed to be from a bag that had been opened a while ago and overall it was not what we were hoping for. The service however was fast so that was nice. This is one of my favorite neighborhood breakfast spots. It's a small, humble cafe and the service and food are all great! Been here a few times always before 8am on Saturday mornings to beat the crowd. Since the place is kinda small, the tables do tend to fill up quickly. I've tried the special ops, walnut pancakes and the blackberry pancakes on the different times that I've been there. I feel that the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you're given. One Saturday we were here, my bf ordered the Reese's peanut butter pancakes (this wasn't on the menu but was a special at the time). We got excited because we love Reese's! So good! This is my second time going to this place and again it amazed me. The atmosphere is nothing too fancy but it's very home and comfort oriented. The staff and servers are very friendly and kept checking in to see if we needed any refills or anything in general. My family and I came in on a wednesday, 20min after they've opened. It was good timing because we were seated immediately and there was no commotion considering they had just opened. This was my 2nd time coming here and my husband's 1st. We were very pleased with the service and food at this place. My husband ordered the Case de Olla (their popular coffee) and I must say, it is really goooooood! And this is coming from someone who does not drink coffee. You do not need any creamer or sugar, you can drink it as is. As for the food...the chilesquiles was super delicious. You can tell they make their chips fresh. The sauce goes with it and once that egg yoke breaks, it's game over! The breakfast sandwich was such as good. I'm an egg person so as you can see from my pic there was plenty of it. I ordered a hot tea, which is a single disposable packet and hot water, this took TEN minutes to receive. Next we move to the food, ordered the SGT I think it's called, got both bacon and sausage thinking it was extra protein, it was one additional slice of bacon. I ordered a side of turkey bacon, 3.99; it was the two smallest and thinnest slices of bacon I've ever seen. For 2 dollars a strip....not cool. I ordered French fries with my Sammy, they came out the whitest and most unfried fries I've ever seen, soggy and limp. I ask for them to be cooked some more to which I received the most puzzling look. Then they were brought out, looked the same, unappealing. I asked for a side of ranch....twice. The other person in my party ordered checked chicken chilaquiles...well it was 2 ounces of chicken with two eggs, chips n salsa. I've never seen chilaquiles just crunchy chips. For a $50 dollar breakfast, we left hungry. The portions are tiny for anyone seeking something hearty. It's awesome when business have TVs, they had the Soccer game which was cool. No toro is a cute spot in artesia. They offer a pretty large menu for being a small hole in the wall. No toro offers some original items such as loaded specialty pancakes, Mexican style breakfast dishes and old fashion breakfast. I ordered a pretty simple breakfast as I wasn't in the mood to be fancy that morning. I drilled down to the sniper scrambler. It consisted of avocado, grilled onions and cheese which came with potatoes and toast. we waited and waited. then waited a little bit more. and then waited just a while longer. the bam our meals were delivered. I reached down to take my first bite to taste this scrambled creation to taste that everything was cold. so I look down in sadness to see that not only was my scrambler cold it also had raw onions. No yummy smoky grilled onions, but sad sad pungent flavored raw onions. I tried to pick all of them out which sadly made my scrambler more cold in the process. The pros: I liked the military decor and general support of the armed forces shown. I'd never had a cafe de olla, which was fantastic. The cons: Our pancakes were brought, but the eggs and bacon/sausage that comes with the pancakes didn't come for over twenty minutes. That's not an exaggeration; all four of us checked the time. It's a small place, but there were two tables empty, so it wasn't packed. Maybe they were short-staffed that Saturday morning, but it wasn't great timing. As for the food, the eggs and sausage were good. Yet the blackberry walnut pancakes had the most bizarre berry "syrup". It was gluey and seemed to be over boiled, which was odd. I don't know where they obtained this "spread" as it was not the viscosity that excites the appetite, but it was cloying and the texture was quite disgusting. I wanted to like this place, but they need more kitchen staff and better food products. If I come back, it will only be for the cafe de olla. read more

Delicious find! A very simple menu with items that pack a punch of flavors. Really glad my friends took me here. The staff was friendly. Parking is easy. I had a very basic breakfast because that's what I was craving, but a bite of everyone else's dishes and they were delish.
